Author's Note: Had a long week last week, but I'm back with the next chapter! This isn't chapter 7, but rather its chapter 6.5. What I mean by this is that this a chapter that highlights the events that happen between chapter 6 and chapter 7. These "special" chapters are mostly Kazumin moments, although I may write some that have do Kazuma's bonus adventures; I'm not sure yet.
Anyhow I'd like to reply to Firelord67's reviews real quick. Thanks for your positive feedback on my fanfiction! I'm glad to see that you're enjoying it.
As for when Kazuma and Megumin are going to get together, well... Soon, my friend. Very soon. But not today!
Also, it appears that for some reason, this chapter shows up as chapter 65 instead of chapter 6.5. I guess that it's just a bug with the website that I'll have to live with. Hopefully it doesn't matter too much.
That's all for now, and I hope you guys enjoy this new chapter! Until next time!
Disclaimer: I do not own KonoSuba or any of its characters.
Season 1, Chapter 6.5: A Troubled Heart
Today was the fourth day since Megumin had disappeared on us.
It was quite strange, really. Megumin didn't seem like the type of girl to just straight up vanish like that.
Did she really think that I wanted her to leave my party because of what I said while fighting Beldia? I'll admit that I overreacted then, but I was panicking and not thinking straight. I mean, I thought that the whole fucking town was going to get massacred!
Damn it Megumin, where did you go?
I've already asked Darkness and Aqua to look for her today, but the bigger the search party, the better.
Which is why on this beautiful morning, I walked into the Guild Hall to try and enlist more help in searching for Megumin.
"Is there anyone here that is willing to help me look for someone? I'll pay you if necessary." I addressed the people inside as I held up my coin bag.
"If you want help finding someone, I suggest you talk to the girl over there," An adventurer pointed out to me.
I looked to where he was pointing. It was a young redheaded girl who looked to be about 15. Judging from her choice of clothes, she appeared to be a thief.
I walked over. "Hey there, My name's Satou Kazuma. I heard that you could help me find someone?" I asked her.
I quickly noticed her red eyes and her non-existent chest. Dang, she looked a lot like Megumin. Was she also a Crimson Demon?
"Hmm? Yeah, I can help you find anyone for the right price. Name's Isla, by the way." She said as she extended her hand.
Another weird name, I thought as I shook her hand. "Great! I just need help finding a friend of mine, how much would that be?"
"Depends, how far would do we need to go?" She asked me casually.
"Oh, um, I'm not really sure, but I think that she's currently in Axel somewhere." I replied back. Well, I sure hoped that Megumin was still in Axel. If she wasn't... well then fuck.
"Oh? A girl? What's the scoop? She's your girlfriend or something?" She raised an eyebrow at me.
What?! I felt my face suddenly heat up. Wait why the fuck was my face heating up?!
"No! No, she's just a friend that suddenly disappeared. I want to make sure that she's okay." I nervously scratched the back of my head with my fingers.
"Oh, well, whatever you say. I'll charge you my standard fee of 250,000 Eris."
"Wait what?!" I quickly shouted out. "Don't you think that's way too much?!"
"Hmpt! With my advanced Thief skill Track, I have a 100% success rate of finding someone. Judging from the way you look, I'd say that you've already tried looking for her yourself, haven't you? It seems like you failed, and that's why you're here."
Damn it, how this is girl so insightful?! How old was she really?!
"Fine, okay. You're right," I relented as I gave her the requested amount. "So, what now?"
"Now," She said to me as she carefully counted through the money, "you give me something that belongs to her and then we can go."
Something that belonged to Megumin? Bullshit! I didn't have anything like that!
"But what if I don't have anything? Is there some other way?" I asked her hopefully.
"Sorry, there's no other way. That's how my Track skill works. If you don't have anything, I'll just have to return your money and wish you good luck," She explained. "Are you sure you don't have ANYTHING belonging to your friend? I can wait here for you here if you want to go to her house or something and grab something real quick. Oh, and I also should mention this now. The thing you provide will be destroyed in order to find her."
What?! What kinda bullshit was that?
