Chapter 1: The First Choice
Disclaimer: I, OWN, NOTHING! (Except for a few original characters and elements)
This chapter is mostly to show which starter Pokémon the twins and Yang will be getting while acting as it's standalone chapter, So here's hoping that you all like it.
...
The day was finally upon Yang Xiao Long. The birthday of Kai and Rina, a lot of important people were going to going to attend it, and she wanted to make a good first impression.
"Are you sure this is good?" Yang asked with a drop of sweat running down her head.
She was currently wearing a yellow shoulder less dress with a skirt that orange with red at the ends, which stopped at her knees. Her hair was tied up in a ponytail with a orange ribbon, and another orange ribbon was wrapped around her waist. She had yellow heels, and she had orange earrings clipped onto her ears that resembled phoenixes soaring upward.
"Positive." Rina said as she was getting the finishing touches on her attire, which consisted of a hot pink sleeveless dress, that stopped at her knees, with a pink ribbon tied around her waist, she had hot pink heeled shoes, pink gloves, and two pink loop earrings in her ears.
"You look lovely, Yang." Diana said as she was combing her hair, she was wearing a midnight blue sleeveless dress with speckled all over it that went to her ankles, and left a portion of her legs visible. She wore midnight blue gloves with star-like dots speckled all over them, black heels, and a golden necklace with a trio of sapphires held by it.
"You really think so?" Yang said somewhat dejectedly.
"Of course, my mom made this dress specifically for you, and she's never wrong when it comes to fashion." Rina said with nothing but confidence.
(Author's note: Yes, I know I forgot to mention this in the last chapter, but I can still add this in now, all right, deal with it)
A little while after she got here, Yang had learned that Kai and Rina were the children of a famous fashion designer and a businessman who had connections with the most famous chairmen in the Galar region, so she was surprised when the whole family accepted her as a friend.
"I still can't believe that you invited someone like me t-" Yang was cut off.
"Finish that sentence and I'll whack you." Rina told her. "I don't care what you've done in the past, you are our friend, and true friends don't leave others behind, ya get me?" She asked.
"Um, right." Yang responded.
"She's very head strong when it comes to this, but in a good way." Diana told her, before looking at a clock and noticing the time. "Oh my, time to head off now girls." She told them both whilst clapping her hands. "Ready?" She asked as they both nodded.
They exited the room walked down the hall, to find Kai and Sora standing by the door that went outside to where the kid's party would be held.
Kai and Sora where wearing near-identical suits, only difference was that Sora's had shoulder pads on it, Kai's was crimson red, while Sora's was ashen black, and both were wearing white undershirts underneath the suits, with black ties.
"Hey sis, hey mom." Kai said in response to seeing them.
"You two look beautiful tonight." Sora complimented. "And I see Yang is looking lovely as I expected." Sora said bowing to her.
"Um... thank you." Yang said in rebuttal.
"Come on people, time to go out there and see what's in store." Kai said with his hands on his hips.
"Calm down, son, you don't want get hurt on this special day, don't you?" Diana rhetorically asked.
The doors opened up and revealed a backyard celebration style birthday party. Streamers were hanging from the nearby trees, tables were set up with all kinds of food and desserts with a bigger table with the most of each and a birthday cake about a foot tall, and there were about a five dozen people hanging around conversing with one another.
"Hello there, everyone." Diana greeted the people attending the party with a smile.
"Hello/Hi/What's up!" They all greeted, as they gathered in a half circle focused on them.
"As you all might know, we're are here to celebrate the fourteenth birthday of our beloved children, Kai and Rina Sentolia." Diana gestured towards the twins, who waved with a smile.
"But there's a reason as to why this celebration is as big as it is now." Sora hollered. "For you see, this celebration marks the day where we permit out precious twins the privilege of becoming full-fledged Pokémon trainers." Sora declared.
"Which is why, before we get this celebration under way, we have a surprise for them." This confused the twins greatly.
"A surprise..." Rina wondered.
