Help Me: Reboot

Introduction

I know this a story by another fanfictioner years ago, but I know them personally at home and we are both close due to being fans of Marvin the Martian. They did not really get into fanfictioning and recommended this site to me when I got into writing fanfics as a hobby. I did enjoy their stories, but thought this one could do with a little improvement as it was their first fanfic and it was written when we were children.

We both also loved a fan made Martian girl called Lilly who was a great friend to Marvin and has disappeared from the internet a bit in recent years, the reason I made this account was to bring Lilly back into the spotlight as she is a great fan-made character and we both really enjoyed her and reading her stories on no-longer active but still there accounts Carlint (now ISpazzyKitty) and NightmareBeforeChristmasFreak. We also enjoyed watching cute videos and Marvin and Lilly on YouTube as well as Evilgalorereturns cross over of Rudolph which features Marvin and Lilly.

My mission is to bring Lilly back into the spotlight for Marvin fans to enjoy once again. I plan to make a fanfiction version of the Rudolph crossover as well as my own crossover for fanfiction with the Nativity film (the one when the kids do the Hollywood musical, not the bible story) as well as my own Marvin and Lilly works.

However, it is still important that I stick to Marvin's true personality as a villain as this is what he was made to be by his creators and I will write stories without Lilly or with Lilly taking on a smaller role when Marvin is the main villain. It is nice to have a bit of fun crossing him with a female friend and having the villainy taking a back seat, but it is also important to take note of what Marvin truly is in order to treat the character with the upmost respect.

Now without further a due, please enjoy my first story with Lilly. Help Me, the Reboot.

P.S. I will not just be doing Marvin and Lilly stories, my account will have other things there. For example, I currently have a 101 Dalmatian Street Story up called Departed Da Vinci.

Chapter One

Pouring himself another pint of beer, Marvin sighed heavily, wiping a tear from his eye.

"Hey Marv, I know it's tough, but you'll get over it, I promise." Marvin's friend Sam said, hiding the beer from Marvin, before he could drink any more.

Marvin looked up at the small cowboy. "Sam, I had her. We were at the altar. But she left me for... him!" Marvin flicked the tear from his eye.

"Look at the bright side Marvin, that female varmit got what she deserved! Daffy gave her what for, didn't he?"

Marvin couldn't help but smile at this; Sam was right, Daffy did fire insults at the Martian Queen just after she'd practically ripped Marvin's heart in two and stamped on it. In most circumstances, Marvin would've laughed too. However, he was too busy trying to escape the church scene as quickly as he could. The girl whom Marvin had saved her life from the power hungry General Z9, had left him at the alter for a fat, lazy slob who cared for no-one but himself.

Sam sighed heavily. "Hey, you've got this new girl, haven't you, Milly, Jilly, what's her name again?"

"Lilly." Marvin answered, "yes, Lilly's great. But I just see her as a friend. You can't replace your first and only love, you know that, don't you Sam?"

"I know, but just stick with Lilly. Lilly's a smashing friend Marv, and maybe she'll be your new girl. And even if it always stay's just friends, then you'll have her all the same."

"Thanks Sam." Marvin said, finally jumping off the stool and heading towards the door, swaying sideways as he walked.

"Marv?"

"Yes." Marvin slurred

"Don't you think you should stay here tonight?"

"Oh, no. It's fine. I'll go home." Marvin slurred as he left Sam's house. A decision he'd regret for the rest of his life.

Earlier that night, just as Marvin was walking down to Yosemite's Sam's house, Z9 was sitting in his cell, angry and fed up. It had been just over a year since his arrest, and he'd had by far enough. Ready for revenge, Z9 was poised at the ready. He gave one last look to his cell mate, Mastermind, an evil hypnotist and mentalist who had spent the last year teaching Z9 all of his tricks.

"Goodbye my friend." Z9 whispered, before running to the bars of his cell and sticking his fast fist through the bars. Quickly, Z9 punched the guard in the head, knocking him out cold. Z9 then swiped the key from the unconscious guard, unlocked his cell, and ran out of the prison to freedom.

Meanwhile Marvin was still walking through the darkened streets of Toon Town: Wild West Boulevard; he was swaying sideways and hiccupping all the way back to his home in Toon Town: Dark Kingdom, a place specially built for cartoon villains such as himself.

Fortunately, Sam's house was on the outskirts of Dark Kingdom, meaning Marvin wasn't far from home. Sam would've lived in Dark Kingdom too, if it wasn't for the fact he was a cowboy.

Unfortunately for Marvin, there was a back ally on his route back home. This back ally was often used for either ho-downs at high noon or for young children to play when it was safe. Sam often saw kids such as Montanna Max, or Elmyra Duff playing around there. If it wasn't for this darkened ally, Marvin would've got home safely, and none of these unfortunate events in this story would've ever taken place.

Just as Marvin was about to cross the border into Dark Kingdom, he felt himself getting dragged from behind into the ally. "What the..." He started to say, before reaching for his ray gun. Suddenly, Marvin felt a wet cloth being put up against his airways. Marvin couldn't help but breathe in the sweet-smelling substance. Suddenly, he became very relaxed and tired. Helplessly, his arms gave way, and his gun fell from his hand, to the sand-stone floor below, bringing the dust up with it. Finally, he fell back into the arms of his captor.

Chapter Two

Marvin opened his eyes slowly. All he could see before him was a greyish blur. Feeling his head throb, he closed his eyes tight. Lying there with his eyes closed, but awake, Marvin was able to focus on the rest of his body: he could feel his red and green clothing sticking to his skin; all cold and wet; his head continued to throb and stomach was starting to twist; this was defiantly his usual Sunday morning hangover from his Saturday night's at Sam's; his neck felt heavy as if something was attached and weighing him down; finally his right ankle felt heavy, like it had a similar clamp to his neck.

This was not his usual Sunday morning hangover. Despite just wanting to fall back to sleep, Marvin decided that he had no choice but to open his eyes. He used his gloved hands to rub his eyes. Then he slowly opened them. What he saw jolted him fully awake. He found that he was in a cell.

