Chapter 1: Beginning of another problem

Around 2000 years ago, a demon who "woke up to justice" and rebelled against his own kind for the sake of humanity. With his sword and his might, he was able to close the portal to the demon world and seal the evil beings from entering the human world. Unfortunately, since he was a demon himself, his power was also trapped in the demon world. This legendary hero was later be known as the Legendary Dark Knight or his real name Sparda.

3 months after the events of Temen-ni-gru (DMC 3)

-Devil May Cry Office-

It was a boring day for a man with short white hair. He was wearing red pants with two black belts wrapped around his right thigh, a black leather belt, black gloves, high black boots, and a red coat with upturned collar and short sleeves with black cuffs. Underneath his coat was long sleeve black shirt that covered by red vest with black clasps.

This was leaning in his chair, feet on top his table with a magazine about guns on top his head. The fan above him was spinning and the jukebox that was playing music in which the white-haired man was listening too. Although, it was a boring day. It was also a relaxing day too.

Unfortunately, that came all to end when he heard a creak from his office door opening.

"Dante." He heard a female voice call out to him.

The man now identified as Dante didn't really want to deal with this today, but he knew it was faster just to talk to her then to get her to leave.

"Yeah, Lady." Dante said as he removed the magazine on his head which landed on his desk and opened eyes revealing their blue color.

The woman at the door has dark, chin-length hair, heterochromia eyes that resulted in having a red left eye and a bluish-green right eye. She has scar across her nose and a necklace with a red-gem on it. She was wearing a school girl outfit that sported a short white blouse that showed her midriff and sleeves that reached her elbows, a greenish skirt, a utility belt to hold magazines for her guns. A harness attached to the utility belt that carried her rocket launcher that has large bayonet attached to it. Two brown belts on her right thigh, and orange and brown knee-high boots.

Lady preceded to step forward into Dante office and quickly observed its content. The desk that Dante usually sits around has a black rotary phone, a black glove that has a cut in it, and a portrait that she couldn't see since it was faced toward Dante. On her right was a red old couch, a table, a drum kit set, and a couple of guitars and amps. On her left was pool table. However, behind the pool table was a wall of odd weapons. There was a triple nunchaku, a red and white scimitar, a strange looking guitar, a beastly looking gauntlet and greaves, a sniper rifle, and an angelic looking crossbow.

Lady knew what they were. Those were the devil arms collected by Dante when he defeats a rather powerful demon and they turn into a manifestation of the demon soul. He got all of those during his time at the Temen-ni-gru with most the weapons coming from former demons.

As she made her way towards his desk, she also noticed his signature sword behind him leaning against the wall, the Rebellion. It was a massive doubled edge blade with plain grip, spikey pommel, and a screaming skull with a rib cage on the hilt. She also noticed another plain looking sword beside Rebellion that too was leaning against the wall. This sword had a "W" shape as the sword guard and a skull at the end of the grip. And she finally noticed a double barrel shotgun on the floor too.

"So, how have you been?" Lady asked.

"Nothing much really" Dante answered. "Just killing demons, training, relaxing, and dreaming."

"Training?" Lady questioned as she got somewhat curious.

"Yeah, I been focusing on my space/dimensional magic since I could only carry 2 guns and 2 devil arms during my time in that unholy tower." Dante answered. "Now I can carry a lot more."

"Alright Dante." She said as she decided to get back to business.

"If you want your money, unfortunately I don't have it." Dante said.

"Of course, this was going to happen." Lady said disappointingly. "Why did I even come here anyway?"

Before Dante could answer that with his trademark humor. His phone started ringing. He kicked his back heel on his desk causing the phone to launch in the air. When the phone started coming toward him, Dante extended his arm and caught the phone. He then brought it to his ear.

"Devil May Cry." Dante introduced himself to his potential client.

"Hello, is this the agency that does odd jobs such as demon hunting?" His potential client questioned.

"That Correct" Dante answered.

After a couple minutes on the phone. Dante put down the phone and got up. He picked up Rebellion and put it on his back.

"Where are you going Dante?" Lady Questioned.

"I just got another job that pay a little bit better than the last job I took." Dante Answered. "Anyway, I'm going kill a demon that inside the Belmont church which is located at Simon Street and Richter Avenue."

