Chapter 1:

PIPER'S POV

Could life possibly get any more perfect?

I snuggle closer into Jason's chest while he wraps his arm tighter around me and look up at the clear night sky. We were lying on a picnic blanket on a grassy hill in my backyard.

"See that? That's the Hercules constellation. He's killing Ladon, the dragon that guarded the garden of Hesperides, to get the golden apple." Jason whisperes into my ear, while he points at the stars above, telling me about all the constellations and their relation to Greek mythology. Personally, I just see a bunch of stars, but I love how passionate he is about them.

"And over there is the constellation Dracon. He's meant to represent Ladon." He points at another blob of stars.

"Why didn't they just name him Ladon?"

"I don't know. To make it easier for kids to remember that that constellation is a dragon and not some dude named Ladon?"

"Hm. Fair enough. You never told me you liked this stuff." I prop up on an elbow to look at him.

He smiles. "I only got into it recently. My dad's been telling me about it for years but I was never really interested."

I tease him. "You're such a nerd."

"Yeah? And you love this nerd." He laughs.

"Really? And how would you know that?" I ask him while I play with his shirt.

"Oh, I think that I know." He smirks at me knowingly, making me blush.

Well, he's not wrong.

"Hmm…"

"What?"

"What else don't I know about you, Grace?"

He smirks at me. "Nothing. You know me inside out, I swear."

"Are you sure?" I raise an eyebrow at him.

He put his hand on his chest. "Cross my heart, hope to die."

I laugh. "Great. Now I know you're serious."

"Scout's promise?"

"Sure." I stare at him for a moment, studying his features as well as I could under the dim light of the stars. Wow. Cute and smart. I guess I really lucked out on this one, huh?

I play with his shirt a little more before I lie back down in his arms. "I love it here. I never want to leave."

"I mean, it is your backyard. Technically, you never have to leave."

I roll my eyes. "You know that's not what I meant. I never want to leave being here. With you."

He looks over at me. "I don't want to leave either. Happy anniversary, Pipes."

I can't believe it's already been 6 months. Half a year since I picked up my balls and finally asked him out after having a massive crush on the guy since I moved to Long Island at the beginning of sophomore year. I'd been hoping he'd make the first move, but I realized I had to stop waiting. So, I asked him out on a date.

Ever since then, my life's just been a huge fairytale. I loved Jason and he loved me back. He's perfect. Sometimes I get worried and I think he might be too perfect. I can't remember the last time I was this happy in my life. But all this time later, I know that that's just what he is. Perfect.

"Happy anniversary." I grin at him.

At home...

"How was it?! Did you like the ambrosia brownies I made? They weren't raw were they? I was in a rush and I might have undercooked them a little. Tell me all about it! Oh. And tell me about the date too, I guess."

Hazel is currently screaming at me through the phone. She didn't even give me a second to change out of my clothes and into pajamas. As soon as I got through the door she blasted my phone with text messages and phone calls. The girl was determined, I'll give her that. And punctual. She asked me what time I thought I'd be going home before the date when she was helping me get ready and I said around 12. There she was. Calling me at 12. In the morning. Right on the dot. Sometimes I wonder how Frank can handle her.

"Hazel I literally just got home." I chuckled.

"Still! I think I deserve FULL details after I spent an hour doing your hair and makeup! And another 2 hours making the brownies! They're my grandma's special recipe and I want to know how they were."

I put the phone between my shoulder and ear and hold it with my head tilted while I grab a pair of grey sweats out of my closet. They're merchandise from my dad's movie, "King Of Sparta" with the logo going down the side of the leg and a little champion logo near the waistband on the pocket. I'm just glad it doesn't have a pic of my dad's face on the ass, like the ones sold to the public. It weirded me out, seeing a bunch of girls at school walking around school with my dad's movie smile printed on their butts, but I got used to it.

"They were amazing, Hazel. Thank you so much, Jason loved them! And they weren't raw, just perfectly moist and chewy. Also-"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, enough about the pastries, now tell me all about the date. Where did you guys go?"

I put my phone on speaker mode and place it on my nightstand so I can change my clothes. "We just went to my backyard since the beach was closed. It was amazing, he brought some sandwiches from that Italian place-"

"Maggliano's"

"-Yeah, and the weather was perfect. We just lied under the stars for hours and talked while he taught me about a bunch of the constellations he knew. I really think love him, Hazel."

"Awweee. That's so cute! Ugh, I wish Frank would just take me on a sappy romantic date."

