The Two Hybrids-4

"Oh my gosh, that is just adorable." Emiko gushed over the picture of Kaen being hugged by Erma like a teddy bear that Fera took a couple nights ago.

"I know, it's just so freaking cute I can't believe it." Fera smiled.

"This is the thirtieth time you've both looked at that photo." Sam said.

"Your point?" Emiko and Fera asked together.

"Never mind." Sam sighed as Erma and Kaen were watching cartoons in the living room. "Hey where's Shenran? I thought he'd be back by now from that job of his?"

"He should be back, but he said he has to pick up a little something for Kaen. Don't know what it is though. I'm just hoping it's not dangerous." Fera exclaimed.

"So we were wondering if you'd like to come with us pet shopping?" Emiko said. "Erma was in a bit of a mood this morning, and so we decided maybe a pet would be a good thing for her."

"Maybe you could even find a pet for Kaen." Sam added.

"I doubt we'd be able to, but what's the harm in trying, right?" Fera smiled.

"That's the spirit." Emiko chuckled.

"Erma, Kaen, the five of us are gonna go on a little road trip, would you like to know where?" Sam asked as the adults went from the dining room to the living room.

"Pet shopping?" Erma asked.

"You guessed it sweetie." Sam smiled. "C'mon, let's turn this off and get in the car."

~Sometime Later~

"We've been to every pet store in town, and in the next town over. This is our last chance to find them both a pet." Sam exclaimed as they pulled up to a gypsy wagon with an old lady sitting in front of it, and a box with a sign saying, free puppies, beside her. "Seems legit."

"I smell rotting meat in the air." Fera exclaimed, getting out of the car, while helping Erma and Kaen out of their seats.

While the adults went to talk with the old lady, Kaen and Erma went to the box of puppies finding a multitude of them. Reaching her hand in, Erma tried to pet one of them, but they backed away.

"Aw, none of them want to…" Before Erma could finish that sentence, one puppy came up and sniffed her hand. Erma pet the puppy on the head, before she picked him up, and sat on the grass with him.

"My turn." Kaen said, hoping to get a puppy. He reached his hand in, and tried to pet some of the puppies, but they all backed away from him, and moved around his hand in the box if he got too close to their comfort.

Kaen was a little sad at seeing that there were no animals wanting to come near him, and just went back to the car, upset and ready to give up. Emiko, Fera, and Sam all saw this, they were happy Erma managed to find a pet, but were saddened when Kaen wasn't able to get one.

"Poor little guy." Sam sighed. "He's gotta be hurting right now."

"He is, but he's like his uncle. He's too prideful to let us see him this upset. I wouldn't be surprised if he climbed into the trunk through the backseat as soon as he got in the car." Fera sighed. "Probably doesn't want to make Erma feel guilty that she got a pet and he didn't during this little adventure of ours."

"He can be so sweet and considerate sometimes." Emiko exclaimed. "We'll take this puppy ma'am."

"Then take him, he's yours." The elderly fortune teller woman said.

Emiko thanked her one more time, before helping Erma and her new puppy into the car, and Fera was spot on as Kaen had crawled into the trunk through the backseat, and refused to leave it.

"We're just gonna have to be careful when driving." Emiko sighed as Sam started up the car.

"I do not like the idea of driving with a child in our trunk. It just feels wrong." Sam said, pulling away and driving off.

"I know but he's not coming out." Emiko exclaimed.

"Dragons and Werewolves are very stubborn creatures by nature. Put them both together, and their stubbornness is beyond human imagination." Fera exclaimed.

The drive home was quiet, and the puppy, who Erma named Siris, tried going into the trunk, but kept getting pushed back by Fera.

Finally, when they got back to their street, and Sam parked in his driveway, he popped the trunk, and Kaen leapt out of it and quickly ran to his house across the street.

"Great, that doesn't look the least bit suspicious." Sam said, with obvious sarcasm in his voice.

"Let it go honey, the neighbors didn't see. Besides they all know that he and his mother left with us earlier this morning." Emiko stated.

"I'm sorry. I'll go talk with him." Fera said. "Maybe I can get him to calm down."

Just as Fera was about to cross the street, the sound of a motorcycle engine revving caught their attention, and Kaen's Uncle Shenran pulled into the driveway, his clothes looking like they'd seen better days.

"Shenran?"

"Heyo sis." Shenran smiled, unstrapping a box with holes in the sides, from the rack on the back of his bike. "Where's Kaen?"

"He's inside the house, sulking about having failed at finding a pet, again." Fera exclaimed. "He's probably in the workout section of the basement. What's in the box?"

"A wish of his that's just been granted." Shenran smiled, heading inside the house.

Down in the basement, Kaen was actively using his arms to block and redirect the wooden arms of the moving martial arts dummy, trying to get his frustrations out. All he wanted was a pet. He was happy Erma managed to get one, but he still was upset that he wasn't able to find one for himself.

Kaen was about to punch the training dummy to splinters, before he felt something small and furry rubbing up against his leg. He looked down, and saw it was a small, Bi'an with white fur, and blue stripes indicating it was from the tiger species. Its wings were small, and its spines were nothing more than bumps. It was rubbing up and down his left leg, while also looping through his open legs, purring happily as it looked up at him, with adorable eyes, and mewed softly.

Kaen slumped down onto the floor, which the Bi'an took as a signal to come up and snuggle into his chest, as it continued to purr. From the base of the stairs, Shenran, Fera, Emiko, Sam, and Erma were watching this all transpire as Kaen hugged the baby Bi'an closer, a smile forming on his face as he finally got his one wish granted.

"Where in the world did you find a Bi'an of Peace and Serenity? I thought they were all extinct?" Fera asked.

"I had a friend who owed me a favor, told me there was a whole island of them in the Bermuda Triangle. The keeper of the island had put me through the ringer just to be able to get a cub that had been orphaned from its mother dying of old age after she gave birth to her final litter. The downside is the kitten isn't weaned yet, so I've had to stop every two hours or so on the ride home to feed it. The box was enchanted to keep it safe from the fumes my bike produced while I drove." Shenran explained.

"What about that big bounty you went after?" Sam asked.

"I got that done within five hours of being on the road." Shenran smirked. "I really wanted to see Kaen smile after getting a pet, and a Bi'an, is the only animal that won't run away from a dragon, making it the ideal pet for our Hybrid Warrior right there. An' since it's of a peaceful breed, Kaen will always have a something to calm his anger, and emotions if he ever gets upset or angry."

"I've heard about the Bi'an's Peaceful Breed, but I've never seen one before." Emiko smiled. "They're said to have the power to even calm the Gods of their anger."

"It's not far off from the truth Emiko." Shenran chuckled. "The Peaceful Breed are equivalent to the Pacifistic Monks in China. They have such a calming nature to them that even the natural wildlife isn't afraid to go near them. If they sense someone with a hint of negative emotion in their soul, they'll immediately jump into action to calm that person down and make them feel happy. They're gentle giants, and will only get aggressive if their group, or young are attacked or are in danger, and even then, they still retain their peaceful demeanor."

"So is this one a boy or a girl?"

"Oh, she's a female. Something about her, just made me think she was right for Kaen to take on as a pet." Shenran smiled. "An' since she's female, she'll immediately go into protective mode if anything with an ounce of evil intent towards him gets near. The females are known to naturally be ten times stronger than the males."

"You did good Shenran." Fera smiled, enjoying the smile her son now had on his face as he snuggled with the purring Bi'an cub. "You did real good."
