Azai Jin : Possibly.
Druto : Personally I liked all three for different reasons. I think that Tobey's spiderman would probably win in a fight between the three though. But I do like them all even if I understand why other people don't.
Vallavarayan : True, though I'd like to think that the fact that he would've been in there for thousands of years would have eventually took a toll on him.
malinkody : Glad to know you like it.
Chapter 30 -
"Gwen Stacy?" Harry asked. "I've never heard of you before."
"I joined Shield about a year or so after you had joined Mr Potter, or do your prefer Grim?" She asked.
"Potter or Harry will do for now." Harry replied.
"Well the reason you might not have heard of me is because I had requested Mr Fury to keep me a secret." Gwen admitted. "I've been on a few missions since I've joined Shield but at the time I hadn't felt prepared to go into field duty, I knew that if people knew I had abilities then I would be forced into field duty."
"Hmm." Harry nodded, he understood that, she was right in that she would have more than likely been forced or at least pressured into some form of field activity.
"What abilities do you have?" Steve asked.
"Well, I'll give you a clue, my code name is 'Spider-Woman." Gwen said with a small grin.
"We already have a spider." Tony pointed out as he gestured to Natasha.
"Hmm, can she do this?" Gwen asked as she leaned down and pulled her shoes and socks off.
"What are you doing?" Rhodey asked.
"Just this." Gwen said as she walked towards a nearby wall, she placed her hands on the wall before placing her feet on, then to the surprise of everyone else she climbed up the wall like a spider. She was halfway up the wall before turning around and looking at everyone with a smirk.
"No." Harry said suddenly.
"No?" Gwen asked.
"No as in Natasha cannot do that." Harry replied.
"Not my fault." Natasha said with mock offense and a small huff.
"Alright this is unbelievably cool and all but get the hell off my wall." Tony said. "I need to have that cleaned now." He added when Gwen dropped off the wall and began putting her socks and shoes back on.
"There," Harry said after waving his wand over the wall. "it's clean." Harry said to Tony before turning back to Gwen. "Were you born with those powers?"
"Um...no, not really." Gwen said as she shook her head. "I used to intern at a company and there was an incident involving some experimental spiders. And then I ended up getting powers."
"Can you shoot webs?" Natasha asked.
"Not naturally," Gwen shook her head. "I do have some devices that allow me to shoot webs though. Anyway, I am sorry for interrupting your party, but I do have some things to talk with you all about. After the battle you all have become pretty famous, or at least more so than usual, everyone knows that the Avengers had fought for us. Before we continue I have to ask, are you all willing to be Avengers?"
"I'm up for it." Steve nodded, not surprising anyone.
"Me too," Tony nodded. "I think we did good work out there."
"I would also like to join," Thor said. "I'm afraid I will be going back to Asgard soon but I am more than willing to offer my assistance when I return to Midgard."
"I...can I join?" Bruce asked. "I mean, I'm still being hunted by..."
"No," Gwen cut him off. "you're officially listed as an asset for Shield, which means you're off limits. Should you join the Avengers then the same thing applies. After all we can't have a team member worry about being hunted by the government."
"In that case...I'm in...I suppose."
"Great," Gwen smiled at him before looking at Barton. "will you be joining?" she asked.
"Yeah," Barton said after a few moments of thinking. "why not?" He shrugged.
"I'm in as well if you still have available spaces." Rhodey commented.
"I suppose I'll have to join if only to keep the rest of you in line," Natasha smirked before she looked at Harry. "Harry, are you in?" She asked, everyone looked at Harry who had just finished his glass.
"Well," Harry sighed as he walked over to the bar and refilled his glass. "I'm not really sure if I should."
"Why not?" Stark asked with disbelief, something that was echoed by many other people in the room.
"Because I have a few concerns." Harry said as he leaned against the bar and looked at everyone. "I know I will probably sound like a dick by the end of this but these are genuine concerns I have. First of all, what about jobs? Many of us here already have jobs in some form or the other, does everyone have to quit their job for this? Because this sounds like a full time sort of deal."
"No," Gwen shook her head. "you can all still keep your jobs, for example Mr Barton and Miss Romanoff can still work for Shield, but they can divert any extra time to here or quit their jobs and focus primarily on the Avengers, the choice is up to them."
"Perhaps but if this thing is supposed to work then everyone needs to put effort into it," Harry replied. "if everyone's going to be just part timing this shit then we might as well just work with Shield. But I suppose part time will work in this case since I doubt we're going to be actively going out together each and every day. Moving on to something else, are the Avengers working for Shield or with Shield?"
"With," Gwen answered. "you have been given the authority to act if and as you feel necessary, but for the most part you work with Shield, you don't really have to worry though you will have to make reports for me and I will have to give those reports to Fury. And if that's not satisfactory then it's always open for discussion. Do you have any more concerns?"
