"So you're temporary guardians of her?" Maggie asked.

Derek and Meredith looked at eachother and then back to Maggie.

"Yes." Meredith said.

Zola was sitting on Lexie's lap, playing with a set of toy keys. Meredith looked at the time, 8:30, and decided to put Zola to bed. She picked her up and brought her to her room. Derek followed her up. Zola, lying in the crib, was smiling up at them.

"Goodnight Zozo. We love you." Derek said. Zola continued smiling at them. They walked out, shut off the lights, and closed the door.

Meredith leaned against the wall and looked at Derek, "Are we crazy? Because I feel like we're crazy."

"We're not crazy. We're going to be awesome parents." Derek said, wrapping his arms around her waist.

"No. Derek. No sex." Meredith said, Derek kissing her neck.

"You're no fun." Derek said. He kissed her and then took her hand and they walked downstairs. Lexie had already brought out the tequila and was pouring some into a cup.

Maggie took a can of pop out of the fridge and laughed, "Apparently if I get drunk that's against the rules of Mental Hospital."

Derek went to the fridge and grabbed a beer, "Well that won't stop me."

They all headed to the living room, Lexie sitting in the chair, Meredith and Derek sat on the couch, his arm around her, and Maggie sat on the other couch. They started watching their favorite Disney movie, Robin Hood.

After Maggie and Lexie were in their rooms, Meredith and Derek cleaned up downstairs. When they finished, Meredith headed to their room. Derek followed her up. When they both walked in, Derek wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her neck.

"Derek..." Meredith said.

"Cmon, I haven't had sex in two months. I'm going through withdrawal."

Meredith turned around and looked at Derek. He was smiling at her, the smile she couldn't resist. She kissed him, her fingers in his hair. He pressed her against the door and she locked it. He picked her up and put her on the bed.

It was the first day back for the Grey sisters. Meredith was the first one up and immediately got started for the day. She made a pot of coffee, brushed her teeth, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, and waited for the others to wake up. Derek came downstairs with Zola in his arms.

"Someone must be excited for her first day back." Derek said. He poured some coffee for himself and got Zola a bottle and filled it with formula.

Meredith walked over to him and reached out for Zola. She grabbed the bottle from Derek and gave it to Zola. "I didn't think I could wake up this early."

"I didn't know that either love." Derek said. He kissed the top of her head and walked upstairs.

"You guys sound like and old married couple. I don't know if it's cute or weird." Lexie said. She grabbed a mug from the cabinet and grabbed the coffee pot.

"Lex, you do realize I was with him for 5 years."

Lexie almost spit out her coffee, "Mer you were in a 5 year relationship and just ended it like that because you wanted to move back to Seattle?! You really hurt that man's heart."

"And now look at us. Only 3 months in and we have a kid." Meredith said. She looked down at Zola and smiled. It's like nothing had changed since her last year in New Hampshire and then.

Meredith was finally in her final year of med school, She knew she wanted to intern at Seattle Grace, she just didn't know how to tell Derek. She really loved him, and he really loved her. She even found a ring in his sock drawer.

She knew she had to tell him. She just didn't know how. One dau before Derek got home from work, she decided to get a pizza and put up a bunch of candles around the place. She figured make him so happy that when she tells him she's moving he won't be as upset.

Derek came home and put his jacket on the hook. He saw Meredith lighting a candle and a pizza box on the table. "What's this for?" He asked. He wrapped his hands around her waist and planted a kiss on her lips.

"Just a date night in." Meredith said. She walked over to the kitchen and poured them both a glass of wine. She brought it to the table and sat down.

"So, today Arizona had this patient that had an uncureable tumor. She told me that this patient had scene doctors all over the country but came to Dartmouth because Dr Campbell was the only one left to check the tumor out, and guess what? She got the tumor out. I mean, that's a medical miracle."

Meredith took a bite of her pizza and nodded her head. "That sounds amazing."

When they finished their pizza, Meredith began to clean up. Derek walked over to the island and took Meredith's hand. "So what really was the reason for tonight?"

Meredith couldn't hide it anymore, "I want to intern at Seattle. I need to be closer to mom and Richard already said I'd be guaranteed into the program. I didn't know how to tell you."

Derek went quiet for a moment, "I knew you would be the first to leave. I guess I just didn't want to believe it."

"Derek, I don't want to leave you, but long distance is hard."

Derek let go of her hand, "Go Meredith. I'm happy for you. I love you, I always will."

"I don't have to leave for another week. Let's make it last." Meredith said. She walked around the island and kissed him. He walked into the bedroom and locked the door behind him.