Damn it!
Truth to be told, I did have ONE thing that belonged to Megumin. But it was worth too much to me! How could I ever just let it go?!
Ah, fuck it. Drastic times calls for drastic measures.
I slowly reached my hand into a hidden pocket in my shirt and gave her Megumin's black panties.
Listen, alright? LISTEN! Since Darkness interrupted me when I tried to give Megumin's panties back, I managed to find the time to buy a brand new pair of black panties (don't ask me how) and managed to give that pair back to Megumin. She didn't even notice. The perfect heist!
What? Don't look at me like that! I'm just a healthy young guy with healthy young desires, you know?!
Isla's eyes widened as she took it in her hands. "Are you sure she's not your girlfriend or something?"
"No! Look, you asked me for something that belonged to her, and I gave you something that belonged to her! Now, can we go already?!" I tried to change the subject.
"Wow, okay, but I'm going to have to charge you an extra 250,000 Eris." She opened up her hand at me.
"WHAT?! WHY?!" I almost shouted out.
"I charge double for perverts," she replied simply.
BULLSHIT! I'm not a pervert! At least, I think I'm not. I'm not, right?
Right?!
But wait! That's not even the point here! You help out perverts? Just which direction was your moral compass pointed at?!
I had no choice but to give her the extra money.
"Very well, let's go." She told me as the panties vanished in her hands.
Fuck! Not the panties! How was I going to fall asleep now without the soft feeling of Megumin's-
WAIT NO! FORGET I SAID ANYTHING!
I quickly followed Isla out the Guild Hall. I could feel the cold stares on my back from the rest of the people in the Guild Hall.
Wait a second, I just spent 500,000 Eris on a chance to find Megumin with no hesitation.
Hold up, like actually wait a second here. Am I stupid?! Like why the fuck did I do that?! That was half a million Eris!
Because you love her, my heart suddenly told me out of nowhere.
NANI?! Did my heart really just say that? But that's not what my brain is telling me! Ah fuck, not these conflicting emotions again! Damn it, my heart must've gotten corrupted or something! Whatever, it'll be fine! I'll just have Aqua do a heart transplant on me or something once I get back! Yeah! That should solve everything!
"You coming or not?" Isla turned to look at me with an annoyed expression.
"Yeah! Be right there!" I replied quickly.
Don't worry, Kazuma, everything will be back to normal once you get that heart transplant!
KONOSUBA!
Isla was fast.
Right from the start, it seemed like she knew where to go. She walked briskly through the town, through places that I had never seen before.
I hurriedly followed her, taking in the sights and making some notes of interesting spots that I wanted to check out later.
"We're here," Isla said as she suddenly stopped in front of an alleyway.
"Wait, what? She's in there?" I asked in surprise. What the hell was Megumin doing in an place like this?
"Yep, you can trust me. Well, I'm off now before you can do something that gets me arrested. See ya!" She dashed off before I could say anything back.
Oh come on! One pair of panties and I get this type of treatment?
I'll deal with that later. I have to see Megumin. I walked in front of the alleyway. It was quite dark and I couldn't see a thing inside it. No wonder I hadn't been able to find Megumin yesterday if she was actually in here.
I slowly walked inside. "Megumin?" I called out.
There was no response. Was she really in here? Hmm, Isla didn't seem like she was lying.
I walked in further.
"Megumin?" I tried calling out again.
My foot suddenly hit something on the ground.
I picked it up to look at it. It was a potion bottle. There was a trail of them leading to a turn in the alleyway.
Was Megumin drinking this? I examined the bottle more closely.
Mana Destruction Potion, it read.
For Adult consumption/sale only. Destroys all of the user's mana forcefully.
The fuck is this shit? Why the fuck did this even exist? Was Megumin actually drinking this?!
Oh wait, there was a warning label on the bottom.
WARNING: Do not consume more than one bottle a day. Prolonged/Excessive usage may lead to permanent damage and/or death.
THE FUCK?! WHY DOES THIS SHIT EXIST?! I quickly looked at the trail of potions. There was way more than 4 bottles here.