He sat up and examined himself and his surroundings. All he could see was stone walls and bars in the distance in his surroundings. He then looked down at himself and noticed the floor around him and his clothes were drenched from top to bottom; he looked around and saw that he was sat next to a cell window and it had, and was, heavily raining.

Marvin decided that he had to move in order not to get very sick. However, this was impossible. He tried to stand up, but then saw he was weighed down by his right leg. He looked down to see a ball chain attached to his foot. He then acknowledged the similar weight around his neck. He put his hands around his neck, feeling a metal collar. He turned around; this confirmed his suspicions that he was chained to the wall by his neck.

Marvin worked out that he had no choice but to stay put. He felt the rain smack his back. He shivered and sneezed. "I've caught my death", he thought to himself, trying to huddle himself up to keep warm.

About two hours later Marvin could hear heavy footsteps heading towards his cell. Terrified, Marvin looked through the bars to see who was approaching him. He recognised the tall, muscly Martian straight away. It was General Z9. Marvin felt the colour drain from his face. "Don't let him know you're afraid." Marvin whispered to himself.

The cell door opened, and Marvin finally got a closer look at his captor. He could see the tall Martian carrying a pair of handcuffs. Shaking away all fear, Marvin narrowed his eyes. "Let me go, now!" He scolded at Z9.

Z9 ignored him and knelt down to his prisoner's level. "Oh, I'll let you go alright." He snarled sarcastically. "As you know you are responsible for my arrest just over a year ago. Now I feel it is time for revenge. See how you feel being locked up and chained down. But I'm not going to stop there, oh no. You see I haven't given up on my quest to take over Mars and Earth. Once the Queen knows you are helpless, and in my clutches, she'll want you to be home and safe. She'll give her throne over to me. It's her throne or you Marvin. I know her, she'll chose the man she loves."

Marvin then felt his heart rip in two all over again, he felt like he'd been punched in the stomach. He felt sick. A hot flow of sadness overwhelmed him, as a tear snuck down his cheek. Quickly, he thumped it away. He knew the Queen didn't love him or care for him. If she had the slightest bit of care for his well-being and feelings, she wouldn't have done what she did to him. She wouldn't have put him through this intense feeling of heartbreak he was currently, and maybe permanently suffering.

"Nothing to say?" Z9 asked.

Knocking back his tears, Marvin got up to his feet and reached into his pocket. Then to his horror noticed his gun was gone. Z9 then continued to mock Marvin. "Oh, what's wrong? Lost your gun? Oh bless, you're totally defenceless, at my mercy." Z9 then knelt down, and removed Marvin's ball chain, keeping him chained by the neck. He then teased Marvin by dangling the handcuffs in front of his face, before reaching for his wrists. Marvin immediately had a plan. He reached for the ball chain and picked it up with all his strength and swung it at Z9.

However, Marvin is small, and not strong enough to swing the chain to the desired effect. It missed Z9 completely. Z9 then snatched the chain from Marvin with no effort. He then pushed the poor Martian to the floor and swung the chain, hitting his left leg.

Marvin heard the sickening crack as he screamed in agony. He sat up, trying not to move his left leg. He already knew the result before he examined his leg, the bones were broken. Z9 then pushed the Martian into the wall, knocking him unconscious. Marvin awoke seconds later to another blow to his left leg and another loud crack. Z9 then moved on to his right leg and hit it with three large blows. He then put down the ball chain panting, but also laughing under his breath. Marvin just stared down at his two completely broken legs. Each one shattered from knee to ankle.

The colour drained from his face, leaving it a dark grey as his legs both swelled up. All Z9 got was a shock from a low swinging iron ball, swung by a Martian no more than 2ft high. Marvin got two broken legs for that.

"I'll deal with you later." Hissed Z9, leaving Marvin alone. As soon as Z9 was far enough away, Marvin allowed himself to break down into screaming sobs of pain. Pain for more things than one.

The next day, Marvin once again woke up in his cell. His head was throbbing, his throat aching in pain, his joints aching, his legs still hurting from the broken bones. He coughed a few times; fully aware he was sick. He felt his forehead, he had a fever. He was ill, injured, and at the mercy of the vengeful General Z9.

His cell door opened with a creak. It was Z9. He came in dangling the handcuffs again, teasing Marvin with them. Marvin knew he was leaving the cell in chains. "I hope we're not going to have a repeat of yesterday's shenanigans, are we?" Marvin didn't answer. "I'll take that as a no." Marvin allowed Z9 to place the handcuffs tightly on his wrists, and to undo his collar. "Come on, up!" Z9 demanded.

"I can't walk, and you know it!" Marvin snapped. Z9 ignored Marvin, he grabbed the chain between each cuff and hoisted Marvin to his feet, placing him painfully on them. It took all he had to stop himself from crying. Z9 dragged Marvin by his wrists from his cell, to a large sitting room.

Z9 through Marvin on a large, comfy couch. By now tears were streaming down his face. The bones in his legs were more broken than before, now needing reconstructive surgery. Z9 just ignored this and sat on an armchair, opposite the couch. He pulled an emerald green pendulum from his pocket and started to swing it in front of Marvin's eyes.

Terrified, Marvin instantly knew what Z9 was trying to do to him. He slammed his eyes tightly shut. "No! I know what you're trying to do!" He yelled, bravely. Marvin wasn't going to allow himself to do Z9's bidding. He was horrified that Z9 was going to hypnotise him to give secrets from the Martian palace, army or the Queen herself. He couldn't allow that.

Z9 approached the Martian and pressed something against his cheek. Marvin opened his eyes and saw the gun against his head. His eyes widened and he screamed at the top of his lungs, straining his vocal cords, causing himself to lose his voice. He sat there, shaking. "If you don't comply, then bang, you get it!"