"He doesn't?" I quickly change out of my tank top and bra into a soft blue v-neck I got from Hollister.

"No, for some reason the idea of romance weirds him out. He'd rather just make out and watch a movie. He hates talking about his feelings."

"Well, maybe he's just new to this. You have only just started dating like 2 months ago, right? And aren't you his first girlfriend or something since his mom won't let him date? It might just take some getting used to."

"I hope you're right, Pipes. Anyways, have you done the chem homework that's due on Monday? I'm so lost."

"Yeah, just give me a few minutes."

I go to the bathroom and start taking off my makeup. I don't usually wear makeup, it's stuffy and uncomfortable. Sometimes I just wear a little mascara and concealer to hide my blemishes, but that's it. Today, Hazel put on some light concealer, a little bit of eyeliner, mascara, and blush. I liked the natural look and I would probably do it more often if it weren't for the morbid fear of stabbing my eye with the eyeliner and inking my entire eye.

I walk back to my room after I finish taking off my makeup and brushing my teeth and put my hair up in a bun.

"Hey, I'm back."

"Hey, okay, so I was talking to Annabeth and we're all meeting at Auntie Em's tomorrow. Are you coming?"

"I don't know, Hazel, I'm kinda tired. What time is it?"

"We're meeting there for lunch, so 12. Pleaaaseee? I feel like the 7 of us haven't hung out in forever. It's always at least one couple making a lame excuse to ditch hanging out and make up. I'm talking about you, by the way."

"Hey, that was ONE time! And I said I'm sorry!"

"Whatever, we had an awesome time at chuck e cheese WITHOUT you!"

I laugh. Only Leo would plan for us all to go there. For Hades' sake, he even has a membership card!

"Alright, alright, fine. I have to go to bed now, or tomorrow I'm gonna be cranky."

"Yes! Okay, night, love you!"

"Love you too."

I hang up on her and get into bed before watching a quick episode of iZombie. Yeah, I said I needed to sleep, but I always need to watch something before bed so I don't get nightmares. While the show's playing, I close my eyes.

Today really was perfect.

Beep! Beep! Beep!

Awe shit! My eyes snap open and I scramble to grab my phone and turn the alarm off. 10 am. On a Saturday. This should not be legal by any means. I stretch in bed for a moment before getting up to get ready.

Skin care? Check.

Brush teeth? Check.

Eat... not check.

I grab my phone off my night stand to watch some Netflix while I go to the kitchen to get breakfast.

"Good morning, Ms. McLean!"

"Lisa, I told you, just call me Piper! You don't have to be so formal, not even my dad cares." I chide my house maid. She's lived with us for over a year, yet she refuses to call me by my first name.

"Well, I'm formal. Chin up while you eat, or you'll spill your cereal on the table!"

I groan. "How am I supposed to watch iZombie, then?"

"Watch it when you're done!" she says before leaving the kitchen to clean the bathrooms.

I finish my breakfast and go back up to my room to change.

Ugh. I really do hate shopping but I desperately need some new clothes. Maybe I'll ask Annabeth and Hazel this weekend to help me pick some stuff to wear. Even though I have more than enough money to buy my own clothes, I always end up borrowing stuff from them, and I feel awful about it. Even last night, I had to borrow Annabeth's grey dress to my date with Jason.

Hmm.. I guess I'll just go with the same American Eagle jeans and tee shirt I basically wear every day.

I glance at my phone to see I've gotten a text from Hazel. Crap! I didn't even realize it was already almost 12. Man, I have got to manage my time better.

Hazel: Hey, where are you? You didn't oversleep again, did you?

Piper: What? When have I EVER overslept?

Hazel: Do you really want me to answer that?

I roll my eyes.

Piper: Ugh, forget it. I'll be there in a minute, I'm already out the door.

I snort. Lmao, no I'm not. But she doesn't have to know that.

I grab some money and my keys before I head out to my car. When I get in, I'm immediately met by Jason's cologne. I feel my stomach bubble up and I smile. It smells so good, I was literally just with him 12 hours ago and I already missed him. This must be what it means to be completely, utterlessly whipped. Honestly, I love Jason so much it scares me. It can't be normal to be this head over heels for a guy, but I am.

I search up Auntie Em's on my phone and start the GPS directions. When I get there, Annabeth and Hazel immediately wave me over to their booth.

"Hey, where are the guys?"

"They're over at the arcade playing pac-man."

I laugh. "Pac-man?"

