Chapter 13: My Stay at Kokuyo Land

"Assassination," my father had told me. "That's what the Sanguigno famiglia specializes in."

I had frowned. "What does that have to do with our eyes?"

His look was grim. "People say it has everything to do with our eyes. Some say it's because of our eyes that the Sanguignos never fail their numerous assassinations. Others say it's because of our numerous assassinations that our eyes match the color of blood."

"So what's the truth?"

He sighed. "That, my daughter, is something only you can find out for yourself."

The world in red was strange. My vision seemed to sharpen, something I found strange from my dependence on prescription lenses. I saw more than I did normally, like how the world seemed to go slower until I noticed everything.

It was a shame that I was still forced to see that disgusting shade of green.

The teen, who I still didn't know the name to, was seething. "So the Vongola picked up a Sanguigno, of all people?! Disgusting, you mafia are…!"

I rolled my eyes. "Are you done yet?"

"Kong Channel!" He put a new cartridge in his mouth, this time an ape on his cheek as his limps began to enlarge and resemble that of an ape's. "I'll kill you, bitch!"

I shut my eyes, grabbing the hilt of my knife so that the blade faced the ground. "Tuono e Lampo." In an instant, my knife was at his neck, stray lightning crackling at my feet. He struggled to escape, drawing blood at his neck, and I narrowed my eyes. "I wouldn't struggle if I were you, unless you want your head rolling on the floor."

He gulped quietly, but then laughed loudly, as if to hide his fear. "Do it, you bitch! Either way, Mukuro-san will prevail, and I'll have done my part in stalling you from saving that fugly sparrow-!"

"You're not fooling anyone," I told him, sighing. I used the hilt of my knife to hit his neck and he knocked out, falling to the floor. As my vision returned to normal, I stared at the cuts I inflicted on him, realizing that I had drawn more blood than I intended to.

…Assassination, huh?

Could I really kill someone if it came down to it?

"I'll have done my part in stalling you from saving that fugly sparrow-!"

Well, never mind that. Hibari won't appreciate it, but I've got a skylark to save.

My eyes widened at the sight in front of me.

"Kufufu~ Looks like Ken was taken down by you, huh, Izanami Sanguigno?"

There were sakura trees all over the cinema room. However, in a scene that was supposed to represent beauty and peace, there was Hibari Kyoya, getting knocked around and beat up by Mukuro like a rag doll.

I glowered at him, livid. "What the fuck did you do to him, Mukuro?!"

The pineapple-haired teen grabbed Hibari's hair and pulled it upwards so that Hibari met my eyes. "Hm?~ I simply took advantage of his weakness, though? Why are you making it sound so terrible?"

Hibari narrowed his eyes at me. "I told you to... stay put…"

Mukuro kicked him aside, and Hibari fell to the ground, grunting in pain. "So you're still awake, skylark?"

My fists tightened and my teeth clenched. "You... you piece of shit you" I glared at him, my vision familiarly flooding red. "I'm going to kill you!"

Thinking back, it's funny how one person can make me completely disregard my previous thoughts on killing someone.

Mukuro smirked, his trident in hand. "So you've realized your full capabilities as a Sanguigno, Izanami? I did good to wait, this'll be so much more fun~" The kanji in his eyes changed to the number one, to which blared in the darkness much more than usual and all I saw was blood, blood, blood…!

Illusion, my eyes realized. "Elettrico Fuoco!" I slashed the air and a wave of lightning hit Mukuro.

He staggered, but he simply smiled. "So the Sanguigno eyes can see through illusions…? I see" The kanji in his eyes changed to the number four, and purple flames, Dying Will Flames my father had taught me, enclosed his eye. "I guess we'll just have to do this the hard way."

In an instant, my knife clashed with the trident, and I struggled to keep myself standing.

I growled in annoyance. He realized I heavily depend on speed so he's just relying on power to stop me… he's smarter than I expected.

He let go, and in my state of losing balance he kicked me in the gut, causing me to wheeze and cough out blood. I fell to the floor, grasping my stomach but before I could get my body to dodge the attack I saw coming, Mukuro stepped on my stomach, prohibiting me to move. He grabbed my hair and pulled it upwards, staring at me with that irritating smile of satisfaction. "Looks like you need to work on your strength more, Izanami~"

I spit in his face.

He pulled harder, and I bit down on my lip to hold back my yelp of pain. He narrowed his eyes. "Well you're no fun now. Guess that means I'll have to get you to recover, I do have plans to use you, after all."

I thought I spotted Hibari reach out to me, but then I was met with darkness and an onslaught of pain in my head.

"The blue tail of Nanimori~ It's not small nor big~ Nani is great~"

My eyes opened to mostly darkness, with one ray of light conveniently illuminating Hibari's face.

"No, little one. It goes like this: The green trail of Namimori~ It's not big nor small~ Nami is great~"

I smiled. "You're a pretty good singer, Hibari."

He stiffened, and averted his eyes. "So you're awake." A silence, and then: "I told you to stay put, carnivore."

I chuckled. "You're right. You seemed to be doing just fine even without me awake. You made a new friend, I see?"

He glared at me and I simply smiled back at him. I attempted to sit upwards, succeeding but only to feel an enormous headache afterwards. I had no idea how long I had been unconscious, but judging by the lack of windows and the two of us trapped between cement walls it was impossible to tell anyway. I saw the tiny yellow bird perched on the one open area, and watched it fly towards me to land on my head.

"New friend! New friend!" it parroted.

I noticed Hibari's intent stare on the bird on top of my head. Too tired to deal with the weirdo, I shut my eyes, hoping for the headache to disappear. "Hibari's new friend, Hibird," I started. "Can you sing our school's anthem for me again?"

"The blue trail of Nanimori~ It's not small nor big~ Nani is great~"

Close enough.

hello~

just a quick note that I put her moves in Italian and bolded because in KHR they say the Italian name of the power move and they don't translate what it means, if I remember correctly.

if I'm wrong, then oh well. I added it to emphasize her move anyway lolol

hope you guys enjoyed this chapter,
