Okay this chapter is a bit shorter, but there's a reason. I promise the next one will be longer I'm just trying to picture in my head where I need everything to go. All I ask is for 2 reviews that's all. Plus either in the next chapter or after it Ariel will be meeting up with her soul mates.
Ariel: I will?
Me: Yes just be patient
Ariel: What if it's not me being impatient, but the readers?
Me: They'll have to tell me then
Ariel: 'turns head towards reader' you heard the woman!
With Joey here we traveled slower, but I am okay with that since it gave us time to get to know each other better. Turns out he's actually 13 like most trainers who first start out on their journeys. He has one older brother who is a Pokemon trainer who started his journey 4 years ago.
I knew that we wouldn't make it to Cerulean City until either tomorrow afternoon or night which is fine. While we walked through the forest Maximus and Luca are with us. Usually I would have all of my Pokemon outside of their Pokeballs, but I knew Dragon would be extremely shy around the overzealous boy. Draco on the other hand would be fine around him until his Charmander comes out due to the fact he is.
It was starting to get late so I suggested we started to set up camp, "Okay Joey I'm gonna go get some fresh water from a river near by along with some extra food to go with the food we'll make."
"Okay what do you want me do while you're gone," he asks me.
I chuckle, "While I'm gone make a fire pit and gather some fire wood. I'll be sure to gather extra wood just incase."
He rubs his head, "Thanks I'm still trying to get use to camping."
"It's nothing to worry about, but if something goes wrong," I reach into my pocket, "use this whistle and one of my Pokemon will come to help you immediately."
"Oh gee thanks I really appreciate this Ariel."
I wink, "No problem kid," flashing him the victory sign. "I'll be back soon so stay out of trouble."
I start walking away from our camp following Maximus who is leading me to the river. On the way I release Draco and Dragon who both greet me warmly with licks and nuzzles to my cheeks. Holding Dragon in my arms as I walk, he the ever curious one moves around my body looking at everything around us.
Draco soars right above me enjoying his freedom to move around and Luca stays next to move; forever my protector. Barking interrupts the peaceful atmosphere and I look in front of me to see Maxi leaping up and down excited at his find. Listening closely I hear rushing water and know that we now have arrived at a river.
"Good job Maxi, "I say petting his head.
Arriving at the edge of the river I take out a bucket and fishing poles. I put Dragon down on the river bed knowing he'll want to swim in the stream of cool water. Luca sits down beside me grabbing one of the fishing poles putting some bait on the hook then doing the same with the other pole.
Draco comes down from his place in the sky taking a drink of the cool water. Then a head pops up right next to his own startlingly him causing him to growl. During this I was currently focused on catching us some dinner when I hear him growl.
Looking towards him I follow his line of sight to see a Seal floating above the surface of the river. My eyes widen at the rare sight, at least in land in a river instead of the ocean. Seel aren't known to be in rivers they're home in the oceans and seas because of the abundance of food needed. They live in the safety of pods; groups of Seels and Dewgongs living freely on beds of coral and rocks to have easy access to the oceans.
'Why is this Seal out here all on its own?'
The poor thing look so tired and weak probably due to the poor amount of food to feed off of. Slowly as not to startle the Seel I move towards it and now that I'm closer I'm able to see Seels a male due to the larger horn on his head.
Seel looks towards me whining and sinking further into the shallow water.
"Hey little guy, it's okay I'm not gonna hurt you I just want to help," I say softly.
Dragon then appears beside the Seel cooing softly in comfort to the little one. Seel talks back to my Dratini starting to relax with the presence of my smallest Pokemon. I decide to enter into the river so I take off my jacket and pants putting on a pair of shorts and putting my hair into a bun.
Dripping my foot into the water it's cold, but not to bad so I walk into the water. The river is shallower than I thought it would be I went to where it's deepest that only reaches to my waste. Dragon immediately swims over to me looking over to the Seel he's slowly coming towards me obviously very scared and shy.
I smile softly, "It's alright little guy there's no need to be shy," I lower myself further into the water just above my head. "I'll wait for you to come to me."
This Seel must have been through something awful cause usually Seel are very playful Pokemon and very friendly towards humans. Looking back toward the shore my other three Pokemon just watch me as I swim with Dragon and try to get Seel to warm up to me.
"Draco I want you to go back to camp with the extra fire wood and bucket of water, Luca take those Goldeen to camp also and Maximus you stay here with me." All three nod and two of my Pokemon leave while the one stays.
