I am a doctor but I will burn the world to protect those close to me

"After him!"

Reunion, a terrorist organization made up of the persecuted infected people of Terra, gave chase to the cloaked figure done the maze of alley streets in Lungmen. Weapons drawn as sprinted down the dark city streets. Crushing the scattered papers and trash in their way. The heavily armored soldiers with their shields and machetes, slammed trash cans in their way with a roar as they barreled down the alley. The quick-footed soldiers, their blades flashing in the orange glow of twilight, the sun just a minute away from nightfall, kept brisker paces then the heavily armed axeman behind them. Leaving the cloaked, caster to stay run behind them in an excellent combat formation.

The young man, in a black trench coat covered in the pharmaceutical company's Rhodes islands bright blue insignia, it's hood fully covered his face and a lower cowl covering his mouth, leaving only his bright, electric blue eyes to shine in the dark of the alleyways, panted as he ran form the several heavily armed members of the bloodthirsty group. A few strands of white hair waved under his hood as he panted under his cloak. His shoes stomping in the puddles of filthy unknown liquids that dotted the long-forgotten roads. The sides of the abandoned buildings, homes to those who once lived there, or the homeless souls that still wander the streets, loomed tall over him as he nearly tripped while he slides down a corner to and raced down next alleyway.

Only to hit a brick wall.

"Got ya now."

The hooded man from the Rhodes island turned to see the shield and sword caring leader point his blade at him as the rest of his men slowly advance on cloaked man. Forcing him to back into the wall as they took their steps deeper and deeper into the alleyway. Blocking the only exit save for the cloaked man miraculously being able to climb the towering wet slick walls of the houses behind and beside him.

Yet, there was no fear in his bright eyes as they did not fully look at the dangerous men approaching him. It was for the smallest of moments, as the man glanced up at the womanly figure on top of the roof opposite of him holding two blades and long silver hair. Unknown to the terrorist as they got closer with each passing breath. His gaze never left the shadowy woman as he tapped the wall twice with his finger.

The woman's sinister, maddening smile lit up the twilight sky.

The leader of the forces took a step forward. His blood-red mask gleamed under his hood as he commanded. "Now come nice and easy- "

Brick and stone erupted behind the terrorist as the walls of the builds around them crumbled. The ground-shaking as they turned around to see their exit utterly blocked by what looks like sliced up rocks from the sides of the buildings. Towering over them, they wouldn't be able to move the massive pieces of rubble without some powerful arts or explosives that would blow up the whole alleyway. Both of which they do not have.

"What the- "

"How'd this happen!?"

"A trap!? No way!"

"Contact the others!"

"I trying but I keep getting static!"

The terrorist scrambled to find a way out. Pushing the rocks and trying to reach the forces they were meant to meet up with before they got derailed when their target rushed past them. While Reunion panicked to find out what to do, the man discreetly put his finger to the communicator in his ear.

"Good work Lappland" The young man spoke as quietly as possible. "Now re-group with the others. I'll handle everything here."

The cheery voice of the woman on the roof giggled manically in his ear. "Heh heh! You're as crazier than I thought Doctor! You better not die! You still owe me a fight!"

"I won't. Now hurry back to your position. I am shutting off all communication now." With a tap on the watch on his wrist, there was a small pulse of electricity that no one but himself notices. At that moment all forms of contact with his party were cut off. Lappland had leaped off the building to rejoin the other operators. It is just a doctor and the armed terrorists.

"Fuck! Did the radio just die!? Now I am getting nothing!" The sniper snarled as he kept tapping the mike on his shoulder. Flicking the dial left a right to get the right frequency but kept getting static on every channel.

"Don't worry about it." The leader said as he turned to the Doctor that kept his back to the wall behind him.

"If this is tarp it's a bad one." The leader of the group pointed his blade at the doctor. "That guy there is just a doctor. Don't know why the boss wants him, but let's just beat him up a little. Figure a way-out. And head back to meet up with the main force dealing with Rhodes island."

