Complete darkness. Nothing but the pitch-black. Where was I? Why was I here? I had no clue.
A spotlight flickered on from somewhere above, illuminating a stage in front of me. A white dog, K.K. Slider, my idol, sat on a stool, playing his guitar.
"Hey there," he called out. I assumed he was talking to me, as there was no one else around. "I heard you're going camping."
"Y-Yeah..."
"Mind if I ask you something? Let's assume you got to your campsite right now. You get all set up, ready for the world to be yours... What would you do first?"
I wasn't expecting that kind of question. "Uh, well... This past week has been so crazy... I'd probably want to just chill out for a bit."
"You and me both, kid." He looked into the darkness for a brief moment. "Just a little bit longer for you. Maybe our paths will cross again someday... Take care, kiddo."
He started fading into a sudden blinding light. "Wait!" I called out. It was too late. He had vanished into the light, and I had started to wake up.
"Ughhh... that dream again..." Ever since I got on the road, I've been having dreams pressuring me about my camping trip. Now K.K. is doing it too? My idol bothering me about my vacation, yeah, that helped a lot.
I brushed my long, red hair out of my face as I made my way towards the driver seat of my camper. "Just a little bit longer until I reach the campsite," I moaned, steering out of the rest stop's parking lot. "This gal is ready for a nice, old-fashioned outdoor vacation."
I spent about a half hour on the road until I came across a very decorative sign. It read, "Pocket Camp - Campsite Ahead, Turn Right". I followed the sign's instructions and turned onto the rocky dirt trail leading into the forest ahead.
I parked the camper near a big brown "Campground" sign and stepped out. I couldn't help but marvel at the sheer beauty of it all. Trees stretched as far as the eye could see. A clean lake shimmered in the midday light nearby. The patch of grass ahead promised a beautiful spot for picnics and cloud-watching. It was all just a pure spectacle to behold. "What a spot!" I exclaimed. "This is going to be an amazing trip!"
I glanced back to the signpost and noticed someone, looking like she were waiting impatiently for... something. She was a pretty yellow dog with a formal yet playful green dress on. She seemed like the one I had to see to check in, so I approached her.
"Hello..." I said, walking up behind her.
She greeted me with a friendly smile. "Oh, hello! You must be the new camp manager!"
"Uh... excuse me? Camp manager?" I asked. "There must be some mistake, I was just-"
"There is no mistake... You are Miss Charlotte, is that right?"
"Y-Yeah..."
"Excellent. Welcome to the campsite, new camp manager! It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Charlotte!"
I awkwardly said, "Thanks... but, uh... about the camp manager thing?"
"You see, this campsite needs a new manager to keep it nice and fun... That's where you come in! By the way, you don't have a problem with other campers, do you?"
Other campers? Was she being serious? She didn't seem to be joking. With a sigh, I replied, "No, it's fine..."
"Are you sure? You don't sound pleased..."
"I'm fine with it, I'm sure."
"Very well. Everything seems to be order. Welcome to your new campsite, Miss Charlotte!"
I shyly mumbled, "You can just call me Charlie..."
"Okay, Miss Charlie!" She winked at me. "My name's Isabelle. I'll be helping you start up your campsite!"
"Thanks," I replied. I looked behind her. "It looks a bit empty, though."
"Exactly. As camp manager, your job is to set up amenities and furniture however you like!"
"Oh, cool," I muttered. I was confused why there would be furniture in campgrounds, but I just let it slide.
"Now there's one last thing before I leave you to it..." she told me. "Oh, where did I put it...?" She bent down, looking around for something. I could actually see under her dress. I tried ignoring it, but I couldn't help noticing something a bit peculiar.
Her underwear was very thick and white... not only that, but I swore I could hear it... crinkling. I couldn't help but wonder... Was she wearing... a diaper? No, it couldn't be... Could it?