I quickly started to follow the trail, afraid of what I'd find at the end.
I reached the turn in the alleyway.
I walked inside and saw a tiny figure hugging itself.
It wore red wizard clothes.
"MEGUMIN!" I yelled out in fear as I rushed over.
I looked at her. She was shaking slightly and her eyes were shut tight. Tiny beads of sweat dotted her forehead.
She looked to be in serious pain.
"Megumin, can you hear me?" I tried to gently shake her body with my hand.
She weakly opened her eyes.
"Kazuma...? I- I did it... I can stay in your party now, right?" She said hopefully in a faint whisper.
What the fuck was she talking about?
"Megumin, what-" I tried to say.
I was interrupted when she suddenly started to cough harshly, each cough causing her entire body to spasm violently.
When did she get so thin?
Megumin closed her eyes again and laid still.
Fuck all of this, I need to get her to Aqua. She'll know what to do!
I gently picked her up in my arms.
God, her body was super warm. I felt her forehead.
I quickly recoiled my hand because of how hot it was. A fever?!
And I don't even know what else was wrong with her.
Her breathing started to weaken.
I sprinted out of the alleyway carrying Megumin with only one goal in mind. Get back to my inn, where Aqua and Darkness should be at.
Please be okay. Please be okay. Please be okay.
God, how the fuck did this even happen?!
KONOSUBA!
"Oh, Kazuma, you're back! Did you manage to-" Aqua let out a gasp as she saw Megumin.
"What happened?!" Darkness exclaimed in surprise.
"I mean, I knew you were a pervert, Kazuma, but I didn't think you'd go this far!" Aqua said to me accusingly.
What the fuck? Now's not the fucking time! I'll get you back for this, you bitch!
"Megumin..." I struggled to speak, being out of breath from my run.
"Danger... Don't know why...Please heal..." I panted out while taking big gulps of air.
I gently set the Arch-Wizard down on my bed.
Aqua walked over and put her hand on Megumin's stomach.
She suddenly looked very concerned.
"What the...? How did..." Aqua said worriedly.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
"Will she be okay?" I could barely speak. There were too many emotions rushing through my head right now. Did this happen because of me?
"Don't be silly, Kazuma! Didn't I say that as long as a person was alive, I could help them recover no matter what?" Aqua declared confidently.
"Thank god," I let out a sigh of relief.
"However, that being said, she's in a very critical state right now. I'm going to need to concentrate. Could you two leave the room for a minute?" Aqua requested.
"Of course," I turned to look at Darkness. "Come on, let's go."
"O-okay..." Darkness snuck one last worriedly glance at Megumin as we left the room.
Wait a second, was that a worried look or was that a look of... jealousy?
"So, Kazuma, what happened to her?" Darkness asked me curiously.
"Well, I don't really know. I found her in a lot of pain, I think that it had to do with these potions that she drank-" I started to explain.
"What potions? Tell me! I want to experience that feeling too!" Darkness said as a blush started to show on her face.
You're joking. Did she really just say that? In a time like this?
Are you fucking serious?! ARE YOU FUCKING-
Wait wait wait, calm down. I needed to stay calm or I might say something that might make Darkness run off like Megumin had. I couldn't afford to do that.
"I don't remember exactly..." I lied.
"Well, if you ever remember the name-"
The door suddenly opened. Aqua walked out.
"Darkness, could you go get some food? Megumin is going to be hungry when she wakes up." She said calmly.
"Oh! Of course!" She said as she rushed off.
"How is she?" I asked Aqua.
"She's sleeping now. That was a serious state that she was in, Kazuma. What happened to her?" Aqua wanted an explanation.
"Well, I think she drank a lot of these potions..." I handed her the potion bottle that I had picked up.
Aqua turned it over in her hands, examining it.
She handed it back to me. "Well, that explains it."
"Explains what?"
"I was wondering why Megumin's mana wasn't recovering correctly."
"That was all that was wrong with her? Why was she like that then?"
