Jackson and Greta are my original characters, but I don't own CSI.

And I reference my story Babysitting, Butterflies And Bug Guys.

And Happy Father's Day!

I wanted to write a Father's Day story with Greta and Jackson. And I wondered how I could use one of Jackson's favorite things to do with his father. And I wondered how they could introduce Greta to one of their favorite things. Here's what I came up with. Hope you enjoy, and pretty please review!

It was a perfect Father's Day. Morgan, Jackson and Greta woke Greg up with breakfast and homemade gifts. And Greg loved spending the morning with his family.

"Dada, did mama do good coffee?" Greta asked as Greg took another sip of the steaming beverage.

"I told her she should let me make the coffee, since she did such a great job with your fruit salad," Morgan said with a wink to Greg.

"Well, you all did a very good job," Greg said as he kissed Greta's nose.

"Hey, dad?" Jackson asked. "Can we go on a bug hunt later?"

Greg smiled, knowing how Jackson loved searching for bugs when he was little. "Well, sure."

Jackson smiled, knowing how he and Greg used to go on bug hunts.

"Me go, baba?" Greta asked.

"Well," Greg said. "This is something your brother wants to do, just us."

"Peese?"

Jackson smiled at his little sister. "Hey, Greta? I have an idea. Come with me." He gently took his sister's hand and helped her off the bed.

"What are you guys up to?" Greg asked as he watched his children amble off. He looked at Morgan, and she simply shrugged.

Greg finished his cup of coffee just as Greta and Jackson came back in. Greta had one of Jackson's books in her hands. Jackson helped her on the bed.

"Okay," Jackson said. "Show daddy."

Greta opened the book to show Greg pictures of butterflies. "Look, dada!"

Greg smiled. "Oh, yeah. Your brother loves butterflies."

"Me love bubberfies too!" Greta said. She pointed to a picture. "Dat is a momark."

"A monarch," Jackson said with a smile. "Someday I'll go see them with Uncle Gil. Greta, you'd like that. There are so many!"

"Yeah," Greg said, knowing how Jackson and Grissom talked about going to see the monarch butterfly migration. Greg smiled at his daughter. "Your brother and Uncle Gil are going to see them one day."

"Yeah, it looks like there's a million!" Jackson said with a smile.

Greta's eyes widened. "Wow!"

Morgan smiled at her family. "Yeah, your brother knows all about butterflies, sweetie." Her eyes shone with love as she watched her family.

Jackson turned a page. "And what's this one?"

Greta looked at the picture. "Dat is a petty yellow," she said with a big smile to her brother.

"A Berger's clouded yellow," Jackson said softly.

"Dat's what I say!" Greta said with a smile. "It yellow!" Greta looked at her brother with a glare only a four year old could make adorable.

"You're both right," Greg said. "Jacks, you remember you told me about it after you spent the night with Aunt Sara and Uncle Gil?"

Jackson smiled at the memory of spending the night with his aunt and uncle when Greta was a baby. If possible, he and Grissom could have stayed up late talking about bugs for hours. "Oh, yeah. Greta, Uncle Gil knows all about butterflies and bugs."

"More dan you?"

"Yep. He taught me and dad all about butterflies and everything."

"He sure did," Greg said. He marveled at the smart, caring person his son was.

"Him teach me?" Greta asked.

"You know, I bet he would," Greg said. He knew his mentor loved seeing Jackson learn more about science, and knew he'd love to show Greta more about butterflies.

"Yeah," Morgan said. She loved seeing both kids so curious about science.

Greta looked at her brother. "Baba, you teach me?"

Jackson smiled at his sister. "Sure I will."

Greta smiled. Just then, it started raining. Everyone looked out the window. "Uh-oh," Morgan said.

"Oh, man," Greg said with a sigh.

Jackson groaned. "So much for the bug hunt."

Greg smiled at his son. "Jacks, we're having one right here." Jackson looked at his father and smiled. "We're looking at bugs, and you're teaching your sister about them."

Jackson's smile grew. "Oh, yeah."

"What dis one, baba? Greta asked as she pointed to another picture.

Jackson looked at the picture and smiled at his sister. "A black swallowtail."

"Petty!"

"And what's this?" Greg asked as Greta looked at another picture.

"That is a tiger swallowtail," Jackson said. "See the yellow wings, Greta? Almost the color of a tiger."

"Petty!" She pointed to another picture. "What dat?"

"A viceroy," Jackson said.

Greg and Morgan loved watching Jackson teach Greta about butterflies. The little girl may not have known their scientific names, but she loved looking at the pictures.

The rain continued to fall, but Jackson was enjoying spending time with his family. He loved seeing how curious his sister was about butterflies and bugs. And everyone just loved the quiet morning together.

Jackson looked at his father. "Hey, dad? I know bug hunts are kind of our thing. But could we bring Greta on one sometime?"

Greg smiled at his son. "I think that is a great idea." They smiled as Greta told Morgan about butterflies in her own little way. Greg smiled softly at his son. "Hey, Jacks?" Jackson looked at his father. "You are really a great scientist. I am proud of you."

Jackson smiled. "Thanks, dad. Love you." He wrapped his arms around Greg in a hug.

"Love you, Jacks." Greg smiled as he hugged his son.

"Me love, too!" Greta said.

Jackson and Greg smiled at the sweet girl. "And you are a very smart girl," Greg said with a warm smile.

"Yeah," Morgan said.

Greta beamed at her family. "Me smart! Bubberfies are cool!"

Jackson laughed softly. "Yeah, butterflies are cool. And so are you."

Greg smiled at his children. "Yeah. You're both cool." Jackson and Greta giggled.

The four of them spent the morning reading about bugs and just enjoying time together. And Greg loved seeing Jackson and Greta together. It was truly a wonderful Father's Day.

The End