Marvin tried to say "yes", but couldn't, he just ended up nodding instead. Z9 swung the pendulum again. Back and forth. Back and forth. Marvin suddenly became relaxed, and very sleepy. He couldn't feel his injuries, illness, and fever anymore. He let Z9's words wrap around him, penetrate his mind, and rock him to sleep.

Meanwhile a distraught Lilly was grooming a puppy at work, at her job as a dog groomer. She had just finishing cutting a Martian Poodle's fur, with a sad look on her face. Her co-worker Ruby looked at her, she was instantly worried.

"Lilly, I'm sure he had a reason. Maybe he was ill and fell asleep, or he forgot; he has had a bad break up, he will be distracted."

"I was sat at the restaurant for two hours Ruby, I felt so humiliated and pathetic. He won't answer his phone, my texts, my Facebook messages, anything. I don't know what I did wrong." Lilly was knocking back tears, her voice quivering, on the verge of breaking down.

Ruby put down her grooming equipment and put a Martian Cairn Terrier into a cage. "Come on Lilly, let's get a drink. We'll pop down his house after work and see if we can talk to him."

Just as Ruby and Lilly went to leave the grooming room, and go to the break room for a drink, their boss, Serina, came through the door. "I'm sorry to bother you girls, but there's a phone call for Lilly that's urgent, it's from her Royal Highness, Queen Tyranhee of Mars."

Ruby screamed with excitement, her friend and co-worker, Lilly, was getting a call from her majesty herself. Lilly wasn't excited, her expression went from sad to serious. She held out her hand for the phone, and silently took it.

"Hello, your majesty." Said Lilly, holding back all of her anger towards the queen for what she'd put Marvin through. As hurt as she was by Marvin, it was nothing to the fury she felt for his ex.

"Lilly, have you heard from Commander X2 over the past few days?" The Queen asked, fear in her voice.

"You mean Marvin, no, I haven't heard from him for days." Answered Lilly, her voice now starting to quiver. "Why?"

"He never showed up for work this morning, and word has it that General Z9 has escaped from prison on Saturday night."

Lilly felt herself shake, her face went white from pure shock and fear, as she clasped, the phone falling to the floor. Serena and Ruby grabbed her and hoisted her back up. Ruby then picked up the call and explained what had happened and took the Queen off the phone.

Chapter Three

Marvin slowly opened his eyes again, he was back in his cell and in his collar, his legs just sprawling out, free, but too broken to move. "What happened, how did I get here?" Marvin asked himself. It was like he'd woken up from anaesthetic. He felt weak, tired, and couldn't remember how he got from one place to the next. His eye lids still heavy, he closed them slowly, and tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. He sat their silently and thought to himself, "how did I get here?"

He thought back to being dragged out of his cell in handcuffs, forced on to a couch, then Z9 pulled out a pendulum, he closed his eyes, but then Z9 had him at gun point and the last thing Marvin could remember was that thing swinging back and forth. That's when it hit him. Hypnotism. He was hypnotised.

Creak, the cell door opened, Marvin's eyes followed suit. He looked up and was staring at Z9 on his back. "What did you make me do?" He said, his voice hoarse and raspy.

"Just relax, you just took a long nap, that's all." Z9 sighed, and then handed Marvin a small glass of water. "Drink."

"Thanks." Marvin croaked, taking the drink and drinking it down in one gulp. It didn't fix his voice, but it was refreshing. Z9 grinned sadistically as he watched Marvin drink his drink. Unbeknownst to Marvin the drink was spiked with the chicken pox virus, and Z9 had already injected him with a poison that weakened the immune system whilst Marvin was under hypnosis the night before.

"Would you like another?"

"Please."

"OK, you just wait there." Z9 walked out to get Marvin another drink. Marvin just rolled his eyes; he couldn't go anywhere anyway. Z9 was back before he knew it, carrying a larger cup of water, double the size of the last one. Marvin drank this one down much more slowly. This one contained two types of virus. The first was a mixture of pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and laryngitis, guaranteed to do extreme damage to the throat. The second was the flu, a different strain to the one poor Marvin was already suffering. Z9 also had Scarlet Fever, viral gastronesis, measles, and mumps for different drinks.

That wasn't all Z9 had in stall for Marvin. He was more than ready to do damage to the upper parts of the Martian's legs, and other bones in his body. Then once the Martian was entirely weak and helpless, he would throw him to the mercy of the Galactic Protectorate, tied up, sick, injured and unable to put up a fight, ready to pay for his evil crimes against Earth.

All that joy Marvin had taken in kidnapping, attempted murder by proxy, assault, petty theft, organ theft, attempted brainwashing, violent acts, threatening another with fire-arms, attempted municide, attempted genocide, and attempted mass murder. You name it, Marvin had done it. Now he was the one at someone's mercy.

Meanwhile the Martian Queen and Lilly were down at Yosemite Sam's house. Sam had just finished his work at the DMV and was just about ready to go to the shooting range to teach some young villains how to shoot, before having a bit of fun with the guns himself. But he was stopped when he was greeted by the Martian Queen and Lilly.

"Excuse me, are you Yosemite Sam?" Asked the Queen

"Yeah, what's it to ya?" Grumbled Sam, rudely

"You are friends with Marvin Martian, my employee in the Martian army and court?" Asked the Queen

"Yes, I am, and by the way Queenie I think what you did to him at the alter was low, shallow, and shameful! You're nothing but a two-timing, teasing varmit!" Sam yelled, getting right up in the Queen's face.

The Queen got into Sam's face as a response, trying to intimate him as he was intimidating her. The Queen got out her gun, and Sam followed suit.

"Stop it!" Lilly yelled, breaking the tension. "This isn't going to help Marvin!"

"Help Marvin?" Sam questioned, "Someone fill me here."

"We think Marvin is in trouble. General Z9, traitor of Mars escaped from prison on Saturday night."

"General Z9, that's the guy Marvin got captured and put away, isn't it?" Sam asked, his voice lowering, becoming worried.

"Yes." Answered the Queen.