When everyone was up and ready to go, Meredith put Zola in her carseat and packed a diaper bag. She put her into the car and sat in the passenger's seat. Derek got into the driver's seat and they waited for Maggie and Lexie to get into their car before they drove to the hospital. When they got there, Derek got Zola out of the car and Maggie and Lexie walked up to Meredith. They took each other's hands and took a deep breath. Meredith was the first to let go of her sisters and grabbed the diaper bag for Derek.

They walked into the hospital and the first person they see is Addison. She watched as Meredith and Derek walked in with Zola and smiled. Finally Derek was happy and in love. She knew He didn't love Rose, not in they way he loved Meredith. She witnessed it all. She also knew he didn't love Addison near as much as he loved Meredith.

They dropped Zola off at the daycare and headed to their offices. They took the elevator up.

"You're going to do great Mer." Derek said. She looked at him and kissed him.

"Thank you Derek. I am really nervous."

"Don't be. You're extraordinary."

The door opened and they walked off. Meredith headed to General and Derek headed to Neuro. Meredith changed into her scrubs and lab coat and met with Lonnie Rodgers.

"Hey, Dr Grey! Long time no see." He said. Dr Bailey and Dr Wilson were in the room already. Since the accident, Dr Bailey took over the case. Lonnie had some of the tumors in his legs and arms removed already and was expected to get most of the tumors in his abdomen removed.

"Yes Lonnie, I had a bit of an accident, today is my first day back and am excited to see your progress."

Derek and Lexie walked in and listened to Meredith talk to Lonnie about his procedure.

"It appears that the tumors on the abdominal wall have grown, but they aren't fatal yet so that is a good sign. The tumors on your spine have no change in size as I can see which is really good. Today we're going to do a procedure to remove the tumors on the abdominal wall." Meredith said. Lonnie agreed and they all walked out.

"Wilson, can you get a resident for me, I'll probably need one on this case."

Jo went to find an available resident and Meredith caught up to Derek and Lexie.

"Hey Mer, good luck on the surgery later." Lexie said.

"Thanks Lex."

Lexie walked away to let Meredith and Derek alone, but gave Meredith a look before leaving.

"I have a feeling she doesn't like me." Derek said.

"No, she just doesn't like the fact her boss is dating her sister."

"So, how's today been?"

"Good, So far. Lonnie was my first patient today."

"What do you have next?"

"Nothing actually. I was heading to the lounge."

"I don't have anything going on." Derek said.

Meredith gave him a look, "Derek Christopher Shepherd we are not having sex."

"Fine but you know where to find me if you need me." Derek said, walking into an on call room.

Meredith looked at him with that look she gave him whenever he smiled at her. She caved. She went into the on call room and locked to door behind her.

Derek got a page from April and quickly got into his scrubs.

"What's up?" Meredith asked.

"Trauma. I'm needed." He said. He kissed her forehead and she got a page too.

"Wait for me, I was just paged too." Meredith said. She quickly got ready and they headed to the pit. They put on their trauma gowns and met April and Lexie.

"What do we have Kepner?" Derek said.

"19 year old, pushed down a flight of stairs, abdominal and head traumas according to the paramedic."

The ambulance showed up and the doors flew open. Out rolled a girl, beaten up and unconscious. They rolled her into Trauma 1 and assessed the damage.

"It looks like she was abused or something. Look at these bruses on her stomach." Meredith said.

"That could be from the fall." April said, "But most likely from a beating of some sort."

"Order a head CT. I'm worried about a brain bleed." Derek said.

"I need to get a CT too. I need to check out her abdomen." Meredith said. They wheeled her to get a CT and found that she did have a brain bleed and her wounds on her stomach were most definitely from abuse. They ordered an emergency surgery.

They were scrubbing in when Meredith remembered Lonnie. She looked at a nurse and said, "Page Dr Bailey and inform her that I was pulled into an emergency surgery."

The nurse did as told and Meredith prepared for surgery. She began an incision to fix the ruptured spleen from the beating she had received. Derek had begun repairing the brain bleed and April was assisting Meredith.

"Do you see the bleed?" Meredith asked April.

"Um, no I don't. Keep looking." April said. She winced with pain but continued working.

"Dr Kepner," Lexie said.

"Yes Dr Grey?"

"Are you alright?"

"Yep, just a contraction. It's probably Braxton Hicks."

"April, you're water just broke." Meredith said.

April looked down at the floor and saw the amniotic fluid in a puddle underneath her. She looked at the scrub nurse and calmly said, "Please page Dr Montgomery and Dr Avery. Tell them that I am in labor and that my water broke. Also page Dr Wilson to help Dr Grey assist." April scrubbed out of the OR and everyone continued working.
