Welcome, everyone.
It took me some time, but I finally decided to write it. The AN will be at the end of the chapter.
Enjoy.
Chapter 1. Forgotten, but alive
Humans.
Monsters.
Magicals.
Gods.
And many more creatures walked the surface of the earth for many millennia. Some of them longer and some shorter. Almost most of them decided to disappear into the background, while the humans lived almost unaware of all of the supernatural things going on around the world.
Monsters of many different pantheons walked amongst others under the protection of magic that made them appear normal to mortals who had no place in the world of magic and gods. Most of their lives were dedicated to hunting godlings, children of gods that decided to take mortals to their beds. Demigods while a lot more powerful than normal humans, couldn't really defend themselves without training so many of them fell before even realizing what they were.
But monsters were not the only ones in hiding. A long time ago even before the times of current gods, magic appeared in the world. Changing it and giving life to many new creatures and an evolved race of humans who could use the energy known as magic. Many tried to find similarities between monsters and magical, but in the end, it was decided that those two, apart from some similar looks, didn't have much in common.
For ages, magical and normal humans lived together in peace, but like always good things end quickly and magical were also forced to go into hiding behind their wards. Every now and then normal humans could spot some of the magical creatures, but those rare situations were quickly dealt with by the use of mind magic. In the end magic users managed to get themselves a peaceful life if you ignored the wars troubling them.
Then there were gods. Powerful entities that wielded the powers above any human depending on their domains. No one really knew how the first of Primordial gods were born, but after some time no one really cared about this fact. Many gods formed different pantheons, ruling their territories as long as they had believers.
Even with all their might some of the pantheons began to fade away from the real world leaving only small parts of their religions behind. Be it more powerful monsters or gods whose domains let them survive even without the believers. In the end, only a few pantheons remained who didn't lose much and could rule their territories as they did in ancient times.
Unfortunately, there was one more thing that all of the races, be it, humans, magical, monsters, or even gods feared.
Demons. Beings that did not belong to the earth realm. Beings that appeared out of nowhere ad began destroying everything in their path so they could conquer the new world. Demons were creatures that embodied the evils of the world. Some of them not even as powerful as normal humans, but others were capable of destroying even gods that stood in their way.
Thankfully at some point in history miracle happened and after a sacrifice of one of the higher beings, the demons were once again pushed back to their own realm. Even then the demons were very determined to come back and some of them managed to pass the barrier between those two words. Some of the demons went to destroy more of the earth but were quickly dealt with by those who decided to protect the earth. Still, there were types of demons who would only strike from the shadows and survive on the earth for many years.
In the end, life somehow became organized and peaceful for all the races.
But like always, good things end very fast. Leaving those who everyone forgot about to save them all.
Such a person was one seven, almost eight-year-old boy living in Privet Drive 4 in Surrey. He was a small slightly malnourished child, but overall everything was fine with him if you ignored the fact that he lived in a cupboard under the stairs.
Ever since the black-haired child was five very weird dreams began to appear during his sleep. At first, like every child, he just ignored them even when some of them were very gruesome for someone of his age. Most of those dreams showed him battles of beings with unparalleled power. Beings that could wield weapons and elements like they were extensions of their bodies.
After some time Harry accepted those dreams as an escape from the real world. Even though he didn't like to watch the parts were people died or other brutal scenes that were showed to him, Harry still wanted to see more. His life with his relatives wasn't too good and the boy welcomed any way to forget about it.
It wasn't to say that the boy was abused. No, even his relatives were above such things. They might hate him, give him a lot of chores and sometimes leave him without a full meal, but they would never go further. Still, the lack of any familial love and the rare bulling from Harry's cousin made the young boy's life quite hard.
Today was another day where Harry woke up from his weird dream. Unlike most of the time, this dream didn't leave him scared after seeing people fight. No, this time Harry's dream showed him a village of people with wings. The same people that appeared in most of his previous dreams. In this village, Harry could see the warriors training and performing feats that the boy could only name as magic.
Harry really wanted to believe that his dreams were even partially true, but like always he woke up in the same cupboard where the reality hit him again. Thankfully it was summer and today Harry would only need to complete a few small chores and then he would be free to walk around the neighborhood.