"Right." The men agreed as the almost casually walked over to the defenseless physician backed into a corner.

"Don't know what the others want with a doctor. Hell, why do they bring him on the front lines like this?" One of the other swordsmen asked. His white mask titling in curiosity as he kept pace with his leader.

"Hell, if I know." The leader shrugged "I know some of the older guys told me to stay away from him unless ordered but I don't see why. Like I said he's just a- "

It may have been a bullet that hit him as the rising knee had slammed into the leader's face just as quickly. Shattering his mask, breaking his nose and chin in a single move. The rest of the men barely had time to register what had happened as the Doctor had seemly flown between them and leaped at the leader. His body a blur as he rushed past them, yet he didn't stop with just his knee breaking the man's jaw. As soon as his left foot touched the ground, he threw out his leg in a powerful kick that bends the leader's body and sent him rocketing back.

The doctor was still faster as he swiftly caught up with the battered leader's flying body and grabbed his face and slammed the back of his head into the ground with a sickening crunch that cracked the concrete. The rest of the men finally were able to turn around just in time to hear the leader's bloody gasp of death as the sound of a thin blade sliding out of its sheath and piercing through a skull echoed throughout the alley.

"Your right…" The 'doctor 'said in the cold, unfeeling voice of a young man as he stood up. A black, wrist-mounted blade, dripping with blood peaked from under his wrist as his full towering height is bathed in the steadily setting sun. A small gust of wind whipping around his cloak at the leader of the small band of reinforcements one last twitch of life form his finger.

"I am a doctor." The blade clicked back into the sleeve of his jacket as he turned his head. His eyes seeming to glow a thunderous blue. His pupils, sharp black slits like blades, gaze down each of them such a cool gaze the air around them dropped. There was no malice. No hate. Not even bloodlust. Just pure, untamed death.

"Which means…I can make your meeting with the reaper as quick and as painful as possible."

"You son of a- "The sniper didn't hesitate to pull out his pistol and open fire at the doctor. The caster behind him shot a volley of black originum arts at him. Only for the physician to kick up the dead man's shield and block the shots as he dashed behind a trash can. The bullets and arts bouncing off the shield as the doctor hides behind the dumpster a myriad of shots raining down on his cover. Creating holes and dents as the men began to gather themselves. However, in less than a flash of movement, the doctor tossed out the shield from behind his cover and knocked the gun out of the gunman's hands.

Like lighting, the doctor stuck. Blitzing through the caster's magic. Stepping past each blast of arts as if he was vanishing from place to place, and he reached the sniper in four steps. The doctor's fist slammed into the gunman's gut before anyone could blink. The punch collided with the thug's stomach with the force of a runaway truck and it would have sent him soaring back if the doctor didn't continue his whirlwind of blows.

Rapid-fire punches, six in total slammed into the gun men's face and chest. Three blurring jabs to the chest, a jaw shattering haymaker to the face, fallow by a palm strike to the chin that shattered teeth and another jab to the throat. With a spinning kick, that snapped like a whip, crashed into the terrorist's face. Breaking his mask and sending him hurling into a wall. A sickening crunch could be heard before his cracked skull slid down into the pavement. Blood coating the wall and pooling around his broken body.

"Ragh!" The caster snarled and sent a flurry of magic bolts that chased the cloaked man down. They were followed by two blade-wielding members that were on the doctor before the blasts of magic. For the doctor's tall height, he proved far more agile than any of them as he backflipped to dodged the dark balls of energy. However, as he landed on his feet the two swordsmen were on him with weapons posed to slash him in two.

"Yagh!" They swung their blades.

And yet when the doctor raised his arms in defense, swords met his wrist with loud metal clangs that made their blades bounced off them.

'What the!?' The terrorist thought as he felt his blade be knocked back. 'Metal armo-gah!?'

The thug's thoughts were shattered form the doctor's boot slamming into his noise. And he was knocked through the air by the second foot following after it. His body collided with the caster, that was trying to find an opening but only got his comrade's dead body thrown at him. Knocking back and sending his blot of energy harmlessly in the wall.