"Right now?" Kai added.
"Of course." Diana said, pulling out a Poké ball.
"Besides..." Sora pulled out two Poké balls. "They want to enjoy the party too." He told them before he and Diana tossed the three Poké balls out into the yard, and they spilt open to reveal three Pokémon that were being housed in them.
The first was a rabbit-like Pokémon that was standing on two legs; it had white fur covering the majority of its body, with red fur on it's toes and on the tips of it's ears that had an orange interior, with orange stripes under the red on its ears, it had red fur surrounding it neck, a single bucktooth in it's mouth, and light orange patches on the bottom of it's feet and on it's face above it's rabbit-like nose and in between it red and black eyes.
The second was a lizard-like Pokémon with a curled tail that mainly crawled on was on all fours, it had light blue skin with teal patches on it's cheeks and tail, a light blue underbelly and face, and a yellow sail-like protrusion sticking out of it's head, and it's four limbs were thin and ended in two finger-like appendages.
The third and last one was a chimp-like Pokémon with a green body; it had wood brown ears and a tail, and orange limbs that were the same color as it's snout, along with black eyes surrounded by beige skin, and on it's head were two leaf-shaped hair tufts that held a stick to it's head.
"Scor? Scorbunny!" The rabbit jumped with joy.
"Sobble? Sob!" The lizard looked shocked to be out of its Poké ball when it saw the twins.
"Grookey, Grookey!" The Chimp said before pulling the stick out of its head and began tapping the ground with it gleefully.
The twins were shocked to see the Pokémon, but then got the point of what they said. "No way." Kai said.
"Are you saying..." Rina asked.
"You may choose one Pokémon out of these three." Sora told them.
"That's how everyone starts out, and that's how you'll start out." Diana said.
"WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY!" The twins cheered loudly as they ran towards the Pokémon.
"Hey, sis, you can go first." Kai said right as they reached the Pokémon.
"Thanks bro." Rina thanked him before walking towards the starter trio. She examined all of them, before making a choice. "I'll go with... Sobble!" She declared pointing at the water lizard Pokémon.
"Sob!" Sobble was shocked to be picked first, but was happy to the point that tears were leaking out of her eyes.
"We're gonna face the world together, Sobble!" Rina declared, pointing up to the sky.
"SOBBLE!" Sobble cheered.
"Welp, looks like I'm next." Kai declared. "I pick... Grookey." Kai said pointing at the chimp Pokémon.
"Groo?" Grookey quirked it's head sideways.
"You and me are gonna be champions, little guy, no doubt." Kai told the Pokémon.
"Grookey, grookey, groooo!" Grookey cheered in happiness.
Scorbunny saw the two Pokémon with their new partners, and felt kinda jealous, but it quirked an eyebrow the moment it saw Yang staring longingly at the twins. "Scorbun?"
It walked past the twins, who were wondering what the rabbit Pokémon was doing.
"Huh?" Rina muttered.
"What's that Scorbunny doing?" Kai asked.
Once the Scorbunny reached Yang, the blonde quirked an eyebrow, wondering what the Pokémon was doing. "What's wrong?" Yang asked.
"Scor..." The rabbit Pokémon muttered, before smiling and jumping up and down. "Scorbunny, scorbunny, SCOR!" It chanted before jumping into Yang's chest and holding her tightly. "Scor..." Scorbunny nuzzled itself in her chest.
"Um... what's it... doing?" Yang asked.
"I think that Scorbunny wants to be your partner." Sora theorized.
"Scor, scor." The rabbit Pokémon nodded a yes at Yang.
"Ah, you two look so cute together." Diana commented.
"You'd... really be... my partner?" Yang asked the Pokémon.
Scorbunny hopped onto the floor and saluted to Yang, as if it were saying yes. "Scor, bun." It said strongly.
Yang saw this Pokémon's determination and smiled before nodding. "Alright, it's you and me together, Scorbunny." Yang declared.
"SCORBUN!" The Rabbit Pokémon cheered.
