As soon as they were out of the restaurant, Angela went towards their car and made Brennan sit inside.

"Angela, I can drive back home, I did not drink that much!" Brennan protested.

"You are going home with us and staying the night! I have told Sweets to take your car and bring it back tomorrow." Angela said that with a finality in her tone, which brooked no arguments. Generally Brennan would still argue, scoff and point to the lack of logic behind it, but she seemed to lack the power to do that tonight. She just sighed and nodded her head. Angela smiled back grimly, and went to sit in the front sit.

The drive from the restaurant to their place was quiet, with Angela muttering under her breath.

Getting inside their place, Angela placed Brennan on the couch. " Sit sweetie, Honey can you bring something to drink for her and water for me please?"

"Of course babe,Will a beer be fine Dr. B? " Hodgins asked Brennan.

She nodded her head and said, "Thank you, Dr Hodgins."

Hodgins came with a beer and a glass of water for them, "Angie baby, you guys talk, i will just go and freshen up." Angie nodded and Hodgins went away. "Bren, sweetie I am so sorry! I can't believe Booth, how can he do this? How can he think that he will be happy with that desert barbie?!" Angela shouted to practically no one. "He seems happy!" Brennan said. Angels shook her head, "He isn't happy, he is just distracted. I am just sick and tired of men thinking with their dick! And that's exactly what he is doing! Arrgh!" "Angela please calm down, you are pregnant, you shouldn't take so much stress!" Brennan said, concerned. Angela looked at Brennan to see her looking at her worriedly. 'Oh Bren! She is so pure, here the man she is in love with is getting married, and she is worried about me!' Angela thought and she began to cry hugging Brennan. "I'll be fine Angela, don't worry! At least I will get to see him everyday; I don't want to lose him, if he is happy, I am happy and if being his partner and best friend is all I get to keep him in my life, then that's okay with me too!" Angela looked at her surprised, "You still wanna work with him? We thought... " "Of course, I want to work with him, why? what did you think, and who are we?!" Brennan cut her off and asked. "By we, I mean us, Cam, me, Hodgins, Sweets...us, the rest of the team!" Angela said. "Booth is the part of this team, we will not stop working with him! He is my partner, we will still solve cases together. What happens in his personal life doesn't affect our professional setting! It shouldn't, it isn't rational!" Brennan protested. "Ok..ok Bren sweetie calm down. I'll call Cam right now and tell her that we will continue working with Booth. Don't worry, just go and freshen up. Your night clothes are in the closet beside the bathroom, I brought them here with me when we moved." Angela tried to pacify her. "Thanks Angela." Brennan said and got up. "And sweetie?" Brennan turned around to look at her, "don't stop the tears, just let them fall!" Brennan nodded and went away.

Temperance went into the washroom, taking the guest towel and her night clothes. She undressed herself and stood under the shower. As the water poured down her body, the tears fell and suddenly she was crying like she never cried before and with tears memories came in a rush.

"'I'm a gambler.I believe in giving this a chance. Look, I wanna give this a shot.'

'You mean us? No, the FBI won't let us work together...'

' Don't do that, that is no reason..'.

'No! No!'

'Why? Why?'

'You... you thought you were protecting me, but you're the one who needs protecting.'

'Protecting? From what?'

'From me. I...I don't have your kind of open heart.'

'Just... just give it a chance, that's all I'm asking!'

'No, you said it yourself: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome.'

'Well, then let's go for a different outcome, here! All right, let's just hear me out, right? You know when you talk to older couples who, you know, have been in love for thirty or forty or fifty years, all right? It's always the guy who says, "I knew." I knew, right from the beginning.'

'Your evidence is anecdotal.'

' I'm that guy. Bones, I'm that guy! I know.'

' I...I am not a gambler. I'm a scientist. I can't change! I don't know how. I don't know how. Please don't look so sad.'

'All right, okay. You're right. You're right.'

'Can we still work together?'

'Yeah.'

'Thank you.'

'But I gotta move on. You know, I gotta find someone who's -- who's gonna love me in...in thirty years, or forty or fifty.'

'I know'"

She has thought about that day over and over again, she told him no, then why was she so crushed when he is finding what he wanted. Booth always wanted someone to love forever, get married and have kids, now he is getting that. She should be happy, he is her partner and her best friend. But you love him, her mind whispered. Yes, she loves him, and she now knows that she has always loved him. The first time they kissed after their first case, she felt something, she didn't know it then so she blamed the tequila. Then when he reminded her of who she is after she found out about her parents. When she was buried in her car with Hodgins, he wrote a note to Angela, and she wrote to Booth. She just didn't realise that what she was feeling for Booth, her partner was not some chemical reactions, she was in love. She understood that in Maluku, where spending seven months apart from Booth was unbearable. She would find something interesting and she would think to share it with him. She has even called out his name a few times,by mistake. And now, he belongs to someone else. She knows that anthropologically it is impossible for one person to belong to another person, but right now that's how she feels.

She spent almost an hour in the bathroom, crying her heart out, as irrational as that sounds. Thinking things, mulling it over, she came to a decision. She will be fine, she has been alone most of her life and she was good, she will be again. She will be happy for her partner and she will go on with her life. She is Temperance Brennan, world-renowned anthropologist, the best in her field, best-selling author; She will be just fine. She made one mistake she swore herself never to do, being vulnerable and hoping...that Booth will give her one more chance, hoping that she and Booth could be more than professional partners. Booth moved on, in seven months after telling her that he knew she was special after their first kiss, and she will live with one regret. But she will be fine!