Sam's moustache drooped and his pupils shrunk, his eyes full of concern. "Marvin was over here, at my house this Saturday night just gone. We had a few beers, a drinking night, we do it every Saturday. Poor Marv is suffering a heartbreak, so he had a few more than he normally does, and he was more drunk than usual. And believe me, it doesn't take much to get that Martian drunk." This was true with account of Marvin being so small. "Well, anyways, it was round midnight and I was starting to hide the beers, because I felt Marvin had, had enough. He was upset, for reasons I'm sure I don't need to mention. I tried to cheer him up and told him to remember that sweet girl he has now, Lilly. He really likes Lilly." Lilly felt herself light up, and her heartbeat increased at that moment. "Marvin said he was ready to go home. I asked him if he wanted to stay over at mine that night. I was concerned, he could barely walk he was that drunk. He refused and headed home, drunk. I haven't seen or heard from him since."

"Sam, what route does Marvin normally take home?" The Queen asked.

"Marvin lives on the edge of Dark Kingdom. If you go left from this place, to the end of the street, you'll see a back ally, just go through there and you'll go to another street. Marvin's house is on that street, number 7."

"Thankyou." Lilly thanked Sam, and then hugged him.

Lilly and the Queen followed Sam's directions to look for Marvin; Sam left to go to the shooting range once they were out of sight.

There was no sign of Marvin in the ally, quickly the two girls reached Marvin's house. His door was locked. The Martian Queen used her gun to open the door. She opened it to find a tidy house, a contrast to the messy one she'd just visited. Just as her feet sank into the thick, green, carpet she heard a whimpering.

A green dog walked in, his tongue hanging out, panting, dehydrated and hungry. Lilly followed the queen inside and noticed the distressed dog. "K9." She gasped. She knelt down to the dog's level and looked up at the Queen. "Marvin loves this dog, he'd never neglect him. I'll sort him out, you search the house."

The Queen nodded and ran upstairs. Both girls had missed the pile of mail lying by Marvin's front door. As the Queen was searching the house, Lilly fed and watered K9. K9 drank four bowls of water within a minute and ate three bowls of biscuits in a second minute. The Queen ran down frantically. "He's not here." She panted.

The two girls left the house, went back to Sam's and took their spaceship to Mars. Lilly texted Sam and explained everything, telling him that a Martian centurion was on its way to repair Marvin's door and not to worry about his house and dog. Lilly and the Queen were taking K9 back to the Martian Palace with them.

"What do we do now?" Asked Lilly

"We reach out for help." Answered the Queen

Chapter Four

The Queen rushed to her throne room and quickly put on her intercom to call the Galactic Protectorate. Lilly was panting behind her, struggling to keep up.

"This is Doctor IQ Hi from the Galactic Protectorate." A familiar voice introduced whilst the screen was still opening. "Oh, Queen Tyranhee, it's you, is everything ok, I've just heard the news of Z9 escaping prison." IQ asked, concerned.

"Unfortunately, not, the commander is missing. He didn't come into work this morning, we've searched his house and he's not there. Plus, his dog was found dehydrated and malnourished. He hasn't been seen since last Saturday, when he went to a friend's house for a drink."

"Oh dear, this sounds very serious indeed. Have you tried calling him?"

"Yes, and we've had nothing. This isn't like him. Ignatius, we wouldn't often contact you, but we're desperate and very concerned."

"Understandably your majesty, I'll send over our two best protectorate officers immediately."

"Thankyou."

Once the Martian Queen had left the video call, IQ nervously contacted Duck Dodgers.

"This is Doctor IQ Hi calling Duck Dodgers, come in Duck Dodgers."

Just as IQ came visible on Dodger's screen, a piercing screen could be heard coming from the duck. "Ahhhhhh! That was the good part! Put it back! Put it back!" Scolded Dodgers, furious that his game show (Total Wipeout) had been turned off for IQ's call.

"DODGERS!" IQ scolded, "Pay attention! It may have come to your attention that General Z9 has escaped from prison on Saturday evening."

"Z9, but we got rid of him?" Questioned Dodgers

"Well now he's back. We've just received a call from The Queen of Mars. The commander has gone missing."

"You mean Martian runt? Who cares!"

"It doesn't matter what he's done Dodgers, it is your duty as a protective officer to protect, no matter if the victim is good or evil."

"He's right captain, be the bi-bi-bi-better person." Cadet agreed from the side.

"Fine, but I expect a bonus for this."

"Deal." IQ sighed, ending his call with Dodgers before Dodgers had a chance to change his mind.

Dodgers sighed heavily and fell back into his chair. "Cadet, set a course to Mars." He huffed, folding his arms like a petulant child. Cadet rolled his eyes, knowing that both Commander X2 and Duck Dodgers would be nothing without each other, and wouldn't know what to do without each other. He had seen several times that despite their differences, the pair deeply cared for each other. Even though Dodgers would never admit it, he will be concerned for the Commander's wellbeing.

Marvin stared up at Z9, knocking back his tears. Z9 sighed and rolled his eyes. "Marvin, remember when we used to work together in the Martian army? When we were both just fresh out of college and shared the same office for a year, before you got moved to your own?" Z9 asked. Marvin nodded, and despite everything he couldn't help but smile. "I remember how you used to like everything neat, tidy and even. I didn't mind a bit of clutter, but everything had to be neat, tidy and even with you. Despite what you've done to me lately, I'm not ashamed to say I've learnt something from you. It's nice when things are neat, tidy and even." At those last three words, Z9 picked up the old ball on chain, much to Marvin's horror. Marvin knew what Z9 was about to do. Slowly he sat up and attempted to shuffle back, however Z9 was too quick for him. This wouldn't usually be the case, but Marvin was ill and injured. Z9 shattered the top part of Marvin's legs and both of his kneecaps with four blows to each leg. The poor Martian was whimpering in high pain, moving his arms towards his newly broken bones.

Z9 didn't show Marvin much mercy, he hoisted him up onto his feet. It took everything Marvin had to keep standing, he was relying entirely on his feet. Everything from ankle up was broken, on both sides.