As I swim Dragon plays with me then splashes my face.
"Why you little.. I'll show you I'm the splashing master," I pose goofy, pretending to flick imaginary hair over my shoulder.
"Dri, dri!" Dragon replies back almost as if saying 'Yea right'.
We begin to play , splashing each other careful not to be too rowdy. As I take a swig of water into my mouth ready to shoot it towards Dragon I get splashed in the face my hair becoming wet into the process. My bangs cover my eyes, I spit out the water in my mouth slowly. Hearing the laughter and clapping moving both hands I move my hair from my eyes to see a now playful Seel.
I smile realizing Seel is the one that splashed me just now, "Oh.. so that's how you wanna play." I refill my mouth with water shooting Seel with it, "Two can play at that game!"
Our laughter echoes through the forest as we all play even Maximus played with us using his paws to splash us from the shore. It soon became dark and I knew I had to get out of the water because my shivering cold body needed to get warm. I got out of the river, grabbing the towel from my bag and packed up the fishing poles.
Dragon got out of the water too and climbed on Maximus' back falling asleep. I turned back to the river seeing Seel looking sad that I looked to be leaving him and we would be all alone again.
I have other plans, "Seel why don't you come with me?"
He perks up at my question, at the idea of no longer being alone. He nods his head clapping, "Seel, seel. Seel, Seel, seel!"
"Welcome to the family then Seel." I toss an empty Pokeball, it taps Seel on the head and Seel is absorbed into the Pokeball. The ball flashes and shakes then on the third time the whole orb flashes stopping movement.
I retrieve the Pokeball jumping into the air, "I got a new Pokemon!"
"Growl, Growlithe!"
We head back towards camp making it back to see a fire lit with the Goldeen cooked along with some vegetables. Luca is leaning against a tree, arms crossed with his eyes closed waiting for me and Draco is sitting near the fire just staring into the flames. Joey is reading a book close to the fire so he is able to see in the dark able to read the words.
"I'm back everyone."
All eyes turn towards me with growls and barks of greeting. Joey closed his book smiling towards me then looks at me questionably.
"Hey Ariel I was beginning to get worried, but now I can't help questioning. Why are you all wet?"
I giggle covering my mouth, "Oh nothing just helping out a new friend."
"Um," now he looked really curious, "What new friend?"
"You'll see…" I say mysteriously.
I take out an inflatable pool, sitting next to Draco and start blowing air into it. 'Thank you Jacob for being so over the top with packing my bag.' Draco takes the plastic pool from my hands blowing his powerful breath into the inflatable. He is careful not to blow his breath too hot which is something I had trained him to do and believe me it wasn't easy.
The inflatable pool is not filled with air thanks to Draco's powerful lungs I then go to Maximus who is cuddling with Dragon.
I gently pick up Dragon, "Dragon I need you to use Water Gun to fill up this pool for me and our new friend."
He nods his head blasting a powerful Water Gun into the pool filling it just a few inches from the top. Joey looks at Dragon with his mouth hanging open, eyes almost popping from his skull from shock at the sight of the very rare Pokemon in my arms.
"You have a Dratini!?" exclaims Joey rushing over to my side to look at Dragon. "I've never seen one in person only in books and even in those books there is still so little research on them."
Dragon shy's away from Joey nervous at the appearance of the strange boy, "It's okay Dragon this boy is a friend his name's Joey." I pet him soothingly on his head to help him not be so nervous and shy.
Joey lowers his voice, "Hello Dragon I'm Joey nice to meet you," he says with a smile.
Dragon coos then crawls from my arms onto Joey's shoulder giving Joey a smile and cooing in greeting. It's good for Dragon to become comfortable with Joey since he'll be traveling with us from now on. Now I needed to let Seel out of its Pokeball so I can look over him.
I look over to Joey, "If you want let your Pokemon out of their Pokeballs so they can eat and play. I need to check on my new Pokemon so while I'm doing that ca you feed the others?"
He nods, "Yea sure I don't mind, but what new Pokemon are you talking about. You told me you only gave four Pokemon."
I laugh, "While at the river I actually caught another Pokemon."
"Wow you're good."
I just laugh again reaching for the Pokeball of my new Pokemon. I toss the ball into the air and out comes Seel looking happy to see me.
"Seel, seel, seel."
