Maddie and Chim had invited Buck over for dinner, which of course really meant they had invited Buck and Eddie. They were sitting around laughing and sipping on alcohol when Maddie's phone buzzed. When she glanced at the screen her face changed slightly, but enough for everyone to notice.

"What is it, Maddie?" Chim asked as Buck and Eddie looked up at her too.

"Um." She looked at Buck. "Our parents are coming to visit." As Maddie had said before, their parents weren't bad people. They just didn't often didn't get along.

"When? I'll need to pretend to be busy." Buck said half jokingly.

Eddie picked up on Buck's tone and the way his body had shifted as soon as Maddie mentioned their parents. Something was up with him. "Family drama?" He asked with a little smirk, hoping to lighten the mood.

"Something like that." Was all Buck answered. "Well, it's getting late. I think I'm going to head out." He said standing up.

"Buck…" Maddie started to say.

"You want me to come with you?" Eddie instinctively asked, starting to stand.

"No, no. Stay. Have fun. I'm just going to go to bed anyway. Have a good night everyone." Buck gave a little half wave before heading out.

Maddie looked sadly after her brother as Chim and Eddie had looks of confusion on their faces.

Eddie pulled out his phone and sent Buck a text.

'You okay?'

'Just tired.'

'Not sure I believe you. I can come over and we can talk.'

'No, really I'm fine. Have fun.'

'I know you better than this.'

Fifteen minutes passed with no reply and Eddie was still looking at his phone. He hadn't even realized Maddie and Chim were now in the kitchen talking softly. He walked into the kitchen.

"So, can I ask what that was all about?" Eddie looked at Maddie, who then looked at Chimney.

"Buck and our parents have never really seen eye to eye." Maddie answered vaguely.

"Care to elaborate?" He knew there was more to the story. Buck didn't just shut him out over nothing.

Maddie sighed. "Our parents were ones to be very hands on. The only time they really said more than five words to us at a time was when they didn't approve of something we were doing. I was able to hide things from them more than Buck was." She bit her lip. Would Buck want her to be telling him all this? "Things got worse between Buck and our parents when he was in high school. He was dating someone our parents didn't approve of and they were really hard on him. They made him end things."

"Damn, how bad could she have been?" Eddie questioned.

Maddie glanced at Chim, who she had shared some of this with in previous conversations that Buck didn't know a lot of course. She sighed. "His name was Patrick."

"Oh." Eddie didn't know how to respond by this news. It wasn't something Buck had ever talked about, but then again Buck wasn't one to talk about his past.

"Don't tell him I told you." Maddie said giving Eddie an almost knowing look.

Eddie nodded. "Thanks for the invite. I'm going to head out too."

Maddie and Chimney looked at each other after Eddie left.

"Maybe we should keep Eddie away from your parents." Chim said, knowing how hot tempered Eddie could be, especially when it came to Buck.

"Yeah." Maddie agreed.
