Prologue

(Shuichi POV):

"Thank you!" I sheepishly called out behind me to my jeweler. The Tokyo air filled my lungs when I stepped out of the jewelry store with a black, velvet case in a little white plastic bag clutched in my hand. The June heat died down considerably as the glass door then closed with a soft "Ding." Looking left and right, I made my way down the concrete sidewalk and entered the gorgeous park through the metal archway. As I walked toward the middle where a massive water feature lay, complete with white and blue lights that had turned on due to dusk settling in, I took quick notice of how empty the park was.

Being one of two Ultimate Detectives in Japan, I noticed these types of things quicker than most people. Most of my line of detective work dealt with murders and some cases of burglary. These cases help pay the rent on my school's apartment that I rented for my studies, and also get me through my moderate depression that I'm currently suffering from. I've learned to cope with it over the past years though. I wouldn't say that I'm lucky that I haven't gone crazy or suicidal, It's most likely the people that I'm surrounded by. Without them I don't know where I would be. Frankly, I feel that I don't deserve my friends to look after me.

I took out the case from it's bag while holding it in front of my face. "Why did you stick with me to the end," I asked, feeling childish as I talked to the box, "I am forever in your debt." The box was now being held up next to my heart as I held back sniffles. The item inside the case was going to decide my future. I had hope for tomorrow whatever the answer shall be. I gripped the case just as a soft wave of wind tickled my nose. The cherry blossoms above me ruffled my hair, as I smiled watching as the water danced in front of my eyes performing an elegant show. Putting the box back into the bag, I took out my black, leather wallet in search of a penny. The chosen penny gleamed as I rolled it across my fingers. Standing near the fountain, I knew that wishing into a fountain was silly, but I didn't care, because I had Hope. My eyes closed and I whispered into the penny, what I wished for. It wasn't about my detective cases, money, or getting a 'Yes' from my girlfriend. "I wish to never stop feeling hope." With one hand I flung the penny down into the depths of the fountain, making a small splash. I looked up as the water towered over me from above, dropping water droplets onto my black coat. Walking swiftly back to the bench, I Pulled my hat back over my head and wandered my eyes across the park's atmosphere. The light posts had turned on and were illuminating my path towards the exit giving off a warm white glow. With the small bag tucked into my coat's pocket, I headed to the exit from which I came from following the light posts. As long as I, Shuichi Saihara, have hope then I don't see what could possibly go wrong. If only I told myself that before 9 months ago, then I could get a head start.

Okay! Hi! Looks like we're gonna be here for quite awhile aren't we! Hopefully I have enough motivation to finish this Long FanFic. At the end I will touch some things up to make the story sound great! Rated T for now, don't know if I will change it later down the road or not. DANGANRONPA IS OWNED BY SPIKE CHUNSOFT. Haven't really decided on an upload schedule yet so just look for this to pop up in your notifications or something. This will in fact include mostly all characters from V3 and a few 78th and 77th classmates will appear in the story (I don't know who but don't tell anyone that yet). BTW there will be three POVs in this story. Shuichi, Kaede, and Kaito will be main POV's and sometimes Harukawa and others :)!