I bend down at the knees, "I see your much happier now that you're here with us Seel," gently petting his head careful of his sharp horn.
"Oh wow, you caught a Seel those are not very commonly seen inland there more commonly seen in the ocean."
"I know I think something happened and he was separated from his pod."
I grab a potion from my bag along with some of the Goldeen that still hasn't been cooked. Taking small pieces of the fish I feed it to Seel who takes it and chews enjoying his meal. Every time he finishes the piece I've given him I feed him another till it's gone. I then spray the potion on the few scratches that he has healing him.
Now he looked much better with the wounds healing and a full belly. I start to think of what to name him, but I just couldn't think of anything until I look at the water Seel is swimming in.
"Seel who do you feel about a new name?"
Seel tilts his head curiously wondering what I meant by new name.
"A name is something that I call you that makes you unique," I say pointing my finger upwards, "like how I've named all my other Pokemon."
Seel then nods with a smile understanding exactly what I meant.
"Alright, how about Atlantic. To represent the one of oceans you once called home."
Atlantic leaps into the air obviously happy with my choice of his new name. Seeing him happy makes me so happy especially with how harsh he must have had it being all alone for two know all long. Seel are such social and family oriented Pokemon so for being alone and separated from his pod had been horrible for him.
Flashes go through the air and I look over to see Joey releasing his Pokemon. Of course, his Charmander immediately goes to Draco rubbing up against his leg while he roles his eyes. Joey's other two Pokemon were an Oddish and a Kakuna.
As the Pokemon enjoyed their meals Joey and I ate ours talking about the plan for tomorrow. We decided to fly on Draco since he would have no trouble carrying us and it would get us to Cerulean City quicker. After finishing dinner we cleaned up and went to bed so we could leave early in the morning.
Flying to Cerulean City had been a great idea instead of walking. We weren't going as fast as we normally did due to the extra weight, but Draco didn't seem to mind. Deciding to go straight to the Cerulean Gym so I could have my battle Draco landed close to the entrance as he could.
I returned Draco to his Pokeball once we landed then walked into the gym Joey following beside me. I am very impressed by the design of the gym and how not only was it the gym, but an aquarium as well. Looking around I finally see a group of young girls clustered together talking and giggling about something.
"Excuse me," I interrupt politely and the three look to me, "I was wondering if you could help me find the Gym Leader?"
"You're like, totally looking at them," says the bluenette.
"We're known at the Sensational Sisters," all pose as if for a picture.
'Okay… these girls talk really weird and preppy.'
"Are you like, here to challenge us for your badge," says the blonde.
I nod, "Yes, that's what I'm here for."
"Alright, we like, totally accept your challenge. I'm Daisy," voiced the blonde, "this is my sister Violet, "pointing to the bluenette, "and this is Lily my other sister," indicating to the pinkette.
"It's nice to meet all of you my name's Ariel Shirona and this is my friend Joey Wilder," He pointing to myself then Joey.
The oldest sister Daisy looks at me narrowing her eyes, "Your last name sounds very familiar have I like, maybe met a sibling of yours?"
I start t sweat nervously, 'Please don't recognize it. Please, oh please.' I would be kneeling down praying and begging to God if alone.
"What no, no. No siblings," I rub my neck laughing nervously, "I mean I have siblings, but I don't think it's possible you've met them. Anyway," trying to deflect away from the subject of my siblings, "shouldn't we have that Pokemon battle I've been waiting for? Yeah, okay."
As I walked off I never noticed the looks shared between Joey and the sisters.
I stood on a platform on the battle field which is a pool. There is one piece of land in the water I could use for my Pokemon to land on, but I knew who I had to rely on for this battle.
"This'll be a two on two battle you will be able to trade out Pokemon during the match. Whoever's Pokemon are all unable to battle will be the winner," announces the judge, "trainers ready?"
Daisy and I nod.
"Let the battle begin."
"Starmie, I choose you."
I sigh feeling just a tad nervous about using him, but he really is my best choice.
"Dragon, it's time for battle."
Dragon appears in the water looking determined. In all honesty I've never battled with Dragon. I mean sure I've practiced with him on moves however I never battled with against my brothers or sister afraid for my little baby.
"Awwww isn't he like, the cutest thing!" Daisy shouts with hearts in eyes looking at my little Dratini.
"Yes, he is, but he's not only cute he's powerful too. Dragon use Thunderwave!"