The second swordsman wasn't so easily put off as he came in for another slash. Only for it to be dodged and counter as the man sidestepped his slashes. Grabbing his arm as he came for a side slash, the doctor snapped the bone in three places with two punches and pulled his face into his palm where the hidden blade shot out and pierced the man right between his eyes. As his body went limp, the doctor continued his assault. His blue eyes slashing through the shadows of the buildings as he dashed around the alley.

The doctor tore through the men like a hurricane. Nothing they could stop his advance as the only thing they saw before he stuck is the bright blue streak of his eyes slicing through the air. Running along the walls to avoid gunfire and blots of arts before coming down on them with his blade slice their necks open like a wild animal. Blood painted the walls and floor, but never his coat as he was too fast for it to splatter on him.

For the terrorists, they could do nothing but wait for their deaths. Fighting feebly against the blinding attacks that felt like they were fighting an army. One punch felt like three. Two kicks felt like being hit by six. Every time they would slash their swords, shoot out a blast of arts, they would only hit an afterimage of air as the doctor would already have his blade at their throats. This is not considered a fight. One should call it a slaughter but that would be tamer to this massacre.

His wrist blade cut through the throat of the caster as he bounced off his to kick the swordsmen back. He rushed him down with two short punches to the throat and a final palm strike up his chin where his blade came out and stabbed him through his head. As he fell a large muscular man, taller than even the doctor, classified in reunion as a Lodger, rushed at the doctor's back. Too slow to act during the doctor's onslaught, with the speedy man's back now turned, the thug took his chance to strike with his massive axe raised high above.

Yet his blade met the clang of another. The doctor slashing back at him with a short sword of his own that he had pulled from under his cloak. It's a pure black blade with the curved edge of a katana, with a thin handle wrapped in red cloth. It cut through the dimming light of the sky as the sun dipped further below the horizon. Sparks from their weapons clashing danced across their faces and, for a short breath gave the lodger a glimpse at both of the icy cold eyes of his foe.

However, that only enraged him as he roared and swung his axe down again. Only for the doctor to swing back and counter his blow. Knock his axe up again but he wasn't deterred. He only swung down harder and faster. Once more the doctor to meet and knock his blade back. Their blade's met faster and faster as the wind started to whip and slice around them as they clashed endlessly in the twilight.

Sparks flew and danced in the dark of the alley as the song of metal against melt echoed off the walls. The lodger was keeping up as he grunted with every swing of his arm. Faster and faster, he swung as his arms felt on fire from the strain. And yet the doctor still has that cold, icy gaze as he didn't show the tiniest ounce of fatigue.

It was impressive the axeman was able to keep up the blinding speeds. Though it did not last as long as he had wished.

One quick parry was all it took for the axeman to falter and be easy prey as his arms were knock up for the last time. Leaving him open for one small second. And that was all it took for the doctor to land the killing blows.

The five slashes across the man's body were so fast that for a moment, it seemed wounds didn't take effect as such as no blood was spilled. Even though his armor is cut cleaning open with fresh new scars on his body. It wasn't until the doctor turned to flick his blade clean of blood that he axe man's body exploded in a gush of red. Blood erupting from the cuts on his chest and his mouth as he felt back like a tree that was cut down.

"Haaa…" With a sigh, the man under the hood sheathed his blade under his cloak. The sun has yet to fall behind the sea of clouds as it is still a minute away form nightfall. Around him, bodies and blood covered the alleyway. The alleyway made a graveyard look loud as the reaper made its way through. And yet the doctor feels nothing. No hate. no sadness. No happiness nor relief. Not even the vast emptiness of the void. Just the purity of nothing.

And that, to his core, worries him the most.

Pushing back those thoughts, he tapped his ear to re-establish the link with his squad.

"Uwaaaa! D-D-Doctor! T-T-This is really bad!"

Only to get a very nervous Jessica stammering back at him. So, nothing new.

