So one or two people have mentioned that Tanya's uniform in the anime is the World War One green uniform. But I am using her character design from the light novel and the manga. In both, Tanya wears what looks like a Wehrmacht uniform. I apologize for any confusion I caused.

Chapter 3: Employment, Status, And Trouble

Jura Tempest Federation, Capital Rimuru

The sunlight slowly crept through the glass windows of the room. As the morning hours went by the room was showered in a gentle golden light. Tanya tossed and turned in her bed as it became harder to ignore the morning sun. Giving up she opened her eyes and immediately squinted at the brilliance. Her head throbbed with a slight headache and her mouth was completely dry. Ugh I shouldn't have drunk that glass so quickly. She lamented to herself.

Tossing the blanket off, she sat up and looked around the room. The bed she was on occupied the right right corner of the room. Across from her was a wooden desk and chair. There was a window directly above the bed and another one the wall between the bed and the desk.

Tanya glanced at herself and realized that she was in pajamas, there were a pair of pink pants and shirt. Her foggy memory of the afternoon before told her that Rimuru had someone take her to this room. They probably also changed her. She recalled a woman with pink hair carrying her before she fell asleep. Standing up she walked over to the desk across from her. Tanya assumed the woman had folded her clothing and placed it on the desk.

Tanya began undressing from the pajamas and put on her socks. She then put on her pants and white shirt. Reaching down she grabbed her boots and put them on, glancing at the chair, she saw her coat. Grabbing her coat from the chair, she buttoned it up. She looked as well dressed as yesterday. Grabbing her cap from the desk, she placed it on her head and prepared to head for the door. She stopped when she heard a soft knock on the door. "Tanya-sama are you awake?" A soft voice asked. "Yes, you may come in."

The door opened to reveal a beautiful girl with long pink hair, dressed in a shrine maidens outfit. The two horns emerging from her forehead weren't too surprising after Tanya had seen the blue haired man yesterday.

"Ah It looks like you are already dressed. I will notify Rimuru-sama immediately. He wished to speak to you first thing in the morning." The woman said. Then she looked at Tanya before bowing her head. "Ah my apologies, my name is Shuna and I was the one who took care of you yesterday."

Tanya nodded in response and watched as Shuna left the room. Right, I was invited to take charge of the military. If I remember correctly Rimuru wanted me to have a meeting with another person, who is currently in charge. Benimaru was it?

After a few more minutes passed Shuna returned. "Tanya-sama if you could follow me, I shall lead you to the meeting room. Rimuru-sama and big brother are already there awaiting your arrival." She began walking away, Tanya followed closely behind. She decided to not make a comment about what she had heard. So Shuna's older brother is the one in charge of the military. Then she is definitely not just some servant. I should show her some respect so that I do not insult my hosts.

After they arrived at two large wooden doors, Shuna paused for a moment before pushing both doors open. Then she quickly placed herself next to the door to the right of Tanya. "Rimuru-sama I have brought Tanya-sama as you have instructed." Shuna said. She bowed her head slightly to Rimuru. "Thank you Shuna. That will be all for now."

Shuna bowed slightly as she closed the doors behind her.

Tanya glanced at the new face in the room. It was a large man, deep red hair covered his head and large red streaks went from his eyes to his cheeks. He wore red robes that seemed Japanese in nature.

"Tanya why don't you take a seat." Rimuru said. He pointed to a chair that was next to him and directly across from the redhead. Taking her seat, Tanya took a deep breath and prepared herself.

"Now that everyone is here, I'll introduce you to each other. Tanya, this is Benimaru. Benimaru, this is Tanya Von Degurechaff." Rimuru said.

"A pleasure to meet you." They both said to each other. Both of them kept a carefully neutral face, neither one wanting to give away anything. Benimaru knew that if Rimuru wanted this young elf to be his superior she must be incredibly powerful.

What Rimuru had failed to remember was that monsters only submitted to those that are stronger. So when he had told Benimaru about Tanya and his plan to have her incharge of the military. Benimaru assumed that Tanya was incredibly powerful.