"Well, Kazuma, there are two main forces in humans. A life force and a magic force. You need both forces to work correctly to order to stay healthy. In Megumin's case, her magic force was basically all gone, and with her mana recovery abilities gone, her body was desperately trying to convert her life force into her magic force. As you might expect, that causes a lot of problems." She explained.
"But she'll be fine now, right?" I asked her in fear.
"Yes, however, you may have noticed how thin and frail she was. Too much of her life force was converted, Kazuma. Not even I could fix her up fully like that. She'll be weak and will need to rest in bed for at least a week."
"O-okay. Our fish money should be enough to cover us for a couple weeks."
Wait a second.
"How come she's only paralyzed after casting Explosion? Why didn't she have like a fever or something?" I asked out of curiosity.
"Arch-Wizards regenerate their mana very quickly. Even though Explosion might drain a lot of her mana, after she casts it, her body is already easily starting to replenish her magic force. However, this Mana Destruction Potion temporarily destroyed her body's natural mana regeneration, causing her symptoms."
"I see. Why do these stupid potions exist anyways? What's the point?"
"I actually don't know. As far as I know, there are no spells that benefit from having no mana. These potions cause nothing but pain. Wait, do you think Darkness would like-"
"NO!" I suddenly shouted out. "I mean, please don't tell her that they exist."
"Were you guys talking about me?" Darkness inquired curiously as she came back carrying some bags of food.
"Oh, no, not at all!" I quickly said. "Thanks for getting the food!"
I took the bags from her.
"Will Megumin be fine? What happened to her?" Darkness asked Aqua with concern in her voice.
Aqua repeated what she had said to me.
"I see, that's a relief. Well, it's getting pretty late now, so I'll go back to my place. Tell me if you need anything, okay?"
"Thanks, Darkness. Take care," I said as I waved her goodbye.
I turned to face Aqua again. "Well, we should get to sleep now too. Tomorrow's going to be another long day and-"
"Oh no, Kazuma. I promised my drinking buddies that I'd drink with them tonight!" Aqua exclaimed with a happy smile.
The fuck? You have drinking buddies now? What kind of dumbasses would be drinking buddies with you?!
"Wait, what about Megumin?"
"She'll be fine! Casting more of my healing magic won't do anything at this point. Although, she will be really weak for a couple days, so it's probably best to have someone look after her starting from now on."
"And who's supposed to look after her for tonight?!"
Aqua looked around. "Kazuma, are you an idiot or something? I need to go drinking, and Darkness went home already. So it's you, of course. See you later!" Aqua yelled out as she skipped away and exited the inn.
"Wait, that wasn't my point-" I tried to call after her.
Aaaaaaaaand she was gone. Fuck. I really wanted to visit the succubi tonight since I didn't get a chance yesterday.
Also, did you hear her bullshit excuse?! "I need to go drinking." Really? What kind of person says that? Hmm... I saw a good consoling center on my way to find Megumin, maybe I'll have to show Aqua that place someday.
I walked back inside my room. Megumin was sleeping peacefully on my bed.
Oh look, it's the girl you love! My heart piped up again.
Ah, fuck. I forgot to ask Aqua about that heart transplant! Whatever, I'll do it tomorrow.
I pulled up a chair and sat down next to my bed. I looked at Megumin.
Wait, did I even need to do anything? She looks to be fine sleeping like this. Maybe I could go visit the succubi after all?
Nah, it would probably be better if I stayed. Oh well, might as well go to sleep-
Hold the damn phone for a second here, where the fuck was I supposed to sleep tonight?!
Megumin was in my bed, and Aqua would be back later, so...
I analyzed my options.
I could sleep on Aqua's bed, but knowing Aqua when she's drunk, she'd probably climb in with me once she gets back, and that would suck so much ass.
I could sleep with Megumin. I mean, it's not like we haven't done it before, but Aqua would probably call me a pervert again, so that was out of the question. Plus, Megumin might think I was taking advantage of her or something. As if.
What about the floor? I glanced down. Fuck that shit. I haven't cleaned it at all since I moved here, and it was way too dirty.