"Calm down." And yet his youthful voice did not waver as he took command as usual. "Give me a run down. How many are injured? How many are dead? Were their more reinforcements then we thought?"

"Um no, doc..." Lappland's voice spoke up. Uncharacteristically uneased. "It's uh well- "

A massive explosion rocked the alleyway as the stone that once blocked his path flew forwards, and upwards. Rocks turning into dust as the wall behind him practically evaporated from a powerful blast of originum arts. The ground rumbling form the sheer power being poured out through the area as the air shook from the vengeful, unrelenting rage that washed over the doctor.

Turning around the doctor saw the cause.

And very small and very angry Amiya as she hovered off the ground. Her cute bunny ears pointed straight up in rage. Her arts flowing around her as she looked rather…. Miffed. To say the least.

"Amiya found out…." Lappland squeaked in the doctor's ear.

With the powerful rabbit's eyes boring down on him the doctor sighed, "…Noted…."

-OOO-

The control center of Rhodes island is surprisingly packed today. It seemed as if all of the operators in the ship are gathered around, sitting on boxes, and standing to the side to watch an event. That is more like a public execution just without the actual death.

"….." Dr. Kal'tsit's normally icy still is utterly heartless as she bore down the doctor and his operators. Him and all six of the operators he brought with him, minus Amiya who is glaring at him as she stood next to Kal'tsit, sat with their legs folded under them and their head bent down in a mix of fear and shame.

A scolding from Kal'tsit is almost like an event given the vicious verbal lashings she gives are as impressive and deadly as a sword fight. But many of the operators watching the display were more curious about the doctor's face as it has finally been revealed to the newer members of Rhodes island.

The face of the tall, at times stoic tactician is a young one though not too young as he looks older then Kal'tsit herself by a year or two. A hardened face, yet still gentle-looking even as he began to sweat under the icy woman's glare.

Short snow-white hair, with a few black streaks, framed his handsome face as a thin ponytail flowing down his back and long pointed ears. Though most curious is his eyes. Deep dark blue eyes, ones that are hard to read and few have seen under the heavy hood he normally wears with sharp black pupils like that belonged to a reptile. They didn't round out like that of a cat, they stayed pointed like blades as they looked up at Dr. Kal'tsit with worry. A long fluffy black tail belonging to a Lupo normally hidden under his cloak is now out in the open for Jessica to use to comfort herself. The doctor cannot be placed in a single race as he looked like a combination of many. The height of an oni, ears, and fangs of a Sarkar, the tail of a Lupo, and who knows what else.

Many of the operators were shocked to see the doctor be a semi-normal person. Most, more so the newcomers thought him to be a robot or some creature from another world given they never saw his face for months. Those that have never seen his face didn't expect him to be a rather handsome looking man; At least many of the operators thought so judging by the blushes on a few of their faces. Those that already seen his face, a very small few such as Siege, Skadi, and others aren't all that shocked by his appearance.

However, one of the other operators was too preoccupied with trying to escape whatever fate Kal'tsit had planned for them then gawking at the doctor.

Lappland peak from behind Hoshiguma's towering frame. Spinning her head left and right as fast as possible to make sure both doctors didn't have their eyes on her. Nodding to herself, and ignoring the stairs form the operators seeing her, the mad swordswoman tiptoed her way to the door. Slowly step by step, Lappland quietly crept behind everyone towards the door leading out of the control room.

She was about to make her escape. Until Kal'tsit said one word.

"Red."

The wolf hunter of Rhodes island dropped her head form the ceiling of the doorway in front of Lappland suddenly.

"Yes, Dr. Kal'tsit?"

"Sweet Texas on a bike!" And put utter terror into the maddening wolf girl. Falling on her rear in shock, Lappland scrambled to the doctor's side. Latching on to him in pure fear and shivering into his arm. The man could only sigh and give a consoling pat on her head. He then turned his attention at the furious woman above him. Even though her expression didn't change much, it easy to tell she wanted his head on a pike at the moment. Still, he tried to reason with her.

