*Hermione looked at the red potion that sat on the counter top. It was really a rather pretty color and it looked so innocent but she knew that it was anything but innocent, it would take the life of the fetus in her tummy. She sighed again and thought back to her life, she was doing well at work and had a small apartment. She fit perfectly in it but when Loki had been there it was cramped and the thought that a baby meant that she would need to live on a tighter budget, get a new apartment, think about schooling the child. She wasn't even sure if there was schooling offered to witches and wizards under the age of eleven, no! She most definitely couldn't be someone's mother.

Mother's were older than she was, they cooked well, they could sew, knit and crochet. She could barely pick out clothes that made her look good none the less make clothes. She took a deep breath and walked over to the counter, she would have plenty of time in the future to have children now was not the time for it. She picked up the deep red potion and held it up to her eyes watching it swirl around and around, she felt guilt crawl up her spine but shook her head. She downed the whole potion in one go and then put the phial back down, it tasted like overly ripe strawberries but didn't come back up and with that in mind Hermione left the hospital to go back to work.*

Loki stomped in to the throne room and looked at his brother for the answer to his daily question. Thor shook his head to indicate that their father had yet to be found and once again Loki growled out his irritation. He and Thor had come back to Asguard to find it in disarray, Odin had learned of their plans and had fled but not before disabling most of their soldiers. It had taken almost three weeks before they had enough people to go in search of him, Loki had led one group while Thor took another. There was no sign of him anywhere but that hadn't broken Loki's spirit, not until a year had gone by and there was nothing new that came forward.

"Where is he?" He snapped at his brother "Why can't we find him?"

"I don't know" Thor answered, he looked at the pale, thin man standing before him before waving his new wife away from him "Loki, brother, have you looked in at Hermione?"

"I've not searched her out since we left" He answered "You know that"

"You could go back to her" Thor told him "I would tell you what's going on here..."

"I will not leave" He snapped "I will see this to the end!'

"But she..." Thor tried again "Why...you don't have to be here, you could live normally with her"

"I cannot" He said "Brother, are you really so stupid, isn't it the reason you left your own mortal behind?"

"I left Jane behind because I was to be king" Thor said "There was no one else..."

"I COULD HAVE BEEN KING!" Loki screamed, scaring one of the ladies that waited on them and who constantly gave Loki goo-goo eyes.

"Not this again" Thor said "Am I going to have to worry about you again?"

"I don't care about being king" He lied "I want Odin dead"

"You could be with her" Thor tried again.

"As a human" Loki spat out in detest "I would have to give up my claim as a god to be a demi-god and die when she does, no matter the age"

"You would have her suffer then?!" Thor snapped angrily "She took care of you, took you in, kept you from public eye and yet brought you out...she gave you everything she had and you would see her suffer without you there because you want to remain a god!"

"I want her to be a goddess" Loki yelled "I want her to live forever, with me...here in Asguard!"

"Its not possible" Thor said "You either are a goddess or you aren't"

"She can be immortal" Loki insisted "I will help with that"

~~(( ))~~Four Years Later~~(( ))~~

Hermione was in a deep sleep, lying on her comfortable queen-sized bed. In her dream she was lying in Loki's arms, just listening to him talk about Asguard as he had on many occasions before. She knew it was a dream even while in her dream because in the four long years it had been she had not seen nor heard from him. Apparently, his promise to try to come back to her was a lie, she had been easy though, he was a man (god) and had wanted nothing more than a good lay and he had gotten it. Sighing she rolled over and looked in front of her closing her eyes quickly when her door opened, she pulled the blankets over her head and smiled to herself.

"MAMA!" A little voice demanded her attention "ARE YOU AWAKE?!"

"No" Hermione answered with a giggle.

"You are too" She said "I heard you!" Hermione pushed the blankets down and looked at her beautiful black haired three year old daughter.

"Liddy-bug" She said "It's awfully early in the morning"

"Mama" She whined "You said we could Uncle Hawwy"

"It's only" Hermione looked at the clock and was surprised to see that Liddy-bug had allowed her to sleep till nearly eight "Seven forty-five"

"MAMA!" She all but growled "Come on!" She sounded as if she were tortured and hardly got out of the house which wasn't even close to the truth.

"Fine" Hermione got out of bed and followed her little demon out the door.

Hermione had taken the abortion potion and was surprised to find the morning sickness still there. She went back to the hospital and took another potion and then another and finally she gave up and at three months along she started researching. She found that her baby was likely protected by her fathers blood, he was a god and that made the child a demi-god and possibly immortal. When the child reached the age of full maturity seventeen or eighteen she would have the opportunity to be an immortal like her father or mortal like the mother. The baby had been protected all through the pregnancy and Hermione wasn't going to try to kill her now obviously. Though, the baby's will to live did inspire her name which had been written on the certificate as Lucky Lidia Red Granger even though she was often only referred to as Lidia or Liddy-bug.

"Can we go after bweakfist" Lidia asked, still having problems pronouncing her 'r's.

"Yes" Hermione said.

"Mama" Lidia said quietly which usually meant that she was going to ask a question that Hermione didn't want to answer.

"Yes, sweetie?" Hermione asked.

"Where's my daddy?" She asked "James, Sewena and Sevewus have one...why don't I?"

"Oh Lidia" Hermione said "Your father is...away. He lives in another country and is there helping his brother with a family matter"

"But..." Tears filled her pretty blue-green eyes "D-did I d-do something wrong?"

"Oh honey" Hermione pulled her in to her arms and had to fight to keep her own tears at bay "Your father didn't know I was pregnant" She kissed the top of her head "I didn't even know I was pregnant with you at the time, it wasn't until later that I learned and I was unable to tell him anything" She watched as her daughter nodded sadly and went back to her breakfast.

Upon entering Harry's house Hermione watched Lidia run off to play with James. Then she saw Harry chasing after the one year old twins, Severus and Serena and then Ginny sitting at the table with the tea at the ready, she noted Hermione's sad expression and poured the liquid in to a cup and waited for her to join her. When she sat down and sighed Ginny made sure that they were alone in the room before she slid the cup closer and waited for her to open up.

"Lidia asked about Loki" Hermione said in a rush.

"Finally" Ginny said shaking her head "And you said?"

"That he was helping his brother with a family matter in another country" Hermione said "Which isn't far from the truth"

"Not at all" Ginny said "But its sad that she had to ask"

"She seems to think she did something wrong" Hermione said finally breaking down and crying herself "I feel so...so...I can't even put a name to it"

"It's not fair that he left you alone for so long" Ginny said, pulling the other girl in to her arms.

"Loki?" Harry asked with a scowl.

"Shush, Harry" Ginny snapped at him "This is girl time, go away"

"What do I do?" Hermione asked the red-haired woman once Harry was gone.

"I don't know" Ginny admitted "No owls can get to him, right?"

"I've tried" Hermione said "They all come back" She looked at her hands "All I can think to do is to find a man to take his spot"

"Don't do that" Ginny said.

"Why not?" Hermione asked.

"If you look for a man now while you're in despair and utterly in love with Loki" Ginny said "You will only attract a man that can only sense your need to need someone, and he could hold that against you and use it to make you do horrible things or make you stay with him"

"I suppose your right" Hermione sighed "I just hate it when she looks at me with those big, curious eyes and asks questions I don't know the answer to"

"I know" Ginny said leaning her head against Hermione's "Maybe it'll get better"

"Yeah, maybe" Hermione agreed quietly.