"Yes actually," Harry nodded. "firstly how is this team supposed to work?"
"What do you mean?" Thor asked.
"Well I don't get what the exact system here is." Harry replied. "I mean, first of all, who is in charge? Who is leading?"
"Cap is in charge." Tony said immediately.
"Is he?" Harry asked. "Look Steve over there is a nice guy and all and I mean no offence when I say this but he's hardly with the times. I mean does he even know who Beyoncé is? Bruce Lee? How about important shit like how to work a laptop and how to use a USB?" Everyone looked at Steve who looked slightly embarrassed. "Plus he's a bit too hopeful for the best in my opinion."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Steve asked, sounding unsure if he should be offended.
"Okay, you from what I've seen and heard are the sort of person who likes to save everyone, protect everyone, do good at every possible moment. But that's not the kind of person I think that should lead. Let me give you a situation, you have to chose between killing a baby to let a ten year old live or let the ten year old die and the baby live, which do you chose?" Harry asked.
"I know that we can't save everyone." Steve said in a heavy voice. "I don't like the fact, but it is a fact, with that being said I will still try my best to save as many people as possible." He said in a determined voice.
"That's honestly a better answer than what I was expecting, but my point has been made. Stark, you can't be leader either seeing as you have no real experience leading a field team, same with Banner. Thor can't be leader because he's going to be a part time member at best, unless he plans to leave Asgard for good and stay here. Even then you're probably the only person on this team who knows less about this world than Steve. I have no interest in leading, I assume Clint and Natasha don't either, am I right?" He asked Clint and Natasha who both nodded.
"Can I perhaps make a suggestion?" Gwen asked in a small voice, as if she was unsure if he should be interrupting.
"I'm all ears." Harry shrugged and everyone else looked at her.
"Well how about you all have Captain America be the leader for now since he is experienced at leading but also have one or two people in an advisory position?" She suggested. "And if you guys don't like that then you can change later."
"I think that works." Pepper commented. "Do you have any other concerns?" She asked Harry.
"Matter of fact I do." Harry said after taking a sip of his drink. "I will admit that we fought in that battle better than I expected us to, but I can't help but point out that we're all very different people. I mean look at Banner, brains yeah but he's also worried about his own shadow, Thor's a prince from Asgard, Stark's a playboy genius with expensive armour, Cap's a soldier from WW2, Widow and Hawkeye are Shield agents with their own lovely little back stories, I'm a wizard from another world."
"Wait what?! You're an alien?!" Rhodey blurted out.
"No, I was born in a different world, you might call it a different dimension or different universe."
"Wow." Tony whispered. "Are you kidding me?"
"No, I was in a world where there was a bunch of other wizards like me, I was born at the end of one war and a second one started when I was fourteen, I started fighting when I was fifteen."
"You were a child soldier?" Pepper gasped, the other looked surprised and even sympathetic, apart from Natasha who had a neutral look on her face.
"I wasn't a child when that war started," Harry shook his head. "I've been fighting and killing since. That's my point, we are all from different worlds with me and Thor being from actual different worlds. Yes we worked good together in the battle but does that really make us a team? Can we be consistent with that? I mean, we've already argued over what to do with Loki, there were the arguments in the hellicarrier. Can we be consistent here? Or is this just something we're supposed to enjoy while it lasts?" Harry asked, looking at everyone, waiting for an answer.
"I think...that this can work." Steve said after a short silence. "You are right in that we need to be consistent, I suggest we all spend time training together, getting to know each other. Becoming friends, understanding each other, then we can decide if this works. Is that all?" He asked Harry.
"I have one last thing, for now at least," Harry sighed. "if we do this, if we are all putting effort into this then I don't want any government involvement."
"Wait what?" Rhodey asked.
"You heard me, no government involvement." Harry repeated.
"Wait a sec, shouldn't we discuss this?" Rhodey asked the group. "I mean no offence but why should we let one guy make all the decisions?"
"I'm not making any decisions for anyone, I'm merely stating that I am not going to be a part of this if there is government interference. Because if we're being controlled by the government then we might as well just scrap this idea and go work for Shield."
"I'm with Harry on this," Natasha spoke up, bringing everyone's attention to her. "our government decided to send a nuke at New York. We were all very lucky to have not been blown up, what if the portal had permanently closed or if it went off before Harry could send it up the portal? We wouldn't be here right now. While I have no intention of stopping my work at Shield, I don't think it's a good idea to give full control of such a powerful group of people to people who were willing to send a nuke at us."
"Exactly," Harry nodded in agreement. "you all want to make the Avengers to help people, correct? Well that's not going to be the priority if we are under the control of others, if we're under government control then our priority goes from the good of the people to the desires of the government."