An electrical wave travels across the field hitting Starmie shocking it with static causing it to be paralysed.
"Oh no, Starmie! Try to shake it off!"
However due to Starmie being not only a Water Pokemon, but also in the water the whole thing became an electrical pool.
"Dragon finish Starmie off with Dragon Rage," I command.
Dragon charges his attack then fires, hitting Starmie and making it fly into the behind it's trainer.
"Starmie is unable to battle, Dratini wins," announces the judge.
"Woooh! Go, Ariel," shouted out Joey from the sidelines.
Daisy returns Starmie then turns to me, "I gotta say Ariel I'm like, totally impressed with your Dratini."
"Thank you, Daisy."
"Well I'm totally like, not going to lose this one. Cloyster come on out!"
Now I am I starting to get worried, but I know Dragon will be fine.
"Cloyster start with Leer."
Cloyster's Leer makes Dragon flinch back his defense lessening.
"Dragon Agility then attack with Dragon Tail."
"Don't let Dratini close Cloyster use Whirlpool," its eyes glow then the water begin swirling going faster, faster and catching Dragon in its fast waters. "Now use Ice Beam, Cloyster."
This is bad. Dragon cries out unable to avoid the beam of ice. I had to take him out of the battle.
I grab his Pokeball, "Return, Dragon!"
I catch him and he returns back to his Pokeball and I tell him he's done a great job and to now have a rest. I close my eyes taking a Pokeball from my belt and look at it. I swear it almost felt like he was calling to me to use him and I wasn't going to ignore it.
I look up to Daisy, "I'm afraid Daisy this will be the end." She looks at me curiously and I release him, "Draco, finish what Dragon started!"
In a flash appears my giant Charizard roaring, glaring at the Cloyster in anger. I folded my arms my eyes narrowed just as his and we became one fierce aura.
Draco takes to the air, "Blast Burn."
Shock covers Daisy's face, "Cloyster, Iron Defense quick," she shouts out in panic. Cloyster's shell immediately closes shining a quick bright silver light that disappears once done.
Simple and to the point Draco does as command. His entire form covers in fire, his mouth alighting with a blast of a brighter flame that fires from his mouth hitting Cloysters closed shell. Smoke fills the air and Daisy shout follows calling out for her Pokemon.
I stand still as stone not flinching an inch. I knew what the ending result would be as the filled battle field cleared with he help of Draco's powerful wings.
"Cloyster is unable to battle. Charizard wins, the winner of the match is challenger Ariel Shirona from Pallet Town."
Draco flies over to my side, nuzzling my cheek and I smile nuzzling him back holding his face gently to mine. I begin to walk away from the battlefield to the sidelines to meet up with Joey and the sisters to receive my badge. Draco walks behind me not wanting to go back into his Pokeball.
As I walked past the stands I never noticed the person sitting in the shadows with a Sceptile and Aagron by their side watching my every move.
I smile at Daisy shaking her hand, "You're like, totally awesome trainer and you're Charizard it's totes like, amazing!"
Dracos chest puffs up at her praise, "Careful there, Daisy. You just might make his ego even bigger than it already is," I say giggling when Draco growls playfully bumping his nose into the back of my head.
"No for reals, you two go a totally awe inspiring bond," Violet says to me.
Joey nods his head in agreement, "She's got you there Ariel."
"You really deserve this Ariel," states Daisy holding out her hand with the Cascade Badge, "I present you with the Cascade Badge proof of your like, awesome win."
I take the Cascade Badge in hand showing it to Draco who purrs happy at the achievement we achieved together with Dragon.
"Thank you Daisy and maybe when I'm on my way back 'll stop by for a show."
"You like, totally should!" Lily exclaims and then she and her sisters walk off while Joey and I leave the Cerulean Gym.
Just as we are walking out the doors a stranger with there face covered with a pare of sunglasses and a beard appears before us blocking our path. By his side's were a Sceptile and Aagron calmly watching us as they stood beside there trainer.
"Excuse me, but could you please move you're blocking our path," I ask politely though on edge which makes Draco growl.
"Come now little sister don't you recognize your beloved brother?"
I stare. 'The last time I saw Samuel he didn't have a beard and there's no way it's… No, no, no, no please not him.'
My eyes widen and the now familiar man smirks, "Hello little Chic," he removes his sunglasses revealing those mocking blue eyes, "miss me?"
