Annabeth placed her headphones on her head. She was sitting in her room, scribbling in her notebook.
And I saw your eyes, and beneath your disguise, I saw evil-
I knew it was about time,
you finally showed me your crime!
I thought I knew what love was, but you climbed-
Up the wrong wrong wall,
I thought you were sublime, but you proved me wrong.
I knew it was about time.
Annabeth furiously scribbled lyrics inside her notebook. She sang them under her breath as she scrawled the words all over it. She finished the last line. "Schist. " She flung the book against the wall. It met the wall with a hard THUMP. She knelt down and picked up her sketchbook.
She stood up and shuffled out the door of her room, pulling on her retro windbreaker. She quickly brushed her teeth and raked a hairbrush through her golden curls. She hurriedly trotted down the stairs and waved at Thalia, grabbing a cup of tea, and spreading some avocado on some slightly burnt toast. Thalia was lounging on the sofa, with her feet propped up on the coffee table. She looked up from her phone and grinned at Annabeth. "You're finally awake, blondie." Annabeth was going to reply with a snarky comeback, but she was too tired.
"1. I was thinking up lyrics for our band. 2. Piper is still asleep. Why don't you bash on her?" She heard a flush from somewhere and an annoyed Piper emerged from the bathroom. She raised her eyebrow at Annabeth. "Trying to get me in trouble, Chase?" She said leaning on the wall. Annabeth dismissed her with a wave of her hand.
"Stop trying to be cool, Piper. And of course, I was trying to get you in trouble." Piper sighed and grabbed the peice of toast in Annabeth's hand. "What are friends for, amirite?" She said when she saw the glare that was on Annabeth's face.
Annabeth took a sip of her tea. "Well, the lyrics were a flop by the way."
"What's wrong with it? You were up all night." Piper asked, taking a bite of the toast. "It's just bad, ya know? I just know it." Thalia raised her eyebrow and stood up. "Can we see?" Annabeth clutched her notebook to her chest protectively. She would never admit this, but her lyrics were from her ex, Luke. Her very toxic ex. Then she got an idea.
"Nothing." She said. Thalia and Piper shared a look. "Aw, please Annabeth?" Piper always had a talent for sweet-talking. She could almost always get what she wanted with her voice. "NO." Piper slithered up to Annabeth. "Why not? Why is it a secret? If it's for our band, it's going to be public." Annabeth sighed and shoved the book to her band members. "There. You happy?" Thalia nodded eagerly, almost ripping the book while flipping the pages. Annabeth audibly winced when she saw Thalia tearing through the pages. "GENTLY." Thalia rolled her eyes and turned to Annabeth. "It's only pictu-" Annabeth was gone. Thalia looked around franticly. "Piper! What happened to Annabeth? These are just pictures!" Piper, who was toothily devouring her toast shrugged. "I dunno,"
Thalia stood up and searched the many roomed house. "Man, sometimes I hate being rich." I must have forgotten to tell you, but their band was famous worldwide. They were currently at their house in Malibu. She looked in the Library, which was Annabeth's favorite room. Annabeth's office, her room. ''ANNABETH ARCHANA CHASE!"
Annabeth was sitting in the Attic, writing with a dusty pen she found in the corner. She doodled on an old sketchbook that barely had any room in it. She drew with her loopy lines, making ugly sketches that turned into beautiful works of art. This was one of her favorite hobbies, after singing and writing. She was going to write some lyrics, but she wasn't in the mood. She put down her journal and got his sketchbook.
She poured her heart and soul into this. It helped that the Attic wasn't the stereotypical dusty, dirty old room filled with junk. It was more of a guest room. It was filled with junk, sure. But that was pushed into the corner. The room had a big king-sized bed, that was for guests if they had too many over. The ceiling had string lights attached to the roof. It was a comfy room, even though it was quite big.
She swapped the sketchbook and the journal this morning. Not because she knew they would ask, just because she still wanted to draw. Piper's sweet-talk also didn't work on her. She was a good actor, and she was subconsciously making a light sketch of her winning an oscar.
She snorted, then immediately regretted her mistake. Every sound was amplified throughout the house. She knew Thalia would be thundering up the stairs any second now. As expected, Thalia stormed up the stairs. "What the hell? I was worried?" Annabeth looked at her from the corner from her eye then pulled out her phone. "Aw, come on! I'm 18. Why would I be lost? You just want my notebook." Thalia pouted. "Maybe so. Why did you hide it?" Annabeth shrugged, still on her phone. "I dunno. it's private." Annabeth walked out the door.
Thalia followed her, bombarding her with questions. Why did I choose her and Piper to be my best friends? Annabeth thought. As Annabeth stepped out the front door, Thalia grabbed her arm.
"Where are you going?" Annabeth stuck out her tongue and raised her phone, where the uber app was open. "Going to McDonald's," There was a car right outside, and the driver was gaping at Annabeth. Probably surprised that a famous singer was riding in his car. She jumped in the car before Thalia could stop her, and rode to the distance. Thalia sighed. "What is with that girl?" She asked Piper. "It's private. You should stop being so curious all the time." Thalia leaned against the door frame. "I know, I just want to know. I can't help it. It's me. And didn't you ask her too?"
Piper sat on the sofa. "Maybe. It's fine, let her do what she wants. Can you get my copy of Peter Johnson and the Olympians? It's in the Attic." Thalia groaned. "Isn't that book for middle schoolers?" But she got it anyway. As she went up the many stairs to get to the Attic, she grumbled about having to do the dirty work. But she stopped complaining when she saw a book that had the words ANNABETH'S JOURNAL on it. She picked it up and lightly skimmed through the pages. "Piper!"