"Look Dr. Kal'tsit- "

"Oh? Is the foolish moronic dead man named Shirou speaking? It must be because no other idiotic creature would be stupid enough to even grasp at the moment. But you've clearly proven to be far above and beyond simple stupidity Dr. Dumbass. No. You clearly have a mastered class in advance stupidity."

And was promptly shot down.

"Wow. She even used his first name." Closure whistled as she swung her legs while sitting on the boxes of supplies, she was delivering. "I haven't seen her this pissed since that time I ate her pudding cup."

Warfarin looked at her fellow vampire in suspicion. "You…. Didn't do that on purpose did you?"

The shop keeper only gave a proud V in victory.

"Are you suicidal or just stupid?" Spot deadpanned next to them.

A few other operators and members of Rhodes island shared their own whispers as well as they watched Kal'tsit verbally decapitated the Doctor.

"Oh..." One of them being a somewhat newcomer. A young wild Sarkaz code-named Flamebringer. The mysterious Sarkaz's gave a hunting smile as his fangs peaked form his lips. "Has he remembered his old self? I would if- "

A hammer nearly shook the whole room as it was brought it down hard. Denting the floor as the got almost everyone's attention but mainly the Sarkaz swordsman.

"Whatever your thinking, don't."

The lioness for Victoria codenamed Siege, and her second, Indra hung back in the shadows of the control room. Having no place to sit, the gang leader sat on top of a few boxes. While her throne is made of cardboard, that doesn't stop the overwhelming commanding air she has about her. Most of the operators gave her a lot of space. Leaving only a few hanging around her, and even then, they kept their space. The lioness's eyes glaring down at the Sarkaz swordsman, while Indra, her most devoted follower, cracked her knuckles.

"Yeah. The doc belongs to the master. You touch him, and your ass is dead flame punk."

"Indra…." Siege sighed. Though she wasn't wrong, the way Indra said it makes it sound more ominous than intended.

Surprisingly, the combative swordsman held his hands up in a show of surrender. Though he did not lose his cocksure and dangerous smirk. "Easy there kitty cat. I am not planning on going all out with the-ah can't say that around Dr. Kal'tsit. Heh. Don't need another scar."

"Say what?" Siege pressed her brow raised curiously as her ear flicked in thought.

"Sorry. But even I am not brave enough to poke that dragon." The swordsman said as he turned to leave with a flippant wave of his hand. "Though…. some of the veterans might now something."

The lioness eyes swiftly went to the one of the oldest operators, Rangers, in the room as Flamebringer left. The old Savran archer, sighed as he felt the hard eyes of the lioness fall on him. "That is a beast best left rested Madam Siege."

The veteran picked up his bow as he too got ready to leave. Knowing if the other operators overheard their conversation, Kal'tsit might actually skin him alive. Leaving the other operators that heard him with ominous parting words. "Our doctor's past, his past self. Was not something to be trifled with. And Dr. Kal'tsit herself forbids any conversation about it."

'More secrets….' Siege sighed. As close as she is with Shirou, there are still many secrets she doesn't know about him. And given he has amnesia there a more that even he doesn't know about. she can easily guess what a few other operators have deduced, that the reason he is in such trouble isn't that he had gone off alone. Judging from what she got from the other operators before Kal'tsit took them, someone took out those supposed reinforcements form Reunion.

It wasn't hard to put two and two together.

''Guess I'll ask Morgan to look into it later…." The lioness let out a listless yawn as Dr. Kal'tsit continued her berating.

Prying the shaking Lappland off him, Shirou stood up to try to explain himself or at least try to quell Kal'tsit's rage a little. Only to be met with Kal'tsit's vicious guardian that appeared from under her lab coat. The black beast made of her infection hissed and snarled right in Shirou's face. Close enough that he could feel the heat the of the beast warm his nose as it hissed and snarled him. Even though he towered over her petite frame, Kal'tsit didn't even waver from the young man's frozen gaze. If anything, she made him look small with rage in her eyes.