"But, tell me, trainers to be..." Yang, Kai, and Rina turned to the crowd to see someone walking towards them. This someone was a man with black hair, green eyes, and tanned skin, and neatly trimmed facial hair, he was wearing a grey suit with a white undershirt and a red tie, red and black shoes on his feet, a gold wristwatch one his left arm, a black and gold belt, and one earring on his left ear. "What will you name them?" he asked holding a hand up to his chin.
"Oh, Chairmen Rose." Diana said, recognizing him.
"That's Chairmen Rose?" Yang wondered in her head.
"Oh, right, we need nicknames for our Pokémon." Rina realized before looking at Sobble. "Hmmm... How about... Aqua?" She suggested.
"Sob? Sobble!" The newly named Aqua nodded a yes at the name.
"Okay then, your turn, bro." Rina told her brother.
"Right, okay big guy, how about... Terra?" Kai asked the chimp Pokémon.
"Grookey, groo." The newly named Terra gave Kai a thumbs up.
"Alright then, Yang, it's your turn." Kai looked to Yang. "After that, then the real celebration can begin." Everyone looked to her.
Yang looked at Scorbunny with a quirked eyebrow before looking upward and began thinking. "Let's see, Kai and Rina named their Pokémon after elements, I know that much, so then, maybe I'll stick with the same naming convention, Pyrus would come to mind if it weren't for the fact that it has a bit of a male sound to it, so maybe a play on that word?" She thought.
"How about..." everyone leaned in to hear what she was going to say. "Pyra." She said.
"Oh, a play on the word pyrus, nice choice, especially since that Scorbunny is female." Sora said.
"Scorbun, bunny." The newly named Pyra nodded and raised her paw, signaling Yang to give her a high five.
"Now then, with all that said and done." Sora said as Yang smiled and gave Pyra a high five as the screen in black. "Let's get this party started." Sora's voice declared.
(One hour later... )
The party was in full swing, even an hour later, the adults were chatting, the children were playing around the yard, and even some passing by Pokémon got it on the festivities, ranging from Rookiedee, to Wooloo, to even Skwovet.
Meanwhile, Yang (who had Pyra on the ground beside her) was talking to two of Kai and Rina's friends.
One was a girl with brown hair and eyes; she wore a white dress that stopped midway down her thighs, white heels, and white gloves that went up to her elbows. This was Gloria.
The other was a boy with purple hair and yellow eyes; he wore a simple blue suit with a white undershirt, and black shoes. This was Hop.
"So you're from another world?" Gloria said in wonder.
"That's unbelievable." Hop commented.
"Yeah, so Kai and Rina already told you?" Yang asked.
"Yeah, one day when they stopped by my house when Gloria was visiting, they let it slip about a person like you, they told us the whole story and we swore to keep it a secret." Hop assured her.
Yang sighed in relief. "Thank you." She said, thanking them.
"Scorbun." Pyra bowed to them in thanks.
"Don't mention it." Gloria said in response.
"Hey, you with the Scorbunny." A voice hollered from a short distance.
Yang looked behind her to see a man with long, purple hair and amber eyes. He wore a baseball cap that was tilted upwards, showing off the crown design on the brim; a red fur-lined cape, which has logos of sponsors on the back, and his black striped shirt has a sword and shield on it. This was Leon.
"Pleasure to meet you, the name's Leon." The man, identified as Leon, said introducing himself.
"Oh, you're the champion of this region, right?" Yang asked Leon.
"Yep, and you're the girl from another world, correct?" Leon asked somewhat quietly, as to not attract unwanted attention.
Yang was shocked that this guy, of all people, knew about her plight, she learned about Leon in her time in this world, and she found out that this guy was a champion to the Galar region, so to find out that he knew about her secret, it was weird to say the least.
"My little bro Hop let it slip that you were from another world when no one was looking or listening." Leon told her.
"Oh..." Yang said before realizing what he just said. "Wait... Little bro... The champion's your brother?" Yang asked Hop.