"Now let's get this meeting started." Rimuru said. "So after hearing what Tanya had to say and her experience as a military officer I planned to have her become the head of our armed forces. Benimaru I called you here because I wanted you to hear your opinion on the matter since this is your job."

Benimaru glanced at Rimuru for a moment before clearing his throat. "If it is your wish Rimuru-sama then I will obey your command. But if you want my opinion then I wish to test Tanya to see if she is worthy of the position." He concluded.

"And what would this test exactly be Benimaru?" Rimuru asked. Benimaru smiled at the question.

"Well it's simple, I wish to test her strength in battle. I challenge her to a dual." He said, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Tanya immediately tensed up. She did not know anything about her opponent and now she was expected to fight him. She had hoped that this meeting was going to be a discussion not a fight. So she decided to speak up before Rimuru could make a decision. "Rimuru I would like to say that I specialize in strategic battles and tactics. I am by no means a power house that can take on monsters."

Benimaru stared at her with a curious look. He had been certain that Rimuru chose her because of her power. But it seemed that she was more of a strategist.

"I understand your objection Tanya, but Benimaru won't acknowledge you unless you prove yourself." Rimuru said.

Tanya balled her fists in frustration. This world was starting to annoy her. "I understand. I'll duel Benimaru." She said firmly. Forming her resolve, Tanya prepared for battle.

Outskirts of the city Rimuru

Tanya slowly took off all of the medals from her uniform. She didn't want them getting destroyed or damaged after all. Then she made her way over to Benimaru. They both stood across from each other in the open field. Rimuru looked at both of them before speaking. "Alright both of you, I don't want you guys killing each other. This is simply a match to show off your strength. Injuries are permitted but do not cause fatal blows. Is that understood?"

"Yes." They both said.

"Then begin!" Rimuru immediately jumped away.

Tanya activated her Unique Skill Combat Expert. Her thought processing accelerated and adrenaline flooded her system. The skill was basically the combination of the Doping, Observation, and other formulas all bundled into one skill.

Benimaru was the first to make a move. He unsheathed his sword and leapt towards Tanya. He was incredibly fast as he closed the distance in less than a second. Still, Tanya could keep track of his movements. She was used to fighting mages who could fly at twice the speed. Using her flight magic Tanya shot up into the sky. Benimaru's sword sliced through the empty air moments after Tanya had taken off.

Looking up Benimaru pointed his palm at Tanya and unleashed a huge fire blast. Tanya used Fire Control to move the blast around her and shot it back at Benimaru. The fire then split into hundreds of fireballs. It was as if she had summoned a whole artillery battalion. Huge explosions tore the ground apart as fireballs continued to rain down on Benimaru's position. The thunderous roar could be heard for miles.

Tanya loved how the magic worked in this world. The ability to unleash powerful attacks like they were nothing was absolutely exciting. There was just one problem.

Tanya's eyes widened when the smoke cleared to reveal an injured but still standing Benimaru. She could not believe he had taken that and remained standing. In her old world that attack would have killed her, she lamented. But then she realized, in her old world a mage was still a regular human. Mana was only a means to enforce their will on the world via formulas. In this world it seemed that magic took on a much larger role. And if that was true it wasn't hard to believe that resistances to attacks could be acquired, unlike in her old world.

Benimaru clicked his tongue in annoyance at the small figure floating above him. His only real ranged attacks were his fire, and if Tanya could manipulate his fire, then all he was left with was close-quarters combat. So Benimaru decided to experiment. Forming a black ball of fire in his palm, he threw it at Tanya. He formed another and threw it as well. He did this over and over until at least ten fire balls were making their way up.

Tanya's observation ability allowed her to analyze to a degree the magic approaching her. The flames were extremely hot and were densely packed with magicules. She immediately began to climb and move away from their intended destination. The enormous explosions that followed were completely unexpected. Tanya bore the full brunt of the shockwaves that followed the expansion and implosion of the fireballs.