And yet the man it sighed. Not to calm his nerves or in exhaustion. But in preparation for probably getting drop kicked off Rhodes Island.

"We were pinned down. Every operator was surrounded and too busy to intercept the reinforcements that Reunion sent. I could not spare someone with someone else dying. It was only a small platoon, and I was fast enough to get them off our trail and return to the squad unharmed. It was my only option. No one was harmed. And everyone returned safely."

"…" Kal'tsit eyes could kill a lesser person as they narrowed further and her summoned monster snarled at the young man.

"…" And Shirou still stood his ground with his own steely glare. The tension in the room was heavy enough that not even Skadi's blade could cut through.

"Well, congratulations." Kal'tsit summon vanished under her coat after what seemed to be an endless silence. "You've staved off your beheading."

"Hoshiguma. Executor. Schwarz. Nearl." As she called the names of the operators, they all stood up and walked forward.

"Red."

The wolf hunter instead decides to drop from the ceiling again.

"Fuck!?" Right next to Texas who had jumped into Exusiai's arms in shock.

"Sup Red! Having fun spooking Texas?" The redhead chuckled.

"Yato."

"Yes, Dr. Kal'tsit." The stoic swordswoman walked forward as she was there beside the penguin logistics members the whole time.

"Sweet apple pie on a bike!?" The silent oni spoke up right next to the gun angel who shot up and jumped into Croissant's arms in fear. While still carrying Texas.

"You have to teach me how to do that Yato! Your more sneaky than that Shirayuki gal!" The forte girl giggled as she held her jumpy friends.

The bodyguard sighed at her unwanted skill at being unseen.

"I want around the clock surveillance on Dr. Heideki." Kal'tsit commanded. Her eyes not leaving Shirou's nor lessening their intensity. "If he's going out for a drink, I want three of you with him. If he's going to turn in reports, I want all of you trailing him. If he's using the bathroom, I want one of you outside by the door and someone inside watching him."

The young woman took a dangerous step toward Shirou as she almost hissed out her words. "During operations, I want at least three around him, including Amiya, at. All. Times. And if he even THINKS about pulling the same moronic idea he pulled today, I want you to, and I implore you all to take this as literal as possible. Hogtie him and throw him THORUGH my office door. So, I can give him the beating of his life."

"Do I make myself clear?" With her eyes burrowing down the doctor with a death glare that frozen most of the room.

"Yes, mama!" The operators Kal'tsit called out saluted at her command.

"As for the rest of you." Turning to the rest of the team that was the mission, Kal'tsit glare lessened. But not by much. "Factory duty for a month."

"A month!?" Lappland jumped up in disapproval.

"Oh?" Kal'tsit voice grew as cold as a tundra as she looked down at the mad Lupo. "Quite vocal are we Lappland. Then I am sure you wouldn't mind having Red bunk with you. Permanently."

"I meant great! A month! You should have made it a year, but you can't be too generous now you beautiful woman you! I am going to head there right now!"

The battle crazed woman ran so fast there was an afterimage of her still sitting on the floor.

"Everyone else is dismissed. Amiya. You stay." All the operators, save the young leader, went back to their stations. Leaving the control room with just Shirou, his new round the clock security detail, Kal'tsit, and Amiya.

The doctor sighed as he is released from Kal 'sit's glare. The woman turning on her heel and sitting down at the console to get back at her work. The young chimera gave a more apologetic, but still stern nod to the doctor before turning her attention to Kal'tsit.

"At least they both don't hate me…." Shirou sighed as he greeted his new bodyguard squad. Rubbing the back of his head in both embarrassment and remorse. "Sorry for putting you all on babysitting duty."

"Don't sweat it, doctor." Hoshiguma smiled as patted the doctor on the back. "Think of it this way. I can finally get those drinks from you."

Shirou paled a little as he gave a nervous smile. "Please don't. My liver can only take so much."

"I have to agree with Dr. Kal'tsit," Nearl stated as she walked next to him. "While it is a failing in me not being there to assist, you should be putting yourself in such danger Shirou. You are more than a mere tactician of Rhodes Island. Your loss would spell a destroy no catastrophe can compare too. I will do my utmost to never leave you unguarded again."

