Iruka noticed that Naru wasn't listening to his lesson and decided to question her, "Naruto, who was the wife of the Nidaime Hokage?"

"He never had a wife," Naru answered immediately, catching his students and he, himself, off guard. She blinked as she suddenly turned her head towards him realizing what she just said.

Breaking his own shocked situation, he smiled at his student giving her praises in awe. "Looks like you have been studying well, Naruto."

Other students started to chatter away with their seatmates in a hush manner..

"How did she know that?""Did she just answer it correctly?""Heck, I don't know. I don't even know the right answer.""It wasn't in the academy history books, right?"

One of the brave students suddenly said out loud, "I'm sure she cheated on it. How would she even know the answer if she didn't?!"

Verbal agreement broke off and the tables turned against her.

"That's right! She cheated!"

Knowing that the current situation would end up upsetting Naru, Iruka is about to end this farce when Naru cut him off.

"Nah, I don't know that I was right. I was just guessing the answer. I think I just got lucky toda, dattebayo!" Naru scratch his hair in attempt to revert to her dumb facade while laughing in an awkward manner.

'Damn, I should watch my words next time.'

Naru's thoughts were cut off when the school bell ringed indicating the end of the class.

Meanwhile...

Shikamaru groaned in protest as he realize how long has he been staring at the girl.

'Wait... A girl?! Why did I think of Naruto like that?'

He shooked his head, shrugging the thought to diminish itself. His friend, Akimichi Chouji, paused from eating his chips as he tilted his head, staring at his best friend in confusion.

"What wrong, Shikamaru?"

Shikamaru freezed as he turn his back to face Chouji. "Nothing's wrong. Why do you ask so?"

"Because your shaking your head even if no one's talking to you a minute earlier?"

"Nah... just childish thoughts."

'But still, I think she is hiding some secrets.'

This afternoon, Naru decided not to go to her usual place at the Hokage Mountain hang out. Mainly because it is too hot to sleep on top of the said mountain.

She flickered away to a random place with a tree to cover her from the heat of the sun.

Looking around her, she decided that nobody else was on sight and will come soon.

She took off her seal to release herself from her male henge and lied down allowing the sleep to took over her.

After the school had ended, Shikamaru went off to go to his favorite place. In an unused training ground, he liked to lie on the grass and under a tree that provided enough shade for him to stare on the sky to watch the clouds.

He is supposed to go with Chouji today, however the latter felt hungry and ran back to his family's restaurant.

On his way he can see a blob of familiar blond hair lying under his favorite tree. Sleeping without a care in the world.

He turned his back to walk away however his curiosity get better than him.

He took silent small strides towards the blonde, careful that he might woke him up.

Shikamaru knelt down to look closer.

His eyes widened in shock as he stared at the blonde hair.

A long locks of blonde hair.

He felt his own lips slowly form a soft smile.

'Ah, Naruto, you really are an interesting puzzle.'

Naru stirred from her slumber. She then sensed a familiar presence around her. Opening her eyes slowly, she took in his appearance and yawned softly.

"Oh, Shikamaru, what are you doing here?" She asked him, not even bothering to sit up.

"Well, it's a little troublesome to explain it but you are sleeping at my favorite place," Shikamaru replied. Lying his back on the grass, one arm underneath his head. He turned sideways to face her.

"I see. Should I leave?" Naru spoke hesitantly.

"Nah... that'll be too troublesome."

A few moments of silence slowly passed by. The wind blew over the trees, leaves floating - swaying along the wind, dancing into the meadow of greens.

A leaf fell into Naru's golden locks.

Shikamaru's gaze lingered on the leaf, bringing up his hands and reaching for it. Prompting it near his lips, blowing it away to float with the breeze.

Turning his head towards Naru once more, he noticed her vibrant sky blue eyes staring back at him.

"Aren't you too pretty to be a boy?"