She tumbled and spun as she plummeted to the ground. Once she had recovered from the ringing in her ears, she activated her flight magic and stopped just before she turned into a red stain on the ground. Before she could sigh in relief her instincts screamed of danger. Tanya pushed her magic to its current limit. She accelerated so quickly that the ground beneath had the grass ripped out of the soil.

Tanya glanced to her side to see Benimaru's sword slice through the tricep of her right arm. She didn't quite feel the pain, instead she only sensed a strong pressure in the area. The adrenaline in her system was causing her body to numb pain. As the blade made its way out of her arm a deep gash was left. Tanya spun around in the air and slammed into the ground, rolling for a few feet from the impact. She tried to quickly get back in the fight, but fell back down after she accidentally used her right arm for support.

Benimaru was upon her immediately after she fell back down. He raised his sword up and brought it down with a grunt. Tanya rolled to her left and barely dodged the attack. Still on her back she pointed her left hand at Benimaru, only her index and middle finger was extended. A white beam of light shot out and punched a hole right through his chest. Benimaru stumbled a little before leaping away from Tanya. His breathing had a wheeze to it that suggested it had been a lung she had punched a hole through.

That was when both fighters realized that Rimuru was running towards them screaming his head off. "Stop, Stop! The fight is over! I told you guys some injuries were allowed! Not something like this! What are you two crazy?" Rimuru quickly healed Benimaru with a healing potion. Tanya watched in awe as the hole in his chest quickly vanished.

Tanya glanced at her right arm and noticed that she could see the bone. Yet curiously enough she was healing rapidly enough that she could see the muscle fibers, nerves, and blood vessels reforming. She was sure healing like this was impossible in her old world. Rimuru ran up to her and handed her a glass bottle with blue liquid. "Here splash some of this on your wound." Tanya grabbed the bottle and with her teeth opened it. She turned it upside down and poured the blue liquid on the wound. It was gone nearly instantly.

"Fucking hell! That's amazing! If I had some of these, I could have flown straight into the Allied Kingdom and blown their stupid parliament sky high. Maybe I could have eliminated their high command. I can only imagine the 203rd with these potions." Tanya could only imagine what these healing potions could have done to the war. She could imagine Imperial boots pushing through enemy lines. Those that become injured, whether serious or minor. With a single potion they would be back in the fight instantly. Unless they were killed instantly they would be unstoppable.

Rimuru narrowed his eyes a little at the dangerous glint in Tanya's eyes. I really hope she isn't some crazy warmonger. I already have enough bloodthirsty monsters to deal with. He kept those thoughts to himself, but shuddered when Tanya looked at him. She can't read minds can she?

Meeting Room within the Capital Building

Shuna set down three tea cups on the table with grace and perfect movements. She had stolen some glances at Benimaru and Tanya, when they had returned from their little trip. Benimaru's clothes had burned a little, but the most interesting thing was a small hole in his robes by his chest. Tanya on the other hand had dirt smeared all over her clothes and the sleeve of her right arm had a large tear in it.

"Thank you Shuna for the tea." Rimuru said with a smile. Shuna accepted the thanks and left the room. She knew that this was a private matter.

"Alight Benimaru, what do you think of Tanya now?"

"She is definitely strong at range, a perfect counter to me. But she lacks in close-quarters combat. Though I can imagine that is because she probably always fought at a distance usually." Benimaru said. He glanced at Tanya and saw her nod her head in agreement.

"I hate to admit it but I was trained to use a rifle. I have zero experience with bladed weapons except for bayonets. Also almost all aerial mage battles occur at a distance. On the ground I am at an incredible disadvantage, all of my training has to do with aerial combat, with the exception of infiltrating enemy trenches to capture a few of their soldiers for information." Tanya criticized herself. She wasn't upset to do so, after practice drills the instructor would always call on you to point out what you did wrong. If you could figure it out you were told to focus on that to improve. If you couldn't then all that awaited you was screaming and push-ups.

Rimuru glanced at Benimaru to see what he thought, but found the man completely confused. Ah right, as soon as she mentioned rifles and trenches he probably could no longer understand what was going on. Guess I'll have to step in for him.

