Hello, people. I have been feeling a little off in the inspiration department lately, so I decided to write a one shot to see if it will get my creativity flowing. This is not meant to be at a specific point in the series. It could honestly be at any time, really. I just wrote it for fun.

Disclaimer: I do not own Bleach (and I also don't drink it). Bleach belongs to Tite Kubo.

It was a fine spring day in the Seireitei. The birds were chirping a friendly song to their brethren, a clean breeze blew gently through the streets, ruffling the hair of any who happen to be out to enjoy the pleasant weather.

There wasn't a single rain cloud in the sky, the sky was an intense shade of blue, and the blooming flowers brought a splash of color to the otherwise whitewashed Seireitei.

Ukitake, for one, was having a wonderful day. His illness hadn't acted up yet today, meaning he was able to get his paperwork done quickly and had the chance to enjoy himself for the rest of the day. His subordinates were all training hard, and he had been able to take a rather lovely walk through the streets of Seireitei with Kyouraku without coughing up half his lungs!

All in all, it was a great day for the ill captain of the 13th squad.

Unfortunately, it seemed that wasn't the case for everyone.

It was approximately one in the afternoon when Ukitake heard it. He almost didn't notice it because it was such a common sound that it's almost become background noise. If the day itself hadn't been so quiet, he likely would have missed it and simply considered it to be nothing.

"MATSUMOTO!"

Then silence.

"Toshiro's voice really carries, doesn't it?" the older white-haired captain comments as he takes a sip of tea, "I wonder that happened this time."

Maybe Matsumoto had spilled sake on his paperwork again? Maybe she'd taken a three hour nap and shirked her own work? Oh! Perhaps she'd gone out last night and gotten drunk and Toshiro had just found her passed out with a hangover!

It could honestly be anything with how easily Toshiro got irritated at his lieutenant and how easily Matsumoto irritated the young captain. It was one of those double negatives that most certainly did not make a positive.

Math wasn't always accurate it seems, the man mused. He took another sip of tea. Perhaps he'll send the younger captain some candy.

BANG!

Ukitake looked up calmy as the door to his office violently slid open to reveal a frazzled, well-endowed, strawberry blonde woman.

"If Captain asks, I wasn't here." she says before she dives into Ukitake's storage cabinet.

Ukitake takes another sip of tea.

A moment later, Captain Hitsugaya shunpos in and looks to Ukitake calmly.

Well... not really calmly, more like he was so infuriated that his range of expressions couldn't even form an appropriate face to match his anger. He was leaking reiatsu to the point Ukitake's desk was already frosting over despite the younger captain standing three meters away.

Ukitake calmly looked to the young man. Ah, so that's why he's angry.

There was hot pink glitter in the young captain's hair and on his clothes, like a bucket of the stuff had been dropped on him from above. It must have been a prank. Ukitake wondered if Toshiro had even been the intended target of the prank in the first place, or if he was just an unplanned victim.

Whichever it was, Ukitake decided he'd rather not know, "Is there something you need, Captain Hitsugaya?" he asked politely, taking another sip of tea. Hm, his drink was cold, now. A shame.

"Where. Is. She?" the currently rather dazzling captain ground out. His eyebrow was twitching.

"I'm afraid you will need to be more specific."

"Matsumoto."

"Ah." Ukitake sounded out, as if surprised, "I do believe I saw her go that way," he gestures out and to the left, "though, I wasn't paying much attention, so I'm afraid it might not be very accurate."

"Thank you, Captain Ukitake." the younger of the two bowed before he took off to search for his misbehaving lieutenant, shedding some glitter as he did so.

Ukitake should probably get someone to clean that up. He called Kiyone and asked if she'd be so kind, explaining the situation: Captain Hitsugaya was pranked by Matsumoto and had tracked her down to their division. Thankfully, the young woman was understanding of it and the floor was quickly cleaned of pink sparkles before Ukitake was, supposedly, left to his own devices again.

"I believe it's safe to come out, now." he calmly states as he takes a sip of his, now refilled, tea.

Matsumoto came out of the closet, looked around, and sighed. She sent the man a charming smile, "Thank you~!" and shunpoed out of the office.

Another sip.

Just another day in Seireitei, it seems.

I hope you guys liked it, even if it's pretty short and, honestly, hastily written. I always liked Ukitake. I'm not sure exactly why, but he's a cool guy. He's someone who I would probably like being friends with. I wanted to try writing from his perspective, and this is the result.