"H-However…." Nearl turned rather red face. "She didn't mean that bathroom order as a serious one…. Did she?"

"Executor will be handling that obviously." Yato said bluntly.

"You didn't think any of us ladies would do that." The oni gave a playful smirk. "That unless you wanted to?"

"O-Of course not!" The former knight turned a furious shade of red as she violently shook her head back and forth.

"I would not worry about being hurt by being hogtied." The Sankta gunman said plainly. "I am proficient in it."

"You say that like I am going to do that again." The doctor rolled his eyes as they all started to walk with him.

"It's you." Schwarz deadpanned. "I give you a week."

"Oh, I was going to say three days." The chuckled the oni as she kept pace with everyone.

"Please have some faith in me…ah."

They made a stop at the door as Siege stood in their path. With her normal expression as aloof and almost unreadable as ever. Even as she gazed up at the doctor as she stood in the doorway. Though with her being shorter than Shirou, like Kal'tsit, the former gang leader commands a powerful presence. Her stare made a few of the guards nervous as she gazes a lazy look at the doctor.

However, Shirou didn't hesitate to speak first. "I know your-mph?"

The lollipop being shoved in his mouth shut him quickly. It was strawberry.

"Please stop doing dangerous stuff like that. At least do it when I am around so I can watch your back. I have it hard enough trying to handle Indra and Morgan." Siege sighed though there was a lot more in her words then the others could hear.

The doctor nodded with the lollipop in his mouth. His eyes giving his apology and how he'll explain himself later. Knowing that the lioness with force an answer out him if he doesn't tell her upfront.

"Ahhh…" With a big, listless yawn the former gang leader turned on her heel. "Been too noisy today…. I am going to your office for a nap…. see ya there…."

"…. She's hard to read." Schwarz thought aloud as she watched the gang leader leave.

"Heh. You're not one to talk." Hoshiguma smirked but she agreed with the silent killer as she never had much of a conversation with the woman even though they are deployed together very frequently.

"Siege isn't as complex as you all think." Shirou said as he suckled on the lollipop. Taking note of its sweeter than normal taste. And the fact that red is a color of passion and love in the city of Victoria. "She's a lot more simple then you think."

-OOO-

Back in the control room, Kal'tsit pinched the bridge of her nose so hard that she could pull it off her face of she tired. She wasn't looking at any of her work as she tried to calm the tsunami of thoughts rampaging in her head.

After a long pause of silence, Amiya finally spoke up. "Dr.- "

"Don't Amiya." And was curtly, but oddly kindly cut off by Kal'tsit with a weary and slow response.

"I know it was the right call. I know it was the only way to keep everyone safe. I know he is more than in the right to make that choice." She looked back at the young chimera who's seen more death than anyone her age should. "You've been learning well form him if you're telling that while still being just an angry with him as I am. Though I don't know if that is a good thing or bad…."

"When I caught him, his eyes were not…. empty like there were before." Amiya said as if to comfort herself and the doctor. "He really was worried about the other operators and was trying to be more helpful. While I also don't approve of him engaging in combat, maybe that past self of his truly is gone."

"And as much as it pains me to say…. this was an inevitably." The young leader said with a hint of coldness in her voice that matches Shirou himself when he gives out a command. She truly has been learning a lot form Shirou. Both the good and the bad. "The doctor…. Shirou. His will to protect us. To protect everyone, he cares for. Will never die out. No matter what, he will always put himself in danger to keep us safe."

'I just don't want the old Shirou back….' Dr. Kal'tsit however wasn't so easily convinced as she ran a frustrated hand through her hair. 'That…. cold callous thing….it only cared about winning. Only cared about me and Amiya. Nothing else matter. Not him. Not the lives of his operators. Not even Rhodes island itself….'