Hey, why don't I just move Megumin over to Aqua's bed? I'm a genius!
I wrapped my arms around Megumin and tried to lift her up.
"Ow... it hurts." She whimpered in her sleep.
I quickly let go. Well, fuck.
Am I seriously going have to do what I've seen so many times in my animes? Am I seriously going to have to lay my head down on the side of bed and fall asleep sitting like that?
Looks like I didn't have any choice. I went and turned off the lights, and then I laid my head down on my bed and tried my best to get comfortable.
Why am I doing this again?
Because you love Megumin.
Shut the fuck up, heart! She's only 13, god damn it!
KONOSUBA!
"Kazuma?" A voice said.
Huh? What?
"Kazuma, what happened?"
I opened my eyes and sat up. Why am I sitting in a chair? I turned to the source of the voice. Why was Megumin sleeping in my bed?!
The day's events came back to me.
"Oh, Megumin. You're awake!" I turned on the lights as I told her about how I had found her and why she was now in my bed.
She only nodded solemnly when I finished.
"How are you feeling?" I asked her lightly.
"Hungry," she admitted sheepishly, not looking at me in the eyes.
"That's good, Aqua said that feeling hungry is normal. Here, let me go get you some food." I got up from my chair.
As I was going to get the bags, I quickly glanced at the clock. 3 fucking A.M. Damn it. I'm going to be tired as fuck tomorrow.
I also looked over at Aqua's bed, and was surprised to see that it was still empty. She still wasn't back from drinking? Maybe she won't come back tonight and I could sleep in her bed!
I returned to Megumin with some food. "Think you can sit up for me?" I asked softly.
She tried to lift herself up, then quickly whimpered in pain as she fell back down again.
"S-sorry..." She said with closed eyes.
"Hey, what are you apologizing for? Here, let me help." I gently lifted her up to a sitting position and used a pillow to prop her up.
"Let's see what we've got," I reached inside the bag. "How does a chocolate bar sound?"
"That sounds good," she said in a hushed tone as she reached out her hand.
"Here you go," I dropped it in her hands.
She fumbled with the wrapper for a good while before handing it back to me.
"I can't open it..." she said in embarrassment.
Really? She was this weak?
I unwrapped the chocolate and held it my hands. "Here, I'll feed you. You just focus on resting for me, okay?"
Wait where the fuck did that come from?
"Kazuma, I can feed myself!" She said with a pout as she tried to grab the chocolate from my hands.
"Don't be like that, Megumin. You didn't even have the strength to open up the wrapper. Just relax and try to recover quickly, alright?" I said gently.
I raised the chocolate to her mouth. "Here, open."
She blushed heavily as she took a small bite, chewing it carefully.
What the fuck am I doing? I could feel my heart pounding heavily inside me. Why am I acting like this? Did my heart hijack my body?
It's called love man, just go along with it, my heart told me.
What-?
"That was good," Megumin suddenly whispered.
She ate the whole bar already?!
I threw the wrapper away and looked at her face. Chocolate was smeared around her lips and cheeks. She had a light blush on as she looked down in her lap.
Damn, what a beautiful girl, my brain said.
See! It's love! Go along with it!
ALRIGHT! FINE! Heart, you got me. Just for tonight, okay?! Tomorrow, I'm replacing you at the first chance I get!
I grabbed a tissue and gently wiped the chocolate from her face.
"Hmp-! Kazuma- what-" She struggled lightly under my touch.
"You had chocolate on your face," I chuckled lightly, having given in to what my heart wants.
"Still hungry?" I asked as I threw the tissue away.
Megumin nodded her head.
I unwrapped a snack bar this time and held it up to her mouth.
"Do we really have to do this?" She muttered in embarrassment.
"Just relax, alright? Come on, open." I pushed the bar lightly against her lips.
She parted her lips and took a big bite.
I smiled as I watched her eat. For some reason taking care of Megumin like this made my heart feel warm and content. Satisfied, even.
Megumin took another bite and started chewing it. Her eyes darted up to look at me before quickly darting away again.
She had a massive blush on her face.
