Chapter 1: How It First Fell Into Place

"Hey Ron," Hermione said. She came into Ron's compartment to find Ron and Lavender kissing. "Oh. Never mind. I'll leave," said Hermione. "Wait," Ron said. It was too late. Hermione had already left crying. Suddenly, she bumped into someone. Hermione looked up to see Draco Malfoy looking down at her with a concerned expression on his face. "Oh. It's you." Hermione said. Before she could stomp off to Harry's compartment to tell him what happened with Ron and Lavender, Draco grabbed Hermione's hand. She turned around and saw that he was also sad. "Hey. What happened? Are you ok?" Draco said with concern in his tone. Hermione looked beautiful with her brown curly hair. What was he thinking! He couldn't fall in love with a Gryffindor. Let alone a Muggle-born. She looked at him and burst into tears. She sat down in an empty train compartment that Hermione recognized as her own and Draco sat down next to her. "Are you ok?" Draco repeated. "Why do you care?" said Hermione with an edge in her voice. "I might be able to help," Draco said. "Fine. I caught Ron and lavender kissing red-handed," said Hermione with sadness in her voice. "We should get revenge on them," Draco said.

Then he explained the plan of revenge on Ron and Lavender. Hermione kept staring at Draco. No way! She couldn't fall in love with someone who called her a Mud blood. It felt really unreal. She never felt the same way about Ron. Maybe this was a sign that Draco was supposed to be with me, Hermione thought. "Why are you sad?" Hermione asked calmly. "Oh. Pansy and I just broke up after I just figured out that she was cheating on me with Blaize, my best friend." Draco said calmly as though he wasn't bothered by it. Hermione could tell that he was bothered by it because while he was talking he was glaring at Pansy. The train then stopped and Hermione had already left Draco. Draco stayed nearby just in case something happened. Ron saw Hermione and walked up to her. "Hey Hermione," said Ron. "Leave me alone Ron!" shouted Hermione. Harry and Ginny Heard from where they were and rushed over. "Why are you mad at Ron Hermione?" asked Ginny. Draco walked over and answered for Hermione. "She caught Ron and Lavender kissing. That's why," said Draco. "No one asked you Malfoy. Also, how would you know why Hermione is mad at Ron?" said Harry. Hermione interrupted the conversation between the two. "I told him, Harry. You can stop picking on him," said Hermione sternly to get everyone's attention. "Why would you tell this loser?!" said Ron. "Ron! How dare you talk to me like that," shouted Hermione. "Yeah Weasel. I'd listen to her," said Draco. Ron stomped off in frustration. Draco thought that they were unreasonable. Hermione, on the other hand, thought they were out of their minds about Draco and Draco appreciated it. He kept feeling like he had to protect Hermione from awful, evil things.
