How long has he done this? Days? Months? Years? No, he shouldn't be so dumb. It was all one night. One really long night that never seemed to end. Even if Gehrman freed me from the Dream or the Moon Presence turning me into the new host after i slain Gehrman, i would always wake up back in that god-forbidden Clinic. Tonight will be different though, tonight I will ascend. I will ascend past the Dream, past the Nightmare, and i will ascend past the Great One that started it all.
I will become a Great One.
"Eileen, Yharnam is gone. It's best if you leave Djura alone and just leave. There's nothing here for you." Saber, the Good Hunter, spoke. He was leaning against the entrance of Old Yharnam, staring down the old crow herself.
"He is a Hunter that has lost his way, he is a danger to everyone." Eileen takes a step forward, her pistol and blades of mercy ready. "If you wish to protect him and those beasts, I guess you have lost your way as well, hmm?."
"I've lost my way a long time ago but that doesn't matter. I'm a Hunter of Hunters and I even see that this is pointless, Yharnam has fallen and God knows what's going on outside these walls." The Good Hunter looks out the entrance, staring at Old Yharnam. Blood Moon was high, the sky becoming a plethora of colors. How knows what is happening outside these walls. People turning into beasts, becoming mad, or maybe everything was fine and Yharnam was just a focial point for the Great Ones. He will find out soon enough.
"Plus, rogue Hunters might have left. With the blood moon high, they'll become beasts. Unless of course they're Dreaming Hunters, like me or were ones like you and Djura." The Good Hunter looks back at Eileen. She had her weapons away, seemingly in a trance as she stared at Old Yharnam.
"Djura was once a Dreaming Hunter? Well, that explains a lot. It does put me at ease that he won't go mad or become a beast anytime soon. I guess it is better he stays in Old Yharnam, he will watch over the beasts and if any bloodthirsty Hunter comes his way, they will be slaughtered." Eileen sighs, turning away from me and the entrance. "Still, no time to rest. If beasts or some Hunters did escape, than I must Hunt. I will take your advice, Saber, but only this once. Don't want the student to become the master to quickly now, do we?" She chuckles under her mask.
The now named Hunter, Saber, smiles. "Yeah, don't want that to happen too soon. Take care, Eileen, and may the Good Blood guide your way." He waves her off as she walks up the stairs to the exit. Once gone, Saber sighs. He didn't think she would leave, he thought she would just kill or incapacitate him to go into Old Yharnam. Thankfully, this run around he made good friends with Eileen so she saw him as a friend rather than a hunter that could turn any second. They did talk about the Dream and how Dreaming Hunters, whether they are ones or were, they seem to be immune to Beasthood or insanity of any kind. So that was a plus.
He looks at the lantern, the sole reminder that he was a Dreaming Hunter, forever to hunt and die. This time though, he was prepared. He felt sorry for Arianna, not only did she birth a Great One but she was loosing herself. Unlike the first Night, he comfort Arianna and offered her mercy. Now, her corpse lays in a grave in Oeden Chapel. Her child was burned and umbilical cord taken. Iosefska on the other hand, he made sure she died slow and painful. The other two, killing Mergo and finding in the Old Workshop. Strangely enough, he found a fifth on inside the corpse of Kos. Usually, three was good enough but five? That was more than enough to help him out.
Walking towards the lantern, the crouched down to it. Raising his hand, he touched and his world slowly began to fade away. In a matter of seconds, everything went black as he was sent to the Hunter's Dream. There, the Doll and Gehrman awaited his return. Oh, as well as Anna.
Hunter's Dream
Awakening upon the Dream, he was greeted with the Workshop's blazing glory. Well, it was glorious sight to him because that means the night was at it's end. He was one step closer to freedom.
"-And then, Saber came out of nowhere, his greatsword going straight through the pig. I was so scared." A little girl, around 10, was standing in front the Doll. She had short blonde hair with a white bow tied to her head. She held a drawing in one hand and a crayon on the other. "Saber was able to calm me down though once we made it to Oeden Chapel. I had so much fun with Miss Arianna and Mister Dweller. We played all sorts of games like-" Saber decided to ignore the little girl this time and go about his business.
He remembered that time in Oeden Chapel. Arianna absolutely flipped out when she saw Anna, the little Yharnam girl, and wanted to squeeze the girl and never let go. The Chapel Dweller, who was blind, was confused what was going on. As I as well. After introduction, Arianna begged for her to play with Anna. The Dweller wanted to play as well but he was more shy about it. He had to do business in Cathedral Ward anyway, so he agreed and left.
When he came back, Arianna was snuggling the poor girl to death as the Dweller talked, plus he was playing with around a random crayon Anna gave him. Surprisingly, Eileen was there, just staring at them. Eileen beckoned him over and well, let's just say what happened only stays with them. Well, only two could do that. Arianna was dead and the Dweller might be killed after the night's end. He will become a Great One, so he couldn't really tell anyone what happened without causing insanity. It wouldn't hurt to try though.
