When I was born, there was talk among the Angels. Apparently, I was a highclass Angel and they're are born with a mark of the sun on their cheek.

My father, head of the Vega Clan and the most powerful Angel clan, said it was a blessing from God himself. Highclass Angels are very rare and are only born once every hundred years.

My mother, said it was a curse however. Highclass Angels are filled with great power and sometimes they will span out of control.

As I was growing up, some Angels looked up to me. Others, didn't even pay a glance. My sister, Trina Vega, was overcome with jealousy. She would always ask me why wasn't it her or why was I the one chosen.

Cat Valentine, member of the Valentine Clan and the second most powerful Angel Clan, was the only one who didn't care that I was special. She accepted me as who I was.

Along with her boyfriend Robbie Shapiro, member of the Shapiro Clan and third most powerful Angel Clan, they were my only real friends I had.

About a couple years later, during the month of my eighteenth birthday, I got my wings. It hurt but I was finally happy to be a full grown Angel.

What the other Angels and I noticed though, was my wings were a different color than most wings. While thier's was a pure white, mine was gold with white streaks. My halo was also different, with a pure white instead of the usual gold.

My parents were skeptical until they found a magic bound book about Highclass Angels. Apparently, we have different color wings and along with them knowing I have more power than a regular Angel, there is also a passage that says there is also a Highclass Demon that is born on the same day as the Angel.

I was shocked by this when the book said I'd have to kill that Demon. I didn't want to but as my parents read on, it told them that if I don't kill it, it will try to rule our world and enslave the Angel race.

So, for months on end, my parents were wary, watching the sky for hours, as if the Demon would appear any moment. Finally, one evening, as I was sitting outside, she came.

It was like the sky itself worshipped her. It instantly darkened as she flew, her tail trailing behind her. The Demon's horns were long and pointy, but what I noticed the most was the crescent moon mark on her cheek.

She tucked in her midnight black wings and landed, making the Angel's in the area scatter. Silence washed over the Angel town and I shivered.

The Demon's eyes scanned the world around her, until her narrowed green eyes fell on me.

"Oh shit." I mumbled and tried to run. She caught up with me instantly, and grabbed me from behind. Her claws scraped my arms and my wings were getting crushed against her chest.

I struggled and managed to get one of my arms free. The Demon tried to get a hold of me, but I yanked my other arm out her grasp and unfurled my wings. I took flight and turned my head. The Demon was right on my tail, wings flapping.

"Why are trying to run?" She yelled, her clawed hands trying to grab me again.

I stopped in mid-flap and turned around. She stopped and looked at me.

"What now? Do you finally want to fight me? Your people are down there waiting for you to come down."

I gulped. Not because I was scared. But because of the Demon. Because I was running from her, I didn't fully get a look at her. She was beautiful.

Don't get me wrong, I have never seen a Demon before, but this one, this one was breathtaking.

"Come on! What's got you so quiet?" The Demon growled. She swished her tail impatiently.

I blinked and met her gaze. "I have never seen a Demon like you."

The Demon's eyes flashed with surprise. Then something else I couldn't make out. A faint blush scampered across her features, but was gone in a second.

"Was that supposed to make me flustered, Angel?" She barked. "I'm here to kill you! Not flirt."

After she said those words, the Demon tucked in her wings and flew at me. We collided and on instinct, I snapped out my wings and wrapped them around us.

"What the hell are you doing?!" I heard the Demon screech. We were hurtling toward the ground at an alarmingly speed and I was not prepared to die.

"I am not dealing with this shit." The Demon mumbled, angrily.

She wiggled out of my wing's grasp and snapped her's out. I felt her arms wrap around my shoulders and then my body pressed against her's.

A massive blush flared up on my face and I looked up at the Demon's face. Her jaw was set and she looked like she was in thought.

When we touched the ground, I let go of the Demon and stepped back. The look on her face made me shiver.

I heard her sigh. "We were supposed to kill each other." The Demon met my eyes. "Yet, you run from me, try flirt with me, then try protect me?"

"Actually I-"

The Demon held a finger up. I went silent.

"This is not the time to argue."she said. Her eyes reflected something in them. Regret maybe?

"I have been sent here to kill you, yet you don't seem to fight back. Why?" She asked.

I levelled my gaze with her's. Blue-green met chocolate brown as I answered her question. "A couple months ago, I learned that I was an Angel assigned to kill a Demon. I wasn't prepared for anything like this at all and I never wanted to kill anyone."

The Demon nodded.

"That's why I ran. And the reason for flirting with you, I..." I trailed off.

The Demon looked at me, understanding. "I was told that the Angel was a menace, born to kill us all. I can see why they were wrong."

Suddenly, voices came drifting to the pair's ears. The Demon looked at me. "Tell your people that I ran. That I will come another day to kill you."

And with that, she flew off, snapping her wings open.

I blinked and then yelled quickly. "Wait! What's your name?"

The Demon turned and smirked. "Jade West."
