IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!
Wow, this story is old. Very, very old. XD However, I have recently been struck with a ton of inspiration and muse, so I am posting this note at the both the beginning of this story and as the newest "chapter" as a courtesy to let anyone who might still be following this know I am giving each and every chapter an overhaul and will start updating regularly again once I reach the point where I left off all those years ago ( Chapter 14 ). Sometime next month I will have the redone "Chapter 1" up and posted, and I will try to follow a regular updating schedule after that ( my ultimate goal is to update once a week, so to achieve this end I am trying to stockpile some chapters ahead of time, hence the delay before Chapter 1 posts ).
The original version of this story ( this version, as you see it now ) will be taken down once I post the first chapter of the new-and-improved version. If you've never read this version, I recommend waiting for the new version, as my writing here is cringe, but I am leaving it up for the time being as a refresher for long-time readers and to give potential new readers a better idea of what kind of a story this will be.

If you're new to the story, WELCOME! "Twisted Realities" is an Anakin-and-Luke-centric fic that involves time travel and alternate universes. Specifically, a mysterious force yeets Episode II Padawan Anakin into the future where he encounters his son Luke just days after the last scenes in "Return of the Jedi" have taken place. The two work together to unravel the mystery of who or what sent Anakin and why while searching for Han, Leia, and Chewbacca, all of whom turned up missing around the same time.
Canon ships, but there will be little-to-no romance in this story, as it is NOT the focus. Also, by "canon" I mean "movie canon". I will be completely disregarding the entire EU for the duration of the story. I am aware that plenty of material exists outside of the EU that expands on the movies' canon ( the new cartoon series which involves Anakin's Padawan, for example ) but I don't yet have any plans to incorporate or reference it. This may change later, but for now is unlikely.
Finally, even though time travel and alternate universes are major component of this story, as-of-now I have no plans to include Rey, Kylo Ren, or any other characters or events from the sequel trilogy. I have nothing against the sequel movies ( other than the gross injustice I feel they did to Luke's and Leia's characterizations ), they just don't work with this story's plot. That being said it is POSSIBLE I may make brief mentions of or allusions to characters and/or events from the sequels IF the opportunities present themselves, but don't count on it.

"Twisted Realities" is getting an overhaul because my writing has improved GREATLY in the 17 years since the first chapter was posted and the first 6 chapters especially are pure cringe.
The plot will remain the same, as will most of the events and dialogue. Mainly I will be reworking the wording and dialogue to make the story flow better and correcting grammar/spelling/mechanics-of-writing errors. In some places the dialogue will be tweaked and descriptions fleshed out and/or expanded upon to better portray characters' reactions and the setting better, especially in the first 6 chapters where I was in such a hurry to get to the meat of the story I rushed things a bit too much and so gung-ho about staying light-hearted and humorous that I ( in my opinion anyway ) made Anakin and Luke a bit out-of-character.
YOU WILL FIND THE NEW VERSION OF "TWISTED REALITIES" TO BE MORE SERIOUS IN TONE THAN THE PREVIOUS VERSION. This isn't to say it will be all angst and darkness: I aim to keep a fair amount of humor in this fic and will always try to lighten the mood when I feel it's getting too dark. However, I am no longer willing to sacrifice Anakin's and Luke's in-characterness for the sake of humor. I want Anakin and Luke to FEEL like Anakin and Luke. That means the reactions that they have to the things they see and hear in the first few chapters especially need to be more believable and true to who they are as individuals. I didn't have this problem so much in the later chapters, but yeah, Chapters 1-5 especially are going to see a lot of overhaul. Sadly I don't have the time and patience to give this story the full rewrite I feel it deserves, so you will still notice a marked change in quality from worse to better as the chapters progress. But the story should be much better overall, and this time will be finished. : )