Before he left the front door, he switched the store sign from "Open" to "Closed".

"Oh yeah, Lady," Dante called her.

Lady is looking at him expecting some request about money.

"Remember to turn on the shop sign around 8 PM." Dante said.

Lady proceeded to roll her eyes and sighed. Dante walked out and closed the door.

20 minutes later…

-Belmont Church-

Dante was standing outside a dingey old church that has seen better days. Windows were cracked, building exterior had cracks and broken pieces around that made look like it can fall in any second, and the lawn of church was never taken care of for a very long time.

'Gee, what a dump.' He thought.

He proceeds to walk up to the doors and open them. He was greeted with benches either broken or scrambled into different places, the roofs had cracks in them that allowed light to pass on through, and glass stained windows were broken in many different places. He went into the church and immediately felt a demonic presence.

"You know, if playing hide-n-seek is your what good at, then you have chosen a bad partner to play with." Dante called out.

"Son of Sparda." He heard demonic voice that he knew was coming from behind the altar.

A short man who step out behind the Altar came to the front of the podium. He had short green hair, green skin, and glowing red eyes. He was wearing a black cassock and a black fascia. He was wearing no shoes of any kind and was holding a white flip-phone in his hand.

'So that how he called me.' Dante observed as he looked toward the cell phone his hand.

"Son of Sparda." The demon repeated.

"Yeah that me." Dante said. "Let me guess, you're here to listen to my confessions and tell me to pray for ugly midgets like yourself to become taller and more handsome.".

This remark didn't get to well with the short demon.

With a battle-cry, he charged towards Dante as fast he could.

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

Gun shots were heard throughout the entire the church.

The demon was sent flying back the podium, dropping the flip phone on the floor.

The demon was clutching his wounds and looked up only see that Dante was holding two pistols. One pistol was white and the other one was black.

Ebony and Ivory. Dante favorite pair of hand guns. The right-handed white gun was Ivory, designed for rapid firing while the left-handed black gun Ebony, was designed for long-distance shooting.

"You damn bastard." The demon cried.

"Hey look at the bright side, you might be not so ugly next time around." Dante said as he walks towards to demon to finish him off.

When he reached halfway towards the podium, the room lit up red due to a magical seal forming in a perfect square which also covered the roof.

"Hiding behind a magic barrier?" Dante asked boorishly.

"No." The demon answered.

The floor started change to a different color and magic started to activate right under Dante boots.

'Talk about my unlucky day, it's a trap.' Dante thought.

"While I can't defeat you." The dying demon said. "I certainly will bring you to my master."

"Who that? A garden gnome?" Dante joked.

Unfortunately for Dante, the floor magic ritual was complete and it become a blue portal that sucking everything in it. Once he fully fell into the portal, the portal started close and the magic barrier started to fade.

The demon that he was once facing started laughing before succumbing to his wounds.

-Unknown Portal-

Moving through the bluish portal fast, he was wondering where this stupid portal was going to take him.

The Cell phone that the demon had dropped earlier was in Dante hand.

'Good thing I picked this up on my way going down here.' Dante thought.

He was wondering were he could end up too, hopefully somewhere on earth where he can call Lady or discover where we he was.

He quickly flipped it open to be greeted with dim screen saying Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Soundtrack.

'Yes, this thing still has battery in it.' Dante thought happily.

Then he was greeted with the dead battery symbol right after.

"Oh, come on, I knew my rotten luck wasn't that bad." Dante cried as he closed the phone.

He was noticed a bright light at end of portal. Dante reached the exit point.

-Unknown Location-

He reached the end of portal and suddenly found himself in the air with rain start to hit him from the clouds above.

"What the?" Dante asked Confused.

He quickly looked below him where he was descending toward the ocean along with the church debris. Dante used of his magic to put the cell phone away in his personal magic dimeson where he keeps his other devil arms so the phone wouldn't suffer water damage just in case, he needed it after he recharged it.

*SPLASH*

His body hit the ocean surface and went underwater, but he quickly swam back up.

'Alright, where some land?' Dante observed.

He heard a giant thud despite all the sound coming from the rain and thunder. He quickly looked to find out where that sound was coming from.