Hazel rolls her eyes. "They've been at it for the last half hour trying to get the top score. They've wasted a ton of money on that game and they keep losing."

"That's hilarious." I grin.

Annabeth gets out of the booth. "Well, I should probably get them. The food should be here soon."

"Did you order for me?"

"Yep. Veggie sliders, right?"

"You know me well, wise girl." I wink. I know she's hated that name since Percy gave it to her when they were in middle school.

She mock glares at me and heels off.

"Ugh. How can you eat that stuff? Artificial meat." Hazel sticks her tongue out.

I scoff. "Yeah, and regular meat is any better? Dead animals? No thank you."

"Why don't you just get the Carribean salad? It tastes AMAZING!"

"Hazel! That has chicken!"

"Oops. That's probably why it tastes so good." She shrugs.

Before I can respond, I get a tap on my shoulder which makes me jump a little. Jason.

"Hey." I smile up at him, blushing slightly.

He laughs. "Did I scare you?"

I glare at him. "Of course not! You're not that intimidating, Sparky."

"Awe, it's okay, Pipes. It's cute when you get all jumpy." He grins back at me and kisses my forehead before sitting down next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulder.

I see Frank greet and sit next to Hazel across Annabeth and Percy in the booth next to us. Leo comes over and sits across me and Jason and starts arguing with Jason about who won Pac-man, so of course Frank and Percy overhear and join in on the argument too.

"You're full of dipshit, man! You know I won!"

"How can you even say that! You literally got the lowest score."

"Um… that's not how I remember it!"

"THAT'S HOW WE ALL REMEMBER IT!"

"Guys, I think it's obvious. I won. I was the only one to get the cherry!"

"The cherry doesn't mean crap!"

A waitress with braided long brown hair walks up to us balancing four plates in one hand and finally, all the guys shut up. I have to admit, that's pretty impressive. If it were me, I'd probably drop all the platters and fall on my face.

"Heeere you go! Let me know if you need anything." She smiles warmly at us. Leo immediately checks her out.

"Oh, I'll let you know, alright." He winks at her, making her roll her eyes.

"Let me know if anyone else needs anything."

"Awe, come on, babe, don't be like that!"

She huffs and walks back to the kitchen.

I groan. "Really, Leo? Do you have to do that EVERY time we come here? You always flirt with her and you don't even know her name!"

"Hey, I will this time! AND I'll even get her number. I've got an airtight plan." He smiles widely.

"Sure you do, Leo." Annabeth scoffs. "Just like your last one? If I don't remember correctly, that ended in you having a black eye for a week."

"She was a different girl. How was I supposed to know Alyssa had a black belt and a short temper?"

I laugh and lay my head against Jason's chest, causing him to look down at me and lock eyes. He gave me a small smile that said, "Can you believe we're friends with these lunatics?" and I swear my heart skipped a beat. I smiled back at him before looking back at our friends when one of them said something interesting.

Frank looked up from his phone. "Hey, guys, did you know Reyna moved back?"

"What?"

"Huh?"

"Really?"

"How do you know?"

I glance at Jason to see his eyes wide and his jaw practically on the floor. "S-she did? When?"

"She texted me just now. Apparently she's been here for the past week, settling into her new house."

I look at Frank, puzzled. "Who's Reyna?"

Everyone's quiet for a moment before Percy clears his throat and speaks up. "She's um.. An old friend of ours. Moved away freshman year to live in California."

I frown. Why would they act so weird about something as simple as that? I look at Hazel helplessly and she mouths "I'll tell you later."

I nod and try to enjoy the rest of the lunch with them as well as I csn, but I'm freaking out. Why did Jason react like that? Did they have a history? How well does he know her? Did he miss her? Was she important to him? Was he in love with her?

I try to push that thought out of my head. What am I thinking? Why would it even matter, this was freshman year, almost 2 years ago. Besided, Jason's told me multiple times that he loves me. I have no reason to be worried or even jealous.

After we finished our food and had Leo pay for the bill (which was decided by a very aggressive game of not it), the boys all went home and Hazel and Annabeth went home with me to sleep over.

Piper's house...

Hazel stretches out her arms when she gets into my house. "That food was sooo good. I love Auntie Em's."

Annabeth nods. "I know! And it's the only place I can get Percy to eat food that isn't dyed blue."

I walk over to my living room and plop down on the couch. "Hey, guys? Who's Reyna? Like actually? She seems important."