"Yep, and man, am I proud of it." Hop said with his hands behind his head.
"Yeah, I was shocked too when I first found out, believe me, girly." Gloria told her.
"I- um... wow." Yang muttered.
"It's nice to finally meet you, and as much as I'd love to hear about it, you don't want to talk much about your old world, correct?" Yang frowned a little at the mention of the question.
"Yeah, I don't want really want to talk about that world." Yang told him.
"It's ok, don't worry about it, I understand." Leon nodded.
"Hey, Leon." A rowdy voice called from a distance.
The voice belonged to a young, but fairly tall man. He had black hair in a Mohawk style, light brown skin, and cyan eyes. He wore a black hoodie with dark blue, orange, and tan accents; dark blue and orange shorts with a dragon head decal on the right leg, and dark blue/orange shoes, along with an orange hairband. But what caught Yang's attention was the weird wristband wrapped around his right wrist.
"Well, well, if it isn't Raihan." Leon hollered.
"Nice to meet you, Leon." Raihan greeted. "And who might these three be?" Raihan gestured to the trio of Gloria, Hop, and Yang.
"Oh, you're that Dragon-type gym leader, right." Yang asked.
"You know it." Raihan answered.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Gloria." Gloria introduced herself.
"Hop's the name." Hop did the same.
"And I'm Yang." The blonde said awkwardly.
"Gloria, Hop and Yang, huh?" Raihan repeated the three names. "I've got a feeling that you lot are going to be great trainers soon." He said.
This got a sparkle to appear in Hop's and Gloria's eyes. "You mean it?" They asked.
"You know it, but I've especially got that feeling concerning you, Yang." Raihan commented.
This got Yang confused a little. "What do you mean?" She asked.
"I mean that you are going to be an awesome trainer someday, you know what I'm saying?" Raihan asked.
"Oh, um, right, sorry, I'm just a little tense." Yang told him.
"Well, don't worry, you're going to go far in life, I can tell." Raihan reassured her before getting out a phone with a weird looking face on the back, and all of the sudden it began hovering in midair.
"What th-" Yang was cut off by Raihan wrapping his left arm around her back and holding his fingers up in a 'V' shape.
"Selfie with a soon-to-be great trainer." Raihan quipped before the phone took the photo.
When Raihan let go, Yang couldn't help but ask. "What kind of phone is that?" She asked.
"What, never seen a Rotom Phone before?" Raihan asked jokingly.
"Easy there, dragon guy, you're going too fast for her to process." Leon said.
"Oh, right, sorry, anyways, I've got a chat with Bea to get to, later." Raihan waved goodbye before walking off.
"He's... eccentric." Gloria commented.
"Scor, bun." Pyra nodded in agreement.
"Hey, it's alright, he's a pretty cool." Yang said.
"Yeah, don't worry, he means well." Leon said to Yang.
The party kept on going until it reached one of the best parts of a birthday party, present time.
Kai and Rina were currently opening presents given to them; they'd received specially tailored clothing from a gym leader named Nessa, a set of 12 quick balls for each of them from another named Kabu for their eventual journey, two sets of gloves and boots from a gym leader named Bea, a pair of diaries from another gym leader named Melony, and from Raihan himself...
"Woah, our own Rotom Phones!" Kai exclaimed.
"They're awesome." Rina declared.
"You bet they are, they can act as maps, Pokémon translators, and much more." Raihan told them.
"Pokémon translators?" Rina repeated.
"Now that's awesome." Kai stated.
"And that's not all." The voice of Leon said while the man himself approaching them, he kneeled to their eye level and spoke up. "Now, I know that you haven't even left your home yet, but your parents have always wanted nothing but the best for you, so I personally wanted... to give you these." Leon handed the twins a pair of envelopes with their names on them.
The twins gasped. "Are those..."
"Consider yourselves endorsed by the champion Leon himself." Leon declared.