"While I agree that your ground combat could definitely be improved, I think you could have beaten Benimaru if you had remained in the skies. He could only reach you with fire attacks at that distance while you could rain down some serious firepower. No pun intended. The only reason you were knocked out of the sky is because you had no idea what the Hell Flare was capable of." Rimuru concluded.

"I have to agree with Rimuru-sama, in the sky you were untouchable. I would have been practically helpless to your attacks. Not that they did much damage to me, other than that holy magic you used. It would have been a battle of endurance, would I be able to survive all of your attacks before you ran out of magicules. On the ground it isn't even a question needing to be asked. We both know I would win. Since this battle could not really determine who would win if we fought head to head, I guess it comes down to what plan you have for the armed forces if you become the commander-in chief." Benimaru said.

Now that is something I was hoping they would have asked in the first meeting. Tanya thought to herself. "Well I would need to know more details on the size of your forces, but in short this is what i would do. May I see a map?"

Rimuru spat one out of his stomach and unrolled it on the table. The Jura Tempest Federation lay almost directly in the middle of the continent. To the east was the massive Eastern Empire. To the west lay the small Blumund Kingdom, bordering the Jura Forest. Further west lay the Western Nations and the Holy Empire Ruberios. On the northwest lay the Farmus Kingdom. To the north was the Armed Nation of Dwargon, it had been marked as an ally by Rimuru. And finally to the southwest was the Sorcery Dynasty Sarion and directly south to the southeast was the various Demon Lord territories.

Tanya stared at the image for a long time before speaking. "So you have an alliance with the Armed Nation in the north, so security could be greatly reduced to the minimum required. Your focus should be on these Demon Lords, you told me they were strong and that humanity took them as a very serious threat."

Since the magic in this world is much more powerful, I'll just use my imagination. The standards from my world don't exist here so I'll have to learn from scratch while also doing my job. What have I gotten myself into. Maybe I should try and back out, maybe find a job in the city.

"Is it possible to detect magic signals using a receptor?" Tanya asked. If this was possible, then she could create a chain of outposts along the border, equipmented with magic detectors, that could serve as an early warning system.

"I don't think we have anything that does that. But it is possible to detect the aura monsters release. Most humans do not have a detectable aura, all adventures learn to hide it to hide from monsters." Rimuru smiled, he could see where Tanya was going with her idea.

"I could ask Kaijin and the other guys to research into making a magic detector that anyone could use to monitor their surroundings."

"If it is possible, then I would like to suggest digging large underground tunnels that house these magic detectors. This would also allow troops to remain hidden from enemy forces or scouts, while allowing them to move quickly through the forest. This would create a great observation line, and if needed, allow troops to engage with the enemy in gorilla warfare." Tanya smiled at her suggestion, she imagined a large system of tunnels that ran along the entire border of the country. With magic detectors they could alert the capital of any strange movements in the neighboring nations. Should enemy troops enter the forest, friendly forces could attack them. Using the thick forest as cover. When they needed to retreat, they could disappear in the tunnels below and move to another position to attack. It would be something similar to what the Americans faced in Vietnam.

Rimuru came to a similar conclusion, though without the historical knowledge. Tanya's suggestion simply implied it.

"You are an evil genius. Why didn't I think of that?" Rimuru and Tanya smirked at each other. Beinmaru took a little longer to imagine the strategy. His eyes widened in realization and he stared at Tanya with shock.

"I see you have realized the potential of my proposal, Benimaru." Tanya said, her smirk turning into a grin. "These primitive fools don't know what warfare is like in the future. So why don't we take advantage of that and give them a nasty surprise if they try something." Tanya's smile would have a certain Lieutenant Colonel shudder in fear.

Benimaru smiled as he imagined enemy troops being taken by surprise. He came to the conclusion to try and learn from Tanya.