Man, I wished I had a camera to save this moment. Looks like I'll just have to burn this into my memory permanently.
She quickly devoured the snack bar as well.
I fed her some more snacks before she told me that she was full.
"Thank you, Kazuma." She said softly.
"It's no problem, now..." I took out the empty Mana Destruction Potion bottle and set it down on my nightstand.
She tensed up when she saw it.
"Why?" I asked her in a serious tone.
"I just... wanted to stay in your party..." she confessed.
"What do you mean? I never kicked you out."
"You said that if I couldn't hold off on casting Explosion for a day... then I should just leave your party! Every party I've been in has abandoned me, Kazuma. I couldn't handle another rejection. I wanted to stay... I wanted to stay so bad..." Megumin's voice cracked as she broke into tears.
Fuck me. I knew it.
"Megumin, I never meant that. I overreacted. I'm sorry." I tried to apologize.
"Really?" She looked up at me with her tear-stricken face.
"I'm serious. Sometimes when I get stressed out, I tend to say stuff that I don't mean to. I never, ever want you to leave my party, Megumin. Will you forgive me?" I tried to not let my emotions show as I spoke. God, what would've happened if I had found her any later? Would she be... dead?
"You really mean it?" She looked hesitant, as if she wanted more reassurance.
I got up and pulled her into a tight hug. "Megumin, I-"
This is the part where you tell her you love her, my heart urged me on.
Really? I dunno...
"Megumin, I'm really glad that you joined my party. You're a lot of fun be around with, and I hope that never changes. I never want you to stop casting Explosion, because that's what makes you, you. I'll always be there to help you practice your Explosions, because one day we'll beat the Demon King together, alright?" I started to lightly pat her back.
"Kazuma..." she returned the hug as she set her head down on my shoulder. "Heh, you remind me of what my dad used to say..."
What Megumin's dad used to say, huh? I wonder if I'll get to meet him someday. Heh, I wonder if Megumin would get to meet my parents-
Wait.
WAIT.
My parents... would I ever get to see them again?
For the first time since I got reincarnated into this new world, I started to think about my old life.
Even though my parents laughed at my death, they had done so much for me.
They gave me food, a warm bed to sleep on, and most importantly, a decent wifi connection.
And what did I do for them? Absolute nothing. For 16 whole fucking years I've done nothing for them. I never said even a word of thanks to them. And now I would never get the chance to do so.
Hell, I didn't even get to say goodbye...
"Kazuma, are you crying?" Megumin asked me in a concerned tone, looking up at me.
Me? Crying? What-
I raised a hand to my face. It came back wet.
What? I-
No, now's NOT the time to break down. Pull yourself together, Kazuma!
"Oh, no. Your hair just got into my eyes, that's all." I used this as an excuse to wipe my tears dry.
"Say, why did you even drink those stupid potions in the first place? I only said to hold off on casting Explosion, so why those potions? I thought that you knew better than to drink those potions! Did you even read the warning label?! Is it really that hard for you to not cast Explosion?" I quickly tried to change the subject.
Megumin pulled away from me as I sat back down again.
"Well... the truth is..." Megumin looked deeply embarrassed again. "If I don't cast Explosion at least once per day, I'll die!"
You're making that shit up. No fucking way.
"What?! Why?" I exclaimed in suprise.
"You see, as a Crimson Demon, I naturally recover my magic force very quickly," Megumin started to explain. She looked scared for some reason.
"Okay, go on." I tried to encourage her.
"The rate in which Crimson Demons recover their mana exceeds how much mana they can actually store. If we don't use spells to let out our mana daily, then our excess mana... well... To put it simply, we explode. That's why I drank those potions. They were the only way for me to not cast Explosion and still survive." Megumin cringed at that last statement.
What. The. Fuck?!
"I see. And since the only spell you can use is Explosion..." I started put the pieces together in my mind.
"Well, I guess that means that we'll just have to make sure that you'll be able to cast your daily Explosion from now on!" I looked at her with a warm smile.
She suddenly leaned forward quickly and pulled me into another hug. She started to cry again as she spoke.
