Welcome to Seabrook. A perfectly planned community with perfect homes, perfect clothes. Basically the perfect life. Yep, everything was perfect. Until it wasn't. Who would have thought that an accident involving lime soda would set off the apocalypse? And when the contaminated green haze blew west, people were not happy. Because it turned them into...Zombies. That's right. Zombies! Brain-eating... Zombies. Dark and gory times. But the humans built a big barrier to protect them from the zombie hordes. Safe at last, Seabrook could finally get back to their perfect lives. Well, a lot has changed since they built the barrier 50 years ago. Science found a much better way to deal with zombies. And you know what happened to those old brain-eating monsters? Well, they still have to live on their side of the barrier, but now they live just like humans do. Hi, I'm Zelda, and no, I'm not a zombie, but I was raised by them. My parents found me outside their door one night and decided to take me in. Since I was raised on this side of the barrier, humans treat me exactly like they do zombies. Zombies have to wear government-issued coveralls, but we add our own style to them, and we have a curfew. For a long time, zombies were forced to stay in Zombietown, but we've come a long way since the outbreak thanks to the Z-band. What's a Z-band you ask? The Z-band helps send a keep the inner monster quiet so zombies can live normal lives. Things are finally changing for us. Today is the first day we can attend a regular high school instead of being forced into basements. I guess you could say I wasn't completely normal though. My hair was completely white. No one knew why and when I wanted to try and dye it green, my dad wouldn't let me. My dad told me that if I wasn't comfortable being who I was meant to be, then I needed to learn to be. So, I've learned to accept being a freak. Not a zombie. Not accepted by humans. I'm my own brand of something.

I was sitting downstairs next to my little sister, Zoey, who was playing with her stuffed dog. She really wants a dog, but zombies aren't allowed to have pets. I remember dad finding the stuffed toy and fixing it up for her. Humans aren't exactly an understanding bunch. I heard a deep woof woof and turned to see Zed on his knees, hands in a begging position, staring at Zoey. I laughed lightly before turning back to my book. Zed and I would do anything to keep Zoey as happy and innocent as we could.

"Come on, Zed. Come on!" Zoey called him and he walked on his knees while panting to her. "Good boy." Zoey pat Zed's shoulder and he got up and sat in what little of the chair I wasn't sitting on.

"Get off me!" I laughed as he wiggled around and tickled me.

"Hey, son, try this," dad called out coming in from the kitchen. Zed got up and moved to the other seat and sat down as dad placed his food on his plate. "Brains in a can! It's made out of cauliflower." Dad moved to Zoey and gave her some of the eggs and brains. "And some for you, my little zombie angel." Dad finally sat down and filled his plate and paced me some brain free eggs. Hey, just because I live with zombies, doesn't mean my diet has to be like theirs.

"These taste like gym sneakers, dad," Zed told him and dad just smiled at him.

"I know! How great is that?" Zed shrugged and continued eating. "Listen, Zed, I'm not so sure about this whole football thing. You know, it might be too much. I mean you're a great kid, it's just you haven't spent a whole lot of time around humans other than your sister. Other humans don't really like zombies."

"That's just cause they haven't met me yet!" Zed told him positively as dad laughed. Zed grabbed his football, gave Zoey a parting 'ruff', and grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door.

"Hey, Zed! Hey, Zelda!" Someone called to us and we waved at him.

"Football!"

"Hi!"

"Hi!" Zed threw the football at one of our friends who caught it before watering our little plant.

They say "be careful those humans can be mean"

But I'm still going out for the football team

This might look rough but it's home sweet home

Just a little bit of dust and a little bit of mold

But it ain't so bad on this side of tracks

We make it work with a little bit of swag

On this side, we can all keep winning

If we just try to fit in

Watch it come together

Be the best one ever

Because it's my time

This is going to be my year

You can watch me shine

This is gonna be my year

My year my year

We'll never be accepted zombies need to rise up

Fight the good fight stand for what's right

We get the worst jobs and a curfew at night

They make us wear uniforms that all look the same

Why's it just us being treated this way

I say we stick it to their institution

You want justice we need a revolution

Yeah you got a point but today's an improvement

Cause baby steps is still movement

Hey Bonzo come and spit a verse

A zig zagg gwag gwad ziggy got gon

Ziggity got goat zag ziggy got zong

He just dropped that in zombie

Yeah all he said is he's hungry
