Deku: Weapon X

Izuku Midoriya sat in the doctor's office devastated. His hopes and dreams completely shattered by the professional that sat in an office chair across from his mother and him. "You really think there's something wrong?" His mother Inko Midoriya asked the doctor while placing a hand on her heart broken sons back. "I'm afraid so Mrs. Midoriya, your son is quirkless" Izuku couldn't hold back his tears as he silently sobbed by his mother who had started rubbing his back to comfort him.

"If he had a quirk it would've already manifested itself by now" the doctor continued. "Isn't there a chance that he's just a late bloomer? Although rare they aren't unheard of" Inko asked hoping with all her heart that her son wouldn't have to deal with the hard ships she knew quirkless individuals had to face in todays world. Such as bullying, which her son's kindergarten teacher informed her a week ago has already begun. "If you look over here at your son's x-ray you can see that your son has two joints in his pinky, something that people with quirks don't have. I'm sorry Mrs. Midoriya but your son will never develop a quirk naturally."

The doctor's finished keeping his voice neutral, seemingly uncaring to the family's plight. "D-D-does this m-mean I c-c-can't be a h-ero?" Izuku said quietly looking up at his mother tears falling out the four-year-old's eyes, Inko looked down at her son and felt her heart shatter. She knew how much Izuku wanted to be a hero and now her baby will never be able to live out his dream. "I'm so sorry baby" Inko started to cry as she pulled her son into a tight hug. Both unaware of the shift in the doctor's face.

"Now hold on, I told you he wouldn't be able to develop a quirk naturally. But quirk research as come a long way and the scientists over on I-island believe they have figured out a way to give quirkless youth, such as your son, quirks." The mother and son both looked at the doctor with wide eyes. "So, there's a possibility that Izuku can gain a quirk?" Hope filled the young mother, 'my baby can live a normal life' she thought. Izuku was practically jumping up and down beside her 'I CAN BE A HERO, JUST LIKE ALL MIGHT' he screamed in his head.

"Well this program is very new; they've just started looking for applicants in fact. I can't speak to the success rate of the program but from what I've seen from their trials on animals…it looks promising. There is an interview process, but if Izuku manages to pass that and gets accepted into the program then his room and board will all be paid for on the island" The doctor explained to them. "Wait he has to go to the island for the program? What about school?" Inko grew worried 'while getting a quirk is very important for Izuku's future I can't just pull him out of school. Who knows how long this program would even take!'

"Don't worry Mrs. Midoriya, Izuku's schooling will be taken care of while on the island. There's no need to worry about that." Now reassured that Izuku's education wouldn't suffer she looked down at her son, who was still jumping up in down in his seat with excitement. "Well if that's the case then I'd say that we would love to be considered for this new program. How can we get in touch with someone to apply? Is there a website or a number I have to call?" Inko said with a small smile as he son was practically beaming up at her.

"Oh no nothing like that, you see this project is being kept secret from the general public at the moment. At least until results start coming in. But don't worry I'll be able to send in your information along with my recommendation. I'd expect to hear from the people over there in a week or two to set up the interview." "Well thank you doctor; we really appreciate you doing this for us. You have no idea how much this means for Izuku, he's wanted to be a hero and you're giving him the chance to live out his dream I don't know how I'll ever repay you" Inko said as she stood up form her seat bowing deeply. Who replied while putting a hand up in front of him "oh there's no need to repay me Mrs. Midoriya if this program is successful then it could change the world, I'm glad to help out with that anyway I can. Plus, I'm sure that Izuku is capable of great things he's really going to make a difference."

Izuku got up from his chair and bowed to the doctor his smile still present on his young face "thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouTHANKYOU" he repeated, causing the doctor to let out a small laugh. "As I said you have nothing to thank me for young man. Don't worry I'll send all your information to the people at project X as soon as possible. I'm sure you'll have a quirk before the year is up and that you'll be a great hero."

As Inko and Izuku left his office the doctor pulled his phone out of his pocket, punching a number in before putting the phone up against his ear "I've found one" he said as he smiled. Though his smile wasn't the same one he shared with the young family that was in his office just moments ago. This smile was dark and twisted with greed. Young Izuku didn't know it then but from that the next for years would be nothing but hell and would change the young man forever.