"I must stress that these magic detectors will not be invisible. In my world observation waves could be traced back to their source if the crew wasn't careful. But I doubt many people or monsters will recognize they are being detected." Tanya wanted to make sure they didn't get too dependent on the system. "I say you should send regular patrols through the forest to keep these tunnels secret."

Deception would be the best way to keep their surveillance system secret. If an enemy sent scouts through the forest, their investigation would only report about the movements of our patrols.

"I agree with her plan." Benimaru said. He smiled at Tanya and extended his hand to her. "Though I don't want to give up my position, as long as you serve Rimuru-sama faithfully then I have no objections to you taking over." Benimaru extended his hand out to Tanya. She quickly reached out and shook his hand.

"I will do to the best of my ability. And can I ask you to work with me Benimaru?" Tanya asked. While she could apply some of the future technology to the defense of the nation, learning how monsters and humans fight in this world would be a challenge.

"I would be more than willing to help Tanya-sama." Benimaru said. As long as she worked for Rimuru he had no problems with her.

"Now that this is settled I guess I'll make it official." Rimuru said. Standing up he faced Tanya and straightened his back. Tanya noticed this and stood up as well. "I Rimuru Tempest name you Tanya Von Degurechaff as the Commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Jura Tempest Federation." Tanya thought that this was simply just a formality. So when her body began to glow she was shocked.

Tanya wasn't sure what happened, but she knew that deep within her soul something had changed. "Ah! That wasn't supposed to happen."Rimuru called out. He looked a little shocked.

"What wasn't supposed to happen?"

"I guess I accidentally named you."

"Huh?" Tanya was utterly confused. So Rimuru decided he should explain.

"Names are apparently very important in this world. When a monster is bestowed a name, they evolve and become stronger. This happens because the person naming them sacrifices a certain amount of magicules. This carves the name into their soul and evolves them." Rimuru explained. Sighing, he gave Tanya a look over. She had only grown slightly taller now. So nothing had changed too much.

"I thought that since you already had a name nothing would happen. But it seems I was wrong. You are now a little taller, probably have more magicules, and strength."

Tanya looked down and noticed that indeed she had grown a few inches. She was back to her height before she died. Compared to Rimuru she was around chest height, and Rimuru was pretty short himself.

"Huh, I grew a few inches. The way you spoke about it, most people would expect themselves to grow a lot more." Tanya said. She hoped she wouldn't be stuck at this height forever.

"Yeah it's pretty strange that you did not grow taller." Rimuru murmured, before letting out a strangled noise.

"What is it?" Tanya asked. Rimuru looked away from her before answering. "While you didn't grow in height too much you did um grow…" he trailed off.

Tanya looked down at herself to see what he meant, it took a second to register but she could see two small bumps pushing against her uniform from her chest. Her eyes widened and her face turned red. "Wa...what is this? H-how…" she was unable to say anything coherent.

Rimuru tried his best to not laugh at Tanya's hilarious expression. But was unable to stop a small chuckle from escaping. Tanya looked at him, her blush slowly fading. Her eyes glared holes into him.

Rimuru looked to Benimaru for help, but found the redhead sipping tea as if nothing was going on in the room. Benimaru! Oi stop pretending like nothing is happening!

Ah, this tea is quite good.

"I did not just hear a chuckle from you, did I Rimuru-sama?" Tanya asked. Her expression gave nothing away. Rimuru swore he could feel sweat running down his face, even though he couldn't sweat. "O-of course not Tanya, it must have been your imagination." Tanya starred at Rimuru for what seemed like eternity. She then sighed to herself. "I guess I must have imagined it."

"Y-yeah, must have imagined it." Rimuru let out a sigh of relief. He had survived, what he had survived, he didn't know.

Suddenly Rimuru felt an enormous pressure. "Alert large magical presence is heading in this direction." The Great Sage told him. Rimuru immediately ran out of the room, down the long hallways and outdoors.

Confused but alert, Tanya and Benimaru ran after him. Rimuru sprouted bat wings from his back and turned his head towards Benimaru. "Benimaru! Get Shion and Suoei over by me immediately." Benimaru didn't need to ask questions, the urgency in Rimuru's voice told him everything he needed to know.

