"You know, Yusei, you need to chill." Leo told his older friend as Yusei prepared to leave the boy's Tops apartment.
"What do you mean?"
"We beat the Dark Signers, then we don't see you for months while you, Jack, and Crow build that bridge, and now you're working jobs all over the place! You never take a break!"
"Well, as much as I would enjoy a vacation, Crow, Jack, and I have to work in order to pay for food and the like."
"I still think you should have some fun... oh, I know!" Leo shouted excitedly. "You should go on a date with Akiza!"
*Hack* *Cough* Yusei sputtered. "Where did that come from?"
"Huh? I thought you liked Akiza. Was I wrong?" Leo questioned. Yusei cleared his throat and took a relieved, deep breath.
"It's not that I don't like Akiza, it's simply that dating's not really my thing. I'd rather focus on dueling, especially with the WRGP coming up." Yusei explained calmly.
"I get that. Decks before chicks, right?"
"Leo, where did you hear that?"
"Dexter said it once."
"I knew it." It was always Dexter.
"I got it!" Leo cheered. "If you don't want to go on a date, I've got a better idea...
The Next Day...
"Hey, Martha? Is this where you want me to put the soup cans?" Yusei questioned as he carried a box of soup cans into Martha's house.
"Yes, Yusei. Oh, thank you for being such a dear." Martha cooed as Yusei placed the boxes on top of a table.
"No problem. Oh, but I have to go now, or I'll be late for a date."
"A date? With whom?" Martha teased.
"Let's just say you know her." Yusei replied, smirking as he left the room.
"Oh, Yusei. I haven't seen him smile that mischievously since he was a boy. Still... someone I know, huh? Hah!" Martha laughed, a knowing smile on her face.
30 minutes Later...
"Okay, Martha, we brought the cards you wanted!" Crow announced as he and Jack trudged into Martha's house. Each carrying two boxes filled to the brim with Duel Monster cards.
"Thank you so much. I'm glad you two are finally carrying your weight around here."
"Oh yeah, we were meaning to ask you something."
"Have you seen Yusei today?" Jack asked.
"Yusei? Yes, he was here earlier. He mentioned a date." Martha informed the two duelists.
"A date? With who?" Jack questioned.
"He said, 'you know her'. He may not have said who it is, but if my memory serves me- and I'm sure it does- Akiza's the only girl Yusei has ever introduced me to."
"A date with Akiza?" Crow surmised.
"Not surprising. Honestly, I was wondering when those two would get together already." Jack confessed.
"Well then, Jack, guess we'd better head home. Nice seeing you, Martha. And let us know if you need anything else."
"I'll be sure to do that. Don't get yourselves hurt out there!" Martha called after the boys as they rode away from Martha's house.
"Yusei? On a date? I don't know, Jack. Seems... out of character to me."
"Well this is fanfiction. 'Out of character' is the name of the game." Jack Atlas shattered the fourth wall with Absolute Power Force.
"Fan-what?"
"Nothing. As I was saying, it's not too surprising. I bet Akiza finally worked up the courage to ask him out."
"Maybe... I'm not too sure... Aw, whatever!" Crow shouted abruptly. "We can just ask him all about it when we get home."
An Unspecified Number of minutes Later...
"There you boys are!" Akiza Inzinski's furious voice greeted Jack and Crow as they entered the garage that served as their home.
"Akiza? Why are you here? We thought you were on a date with Yusei." Jack pointed out.
"And more importantly, how'd you get in our home?!"
"A date? I didn't know anything about that." Was I supposed to go on a date with Yusei? Did he invite me when I was daydreaming?! Oh, not again!
"That's weird. Martha told us Yusei went out on a date with you." Jack informed Akiza.
"Well, I suppose she did say that Yusei said that he was a date with someone Martha knew. Not necessarily Akiza. Also, how did you get in here, Akiza?!"
