This little story came to me a few days ago after watching a Darvey video and I just couldn't not write it. I was a bit insecure about my writing after not writing anything for about two months but I hope it turned out quite well. Thank you to my amazing beta Aimee! I couldn't do this without you!

Before you go

Their hands brush against each other just for a second before she takes his hand. He squeezes hers in response. Thanking her for being there. For always being there for him, no matter what.

In a way, she was even there for him when she left to work for Louis. After he had just blurted out that he loved her, only to run away from his feelings again. Donna had been there for him in a way. Harvey had just recently understood that.

He had needed this! He needed to try to handle his life without her for a while to understand what she really meant to him.

And without her he was nothing. He was just a lawyer. A lawyer with a complicated relationship with his family and a person who would never let anyone in.

With her, he was Harvey, the best closer in New York. Someone who still kept his feelings burried and only let the people in who deserved his trust.

The time apart from her had taught him a lot. He had learned that having feelings and being open with people about them didn't make him weak. It made him stronger! Having her in his life made him a stronger and better person.

He needs her like he needs air to breathe. And Jessica leaving made that even more clear to him. He can't live without Donna and he most certainly doesn't want to. Ever! He doesn't want to spend another second without her by his side.

And that is why he tugs on her hand that is still intertwined with his to make her look at him. Harvey's view is slightly directed downwards but his eyes are looking shyly up to her. He is not sure how she will react to what he is going to do next, but he was never as sure as he is in that moment that he just has to do it. He has to take that risk just once and hope that she won't be the one running this time.

His eyes now move up to her's and he gets lost in the hazel colour. He can't believe how beautiful her eyes are. It has been a long time since he looked into them from such a short distance. There are some lighter spots in her irises that give them something special. A small smile tugs on his lips. He is trapped in the way she just looks back at him. Harvey doesn't know what she is thinking but since she does not move away from him it can't be something bad.

His gaze flickers to her lips for just a short second before going back to her eyes. For a moment, he thinks that Donna smiles at him yet it's gone before he can fully register it.

Their hands are still intertwined. His free hand slowly moves up her arm. He can feel her body shiver slightly at his touch but doesn't stop his movement. The left hand comes up to rest on her cheek. She carefully leans her face into it.

Now he is sure there is a slight smile on her face. Their eyes are locked and he unhastly leans closer to her. It is like he is drawn to her like a magnet. Their faces are inching closer and in the back of his mind he is surprised that she is neither stepping away nor leaning back. She just stands there waiting for whatever he is about to do. She trusts him.

Her lips are sweet and soft when his lips make the first contact with them in over a decade. Harvey just rests his lips on hers not going any further yet because she may still decide that this isn't what she wants. And he would understand it if she chose to run. He understands the urge to run from a situation that makes you vulnerable to another person far too well to judge her if she did just that in this very moment.

Instead of pulling away she leans into him a bit herself to press their lips even closer together. Carefully he starts to move his mouth on hers and she complies. Harvey loosens their intertwined grip and instead places both of his hands on her waist to softly pull her closer. Her hands meanwhile move up around him caressing the short hair at the nape of his neck keeping his face close.

Harvey turns them so that her back is now to the window and lets his hands wander a bit lower until they lay on her butt. He squeezes her through her flowery dress and takes advantage of her gasp to let his tongue slide over her bottom lip and into her mouth.

The kiss is still slow and it just feels so right to him to take the time to get reacquainted with each other before letting the built up desire from years of pining take over them. He never thought he would get to feel her like this again. So close in his arms, while their tongues brush against each other getting used to the feeling again.

Donna doesn't taste like strawberries and whipped cream this time. She just tastes like Donna. He can't pinpoint what it is exactly. But he knows that he loves it.

He presses her more against the cabinet in front of the window moving his hands to the back of her thighs to lift her onto it. She squeals in surprise before placing her lips on his neck nipping at the soft skin moving down to his collarbone. She remembers, from the other time, that he has a spot on his neck that made him hers back then. Donna lets her nose graze above it taking his scent in. She remembers the smell of his aftershave and immediately feels more at home in his arms even though all of this is new.

Her tongue flicks the spot before she sucks the skin between her lips making him let out a soft moan.

"Donna," he nudges her head away from his neck to reconnect their lips again. This time their kiss is more urgent and her tongue invades his mouth within seconds. It is like someone just opened the gates to all the feelings that they held back over the years, hidden behind looks and gestures that said more than their words could at the time.

Harvey pulls her closer to his body again and lifts her from the furniture back onto her feet, not breaking the kiss for one second before he abruptly pulls away from her.

Donna looks up at him with a slightly scared look just like a deer caught in the headlights. But Harvey just looks at her with a gaze that says everything he has wanted to tell her over the years and more.

"I am in love with you, Donna. Please let me take you home," he whispers lightly with his deep voice still a bit out of breath from the kiss they just shared. Donna can't believe what her ears had just heard. Tears start forming in her eyes and she just nods at his suggestion.

Harvey plants another peck on her lips, and then intertwines their fingers again, grabbing his belongings and leading her out of his office.

He is going to take her home and show her how much she means to him. Maybe not everything at once but he has the time now. To let her in on every single moment where she had made him feel like he would never be alone. Whether she was present or not she was there and his compass with everything she did to help him become the man that he is now. A man that can finally admit to himself and her that he has been deeply in love with her all this time.

Sometimes the realisation about what you feel for someone takes a bit longer. But that doesn't mean that the feelings you have are less intense. It just says that you needed more time to accept them and to make sure they are real. Taking your time is never wrong, just don't miss the moment to tell someone what you feel. Don't lose them because you are a coward. Open your mouth and scream them from the rooftops. So everyone can see that you aren't a cold and heartless person but just protecting yourself from a broken heart. Just be yourself. If the person you desire knows you, they will understand the time you've taken. To open up your mind and heart to let in the love that you deserve.