"Don't you think you're overreacting a little?" Rhodey said with disbelief.
"I don't, look I understand, you served and you take orders and you follow them without question. I have served, in my world I had fought in two different armies. I used to accept orders just like you, but I realized quickly that blindly following orders is not a good thing and I have seen people who have suffered because of it." Harry said in a serious voice.
"There will be no government interference, for now at least," Gwen replied. "I have no doubt that they may try and get involved in the future but for now you don't have to worry. Director Fury is doing everything he can to keep them off of your backs and as long as you report to him that should be enough to satisfy everyone and as long as you don't threaten the world nobody else will need to get involved. So, are you going to join?" She asked.
"I will think about it and give you an answer." Harry responded after a short pause. "I have a few people I need to discuss this with first."
"Fair enough." Gwen replied with a small nod.
"You know, for a wizard, you're not very fun." Tony said to Harry.
"You realize that I can turn all of your alcohol into water?" Harry said in a threatening tone.
"You wouldn't!" Stark gasped in horror.
"Keep pushing and you'll find out." Harry smirked before downing the rest of his drink.
"Alright," Harry said later. "admittedly this was more fun than I expected but I'm going now, so...goodbye everyone."
"Goodbye Harry," Everyone in the room, apart from Natasha, said. Padfoot barked and everyone looked at him. "Goodbye Padfoot." They said, Padfoot grinned before walking out alongside Harry.
"Hey Harry," Natasha followed after him. "if you're going do you mind dropping me off?" She asked.
"Sure." Harry nodded. Padfoot barked before activating the portkey that Harry had built into his collar and portkeying away. "Grab on." Harry offered his arm to Natasha.
"Thank you." She smiled at him and took his arm, a second later the two transported into the middle of Natasha's apartment. "Thanks." She said.
"You're welcome," Harry replied. "so I guess I'll be off then."
"Wait," Natasha said. "the Avengers, do you think it can work?" She asked.
"Honestly, I don't know." Harry admitted. "I see a lot of things that can go wrong with it, so many different people together, each with different experiences and all with the potential to do a lot of damage. But...I can also see a lot of good that can be done if it goes right. It's a gamble really."
"Hmm." Natasha hummed, she looked at him, her eyes locked onto his.
"Nat?" Harry asked, suddenly realizing that she hadn't really let go of his arm.
"Harry." She said in a soft voice. "Do you think 'we' can work?" She asked.
"Honestly...I don't know." Harry replied, his voice equally as soft.
"We can find out, together." She said, as she moved her hands so they were on his shoulders, she pulled him in closer and then she closed her eyes and kissed him.
A.N: Yeah...that seemed like a good place to stop.
Hi guys hope you liked the chapter. One person has asked me what the next few chapters are going to be about, the next chapter is going to be focused on Harry with a touch of Nat. After that there will be one or two more before the dark world. I have a couple ideas I want to use but I'm still sort of deciding how exactly I'm going to do them, hopefully that makes sense to everyone. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed the chapter, feel free to leave a review and enjoy the omakes.
Omake 1 (made by Devildestroyer) :
Tony: Why does my daughter has green eyes? And why are you naming her Morgan, pepper?
Pepper: Um... you see...
Harry: Because Morgan was a witch's name, and so is Pepper's daughter
TOny: But we don't have magic and you said it can only be transferred... son of a b***.
Harry kissed his daughter and disapparated while Tony fainted due to 'performance issues'
Omake 2 :
"Do you think we should help him?" Clint asked Harry.
"Of course not, this isn't just about winning this fight." Harry replied. "This is about his pride, about the safety of the universe, he will see this fight through to the end even if it kills him."
"Help me! For the love of god help me!" Steve cried as Thanos dropped an elbow on his back.
"Like a hero."
Omake 3:
"Why don't girls look at me anymore?" Harry asked Tony, "i mean before they use to talk to me a lot but now they get all scared."
"Oh hi," One girl says as she comes up to Harry. "you're really cute, I was wondering if..." Pauses when she sees Natasha a short distance behind Harry with a gun in her hand a 'back off bitch' sign in her other hand. "never mind" she squeaks before running.
"Ya see?" Harry says to Tony.
Omake 4:
"You...you should have gone for the head." Thanos grinned, he was about to snap his fingers when he suddenly realized he couldn't feel his body. "Why can't I feel my everything?" He asks before his eyes see his headless body fall next to him. "oh." He said with realization.
"Thanks for the advice." Harry nodded to him.
Omake 5:
Harry runs into a room in a panic and slams the door shut, everyone looks at him.
"Harry?" Tony asked. "You alright?"
"Nobody died!" Harry responded quickly.
"Fair enough." Natasha and Clint shrugged before going back to their reading.
"What kind of answer is that?!" Steve blurted out.