That was exactly what young Harry did. He prepared breakfast for his relatives, completed the assigned chores, and then his aunt Petunia finally gave him permission to go out and have some free time.
Like always Harry used this opportunity to travel to the nearest park that was connected to a bigger forest. The black-haired boy always spent his free time there thinking of his dreams and how his life would look if everything in them was real.
After Harry arrived at the park he spent some time walking around to observe the people walking there. Sometimes he would glare from hiding at the happy families that spent their time together. He was jealous and angry, but like always the feelings went away after a while and changed into sadness. There was nothing that he could do about his. He was after all only a child.
Unfortunately, Harry didn't notice, that during the time it took him to calm down, he walked further into the forest. It was like something was calling out to him and when Harry finally noticed the change in scenery, he decided to follow this weird feeling.
In the end, he came upon a small clearing in the forest. Nothing would be unnatural about this place if it wasn't for the small line of distorted space that floated a little bit above the earth. The anomaly began to get bigger and bigger with every second and Harry couldn't tear his eyes from the supernatural event. It looked similar to some of the magic that the beings in his dreams used, but this one was a lot weaker.
Harry watched the distorted space for another few minutes before it expanded for the last time and spit a small pure black figure out. In the next second the anomaly disappeared and Harry was left standing before a small black dog-like creature that looked like it wanted to tear Harry to pieces.
The black-haired boy didn't really know what happened next as it was almost like his body moved by itself when the black dog jumped at him. Even with his small posture and weak body, Harry dodged all of the attacks without bigger problems.
Everything that was happening was to fast for the young boy that felt like a passager in his own body. He knew that it wasn't him who dodged and ran around the black creature like it was the slowest thing in the world. He knew that it wasn't him who managed to punch the dog square in its face without breaking anything in his own body. And Harry knew that it definitely wasn't him when a weird purple-black sword appeared in his hands which he used to stab the creature and kill it.
In the end, Harry still didn't know what happened and his mind was so confused that it wasn't a surprise when it shut down and the boy blacked out.
"Wake up child," Harry heard a soft voice speak, "It is finally time that we talk face to face."
"Wha..." the black-haired boy groaned as he pushed himself up. His jaw opened wide when he saw that he was neither in his cupboard nor in the park. He was in a pure white place without any walls and he had no clue how he got there. In his dreams, he never had his own body so it had to be something else.
Just then memories of what happened in the forest rushed into his mind and the boy couldn't help but ask, "How? Where am I?"
A sound of soft laughter made Harry turn in its direction to see who was here with him. To Harry's surprise, it was a woman. She was pretty tall and was very beautiful. Harry would swear that she was an angel when he looked at her perfect face with violet eyes and pure black hair. The boy was sure that aunt Petunia would throw a fit that being that pretty was impossible. The thought amused him greatly and the boy couldn't help but grin widely.
The woman evidently saw the change of emotion and smirked mischievously, "Oh, and what is so funny little one?"
Harry not knowing what to do quickly lost his smile and averted his eyes from the woman. He didn't want to make her angry.
"None of that little one, I wouldn't dare to hurt my successor. I am here to help you," the woman spoke softly as she approached Harry.
"Help me? Successor?" the boy whispered and looking back to the woman.
She nodded, "Yes help you. You see Harry, I and another waited for this moment for a long time and there is a lot that I need to tell you."
Harry frowned slightly as he tried to understand what the woman meant, "But I still don't understand. Where am I and why am I here? Is it another weird dream of mine?"
The woman sighed lightly and then sat down next to Harry signaling him to do the same, "I know that you are young Harry, but I need you to listen very closely. Everything that I will say from now on is the truth and I can prove it to you. Can you do that for me and just try to listen? I promise that I will explain everything," she said sincerely.
Harry thought for a moment before nodding. There was no reason to refuse the woman and Harry thought that she seemed sincere.
The woman gave him a warm smile and began, "First let me begin with introductions. My name is Rigna and I was the goddess of the Hunt, Battle, and all of the supernatural creatures," when she saw that Harry wanted to speak Rigna stopped him, "Just let me explain everything then you will be able to ask questions, okay?"
