They both had a long week. At the start of the week, they had surgery on a young girl with liver laceration. It was even the week of Christmas but they were still working in the hospital.

Flashback

During surgery..

"By the way, how did she get hurt?" One doctor said.

"She was on a scooter and tripped over a speed bump. And the handle hit her stomach pretty hard. " Jeong Won answered.

"I bet her parents are heartbroken. How sad must they be?" The doctor said again.

Out of nowhere, someone's stomach rumbled. It was Dr. Jang's stomach. Jeong Won only looked at her, as if saying 'you haven't eaten?'.

Her stomach rumbled again.

"Dr. Jang, your parents must be very heartbroken too if they knew you don't even have time to eat at work. Dr. Jang, I'll buy you something delicious later." The other doctor said. "No. Prof. Ahn, treat her to a delicious meal. I've been seeing her around the most lately."

"No, it's okay." Dr. Jang said quietly.

"Mixter, please. Suture please." Dr. Ahn said in concentration to the surgery.

"If the surgery goes well and the patient recovers, I'll take you out for a nice meal." He said again, surprising Gyeoul.

All she could say was thank you, and the rest was history.

End of Flashback

After that surgery, she monitored the kid day and night, hoping that it will recover to have that awaited meal. In 2 days, the kid was discharged from the hospital for recovering quite fast.

On Christmas Day, they were still all on duty. That night, while preparing to leave, Jeong Won heard a faint knock on his office door.

"Who is it?" He called out.

"It's me, Gyeo-ul." He heard someone answered outside the door.

He was surprised to hear that voice. He managed to croak out, "Come in."

There was silence between the two of them, as if waiting for one to speak.

"What is it?" He was the first to break the silence.

"Professor Ahn. I… Professor Ahn… I… I like you" She struggled to say it. "I'm sorry." She continued.

He stayed silent, contemplating on her words. He didn't know what to say.

"Why am I crying? Sorry." She said again with tears threatening to fall from her eyes. "I know it's not my place to say this, but can you please stay at the hospital instead of becoming a priest? Please stay by my side instead of God's."

She knows deep inside that she was being selfish, but she wanted to say it to him, at least for him to reconsider leaving.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry Professor Ahn." She said again with her head bowed down.

At that point, tears were pooling on Jeong Won's eyes, as he listened to her confession. He started standing up to approach her slowly.

A small whimper escaped her sealed lips, as if expecting the worst.

He only looked at her, contemplating on everything she has said. He raised his hand brushing the hair on her head. He left his hand on her nape. She looked up at him in surprise at the gesture. Slowly, he leaned in, capturing her lips in a soft and gentle kiss. Their first kiss.

She was surprised. She kept her eyes open that whole while. She felt his lips moving against her. During those few seconds, she remembered her conversation with Lee Ik Jun at the gardens.

Flashback

Gyeoul's POV

At the garden…

"Gyeoul, since when did you like Jeong-won?" Ik jun asked her.

"Isn't that obvious?" She answered back.

"Is it… like love at first sight?" Ik jun inquired.

"The moment I first saw him. I fell for him the moment I first saw him"

She remembered the time she was introduce to him at the on-call room. She was embarrassed at first because she was then eating an egg drop sandwich and there was a mess at the corner of her mouth. When he was introduced to her, she shook his hand firmly but gently.

There was then one time she was brought to the ER because of Anaphylaxis to NSAIDs. She didn't even know that all this time, he was there outside waiting for news about her.

Jeong Won's POV

He remembers his conversation with Song Hwa 2 days ago.

"Seeing others enjoy good for make you happier than when you are eating it yourself." Song Hwa said to him.

"I'm not like that." He laughed at her.

"You are like that." She retorted.

All he did was laugh at her.

"You made the right decision. Stay here and save more lives." She said again.

"Don't tell the other guys for the time being. There's someone I want to tell first." He said.

She only smiled knowingly and nodded. She stood up to face her small window and opened it.

"Ahh… winter is here. The winter we've been waiting for." She sighed.

End of Flashback.

They were still kissing. This time she is responding to his kisses, eyes closed with satisfaction. For a few moments she savored that feeling of his trembling lips upon hers. Their kisses were salty because of the tears. He pulled away to catch a breath and looked at her. He nodded slowly but didn't say a word. He kissed her again for a short while. Then he hugged her tight, smiling when he felt her arms snake around his waist.

"I decided not too long ago. I'm not leaving anymore. This is my calling." He said looking intently in her eyes.

She was clearly surprised. She didn't hear about this until now. But why would she? It's not like they talk often.

"I'm glad. I really thought you were leaving. I just wanted to say what I said, to give me some peace of mind." She said shyly.

They both noticed that their arms are still at each other's waist, as if never wanting to let go, that if they did, it would just be a dream.

He wiped the tears off her face, gave her a kiss on the forehead, nose and then a smack on the lips. When he let her go reluctantly, she suddenly felt chills, as if all that is keeping her warm was Jeong Won. That's when she noticed that it was snowing out the window.

"Omo! It's the first snow." She said heading towards the window. "They say if you watch the first snow with someone, your love will be fulfilled."

He smiled at hearing this. He slowly approached her, hugging her from behind. He put his head on her shoulder and whispered, "No problem then."

She was initially startled by the action, but then finally relaxing in his arms.

They stayed in that position, watching the first snow with smiles on their faces.

"Gyeoul-ah?" He whispered on her neck.

"Hmmm…?" She hummed.

"Now, how about that meal?" He said playfully.

"You remembered?" She said facing him, still in his arms.

"Of course. I remember everything about you. " He said smiling.

"Hmmp…" She said equally bashful.

"Let's go?" He asked, holding her hand in his.

She only nodded.

"I still need to change in casual clothes. Wait for me?" She asked shyly.

"Of course! I'll wait here." He said with a smile.

"Hmm…" She hummed in agreement.

She started to leave his office but was grabbed by Jeong Won by the hand, turning her around again. She was pulled in for a hug by him.

"Merry Christmas Gyeoul-ah!" He whispered in her ear.

"Merry Christmas Jeong Won-ah!" She answered back to him.

They stayed like that for a moment, before he let her go to change. All the while, the smile on their faces never faded.