He saw an old wooden ship with tentacles swarming it.

"Looks like that my stop" Dante said.

So, he began swimming towards the ship that had a tentacle problem on it.

10 minutes later…

-Unknown Ship-

Dante reached the ship and managed to find a hole on the side, giving him the opportunity to climb in. He looking around the ship interior only to realize how old this ship was. It had no electronics, used candles that somehow conjured up blue flames, and had no shipping labels so Dante couldn't figure out where this ship supposed to go.

Unfortunately, his thoughts had to stop when a demon entered the hole that he entered earlier before.

This demon had skinny body with multiple tentacles surrounding it and a big head. This demon sort of resembled a squid.

Dante pulled out Rebellion and pointed it to the squid-like demon.

"Ikayaki Time." Said Dante

Dante ran up to the squid demon and stabbed the demon right through it's head.

The demon cried in agony and turn into red mist. Then the demon faded away to nothing shortly after that.

'Demons are infesting this ship. I'm going to clear it so I can find out where I am.' Dante thought.

He proceeded to move on to the next room in the ship.

A while later…

Dante was moving room to room. He didn't find anything modern about this ship. He found old cannons, wooden barrels, wooden crates, and a lot of bookshelves. He hasn't found any human survivors, but he did find some human blood which gave him the clue that there maybe someone else alive on this ship. He also found some fresh monster blood on the floor that he knew he didn't slaughter. This was making him feel suspicious that there is likely another demon hunter on this ship.

He found a new demon that took form as a black non-form creature with glowing golden eyes that took a human-like form when he got near them. He sent their heads flying off from their shoulders when he cut them off and pocketed the gold they occasionally dropped.

When he inspected the gold that he monsters dropped, he couldn't tell where there even from.

"Help me." Screamed a voice that was close to him.

Dante stopped his gold inspection and heard the plead for help. Luckily for him, the cry for help was in the next room.

He quickly ran to the door where the cry for help was coming from and kicked it down. He saw a large demon who was covered in spikey armor, had no head, and eyes coming from the chest. Inside the armor that was exposed from the neck looked like flesh, and he holding a piece of cloth that was attached to his spikey helmet.

He pulled Ebony and Ivory and quickly shot the demon to get its attention.

*BANG* *BANG*

The demon turned around and looked at Dante.

"Wow, I definitely know that your queen unknighted you for looking so ugly." Dante said sarcastically.

While the demon did not understand this, he swung his weapon attempting to skewer Dante. Dante jumped in the air, put away his guns, pulled out Rebellion, and split the demon down the middle into two pieces by using the Helm breaker technique.

"Didn't need to even switch styles from Swordmaster." Dante commented.

The knight-like demon started to fade away, although it dropped nothing this time.

"Is it gone?" Dante heard a voice.

"Yes." Dante answered.

A man who under the table crawled out. He had light brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a plain blue shirt, brown pants, and black boots that looked like it came from the 1700's. He got up and went to thank his saviour.

"Thank you, sir for saving me." The man said. "My name is Leon"

"It was no big deal." Dante replied. "But I have some questions that I would like for you answer."

"Ask away." Leon said.

"Where is this ship heading too?" Dante Questioned.

"Arantville." Leon answered.

"What country is that located in?" Dante continue Questioning.

"Great Britain." Leon answered as he started to look at his savior more suspiciously.

'Well I'm half-way across the globe now.' Dante thought.

"What is this ship called?" Dante Asked.

"Galleon Minerva" Leon Answered.

"OK, how did this ship get infested with demons?" Dante asked.

"I don't know, I was just doing my job until these tentacles started covering the ship and monsters were coming left and right." Leon answered.

"If you're a crew member of this ship, then what with those clothes looking like they belong in the industrial revolution?" Dante asked curiously.

"What are you talking about?" Leon Questioned. "These clothes are all what normal people wear, crew member or not. If anyone wearing strange clothes, it's yours."

"Then what year is it?" Dante asked hoping that the man wasn't fully traumatized by the demon and made him lose some of his logic.

"1793." Leon answered.

"I'm sorry, can you repeat that?" Dante asked believing he heard wrong.