Harry nodded and Rigna smiled again, "Good boy. Like I said I was a goddess. But as that doesn't tell you much let me begin from something simpler... Harry, you remember all of your dreams that began about three years ago. You saw many things in them. Battles, magic, creatures out of horror stories, and much more. There is nor a really easy way to tell you, but they are all real. Magic exists, demons that you saw in the visions are also real. For the proof about demons, you only need to look at your earlier encounter in the forest."
Before Rigna could continue Harry whispered, "So it was a demon?"
The woman nodded not at all annoyed that Harry interrupted her, "Yes Harry. It was a demon although a very weak one. A normal human would be able to kill it. Normally demons can't enter the realm of earth, but after the Great War the barrier between our words was left weakened and sometimes a rift opens that demons use to enter our realm."
She stopped and shook her head visibly frustrated, "There is just so much to tell you Harry and not enough time. I wanted for you to see the visions of teachings of your race so you would be better prepared. But in the end, it didn't work and you only saw the battles and the bloodshed."
She then whispered a few words under her breath and calmed down, "I am really sorry to do this to you, but I just don't have enough time," then without any warning, the woman touched Harry's forehead and flashes of visions began to play before his eyes.
His parents, Lily and James Potter. The wizarding world that was somewhere in hiding. And finally, the night where everything changed. He saw how the evil man killed his mother, he saw how the same man tried to kill him only to fail when something impossible happened. When the weird light that killed Harry's mother hit him in the forehead, two other lights appeared and entered Harry's body. One of them violet, like Rigna's eyes and the other blood red.
Finally, the visions stopped and Harry looked at Rigna with wide eyes, "Those were my memories?"
The woman nodded, "Mostly. I awakened some of your baby memories to show you who you really are and the last vision was from my point of view."
"So I am what? A wizard? That can't be true. Magic only exists in stories in my dreams. You are lying to me and it is only a dream," Harry shouted angrily.
The woman looked in sadness at the boy. If only he had a more normal upbringing then it wouldn't be so hard for him to understand. When she saw the tears that were beginning to fall from the boy's eyes she quickly scooped him into her arms and held him tenderly.
"I know it is hard Harry and I am truly sorry for doing this to you, but I need you to be brave now. Please can you do it?" Rigna asked tenderly.
Harry released a few more tears and then looked back at Rigna. She really looked like she wanted to help him, but could Harry really believe her? During his whole life, he was told that nothing supernatural existed and only his dreams made him hope. But now the woman showed him his parents, how they really died. She gave him a part of his past that he probably wouldn't ever get back if it wasn't for her.
Still, Harry wasn't sure. He was only a kid and yet here he was speaking with a goddess about things from fairytales.
Deciding to give the woman one more chance, Harry spoke, "You said that you could give me a proof of what you said."
Rigna nodded, "That's right. Tell me Harry, do you remember anything weird happening around you. Especially when you were scared or angry. Think Harry, think."
Harry frowned, weird things happening around him?
...
...
...
And then he suddenly remembered the moment in school when his teacher was unfair and his hair changed color to blue. He remembered how he was chased by Dudley's gang and Harry somehow teleported from the ground to the school's roof. And he remembered how his hair grew up in one night after aunt Petunia cut it all.
His eyes again grew wide, "It was magic?"
The woman sighed in relief and nodded, "Yes Harry. It wasn't anything powerful but it was magic. The magic that was given to you by your parents, the same parents that unfortunately died defending you from a mad man."
Harry nodded sadly as he again remembered the vision of his mother's death, "Okay, so let's say that I believe in magic now. What does it have to do with me being your successor and demons? I don't understand."
Rigna smiled and ran her hand softly through Harry's hair, "You see, little one. A long time ago demons managed to find their way to earth and no one wanted to fight them. Everyone was too scared to lose their people and different races wouldn't ally with each other because of their stupid pride. Pantheons of gods just defended their territories, but there was no one to oppose their main forces. So as an independent goddess whose one domain was of supernatural creatures, I decided that I needed to stop this.