Rimuru almost took off when Tanya spoke up. "What about me?" Rimuru whipped his head in her direction and remembered she was there. "Since you're here follow me."

The two took off into the air, Tanya followed Rimuru as he flew away from the city. In the distance both could see a pink beam quickly closing the distance. Tanya immediately began to climb. Rimuru called out to her. "Don't attack them, we don't have any idea what their intentions are!"

"Are you sure about that? Because the amount of magicules I am sensing off this thing is huge!" Tanya yelled back. She had her magic prepared to shoot off multiple attacks.

"Just wait a second. I'll do the talking." Rimuru said. Tanya reluctantly descended with Rimuru to the ground. Almost immediately after she touched the ground, the pink beam crashed into the ground a distance away from them. A huge crater formed from the impact. Rimuru and Tanya watched as the smoke cleared, their bodies tense.

"Greeting! I am the one and only Dragonoid, also known as The Destroyer. The Demon Lord Milim Nava!" The pink-haired young girl gave a toothy grin.

Rimuru raised his hand, silently telling Tanya to hold off on any action. "Hello there Demon Lord Milim what business do you have with me?"

Tanya watched as Rimuru casually greeted the Demon Lord. She wasn't sure if she should call him a moron or brave. The aura that was radiating from the girl was immense. Tanya was certain that she could kill them all without breaking a sweat. So Tanya naturally hoped Rimuru's casual attitude didn't set the girl off.

"I saw your fight with the Orc Disaster. So I wanted to drop by." Milim said. Rimuru now looked a little worried. "You saw my fight?"

"Yup, and I wanted to drop by to introduce myself." Milim said, her eyes gleaming. "You can suppress your aura all you want, my Dragon Eye can see through it all. I know you are the one who defeated the Orc Disaster." Then Milim glanced at Tanya.

Tanya visibly tensed, now that she was the focus of the Demon Lord. "What strange clothing you have. Hmm are you a noble or something?" Milim said. She tapped a finger on her cheek, deep in thought.

Milim would never finish her thought as Ranga jumped out of Rimuru's shadow. Then Shion, Souei and Benimaru appeared from the treeline. Ranga grabbed Rimuru and threw him on his back. Meanwhile Shion leapt into the air and brought her giant sword down on Milim. The young girl grabbed the blade with her bare hands. The ground beneath Milim cracked from the impact.

Shion leapt away as Souei wrapped Milim in sticky steel thread. Benimaru unleashed a Hell Flare engulfing Milim in black fire. Tanya, surprised at the sudden attack, decided to help, it was now or never if they wanted to beat the Demon Lord. Flying high into the sky Tanya yelled for everyone to get away. Benimaru was the first to move, followed by Souei, who dragged Shion along. Tanya then used the only magic she dared not use. Mostly because there had been no reason yet. "Nuclear Strike Magic! Nuclear Canon!" Using her right hand to aim, Tanya unleashed an orange energy beam.

With a thunderous roar the beam impacted the hell flare. An enormous explosion rocked the earth around them. The surrounding environment was obliterated from the shockwave and heat.

Tanya watched the smoke bellow carefully. Her thought acceleration was running as fast as she could make it. Then a pink blur, burst out of the smoke. Tanya just barely dodged Milim's punch. Tanya attempted to retreat from the Demon Lord but instead received a powerful punch to the gut. Tanya crashed to the ground from the force. Her vision was blurry and the ringing in her ears made it impossible to hear anything.

She could see the blurry form of Rimuru approaching the Demon Lord. They seemed to stand around for a while before Rimuru fell into a combat stance. Tanya saw a golden glow appear in his right hand before he charged the Demon Lord. At that moment Tanya lost consciousness.

One Hour Later

Tanya groaned in pain as she slowly regained consciousness. She could feel her head resting on a large pillow. It felt like a bean-bag chair. Tanya turned over to her stomach and wrapped her arms around the pillow. She buried her head deep into it and sighed in bliss.

