"How're you doing, baby?" Willow lightly ran her black-tipped fingernails through Kip's hair. She was happy he was growing it out again, and that it was no longer bleached white; it was once again soft to the touch.
"I'm fine. Why do you ask?"
"Monty…"
Wincing, he looked into her solemn green eyes. "I'll be fine, Red."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. It's great to be back. Whenever you're forced out of action, it's like eternity passes before you're back home in the ring."
Letting him continue, Willow kissed the silky skin of his shoulder.
"It was like that the last time… Only different. Last time…"
"Last time, you had Brian."
"Willow-"
"Kip. Don't. I know what he was to you. What he still is. Just like you know what Tara was and always will be to me."
Kip smiled softly at his redhead. "I knew there was a reason I fell in love with you."
Willow tucked her head into the crook of his neck. "Kip…"
"Now don't you start." Twining his fingers in her sleek red locks, Kip placed a kiss on the top of her head. "I do love you, Willow. Not like I love Brian. Just like you could never love me the way you do Tara."
"I know. And I do love you, Kip."
"I know you do. I also know that sometimes it's easier to just pretend-"
"That neither of us care?"
"Yeah…"
They lie silently, bodies curling together comfortingly.
"I do miss him, y'know. And I don't just mean out of the ring."
"I know."
"I mean, it's good to be Mr. Ass again…but I'm still not quite sure how to be him without Road Dogg at my side. I've never been too sure of that one."
"It's just something you'll have to learn. And I'll be right by you every step of the way. Only, y'know, not literally, 'cause that'd be difficult. And I'm not a wrestler, I'm a computer technician."
"You couldn't be any worse than Whorrie Wilson. I've seen how you fight - she has nothing on you. And you're way more beautiful than she could ever hope to be."
"That's very sweet. It's also very untrue. She's-"
"Yes, it is. And she is beautiful on the outside - a perfect Playboy playmate. But I've never been the type of guy to go for looks alone. I mean, just take a look at Brian! He's sexy as all fuck, but…"
"But by conventional standards, he's not the most attractive guy around. I get what you're saying, but-"
"No. You're beautiful - inside and out. I love you. That's all there is to it."
Willow smiled, looking up to meet his eyes. "Alright. And I love you, too."
Kip kissed her softly, moving back after a few moments. Tangling her hands in his hair, Willow pulled him back to meet her lips hungrily.
And as they made love, both forgot their worries and doubts; lost in each other's arms.
