Hey you, beautiful souls! I cannot believe it's been a year since I published my last story. I'm so sorry, things have been crazy. After Big Bang ended, I was in a long state of denial.
I hope you enjoy this one shot, pure fluff ShAmy story and I apologize in advance for any grammatical errors.
Disclaimer: I own nothing of The Big Bang Theory. This story is written for pure entertainment purposes only. (and to soothe my aching ShAmy and MaJim heart! I miss them so much! I know you all do too!
Weeks into quarantine, Sheldon and Amy finally had a routine. It's not like they do not have a daily routine, but as Sheldon puts it, this is their routine, quarantine edition. The couple did not mind staying at home; they've had a lot a practice growing up. They never ran out of something to do, talk about and brainstorm. When the news first broke late last year, Sheldon had been consistently preparing himself for the worst. He was already stocking up with food, water and basic necessities since then. To him, it wasn't hoarding. It's not as if he bought the entire grocery, he just made sure they will have something in case going out and grocery deliveries won't be available anymore. Again, Sheldon marveled how his brain and quick thinking is better than everybody's.
He was preparing dinner while his wife is sitting on sofa, flipping through the TV channels. "The news lately is so depressing, if not maddening" Amy groaned while rubbing her 32 weeks old belly. Sheldon smiled sadly at his wife, she's right. What's happening to the world is just so scary, every day he wonders how will they raise a child let alone children amidst a Pandemic, when the world now is full of uncertainty and chaos? What about Amy's delivery? The children's basic necessities? Nothing is ever sure about what the future holds and it terrifies him. Whenever Amy goes down to that road of worrying about the future, Sheldon assures her that he will do everything he can to protect her and their unborn children.
He thought back on the day they found out Amy was pregnant; they have been trying for a while because Sheldon really wanted a big family. Amy just wanted to start one. He noticed Amy has been unusually tired and sensitive with everything that she smells and taste. Like here senses are in haywire. One morning while the couple is having breakfast that Sheldon prepared, Amy suddenly felt nauseated when she smelled the eggs, followed by a good 10 minute of throwing up in the sink. Sheldon ran next to his wife and held her hair while she threw up, suddenly he froze and there was a glimmer of hope in his head followed by a small smile.
Is she? Could we be?
He didn't say a word, but after it happened a couple of times, he couldn't help but voice out his thoughts.
"Amy, I don't think its food poisoning. Maybe it's time to take a test." Amy sighed. It's not like she wasn't thinking about it but she wanted to be sure. "Okay, I will take the test."
Sheldon thought learning that he won the Nobel with his wife was the happiest day of his life. He could not be more wrong because of what he felt when he found out that Amy was pregnant. It was like he was floating, it was overwhelming but it felt good. Then there was the day when they found out they were having twins, a boy and a girl. It was like a dream come true, but a dream he never thought he had. Since then, he did not stop planning everything. From looking into new houses to driving so that Amy won't have to drive anymore. They were due to move into their new home in 3 weeks and everything has been perfectly organized already.
His musings was interrupted by a voice he would recognize in a heartbeat.
"Are you okay? Do you need help?" Amy asked followed by a groan.
"No, no, just stay there I'm almost done here. Do you need anything? Do you need to go to the bathroom?" Sheldon asked as he approaches his wife. He sat next to her and placed his hand on Amy's belly. "Are you in pain? Are my children having a boxing match again?"
Amy placed her hand on top and Sheldon's and said "No, I'm good. I just remembered I need to read those reports from the lab."