"Ah, it is good to see your awake Tanya." Rimuru's voice reached her ears. He seemed to be very close by. Opening her eyes, Tanya realized that she had wrapped her arms around and buried her head into Rimuru's slime form.

She quickly moved away from the slime and pretended like nothing had happened. It didn't work at all because the room was full of people. She recognized Rimuru, Benimaru, Souei, Shion, though she didn't know her name yet. Shuna was also present, along with a few female goblins, serving tea to everyone.

Glancing to her right, Tanya immediately tensed up. Sitting on the other side was a pouting Milim. Demon Lord Milim. "Relax Tanya, Milim is a friend now."

"Best friends!" Milim shouted.

"Right, best friends." Rimuru said. It didn't sound all too convincing. "To make a long story short. Milim here will be living here for a while." Tanya could not believe how quickly the situation had changed. Last time she saw Rimuru, he was charging Milim in battle. Now they were best friends?

"This is all too much." Tanya muttered to herself. Unfortunately Milim heard her. "Ah, relax Tanya, it was only a punch. Trust me if I went serious this town would be ashes." Milim said with a toothy grin.

"Oi! Don't go joking around like that!" Rimuru scolded her, causing Milim to pout. What is she a child? Is she a child? What type of crazy fucking world gives a child this much power. Tanya shook her head in disbelief.

"Anyway now that you are awake, Milim would you like to say something to Tanya?" Rimuru said. He gave Milim a side glance. Milim for her part seemed to shrink under his gaze.

"Right, Tanya I would like to apologize for punching you into the ground." Milim said. It was possibly the most insincere apology Tanya had ever heard. But she accepted it because it was Demon Lord Milim. She wasn't stupid enough to piss her off.

"Your apology is accepted. I do hope we can start over on more friendly terms." Was Tanya's diplomatic reply. Milim seemed to accept it in good faith.

"Well now that I've apologized we can hang out now, right Rimuru?" Milim asked. Rimuru sighed to himself at how much of a pain it was going to be dealing with Milim. Then he glanced at Tanya and formed an idea. Forgive me Tanya, but it's either me or you.

"Milim why don't you hang out with Tanya. She has only just arrived in the city too. You guys could explore the city together, how does that sound." Rimuru said. Tanya stared at him before realizing he was throwing her under the bus. You bastard! She is your best friend! Why don't you hang out with her! Tanya raged internally. Since Milim was nearby she dared not say anything to make her angry.

"Fine, but you're gonna hang out with me when we get back, ok?" Milim said. As she dragged a struggling Tanya.

"Yes, yes I hear you. I promise, when you get back we will hang out." Rimuru said as he waved goodbye to Tanya and Milim.

Tanya couldn't believe Rimuru had just dumped his responsibility on her. She was now going to be in grave danger the whole day.

"Now Tanya let's go find a place to eat. I wonder what tasty meals this place has." Milim said, as she dragged Tanya by the hand. But as they walked the streets, Tanya realized that for the two days she has been in this world, she hasn't eaten once. She didn't know why she did not feel hungry. But she guessed it had to do with her being an elf now, perhaps they did not eat too often or had no need for daily meals.

Tanya could smell food being prepared from the various restaurants that lined the street, she and Milim had turned to. Tanya could not stop her mouth from watering. Milim tugged at her hand and pointed at the closest restaurant. "Hey Tanya wanna try this one first?" Tanya nodded her head and they walked into the restaurant.

Tanya genuinely smiled, a toothy smile, as the food was placed in front of her. Perhaps hanging out with Milim won't be too bad after all. She thought to herself, as they both dug into their meal.

And that's the end of chapter three. I don't know if Tanya is capable of smiling genuinely like that but I think even the most hardened of people can smile at the thought of a good meal. I hope she didn't come off as OC. Also in the light novel (I don't know if this shows up in the manga or anime.) I noticed that Rimuru really likes to give his responsibilities onto other people. He justifies it by saying that it is the right of the ruler to distribute responsibilities onto his subordinates. Pretty hilarious to me.