The twins were dumbstruck, but snapped out of it and ran to give Leon a hug as thanks. "YOU'RE THE BEST CHAMPION EVER!" They declared loudly.
"Don't mention it, kids, just make sure that you don't do anything to reckless out there." Leon said.
"You got it." The twins saluted.
"Oh, I almost forgot." Leon snapped his fingers, before walking over to Yang. "I got an endorsement for you too." Yang saw Leon hand her an envelope with her name on it too.
Yang was shocked as to why he'd do such a thing, and for someone from another world, nonetheless. "But... why?" She couldn't help but ask.
"Cause I can confirm that you don't know what to do, you're lost, so I'm hoping that this way you can find out what can make you into you." Leon answered.
Yang heard this and realized what he meant.
Now that she was in a completely different world, she had no idea what to do, so going on a Pokémon journey might be the best course of action for her right now.
"I'll make sure you don't regret it." Yang said with confidence.
"Don't worry, I know." Leon assured her.
"Isn't this great, Yang?" Rina asked her. "Now all three of us can go on a journey together." She said hopping with joy.
"And it's going to be one for the history books." Kai boasted.
"Sobble, Sob!" Aqua cheered.
"Grook, Grookey!" Terra pitched in.
"Scor, Scorbun!" Pyra was hopping in joy at the idea.
"Yeah." Yang agreed. "One for the history books." She repeated, as some of the people in the vicinity chuckled in glee at the kids having their fun.
(After the party...)
People were bidding the Sentolia family goodbye, they were shaking their hands, thanking them for their time, and the gym leaders were wishing them the best on their eventual journey.
"I can see that me and your kids will be on the battlefield soon, along with that Yang character, I know that they'll do great." The gym leader Bea said as she walked off.
"Thank you for your words, Bea." Diana said as she walked off.
"Welp, the party is done is done and midnight is nearly upon us." Sora declared.
"Alright now children, time for bed, starting tomorrow, you'll be official Pokémon trainers, alongside Yang Xiao Long of course." Diana told the twins.
"You got it, mom." They saluted as they went inside with their Pokémon in their arms.
Yang sighed as she watched them pass by her. "Those two would stick by each other when it's the end of the world with a bond like that." Yang thought to herself as memories of her and Ruby from her old world started to-
"Yang." The Blonde herself snapped out of her stupor when she heard Sora's voice. "Time to hit the hay, you alright?" He asked.
"Oh, um..."
"Scorbun..." Pyra patted her paw on her leg to calm her.
"Pyra?" Yang wondered what the Rabbit Pokémon was trying to say.
"Scorbunny!" Pyra saluted to her, as if to say. "I've got your back, through thick and thin."
Yang smiled at the gesture. "Thanks Pyra." Yang picked up Pyra and carried her into the house, with a smile present on her face.
Sora and Diana smiled at Yang as she walked into the house. "The twins are in good hands." Sora commented.
Diana nodded. "Most definitely." She agreed before looking at the yard. "We'd better get this place cleaned up in the morning." Diana gestured to the yard around them.
"With the help of some old friends?" Sora asked.
"I don't see why not." Diana smiled
...
And with that, another chapter posted onto this fanfic.
Now, before the riot comments come rolling in, honestly, I had the decision of which starter Pokémon Yang would get LONG before this fanfic even popped up in my mind, I mean, I'm all for creativity, but which do you want, the creative choice or the choice that fits like a glove.
In other news for those who don't know, I updated the first chapter of "The Fallen Dragon's Flight", and I might have changed a bit more than I wanted. But either way, I made my decision on what archetype(s) Yang is going to use and I'm sticking with it.
My next chapter is going to be another update to "The Fallen Dragon's Flight" and hopefully maybe even a duel or some lore building.
It's going to take a while for me to finish the next chapter for "RWBY Movies: Watching the Mulitverse" since I'm admittedly not good with sappy writing, so if it does come out wonky (if it were to arrive before any other chapter I mean), please pardon it.
P.S. If there are any errors that need to be brought up please tell me.
