PSA: This is just a minor thing, but my band, Barrington, just released our first single. It'll be on streaming services July 24th, and is on Youtube RIGHT NOW. Just look up "Barrington whites" (the name of the song) and you'll find it. The cover art is a hand holding a dried flower, so you can't miss it. I'm very proud of it and think you'd all dig it, especially if you're into Alternative Rock. ANYWAY.

A/N: Hey! First chapter hype! So, for those who haven't read the story description, this is an edited, largely rewritten version of UrBoiPedro12's rather famous "Relocated". With his permission, I've been allowed to reupload its chapters and edit it to my heart's content, as well as continue writing it beyond its original end point. I want to be clear that in many regards, this series will be INCREDIBLY different from the original, as the original author has expressed his issues with the original quite vocally.

These chapters will be releasing daily, so if you're enjoying it, don't hesitate to leave a follow, a review, and a favorite!

ANYWAY; here we go. This story is a Naruhina with some heavy Shikatema.

Enjoy!

Naruto was struggling to stay conscious. Pain was reverberating throughout his whole body. On top of that, he was carrying an unconscious Sasuke Uchiha. The blonde genin smiled to himself through the passing agony, allowing himself a moment of respite. Sasuke had not come quietly. The fight had been long and brutal, not something Naruto wanted a repeat of… but he had won. He'd kept his promise. And now, the village was in sight.

"Just a little longer…" Naruto muttered as a form of self-motivation.

As the gates drew closer, the crowd gathering at them came into view. There were roughly forty people waiting for the return of Naruto and Sasuke. This made the young ninja smile. Maybe, just maybe, he would finally be acknowledged by his fellow villagers. Naruto could recognize several people in the crowd awaiting his arrival. Sakura, Hinata, and Lee were present near the front of the group. He finally came within a reasonable distance of the gates and was met by Sakura, who, to Naruto's surprise, looked furious.

With haste, she snatched Sasuke from his grasp and glared at Naruto.

"What have you done to Sasuke-kun? He's barely breathing!" Sakura questioned angrily.

Naruto was taken aback by the accusatory tone she was using. Did she not understand the situation? He'd done what she'd asked, hadn't he?

"He wouldn't come willingly, so I had to-"

"Beat him half to death?!"

Sakura brought her hand back and struck Naruto hard across his jaw, causing him to stumble backwards and fall.

"S-sakura-chan…" Naruto choked.

The pink-haired ninja was no longer listening. Her attention was fully devoted to the traitorous Uchiha she so loved. For several moments, there was silence. Then, the villagers that had gathered to welcome Naruto home, or rather as it had turned out, Sasuke, began talking amongst themselves and shooting hateful glances in Naruto's direction.

And then, came the shouting.

"Get lost, demon brat!"

"How dare you harm Konoha's last Uchiha!"

"You should have died along with the Yondaime!"

"Leave this place and never come back!"

Naruto felt tears well up in his eyes, threatening to spill over. He had finished his mission, he had brought Sasuke home, yet they still hated him. He was still the Demon Brat, no matter what he did. Did they not see he was trying to help? Did their anger have no end?

As if answering the questions of his internal struggle, the boy was suddenly struck by a small rock across his cheek, wincing at the impact. Then another, and soon a figurative rain of stones collided with Naruto. He simply allowed them to fall and hit him. He had no energy left. Nothing to defend himself with. Eventually, the barrage subsided and the villagers began to leave. After a short time, Naruto glanced upward. Only one person remained. Hinata Hyuuga. Her pale eyes burned with anguish at the sight of the blonde's plight.

She took several shaky steps forward and collapsed to her knees in front of Naruto. Her face was streaked with tears and her bottom lip was quivering.

"H-hinata? Why are you…?" Naruto began.

However, before he could finish his sentence, Hinata crushed him into a tight embrace and buried her face in the crook of his neck, wetting it with her tears. Naruto groaned in pain.

"A little less force p-please…" Hinata instantly released him.

"I-I'm sorry, Naruto-kun…" Hinata sniffed, moving her face away, deeper into the boy's shoulder in a futile attempt to hide her tears.

Naruto studied the girl in front of him. "Why did you stay behind? What's the point?" Naruto asked quietly. Hinata began pushing her index fingers together as she gathered her words.

"Y-you did not d-deserve that, Naruto-kun. None of it…" Hinata said shakily.

Naruto sighed and looked at the ground.

"I don't think it matters if I deserved it or not. They clearly don't want me here" Naruto said miserably.

"I want you here, Naruto-kun!" Hinata yelled suddenly.

She then reattached herself to Naruto and once again began to cry into his bloody jacket. Naruto froze and looked down at the girl hugging him. She wanted him here? Then again, the more he thought about it, she had been kind to him the entire time he had known her. He returned her embrace and smiled to himself.

After a few minutes had passed, Naruto gently removed Hinata from his chest.

"Thank you, Hinata. Really. That meant a lot. But, I still have to leave. The villagers will kill me if I don't" Naruto explained.

If he'd had a less distraught frame of mind, he'd probably have seen what was coming next, but alas, Naruto was caught by surprise by the girl's next words.

"Then take me with you" Hinata instantly responded, Naruto's eyes widening in tandem.

"What about your family? Won't they go nuts if you leave?" Naruto pointed out.

"My family has never seen me as anything other than a disappointment. I do not think me leaving would sadden them very much" Hinata admitted.

Naruto growled while fighting off his urge to charge into the village and hand Hiashi a piece of his mind in the form of a Rasengan. Were the Hyuuga blind? Regardless, Hinata then smiled and blushed before speaking again.

"Besides, I would rather be with you anyways" Naruto blinked at that statement, taking a second to process it before responding.

"If you're sure, then I wouldn't mind taking you along" Naruto said in a reluctant, if slightly happier tone.

He then stood up with a wince, Hinata doing the same.

"I'll still need to grab some things from my apartment first. Meet me at this gate tomorrow morning at 7 AM" Naruto said.

Hinata nodded and then reached into her pocket. She then produced a small container of healing cream.

"H-here. You should apply it to your wounds, Naruto-kun." The young Jinchuuriki smiled and accepted the cream as he remembered his fight against Kiba, after which Hinata had also given him a similar cream.

"Thanks, Hinata. I'll see you tomorrow morning" Naruto said with a soft smile before turning to walk off.

"Hold it"

The two genin flinched and looked in the direction from which the voice had come. From underneath a nearby tree, of all people, Shikamaru emerged, a stern look on his face and a roll of the eyes accompanying his words.

"Got room for one more?"

That concludes chapter one of 'Relocated'. The next chapters are much longer, so don't worry, and to say the least, things start to pick up! See you next chapter, and leave a review if you'd like to suggest anything, whether they be changes or theories on where the story might go!