"Please, let me crawl." Marvin pleaded through his inflamed larynx and swollen vocal cords. He was barely audible. Z9 couldn't understand a word Marvin was saying. Even if he did, he wouldn't make anything easier for Marvin anyways. Marvin was forced to walk on two completely broken legs, back to the room with the couch. Marvin immediately knew why he was in there; Z9 was going to hypnotise again.

Marvin debated whether to let him or not. Whilst under hypnosis, Marvin couldn't feel no pain. He was just rocked off to sleep. Sleep is all he needed right now. It was a break from the fear, and pain from two completely broken legs, influenza, and definite laryngitis. Alongside the pharyngitis and tonsillitis that Marvin didn't yet know he was suffering from.

However, what if Z9 told him to give secrets that belonged to the Martian army, and he gave them, unable to do anything about it. Even though he couldn't speak, Z9 could still have him write it down. If not that he could force him to do the most humiliating and degrading acts and he wouldn't even know he was doing it, or remember he was doing it. Who knows what Z9 could black mail him with, or humiliate him with later?

Marvin concluded that he was going to either fake it or not look at the emerald. Then he remembered Z9 having him at gun point the previous day. He had to no choice. He was going to have to go under.

Interrupting his train of thought, Z9 hoisted Marvin up and threw him on to the couch. Marvin just looked at him, preparing to stare back into the green emerald and go helplessly under. Instead of pulling out his pendulum, Z9 pulled out a small bottle of water and handed it over to Marvin. "Drink!" He demanded.

Marvin didn't need to be told twice. He took the bottle of water and drank the drink, which was spiked with viral gastrogenesis. Z9 then gave him another which was spiked with the pathogen that causes mumps. Marvin tried to muster out the word "thankyou", but it was no use.

Just as he was about to scratch his itchy stomach, which was just starting to grow a chicken pox rash, his eyes were greeted by the swinging green emerald. Back, forth. Back, forth. Marvin slowly lost his awareness of where he was and time, as he slipped into that longed for deep sleep, as Z9's words wrapped around him like a thick and heavy blanket.

Chapter Five

"This better not be a trap Queenie, because if it is…" Dodgers began, storming angrily into the Martian palace, with the attitude that this was all a waste of this time and that Commander X2 would pop out with a gun and take both himself and his cadet prisoner with centurion robots to back him up, and then proceed to take over the Earth with nothing to stop him.

"Oh c-c-captain Dodgers do calm down." The Cadet ran after Dodgers, barely keeping up, trying to talk reason into his boss, before he noticed the Martian Queen glaring down at the two of them and Lilly looking offended and furious.

"Marvin might be in grave danger and you march into this palace and accuse us of lying and wasting your time!" Lilly yelled, tears streaming down her face.

"Ha ha! OMG his name is Marvin. Oh my gosh, what a loser! Marvin! Who in their right mind names their kid, Marvin? No wonder he turned out so evil." Dodgers laughed. Cadet tapped his shoulder, drawing his attention to the Martian Queen who had her gun pointed directly at the dumb duck. "He-he, sorry queenie and friend."

Cadet slapped Dodgers across the face and then asked. "I re-reser-looked at the Universe News Site and Martian News Site on our way here. It's true. Z9 has escaped j-j-jai-prison."

"Yes, Cadet that has been confirmed." Stated the Queen. "Myself and the commander's friend Lilly here are extremely concerned. Lilly has not seen or heard from him in days and he has not turned up to work all week. This is not like him. I can tell you from experience that the commander is never late to leisure or work meetings and has a high attendance record at work. He was been working here, at the Martian Palace for three years and he has never called in sick or missed a shift. In fact, I have had to send him home with illnesses and injuries when he was in no fit state to be here five times over the three years he's worked here. I fear there is something seriously wrong."

"And this has nothing to do with you leaving him at the alter last month?" Dodgers asked.

"No. He continued to come to work as normal after that incident." Answered the queen. "In most cases I would consider that as a possibility."

"Please Mr. Dodgers myself and her majesty searched Marvin's home and we found his dog dehydrated and starved. Marvin was no where to be seen. Something is seriously wrong." Lilly pleaded.

"And that Martian has it in his heart to care for an animal? Seriously, I'm surprised he doesn't let it starve on purpose."

"Captain Dodgers this is serious!" Scolded the Cadet. "Z9 is free and he cu-cu-cu-might try and take over Earth and Mars again! The commander de-de-defeat-stopped him last time. If we find Z9 we most likely find the commander and get Z9 back in jail."

"So, we find Martian runt and the universe is saved?"

"Yes."

"Oh, why didn't you say so? Ok, down to business. Queenie do you have any idea where Z9 could be hiding?"

The Queen thought for a moment, and then smiled. "There is an abandoned underground jail used for Mars' criminals on the other end of Mars in an isolated area. Mars used to use it as a prison before be started using Guantanamo Bay with the rest of the universe."

"Is it accessible to anyone your highness?" Asked Lilly.

"Just royals and royal workers. We all know the code for it."

"Which means Z9 and Marvin both know the code!" Lilly exclaimed with excitement.

"I-I-It wu-wu-would explain why there have been no sightings of Z9 in the p-p-past week. Everyone on Mars knows who he is and what he looks like." Added Cadet.

"Cadet, Dodgers you two and I will take the nearest Martian ship with as many centurion robots we can find and we will go to that jail and search it. Lilly you need to stay here and look after K9." Stated the Queen.

"But why, I want to help too! Pretty please?" Whined Lilly

"I know Miss. Lilly, but you are the only one with military training and I myself have training in the Martial arts. Z9 is a large man who is very dangerous and powerful, we don't want you in trouble or hurt." Explained the Queen.

"I understand." Lilly sighed, staring at her shoes disappointingly.

"Sorry but who's K9?" Dodgers lisped.

"That's the name of Marvin's dog." Answered Lilly.

"So, he basically just named it dog, how nice of him." Dodgers rolled his eyes sarcastically. The Queen then dragged Dodgers to the ships by his collar with the Cadet following behind.