Since the outbreak, Bernadette has been working tirelessly with her fellow scientists to look for a cure and a vaccine. They have been studying the origin of the virus, Amy once worked with bats and have some helpful data from her research. And that's how Amy got involved in the studies. She is a biologist after all. Of course, being a senior scientist not to mention pregnant she just stayed at home where she works as a consultant of the ongoing studies. Sheldon wasn't happy about it because he thought it will just add stress to her everyday life but he cannot deny the fact that he loved watching his wife in her element. Sheldon realized that his wife is willing to go beyond any measures just to be of help to the humanity. So agreed, he knew Amy is responsible enough. He also loved how protective Amy has become of their unborn children. He noticed whenever Amy is feeling apprehensive, stressed, scared or surprised; she automatically has her hands on her belly - as if shielding their unborn children for anything that may cause them harm. That's how he knew that Amy would make an exceptional mother.
"Come on, let's eat first." Sheldon helped his wife up and ushered her to the dining table.
They were enjoying a quiet dinner when Amy glanced at the window and looked up. "The sky is beautiful today." She said smiling and Sheldon couldn't help but look up as well. Since her 2nd trimester, Amy has developed a fascination with Astronomy. It's not as if Amy was new to the subject, but Sheldon noticed there was a newly developed passion behind her enthusiasm. When Sheldon mentioned it to Rajesh, he became so excited and gifted Amy a very nice and expensive telescope much like the one he uses professionally. Amy spent a lot of time with Raj and reading about Astronomy and Astrophysics. Again, Sheldon was left in awe of how his wife could be so well rounded - something he did not notice before. He realized spending almost every minute of every day with her is a gift because he gets to see everything about his wife that he may have missed before.
Sheldon took care of the dishes as Amy gazed to the night sky.
"My gosh, the moon is so beautiful tonight! Have you ever seen something so beautiful you just want to grab it and keep it for yourself?" Amy asked still looking at the sky. Sheldon looked at her and said "I have and I did." Amy was so busy looking at her telescope, he's not even sure she processed his response. It's true though, Sheldon did not think Amy could be more beautiful than she was on her birthday when they first slept together, or during their wedding where she looked glowing with happiness. Amy is always so conscious of how big she has gotten but Sheldon is always able to put her mind at ease. She is a biologist after all; she of all people knew this is a natural thing to occur in a woman carrying a baby, let alone babies. But every single day, it surprises him to see how beautiful she is like this – carrying his children. It dawned on him that no matter what time of day, no matter how old they may have become, Amy will always be the most beautiful woman to him.
The couple went to bed shortly after Sheldon finished tidying up the kitchen and dining area. Amy is already in bed, headphones on her belly probably listening to some classical music. Sheldon smiled at the scene and joined his wife.
"When is our next OB visit? I keep forgetting. I don't even know what day it is right now."
"We are scheduled to come back in 2 days; we need a new scan with a Biophysical Score in it. And a new 4D scan! I'm excited. Mama and Meemaw will be so happy." Sheldon said as he climbed to bed next to his wife.
Amy smiled at her husband's excitement. She's more excited to hold her kids and have then not pressing in her bladder all the time. "I know. I can't wait! What should we do tomorrow? Aren't you sick of me yet? Amy asked joking.
Sheldon stared at her for a long time making Amy nervous. "See that's it Amy, that's what I have been thinking for the past few weeks that we have been together. I will never get sick of you. I am always looking forward to waking up next to you. I love how you surprise me every day of little things about you. I love how we could work together, or work on our own silently. I love our time together. I could do this for the rest of my life." Amy smiled in tears and said "That's so sweet, but we're you planning not to?" Amy arched her brows and grinned. Sheldon pulled her closer and said "Not in a million light years, my love."
END.
Happy Anniversary, my fellow ShAmy lovers! This day has brought so many feelings and so many memories! We're 1 decade down and we've still got forever to go! I started this story at the beginning of the quarantine while I was sick. Then I was unable to finish it because I have so many works to catch up on. When I realized the ShAmy Anniversary was coming, I tried to finish it as a little something to celebrate our favorite ShAmy holiday
I hope you're all staying healthy and safe! See you next time! I hope it won't be long. I've got a couple of ideas, unfinished and unpublished stories in my pocket. ;)