"Oh, Kazuma. What did I ever do to deserve someone like you?" She sniffled.
The fucks going on?
"There, there." I gently patted her head, bewildered. "Why are you crying again, Megumin?"
"It's just that... other people are naturally afraid of the Crimson Demons. I don't know what rumor's they've heard, but they think that we are dangerous people because of how much destruction our magic can cause. As a result, we don't typically interact with outsiders much. With me choosing to learn only Explosion magic, the most destructive magic of all... well, that certainly didn't help me make any friends. Every time I tried, they would all run away from me in fear. Even back at my home village, I didn't have any friends. It's not that they were scared of me or anything, it's just that nobody wanted to be friends with the poor girl in town. The other kids there treated me like scum. Who was to blame them? My family was so poor... I had to steal breadcrumbs just survive..." She sobbed softly as she told me about her childhood.
That's some fucked up shit. That's some seriously fucked up shit right there. Breadcrumbs? Really?
"But you don't care that I'm a Crimson Demon, do you?" Megumin looked up at me with those pretty red eyes.
"Of course not. You don't get to choose which race you are born into. Nobody does. We all just have to do our best with what life gives us. And I must say, you've done a fantastic job, Megumin. Just look at how powerful your Explosions have become!" I looked deeply into her eyes as I tried to convey my message.
She responded by burying her head into my chest as she started to cry even harder.
"I don't deserve someone like you..." She quietly cried out.
Woah woah woah wait a second, am I being rejected? Was this a red flag? None of my romance games covered this line! Fuck! What do I do?!
"Hey, listen," I used my right hand to softly lift her head up so that she was looking at me in the eyes again.
"I don't know what you're talking about with the deserving me or not, but I do know this."
I put on my most serious tone.
"You deserve to be happy, Megumin. Everybody does."
Fucking nailed it. That sounded cool as fuck!
"KAZUMA!" Megumin tried to hug me tighter, only for her to suddenly wince in pain.
"Woah, easy there, Megumin. Don't try to push yourself right now, okay?" I slowly helped her lay down again.
"How did you even get a hold of these potions anyways? They say for adult sale only."
"Oh, well. I am an adult," Megumin stated.
"But you're 13," I replied in shock.
"Yeah? And? That's the age when you're legally considered to be an adult?" She said in confusion.
WHO THE FUCK DECIDED THAT?!
Holy shit this world never fails to surprise me. Fuck me. GOD DAMN! 13?!
"O-okay then," I managed to stutter out. "Please don't do something as reckless as this again, okay?" I stood up from my chair, wanting to sleep.
"Sorry...and thank you, Kazuma." She smiled at me.
"Don't worry about it. Try to get some sleep now, okay? Focus on recovering for me." I requested.
"Okay, Kazuma. Um... before you go... can I get a goodnight kiss?" She said as she immediately started to blush.
I quickly turned around to look at her.
Did I hear her correctly?!
A kiss? Like on the lips?!
No wait, she said a goodnight kiss, where do people usually kiss for goodnight?
I suddenly remembered my mom who used to kiss me on the forehead before each night. Was this what Megumin meant?
I mean, hopefully.
I walked over to Megumin again and started to lean down.
"Eh, eh?!" Her eyes were wide open in surprise.
"What, you don't want it?" I was a bit annoyed at her shocked response. Why ask for something if you didn't want it?
"N-no, I do... I didn't think you'd actually do it..." She muttered out.
I leaned down quickly and gave her a quick peck on her forehead before she could change her mind.
I hurriedly turned off the lights before I could see her reaction. To be honest, I was feeling quite embarrassed myself and didn't want Megumin to see me like that.
"Sleep tight," I said to her before getting into Aqua's empty bed.
I could only hear a high pitched squeak in response.
Okay then.
I settled into a comfortable position and closed my eyes.
See, that wasn't so bad! You really should listen to me more often!
Shut up, heart! Just because I listened to you for one night doesn't mean that I always will! Don't think that I've given up on replacing you!
Whatever you say, Kazuma, whatever you say.