Meanwhile Z9 was sitting comfortably on a leather recliner which he had found in the abandoned main office of Mars' old and forgotten underground prison. He took a cocktail from his prisoners shaking hands as he was struggling to stand on two broken legs, which he had been conditioned not to feel. Z9 sipped down his drink and put the glass back in Marvin's hands. "Good boy, now go and wash this glass, then go and hoover the cells for me and finally go up to the kitchens and make me my tea: steamed ham, honey glazed with chips." Marvin simply just nodded and walked away to clean the glass. He then tripped over his own broken legs, falling on to his chest, the glass smashing on the ground.

Furiously Z9 marched towards Marvin and hoisted him up by his right arm. "You clumsy oaf!" He yelled. He then twisted Marvin's right arm in three areas, breaking it and then dropping him to the ground, before hoisting him to his feet. "Now go and take care of the fucking tea and then you can spend the whole night hoovering the floors of the cells, polishing all of the cell bars and scrubbing all of the floors and surfaces and if that does not take you all night you can do my laundry and draw me a warm bath to wake up to!"

Marvin simply nodded and took himself to the kitchen and got to work making the ham. He brought to Z9 with a glass of wine. Z9 tried it and smiled. "Very good slave." He grinned. "How's about a little reward, you'd like that wouldn't you?" Z9 picked Marvin up and sat him down on a seat on the opposite end of the table. He then returned with a glass of wine, spiked with the mumps virus, and a slither of ham on a plastic plate. Z9 even stuck a juice in Marvin's glass, "rest that broken arm of yours for a few minutes", he said.

Z9 then retired to his bed as Marvin set off to work. Z9 woke up to Marvin collapsed and asleep from pure exhaustion on the floor in the middle of the cell block amongst the sparkling and hoovered floors and bars of all 2000 cells. Z9 hoisted Marvin off the floor and shook him awake, his heavy eyes slowly opened. "I said if the cleaning of the cells did not take you all night you also had to do my laundry and draw me a bath and neither of those are done and I caught you sleeping. Clearly the cleaning did not take you all night, therefore you have disobeyed me!" Z9 scolded. He then proceeded to break Marvin's left arm and kick him in the ribs, fracturing most of them.

"Up on your feet!" Z9 yelled, before looking down at Marvin, realising what he had just done then snapped his fingers. Pain instantly shot through Marvin's body as he began to cry heavily with excoriating pain and close his eyes due to severe nausea. He tried to plead with Z9 to reason, he had been through worse in the past week than Z9 had been through in prison for 1 year. If Marvin had a choice to spend 1 year in Guantamino Bay or repeat this past week with Z9 he would choose Guantamino Bay in less than a second. However, all Marvin's pleading came out was noiseless mumbling.

Z9 picked Marvin up and carried him over his broad shoulders and took him back to his original cell. He then forced Marvin on to all fours and cuffed his hands together and tying his legs together, cementing him on all fours, he finally placed the collar on Marvin's neck chaining him to the wall. "If you won't work as my slave, then you will be my pet until time comes to turn you in to the Galactic Protectorate." Z9 stated. Marvin did not know how to respond; he did not think there was anything more Z9 could do to him. Marvin struggled to move his broken arms to scratch his itchy chest which was covered in chicken pox as well as his arms, legs, and neck. However, it was impossible for him to move his arms due to the handcuffs. Z9 just laughed and left Marvin alone.

He later came back with a bowl of dog biscuits and water spiked with measles and scarlet fever. Marvin drank the water with great effort, he found it difficult to drink out of a bowl, but it was he only way he could drink. He refused the dog biscuits. He then lay himself down on his side, causing a stabbing pain in his ribs and then closed his eyes, hoping to sleep. Sleep was the only thing that could relieve him from the extreme pain of his broken bones and multiple illnesses. He was very weak and sleepy, but the pain he was suffering was preventing him from sleeping.

The Queen, Dodgers and Cadet set their ship down a few feet from the prison. The Queen lead the two Earthlings up to the prison entrance, followed by a huge army of centurion robots. "Dodgers, Cadet I will send the centurions in first and they will report back to us as soon as they have disabled the general, then we go in and find the commander." The Queen instructed. The Queen typed in the code and sent in the large army of centurions. The centurions glided down into the prison two by two. "Now we wait." The Queen commented nervously.

The centurion robots entered the prison and began searching. They quickly found Z9 in the staff room, watching the news on the TV. "Still no sighting of me, perfect." He grinned, lighting a large cigar and leaning back into his chair. He was shocked to be surrounded by the threatening shadow of many centurion robots. "You are under arrest by the orders of her majesty, Queen Tyranhee of Mars." Stated the first centurion. Z9 pulled out his gun from his chest and shot the centurion, in the chest, disabling it forever. He then shot all around him, doing the same to several centurion robots; until one centurion floated above Z9 and landed on him and dug it's sharp metal claws into Z9's shoulders and electrocuted him. This was enough to knock Z9 to the ground and for his gun to slip from his hands, just like Marvin's did when Z9 kidnapped him. The remaining robots followed suit and electrocuted Z9 to the point he slipped into ironic unconsciousness. The irony was not lost as Z9 as he was defeated in an eerily similar way to the method, he used to kidnap Marvin.

Most of the centurions surrounded the unconscious Z9, creating a robotic wall. One of the centurions went to the entrance with The Queen, Dodgers and Cadet. "Z9 has been located and disabled, it is safe for you to go in."

"Thankyou Centurion. Take me to Z9, Dodgers Cadet search the prison and find the commander." Commanded the Queen.

The three of them entered the prison. The Queen followed the centurion whilst Dodgers and Cadet went towards the cells. The Queen angrily approached the unconscious Z9 and cuffed his arms around his back. Z9 began to stir, meeting the Queen's eyes "You are under arrest general." She hissed before knocking him out with a karate chop.