"1793." Leon repeated.

Now he realized why this ship had no electricity, used candles as lighting, had a lot of books but not even found a single TV. Hell, he didn't find a single electric outlet.

He went up to a book shelf that was right beside them and pulled out a book that looked like a journal. He flipped to a random page to confirm that he was somewhere stuck in 1700's.

10/23/1783

This wealthy patron of mine started to bring me a lot business. Back when I was a young boy, a lot of rich people would use the Alchemy Guild for anything they needed. But now we are changing everything due to industrialism. When I asked about the client about why he stopped doing business with the Alchemy Guild, he told me that he didn't want to ever speak about them again. He also told me not go to some locations due to demons occupying the land. I didn't really believe him, but I didn't want to upset him since he uses my services quite frequently, so I kept my mouth shut. I am not a religious man by any means, but I'm starting to think that the church or the Alchemy Guild has started to mess with his head. I'll make sure not to get close with any church member or any members of the Alchemy Guild just in case they start messing with my head.

Dante closed the journal and put it back where he found it. The paper in the journal was still in good condition and didn't suffer any degradation. He simply couldn't believe it; he knew that was magic was capable of anything including time travel. But he has never met a demon who could do that. Then the ship started rocking rather violently. He remembered he had a demon to slay. The he should speak to the members of the Alchemy Guild to see if they can send back to his time.

"Leon." Dante said.

"Yeah, was is it?" Leon asked.

"Go find somewhere safe." Dante instructed. "I'm going to get rid of this infestation."

Leon nodded.

Dante left the room and made his way to the Galleon Minerva Main Deck.

-Galleon Minerva Main Deck-

The rear deck wasn't free from demons. Dante encountered more of those squid like demons which he killed them of by using Rebellion Combo I. The squid like demons would rarely drop items like writhing limbs which Dante avoided picked up since he didn't need those. He also encountered a half-bird like demon that used it feathers in attempt to harm him. He dodged them and killed the bird-like demon by shooting bullets from Ebony and Ivory.

Every time he slayed a squid demon. Another one would climb on to the ship.

"There no end to you guys" said Dante. "That would be fine by me if you guys weren't so boring."

Fortunately for him, he found a hole in the main deck and jumped inside it.

-Galleon Minerva Hold-

Dante descended down to the ship hold and proceeded go into various rooms slaying demons along the way. He encountered a Demon-cannon that spit fire from their months in which he split them into two using Stinger. Otherwise, he would encounter and slaughter the same few demons he has encountered earlier before.

Eventually, he finds the hole that lead him to the ship forecastle deck and proceeds to go there.

-Galleon Minerva Forecastle Deck-

Dante lands on the forecastle deck and begins to move towards the ship bow where he can sense the demon who causing the ship to be halted. He was meet with little resistance from the demons who tried to stop to him, but he defeats them effortlessly.

-Galleon Minerva End of Forecastle deck/Ship Bow-

Dante ran towards to the demon who holding the Galleon Minerva. When he got there, he saw a woman who already was fighting the giant sea demon. He couldn't see her front, but her back consisted of a black hair with orangish/blondish tips, a pair of metal horns, a flower tattoo with different colors for the pedals, strange symbols that surrounded the flower tattoo, and other small tattoos that short resembled petals falling off the flower. A dangerously short blue frilly dress that luckily had black shorts right under it. Here right side was covered with a blue sleeve that reached her neck while her left was blue short sleeve that started at her triceps and was covered by a large black glove. Her left leg had same flower tattoo and symbols as the one she had on her back while her right leg only consisted of the pedals of the tattoo. Her foot wear was black combat boots.

The giant sea demon on the other hand had two body halves. The top half resembled a woman from head to chest while the belly resembles a creature with huge teeth and six eyes. The rest of her body was composed in tentacles which she used to cover the ship. She had glowing yellow eyes, a horn-like crystal that protrudes on the right side of her head, and her body is covered with algae and slime.

He can see that woman was struggling to face off against this demon. The woman was mainly attacking the bottom half of the creature with an ordinary looking sword. The sea demon attempted to swat her away by using a tentacle that was coming from behind her, but she jumped over. However, Sea demon then attacked with another tentacle coming forward. The woman who still stuck in the air was about to get swatted by a tentacle coming towards her, but that never happened.

