Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Dusty Demons. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own X men. Marvel and a few others do.
When Sal woke up, it wasn't in the swamp that he had decided to pick as a grave.
"I don't know if the kid is gutsy… or just plain stupid." Logan stated as Xavier hummed.
"He's as scared as anyone would be, Logan... you may leave if you wish." Sal opened his blood red eyes which signified him awakening entirely as he slowly rubbed at his head.
"Ow…" Sal muttered as he looked around. he slowly noticed both Xavier and Logan.
"Easy, kid." Logan stated as Sal blinked before Logan sighed with annoyance.
It was impossible not to know who the X-men were, if someone wanted to blame mutants, it would be the X-Men. They were only the second most hated thing in New York besides Spider-Man.
"Your X-Men!" Logan rolled his eyes once more and nodded as Xavier rolled forward.
The ripped brown jacket and blue jeans already told Xavier that the boy had been on the run constantly, never giving himself time to rest.
"Yes, that is the more… 'official' moniker our group employs… tell me, what is your name? I am Professor Charles Xavier and this is Logan." Xavier's voice held no amount of anger.
Many of the school took the name as a mark of pride to be named such a name and were proud of being christened with such a title.
"Samuel Rovere… my friends used to call me 'Sal', least, the only friend I had did." Sam stated, his voice was a lot hoarser and rougher, like sandpaper.
Sam still remembered the last time he saw his friend Derik, the sound of clubs and broken glass… just pure screams and a body, killed in the scuffle, the final flame that ignited the powder keg of the peaceful mutant rally.
He recalled being talked into it, but he couldn't have possibly known, he didn't want to be there already.
"My, you have been through a lot, haven't you?" Sam was called back to reality by Xavier who dropped his finger from his brain.
"I… yes. you…" Xavier nodded as he looked over the teenage mutant.
A boy constantly running from city to city, fearing his powers so much he barely paused enough to get food. It was clear he didn't even want to take a bus or such out of fear his powers would take the lives of all the occupants aboard.
So many people, so much dust and smoke.
"Sam, you are capable of controlling dust and dirt, correct?" Sam looked at the tv behind them, showing him.
Showing the storms, he had created over the years. A big reason the MRU hunted him down, every grain reminded Xavier of snow. People feared mutants because of their power, thinking every single one would kill people.
"Yeah, I haven't been able to control it." Sam rubbed at his arms, constantly looking around the room.
"We are safe, my boy. This local has had more… destructive visitors here. I can assure you, none of us will be harmed by your gift… your abilities are the exact reason I sent Logan to retrieve you." Xavier stated to Sam who nodded before hesitantly lowering his arms from his sides.
If it wasn't clear to Sam, Xavier was offering him a place at the school, they had already started to recruit an influx of teenage mutants who took to calling themselves the 'New Mutants.' The news, however, labeled them 'X-Corps'.
It only helped to try and add to the ranks of the school. Sam seemed to realize the intent before frowning.
"How am I going to control my powers? everywhere I go, people get hurt, no matter what I do, they get hurt. That's why I went to Florida… because…" Sam didn't need to finish his sentence.
It was quite clear the boy didn't intend to stay anywhere, it was over 90 degrees in Florida… if Sam knew this? oh, that didn't sit well at all.
Xavier was horrified, the poor boy was so terrified of hurting someone, he had gone somewhere both to be left alone, and possibly to…
"Sam. My school is specifically to help people like you. I've already gotten a new group of students… how old are you?" Xavier watched the black-haired boy cock his head to the side with amusement.
"19, why?" Xavier turned to Logan who shook his head.
He already knew who Charles would compare him to, and he had no idea where she was… then again, she could handle herself… his son, however?
Sam looked between the duo, curious as to what would happen next.
He didn't know Xavier already enrolled him, and that he would meet the ones he called his friends.
That said, he hadn't met the one ally he'd know as both his girlfriend… and the most dangerous partner he could ask for.
Speaking of said mutant at the moment?
Author notes
Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out Dust does have some powerful abilities, but he is a rookie. Next chapter is also going to be in 2-3 weeks maybe and will show… well, you guys probably know, fighting against Weapon X and its minions and set up Dust joining the X-Men and his costume. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
Ps: I'm doing either Psylocke or Magic next week.