Dodgers and Cadet entered the cells and looked in every single one. "This sure is clean for somewhere been left to rot for so many years." Dodgers observed. Cadet nodded before hearing moaning and the sound of vomiting from a couple of cells up. Cadet wondered and ran towards the cell. He gasped at what he saw, despite being enemies with Marvin most of the time, Cadet was disgusted and saddened by what he had just observed.

Cadet shot open the door. Marvin opened his eyes and was immediately embarrassed and over whelmed with the feeling of shame that his arch enemy Duck Dodgers was about to see the state he was in and was most likely never going to let it go. Dodgers was not far behind Cadet; he entered the cell as Cadet was untying Marvin's legs.

Dodgers just froze in pure shock. He knew full well everything Marvin had done, and yet he agreed he did not deserve this. He knelt down to the sobbing Martian's side and whispered to him, almost crying himself. "Marvin, itsh alright. We're going to take you home." Marvin just smiled as the Cadet opened his cuffs with a paper clip and Dodgers carried him over his shoulders and back to the Queen's ship.

When the Queen saw Marvin, she gasped in complete and utter horror. She took him off Dodgers and held him in her arms. "Commander are you ok?" She asked, despite the fact she knew the answer. Marvin simply just shook his head. "Set a course for the hospital!" Demanded the Queen.

"Wa-wait what about Lilly?" Asked Cadet.

"I will get a commander to take her to meet us there." Answered the Queen.

Chapter Six

The Queen rushed as fast as she could, at speeds that would impress Speedy Gonzales himself, through the A&E department of the hospital. She thumped her fist with a clang on the main desk and told the younger receptionist with urgency, "my commander needs medical attention, now!"

The receptionist looked up with her, feeling her panic and called two doctors to follow the queen out with a stretcher. The doctors gently carried Marvin on to the stretcher, both incredibly concerned as they could feel his bones were broken and incorrectly placed, and could see his face was a dark grey instead of jet black and had developed two different types of rash.

They rushed him into a private examination room when one doctor immediately proceeded to taking Marvin's temperature whilst the other took some blood from his arm. Marvin did not even flinch at the harsh prick of the needle. "He's running a fever of 250oC." Stated the first doctor as the other put the blood into a vile to be sent to pathology immediately.

"We need to strip him down to take down the fever and then get him to X-Ray Stat." Said the second. Both proceeded into removing Marvin's red and sweaty jumper, metal skirt, trousers and trainers revealing his shockingly mangled legs. All that was left on the small Martian was a pair of white underpants and his helmet which was removed revealing messy, wet blonde hair which the Queen proceeded to stroke, hoping to give Marvin some reassurance.

Dodgers was rooted to the spot in shock whilst Cadet was on the verge of tears. Cadet decided he had to leave the room and Dodgers agreed to fetch Lilly through whilst the Queen stayed with Marvin. Dodgers met Lilly on the outside of the hospital and lead her into the examination room. Lilly burst into tears when she saw the state Marvin was in and that is when Dodgers could not take anymore himself. He ran outside and back to the ship. He could hear the Cadet sobbing in the main area of the ship and Dodgers sat on the bridge and burst into tears himself. He knew him and the commander did not get along and that the commander was almost always unpleasant with him at the very least and had carried out some of the most terrible of crimes against him and his planet, but even Dodgers agreed that Marvin did not deserve that and it was terrible to see him in such a state.

Dodgers and Marvin had also had good times together and had ended up working together on occasion and succeeded in most of their missions. Dodgers did not like to admit it, but despite rarely getting on with Marvin and mocking him as much as he could, Dodgers deep down cared for the Martian and was desperate for him to recover and start plotting to destroy the Earth again for Dodgers to defeat. The commander was the moon to his sun, the dark to his light, the yin to his yang and Dodgers was nothing without him. He plucked up the courage to swallow his pride and went to his Cadet, his eyes red as cherries with tears and cuddled into him as the pair cried together.

Back in the hospital the doctors had managed to cool Marvin down using wet sponges and flannels and had placed him in an X-Ray machine which photographed everything from neck down. They had already done an endoscopy to examine Marvin's throat where they managed to diagnosis severe tonsillitis and laryngitis on the spot. They also managed to feel Marvin's skull and neck and be 100% certain there was no damage to either.

After the X-Rays the doctors got Marvin a pair of thin, neon line green pyjamas and dressed the immobile Martian in them and then carrying him to his bed and tucking him in. This brought Marvin no comfort. He went to be confined to a cell to confined to a bed. It was not like being free, it was like being a prisoner elsewhere.

The doctors immediately let Lilly into the room. Lilly walked to Marvin's bed and stoked his hand. "Marvin, it's me Lilly." Marvin let out a small grin, he was happy to hear Lilly's voice; he felt too weak to open his eyes and the bright light of the hospital room would cause a throbbing headache and slight pain in his eyes. "It's going to be ok. When your better why don't me and you take a long trip somewhere?" She asked, Marvin slowly nodded in response. Lilly kissed him on the forehead, getting a small shock when she felt the extreme temperature of his fever. "Sam is on the way and the hospital has allowed K9 to have one visit. I have been caring for him at the palace, he is ok." Lilly explained, Marvin smiled and opened his eyes slightly, too weak to leave them open for long or to open them fully.

Five minutes later Sam was led into the room by the Queen. Sam was struggling to hold back the excited Martian blood hound. K9 managed to escape Sam's grip. "Woah doggy woah!" Sam yelled as he fell forwards to the ground as K9 ran up enthusiastically to his master's bed. K9's mood instantly fell when he saw the state his master was in. He licked Marvin's hand with no response but a heavy sigh. The dog rubbed its head around Marvin's hand and then started crying. Lilly stroked the dog's back and whispered "it's ok, he'll be fine". Sam then approached the bed and was immediately shaken by the state his closest friend was in.

Sam was instantly filled with pure anger. "Who did this?" He growled. "Where is the fucker that did this? Let me at the varmint!" He stormed, pulling out a gun, ready to fire it in the air until the Queen snatched it.