The tentacle was all of sudden was cut off and the demon started to cry in pain.

"ROOOAARRR." The sea demon roared.

The woman landed on the ship and looked to see a man who had white hair and was wearing a lot red. He was holding a huge broadsword in right arm that she didn't believe he can lift so easily. The tentacle that was cut off start to squirm around until it went overboard and started to sink towards to the bottom of the ocean.

"You alright?" Dante asked.

"Yes" The woman answered. "But who are you?"

There conversation was cut short when the bottom half of the demon started fire energy balls from its belly month. Dante used Stinger and got in front the demon belly while going under the energy balls that actually spawned more squid like demon when they landed on the ship. He then started to stab the sea demon repeatedly by using Million Stab. The super fast stabbing caused the sea demon to retreat and go underneath the ship. He turned around to see the woman defeated the two squid like demons that have spawned from the belly mouth of the demon.

She had light blue eyes. Her neck was covered in a blue clothing that seem to extend her right-side sleeve. A piece of black cloth was attached to the neck. sleeve She was wearing a gothic blue dress that had a wide, black over side bust corset attached to it. She had another flower with the symbols surrounding it tattoo that was on her left breast and more tattoos of the same thing on her legs.

The sea demon later reappeared beside trying to attack from the side of the ship. The woman jumps and tries attack the woman like head of the sea demon, but she couldn't jump high enough.

"Let me help with that" Dante said as he went up to her and grabbed her hand.

"Wait, what you doing?" The woman cried.

Unfortunately, she didn't get an answer as Dante threw her up in the air past the sea demon head. She started to falling down and got her sword ready to cut the demon in two. The demon started to spit out jets of water in attempt to harm Dante, but he jumps over them when they close were to him. The woman began to descend towards the demon head and struck it horizontally downward across it face with her sword. The demon cried in pain and now was sporting a huge bloody cut split down the middle of it's face. The woman landed on the ship and the demon retreated under the ship and reappeared in front the bow of the ship. Dante pulled his signature pistols and started firing.

Bullets piercing the sea demon causing more wounds to appear. The woman pulled out her own pistol which looked like a flintlock gun from the 1700's and started firing. The duo put so many bullets into the sea demon that it was literally on the brink of death.

"Ready to do this?" Dante asked.

"Let do it." The woman answered.

As if they were able to telepathically communicate with each other, Dante held up Ebony while the woman held up her pistol and aimed towards the sea demon top eyes.

"Looks it's time for you to hit the bottom of the ocean." Said Dante

"Take this" Said the woman.

They both fired at the same time and pierced the sea demon top eyes. The demon clutches its top eyes before turn into a giant red crystal and breaking into a billion pieces. The rain also stopped too at the same time.

"Well that takes care of that." Dante said.

Dante then noticed a giant shard that came from the Sea Demon and headed straight towards the woman. This shard had ominous power to it. He couldn't tell what it was, but he could tell it wasn't an attack of any kind. The shard stab woman through her body.

"AAAAAHHHHH." The woman screams in pain.

Dante eyes were wide open. He wasn't surprise at the woman scream. He was surprised about how the shard didn't pierced her clothes or cause any wounds. He then noticed that she was absorbing the shard and gaining power from it.

'So, she gains a demon power through shards when she defeats them.' Dante Observed.

After she absorbed the shard. He realized a white ball of light was coming towards him. He knew it was a demon soul. He reached to the demon soul and manifested its devil arm.

The devil arm manifestation was a grappling hook with black chain like cord, a red claw shaped head, and a black handle.

'Looks like I gained the Ophion' Dante thought as he checks his new weapon. 'Let's test you out'.

Smirking, he started to proceed and perform a tirade of moves leaving the woman looking at him in surprise.

"WOO HO HO HO!" Dante shouted.

The woman didn't know how to respond to the showboating he was doing. It was like watching a child getting a new toy.

'Boys will be boys.' The woman thought.

After he was done playing with his new devil arm. She watched him placed near his weapon near his sword. She was shocked when the weapon phased itself into his sword. After that, their eyes meet.

"Who are you?" The woman asked.