Annabeth and Hazel share glances at each other. "She's… Well I guess she's Jason's 'ex', technically."

"What do you mean by technically?"

"Well you know how you came to this school at the beginning of the second semester of 10th grade? Reyna had just left the school right before you came. Jason and Reyna had been friends since they were in diapers. In the last few weeks before she left, they were pretty much inseparable."

I nod slowly. Okay. They weren't even dating.

"Yeah, he was heartbroken when she left. I thought he'd never get over her."

"Hazel!"

"What? She should know!"

"Piper, it was like 2 years ago, don't worry."

I shrug. "I'm not worried. It was a long time ago and they didn't even date. I think you guys are overreacting."

Annabeth and Hazel share another glance.

"Uhhh… yeah, probably."

Should I be worried, though? Why are they making such a big deal over it? After all, they have known Jason a lot longer than I have. I'm probably just being paranoid. Right?

"Hey! You got any chocolate?"

I snapped out of my thoughts. "Yeah, there's some in the pantry, I think. Do you guys wanna binge a show or something?"

"Ooh! I know! Let's watch Flipped!"

I frown. "What's that?"

Annabeth's jaw dropped. "You mean you've never seen Flipped? Nope! We are watching it. Right now."

Annabeth grabs the remote from off the coffee table and puts on a movie while Hazel sits down in between us with a blanket in her hands.

"Oohhh, Flipped. I haven't watched that in ages." Hazel takes a bit of her chocolate bar.

One hour later...

"That… was the best movie I've ever seen."

I wipe the tears away from my eyes. Holy crap, that was cute.

"I know! The actors are so adorable! Why can't I have my own Bryce?"

"Annabeth, you're dating Percy!"

"But I want a Bryce!" she pouts.

I grab my phone off the table.

"Hey, what time is it?"

I glance at the screen. "4:30"

Annabeth pales. "Aw shit!"

"What?"

"I have a hackathon to get to!"

Hazel rolls her eyes. "Really, Annabeth? A hackathon? On a Saturday?"

"Hey, it's not my fault my mom's crazy and wants me to get into an Ivy League!"

I groan. "You guys were supposed to stay over!"

Hazel bites her lip. "About that…"

"Wha- not you too! Where are you going?"

"Frank just texted me. He wants to-"

"Okay! That's all I needed to know."

"Sorry!"

"It's fine, I'll just binge watch iZombie." I shrug.

I get up and walk them to the door and hug them both.

"Okay, drive safe, guys."

"Love you!"

"Bye!"

I close the door behind them and sigh. Well, season four isn't gonna start without me. Might as well just get on it.

JASON'S POV

I should text Piper, see how she's doing. Eh, but she's with Hazel and Annabeth. She's probably just watching a movie. I'll text her in the morning.

Bzz

I glance at my phone. Speak of the devil. Not that I mind, though.

Piper: Hey :)

Jason: Hey. What's up? Still with Annabeth and Hazel?

I prop myself up in bed.

Piper: Nope! They ditched me :( smh

I smile.

Jason: Awe, I'm sorry. Want me to come over?

Piper: No, it's late. My dad will wonder why you're coming over at this time.

I grin a little. He has a good reason to.

Jason: I don't blame him ;)

Piper: Ha ha, very funny Mr. Grace.

Jason: Why thank you, Ms. McLean

Piper: I should go to sleep now, night 3

Jason: Goodnight :)

I turn off my phone and lie back down in bed. Well, that was short.

I think back to today's events when I remember. Reyna came back. I'll be honest, I'm a little hurt that she didn't tell me first. I mean, we were best friends. No one was as close to her as I was. I wonder why she didn't even text me.

I hear my doorbell ring and groan and rub my hair. It's 11 P.M! Who the hell could it be? I swear to gods, if it's Leo-

I open the door and freeze immediately. No freaking way. There she is, right in front of me.

"Reyna Arellano." I breathe.

"Hey, Jason" she smiles at me. "Can I come in?"

THIS STORY IS NOT JEYNA!

Holy crap this was a long chapter. Believe it or not, I wanted to make it even longer but I figured it might be better to save it for tomorrow. Anyways, I am SO sorry, I didn't finish Drowning. I tried continuing it because I know a couple people wanted to read more of it, but man was it cringe. My writing style alone was bad enough, throw on top the cheesy plot and awful amount of forced chemistry I tried to conjure between the characters, it was just a mess.

Anyways, I think this is much better. At least I hope so. Until next time!