"The person who did this was a disgraced ex Martian commander, commander Z9. He has been left alone and chained down in a cell of an abandoned Martian prison and has been stripped of all weapons on his person. A Martian centurion will bring him his meals 3 times a day, but he will only be given the cheapest of meals and food, we will not be spending a fortune on him. He will remain there for life. I can assure you that I have served justice."

"Yeah, you're not so bad Queenie." Sam smiled and then came closer to his friend. "Hear that Marv, Queenie over there has got some justice for ya. Isn't that good news?" Marvin nodded and opened his eyes slightly looking at Sam.

A doctor then entered the room. "We have completed all examinations of X-Rays and tests on Mr. Marvin Martian." He started. "Marvin has two broken arms, 6 broken ribs and two broken legs. His arms and ribs will recover naturally with a few weeks in casts, however both legs need extensive reconstructive surgery. The results from the blood tests show that Marvin's immune system has been partially disabled and he has tested positive for mumps, chicken pox, pharyngitis, two strains of flu, scarlet fever, measles and viral gastrogenesis. He will recover from all of these in time with a blood transplant, the MMR vaccine and antibodies from the other viruses. They will do enough to allow Marvin to recover from all of these in normal time. Once Marvin's legs and ribs are fixed and his fever has gone done to 150 or less, then we will be happy for him to continue his recovery from home, but until then we need him to stay at the hospital. We also found that he's malnourished and dehydrated. Tonight, we would like to give him both the blood transplant and a drip to bring is sugar and water level back to normal. Then we would like to give a general anaesthetic so he can sleep for the rest of the night. We will decide next week when we are going to carry out the surgery on both Marvin's legs and remove his tonsils. Both will be separate procedures. Marvin will need to complete physio at the hospital to learn how to walk again, but apart from that he should make a full recover in time with no changes to his job or life style."

Marvin was hooked up to a Martian blood sample and a drip. He was then allowed to be visited by his mother Martha and his older brother Martin. Martin's wife Molly was at home with Martin's 5-year-old daughter Marcia so that Martin decided if it was suitable for Marcia to visit her uncle now or later. The decision was later. Martin just looked down at his younger brother distraught.

He remembered his little brother as a child. From running around as a toddler with a plastic gun shouting "boom boom" in a high pitched baby voice, pretending to shoot other people in the house and other toddlers in day-care; from being in elementary school and boasting about cheating in playground games and jumping out and scaring others from his hiding spots and laughing manically at other children's and adult's shocked reactions; then to being in his teams performing science experiments and laughing at the pranks and number of detentions he had built up at school from said pranks with his best friend at the time Pete. That lively, hyper and sneaky young man was now lying helplessly in a bed like a baby from an ordeal that lasted days, not weeks or months, days. It was unbelievable that someone could be so cruel and violent.

Martha was just holding her son's casted broken wrist, as she could not hold his hand confidently around the needle. "Marvin, mother's here, I love you, you will be ok, I promise." She then tearfully turned around The Queen. "Please tell me you have the basted who did this to my son?"

"I can assure you Mrs. Martian that we have caught the person responsible and the appropriate punishment has been inflicted." Reassured the Queen.

"Thankyou." Smiled Martha.

As time went by Marvin recovered and gained more strength every day. His bed came surrounded by sweets, gifts and get-well cards from Marvin's friends and relatives and he eventually became healthy enough for Martin to feel happy to bring his five-year-old niece for a visit. Marcia excitedly jumped on to her Uncle's chest and cuddled him tight to Marvin's smile. Marvin eventually got to recover from home, Lilly moved in to Marvin's for a while to help him with daily tasks as he was still using a wheel chair for the majority of the time and using crutches for short periods of the day which were quickly building up. By this point his tonsils had been removed, his legs had had their surgery and his illnesses were almost gone. He was still sneezing and coughing a lot from the flu, had a couple of spots on his stomach from the chicken pox and did have to make quick trips to the toilet from the gastrogenesis, but apart from that he was fine in himself and before long Sam was visiting for a Saturday night drink again. Marvin and Sam had not had a drinking night in three months.

Marvin was eventually fully recovered from all illnesses and injuries but often appeared scared or tearful and was sometimes quick to anger (but always straight away apologetic for this), he often seemed down, depressed and jumpy, and often had nightmares off his ordeal with Z9. Marvin was diagnosed with PTSD and was told he would recover from this in time with therapy.

Marvin was also tired frequently and sometimes struggled to sleep at night, he told Lilly that sometimes it felt like he was a bat. He suffered sore throats, dizziness, nausea and headaches along with occasional joint pains. He could still carry out everyday tasks and get along with his day as normal, but he would sometimes get occasions where he felt very ill with this. After four months of monitoring he was diagnosed with CFS, a tiredness condition which is life long and can be caused by extreme illnesses, mental health problems and traumatic experiences. Marvin took a long time to come to terms with this, but at least it was nothing serious.

One year later Marvin and Lilly were on a trip away on a beach resort on the south of Mars for a week. They were talking together hand in hand on a beach pear at sunset their faces sticky with cotton candy and ice-cream and both laughing about their experience on a rollercoaster at the fair. The two sat on the peer, their legs dangling in the salty sea air. Marvin rested his left arm around Lilly who cuddled in. "This has been a great week." Marvin said.

"You deserve every minute after all you've been through." Lilly said.

"It doesn't matter I have you and I'm better. Kidnapping or not, we would've done something like this together at some point. I really enjoy being with you." Marvin responded with a smile.

"I enjoy being with you too."

Marvin gazed at Lilly's bright blue eyes. On impulse he kissed her on the cheek, and then backed away, realising what he had just done. "Sorry." He mumbled, "I don't know what came over me."

"It's ok Marvin. I love you too." Lilly admitted, before wrapping her arms around Marvin's neck and kissing him on the cheek.

Marvin and Lilly embraced each other until the sun went down and the stars were shining bright before walking back to their hotel at the start of a beautiful and permanent relationship which no-one and nothing could ever break.