He entered the Workshop through the side entrance a began to work. By work, it was just a matter of organizing, repairing, and checking his runes. Saif and Holy Moonlight, fully repaired and placed the best Blood Gems he could find on them, and by best he meant cursed abyssal ones. Next, he checked the trunk. Full. Walking over to rune altar, he placed his hands on the red cloth and shut his eyes.
Oeden Writhe. Great Lake. Beast. Hunter.
Everything was good then. He was ready. Opening his eyes, he went the front this time and smiled under his top hat as the Anna noticed him. The Doll knew already but Anna still dragged her to him.
"Saber, I'm glad you're back. How was your talk with Aunt Eileen?" Anna tilt her head in obvious confusion. The act was just adorable. He nods his head and gives her a thumbs up. She smiles. "Glad it went alright. Me and Miss Doll are gonna talk and play a game."
He nods again, smiling even brighter. "Well go have fun, I need to have a talk we mean ole' Gehrman and his landlady. Don't go in the garden." He walks past the two, heading towards the garden. He stopped at the gate. Reaching into his pouch, he took out the five cords and crushing them under his fist. The insight that entered his head caused him to stagger forwards, grabbing a part of the metal fence to keep his balance. Gods, that hurt and that's saying something.
Standing up straight, making sure he could keep his balance without the need of a fence or cane. He pat down his harrowed attire, removing any dust he got from just being near Old Yharnam. He did the same for Henryk's trousers and the Old Hunter arm wrappings. Perfect. Taking a deep breath, he walks into the garden and towards Gehrman.
Gehrman was already standing, scythe ready.
"Hunter, are you ready? The night is near it's end and I know you won't accept my mercy as you have already told me. If you succeed to slay me and the presence, please, grant me a peacefully sleep. Away from this harrowing Nightmare." Gehrman took a step forward. I nod my head, Saif and Evelyn ready. "So be it."
"Tonight, Gehrman joins the Hunt."
They were dead. Gehrman was dead, freed from the Night. The Presence on the Moon was dead, another slain Nightmare. The Doll, staring at the Moon as she senses the lost power of the Dream. Anna, scared at what was happening to the Dream.
Past the Dream, in the Waking World. Eileen, leaving Yharnam and not looking back. Djura, watching over the beasts on his tower. The Chapel Dweller, praying for a peaceful and happy morning. Everyone else was dead.
Underneath Yharnam, they stirred. The Pthurmians, the Beasts, the Cosmic Kin, and of course the Great Ones. They knew the change, the sudden change in air.
In that instant, I felt and knew everything. I was omnipotent and omnipresent. I was EVERYWHERE. As soon as I knew everything, everything was replaced with pain. My brain, eyes, body, my soul, it was all on fire. I fell to the ground, not even bothering to stop my fall. I was blind, frail and weak, unfit to even be a Great One. Unfit for it's knowledge. I needed to change, I knew, I needed to rip away this body for my TRUE body.
The Doll knew her Hunter's mission. He told her about everything. The endless Night, the desperation for freedom, and the unending suffering. She guided him and despite his experience and knowledge, he accepted it. He helped the people of the Waking World and discovered five cords. He would become a Great One and be freed from this Dream and it's harrowing curse.
The Doll walks past Anna, who was curled up on the ground, and stands by the fence. Her Hunter raises into the air, the moonlight intensifying on him. His body changing, in ways no human could go through. Despite his pain of ascension, she could feel he was calm, accepting this change. He was ready.
A shatter. That all it took to bring peace back. Silence. Everything was right in the world.
Saber falls to the ground, moonlight washing over his body. Something was happening, SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING.
He stands up, trying not to fall again, and looks towards the Moon. It was shattered. The Moon was loosing it's power, HIS power, and shattering more into pieces. No, he can't allow this. He needs this, he needs freedom.
Desperation kicked in as he ran towards the Moon. One thing was blocking his way, the fence that surrounds the Dream. Colleting Moonlight, he launched himself over the fence, high enough to reach the Moon.
He reached out towards it, hoping and praying to get to it, to fix it. Instead, gravity took it's course and...
He fell.
Oeden watches as the Hunter plummets into the Cosmos, it's ever expanding abyss and light gravitating towards his body. They were accepting him as a true Great One despite his mortal shell. He pitied the Hunter but the moon shattering is not something he can interfere with nor bringing the Hunter back into the Dream.
Oeden was infinite though. He knew of multiple worlds, worlds where he can be of assistance and find peace. Perfect.
Oeden commanded space and time itself, shattering the Hunter into millions of pieces. With one command, the pieces went into many different direction into the Cosmos, each one heading for a world.
Oeden watching the pieces land in each world, before turning his gaze back to Yharnam, to forever watch the events of that world.