Those dark days where they sacrificed so many people are still fresh in her mind. When he's eyes looked at everyone as nothing more than pawns to place on a chessboard. All those scars Nearl has formed all the dangerous positions he put her in. He doesn't remember the coldness in his gaze when she was nearly on her death bed. And he felt nothing. A machine of death. That's what he was.

'But…I guess this was going to happen one way or another wasn't it.' Kal'tsit shook her head and focused on another pressing issue. 'But how did he get those weapons back? I made sure to have kept them locked in the safe in my office. Shirayuki? No. That's not her job. Lappland knows about his skills, she helped him corner those reunion members. But I doubt she knows about his weapons nor of that stupid name people used to call him. Did he willingly go seek them out? Just what does he remember….'

The doctor sighed. Weighing her opinions and the words of her protégée. 'It doesn't matter. None of it dose. Amiya is right. This was going to happen one way or another. And it's not like he can find that sword anyway. I made sure that…. thing will never be found again. If he doesn't have that he can't go to frontlines. Without that…. he'll be safe.'

"For now, the best we can do is monitor him and hope he doesn't get into too much trouble." The doctor said with a more clear, even head.

"Let me see your rings." Kal'tsit held out her hand and Amiya gave it to her.

"No signs of cracking. Your infection rate hasn't gone up either." It's was less an inspection and more of a coping tool for Kal'tsit herself. The routine of looking over the tiny, soft hands of Amiya relaxed her chaotic mind.

"Dr. Kal'tsit."

"Hm." The woman grunted as she turned Amiya hand over. Pulling up her sleeve to look at the black stones of her infection on her arm.

"He won't leave us like last time." Amiya ave a small reassuring smile that lite up the whole room.

Kal'tsit eyes lingered on the soft curve of Amiya's palm. "I know."

"Alright, you're clean. Still head to Dr. Heideki for an additional checkup." Kal'tsit said as she turned in her chair. Back to her normal, if not stiff, self.

"Want me to smack him for you too?" Amiya joked with a childlike grin.

"Go." Though she wanted to say yes Kal'tsit had to focus on her work. Yet as she heard the retreating footsteps of her protégée, she pulled out an old photo from her pocket. Letting the nostalgia wash over her as she looked at the two children in the image. One was her. Small and pale, always sick as she was stuck in the hospital. She is being held up by a boy. Short white hair with black highlights. A big silly grin on his face showing off his fangs as he held a shocked a blushing six-year-old Kal'tsit up in his arms.

". All these years, after everything I've done. After how strong I've become…You're still protecting me…" A forlorn smile graced the young woman's lips as she traced the edges of the photo with her fingers. Happy times long since passed as now most of her memories are filled with tragedies worries and a few rays of light.

Sighing in defeat Kal'tsit rested her hands in arms. "Damn it Shirou…."

Bonus scene:

In her office, Kal'tsit typed and clicked on her keyboard as she took notes on her current findings. Her office an organized mess of books and notes. Her desk is even more cultured as her warm cup of coffee was sitting on another set of notes she was achieving in her computer on another patient.

Reading the words to herself, she swiftly typed them out. "The operator's organs- "

"Wait! Guys stop!"

However, a very familiar voice interrupted her thoughts. Bring a swift frown to her face.

"Dr. Kal'tsit orders Dr. Heideki. Now I suggest you stay still this will hurt."

"I guess Schwarz owes me a drink. It only took two days."

"Hoshiguma! Executor! Please don't! You don't know what she'll-AGH!?"

Crashing through her door, and slamming on her table, Shirou, hogtied like a roasted pig, bounced on her other work desk. Shattering the test tubes as he laned on his back with his arms and legs tied up and together.

Hoshiguma poked her head casually, "Yeah he did it again. Amiya will brief you on the rest after we are done debriefing."

"Understood. You two are dismissed." Kal'tsit said as she stood up and walked towards Shirou. Making the young man sweat with every step.

"N-n-now D-D-DR. k- "

"You really don't know when to learn do you?" The doctor sighed as she started to crack her knuckles.

"Wait! Not the face-OW!"