"YUSEI!" An energetic young boy's voice penetrated the garage as Leo bounded down the steps to join the others, Luna following slowly behind.
"Huh? Where's Yusei?" Leo questioned, disappointment evident on his soft features.
"He's out on a date with someone, but we don't know who." Jack told the twins.
"Huh?! Yusei's on a date?!" Leo loudly voiced his disbelief.
"With someone other than Akiza?!" Luna followed suit.
"I didn't know Yusei had a girlfriend." Leo remarked. "That's so not fair- why didn't he tell me?!"
"Just because they're going on one date together does not mean they're boyfriend and girlfriend." Akiza declared, sending a stern glare in the direction of the twins.
"Well, regardless of what it means, I say we go find Yusei and spy on his date." Crow suggested.
"I second that notion."
"I agree with Jack and Crow! Let's go!" Leo rallied.
"I don't see why we should spy on our friend's date. It's Yusei's alone time with someone else, it'd be rude to intrude." Akiza objected.
"But don't you want to know who it is, Akiza?" Luna questioned.
"It's none of my business."
"Fine, suit yourself. Luna, you ride with me, Leo, you ride with Jack. We're going to go see if we can't find Yusei." Crow declared.
"Alright! Let's go, Jack! I can't believe I get to ride on the Phoenix Whirlwind with the Jack Atlas!"
"Normally, I'd object, but it's obvious that it won't change anything. So hurry up and get on!" Jack ordered, leaving the garage with Leo bounding behind him.
"Bye, Akiza." Luna spoke softly before walking out with Crow.
"We'll tell you what we find!" Crow assured Akiza. "You can stay here and keep guard- since apparently it's so easy to break into our house!" Crow exclaimed tensely as he left alongside Luna.
"Hmph. Like I care."
Four Hours and Thirty-Seven minutes Later...
"Man, we couldn't find Yusei!" Crow complained, collapsing on a couch. Leo, Luna, and Jack entered next, closing the door behind them.
"Of course you couldn't. You were looking for one person in a city full of people." Akiza pointed out.
"Yeah."
"Yusei should be home soon, though. He never comes home late." Jack stated. Right on cue, the door opened and Yusei appeared, walking down the stairs, surprise written on his face as he saw the crowd.
"What's everyone doing here so late?" Yusei questioned.
"Yusei!" Leo cheered, running towards Yusei and tackling him with a hug.
"So, Yusei, who's the girl?" Crow asked.
"What do you mean?"
"We mean, who were you on a date with? Martha told us that you said you were on a date." Jack told Yusei.
"Oh, that. You've met her."
"Really?! Well come on, tell us who it is!" Leo demanded, bouncing with excitement.
"I don't have to tell you, I can show you. She's right outside."
"You brought her home on your first date?!" Akiza questioned, her face slightly red.
"Huh? Well, yeah, why wouldn't I?" Yusei replied, causing Akiza, Luna, Jack, and Crow all to sigh due to Yusei's lack of basic knowledge on the subject of dating. "Come on, let's see her." Yusei spoke, walking outside and prompting the rest of the group to follow.
"Yusei, I don't see a girl anywhere." Luna spoke as the group arrived outside.
"Well, the one I went on a date with is right here."
"Where?" The group questioned as one.
"Right here." Yusei proclaimed, patting his favorite red duel runner. "Me and her had a lot of fun cruising around town today."
"Wait... you mean to tell us... that this whole time... YOU WERE ON A DATE WITH A DUEL RUNNER?!" Akiza lost it.
"Not just any duel runner. My girlfriend." Yusei told the group, leaving them all flabbergasted, their mouths hanging open. All except one that is.
"Hahaha! Great job, Yusei." Leo told Yusei, laughing as he walked to his side, offering a fist bump.
"Great idea Leo." Yusei replied with a smirk and a chuckle before bumping his fist into Leo's, then separating them for fireworks.
The two spoke in unison: "Boom."