With the help of another powerful being, I created a completely new race. A race that the only purpose was to fight and hunt demons. It cost me most of my power but I did it nonetheless. They named themselves Akiari which in their language means 'to Hunt'. Unfortunately in the beginning they were not powerful enough so it took many years of battles and bloodshed before the Demon King was killed and the barrier between our worlds was sealed again. Most of the Akiari died during the war, but some of them remained and created their own villages on Earth. You saw one of them in your vision."
Rigna then growled in anger, "Unfortunately I don't know how many of Akiari are left as I was killed sometime after the war ended."
Harry's eyes widened, "Killed? But you are here."
The woman nodded, "Yes I am here, but as you asked before here is not exactly the real world. Right now we are very deep inside your mind. Do you remember the two balls of light that appeared when the green light hit you?" Harry nodded, "The violet ball was my soul, while the red one was another being that decided to use the occasion to come back."
"Come back?" Harry inquired.
"Yes, come back. You see after gods or other very powerful beings die for the final time, they fade to another realm where they spent the eternity. When I was killed I ended up there, but I managed to leave a bit of my power on earth so one day when the occasion appears I will be able to come back."
"I and the other being succeded when the mad man attacked your family. The spell that hit you shattered your soul and we used this moment to merge with your shattered soul and fix it. The process was long and only now it is mostly finished. Thankfully when you found the demon I managed to force the process to finish and take control of your body."
"So that was you. I knew I couldn't move like that," exclaimed Harry.
"Of course it was me. Though I think that if I haven't interfered, the other being would. The sword was also mine, but as my successor, it is yours now," explained Rigna
Harry instantly protested, "But I can't just carry a sword around and who is the other being you keep talking about."
Rigna frowned, "I am not sure. Whoever it is, is almost as powerful as I am and is hiding its presence. Don't worry it can't harm you. You are one being now and soon you will meet. And about the sword... As I don't have much time left, I will use the rest of my power to give you something that should help you in your adventures plus a small bonus. Think of it as a final goodbye gift and an apology for making your life harder than it would be."
The woman again touched Harry's forehead and the boy felt a strange rush of power.
"I completed the merging process, you are no longer a human but an Akiari. Your magic will work differently than previously and some of your features may change. Make me proud little one. I am really sorry that I couldn't explain more, but now the visions of lessons should appear as they should have. Take them seriously and grow stronger, the world is not a friendly place. Goodbye Harry."
With that Rigna slowly disappeared in particles of light and Harry was left alone. The boy not knowing what to do after the only person that was nice to him disappeared, sat down, and cried. He cried for his parents, he cried for Rigna who probably disappeared forever and he cried for himself as he still was completely unsure about this whole situation.
Finally, after a few minutes, the boy fell asleep and faded out from his mind only to wake up to the same forest clearing with a sword and the body of a disappearing demon.
Many miles away in the magical hospital of St. Mungos a lone healer sat in his office. Like every day he dealt with a few patients and now he had some time to go through the files of his older patients. He just opened another file when another Healer came through the door.
"Healer Decker, a patient in the 'Coma and Heavy damage' ward just awoke," the man exclaimed loudly.
Healer Decker quickly stood up from his position and addressed the other healer, "Who?"
The man paused for a moment looking unsure, "Charlus Potter."
End
So here you go people. I know that some of the conversation between Rigna and Harry could be confusing but don't worry I will explain everything as we go forward.
This is the rewrite of my very first story. I can tell you that with the number of changes I made I should probably think of it as a completely new story instead of a rewrite. Apart from the idea, most things will be different.
Apart from that this version like the previous one will have a gamer system. It will be very different than the last one and the one in my other story "Grimm's Evolution". There won't be a lot of numbers here as I mixed a few different systems to create something new. Some of you might have seen something similar but I assure you that some of the things will be original. I don't want the system to be the main part of the story, just a tool for Harry to use.
Yes, I am going with Charlus and Dorea Potter as Harry's grandparents. I know it is not canon, but I don't really care. It is fanfiction and I can do whatever I want plus it works better for the plot.
I probably missed something when I was writing the chapter, but it was harder than I expected.
I hope that you enjoyed the chapter and like the rewrite. If no then meh. I tried.
The gamer system will appear in the next chapter for those who are curious. If you have any questions leave it in a review or send me a PM.
This is it. Have a good day/night.
