A/N Hi everyone. You read the summary. You know what this is about. Great, let's jump right in!
Narrator POV
A decision.
The one thing that everything comes down to.
A measly decision.
A decision that would not only decide the course of Percy's life but the lives of the 7 billion idiot homosapiens squeezed on this tiny planet we call Earth.
And who was to make this decision?
One measly person.
A person named Perseus Jackson.
If you had told Percy that this was the decision he would have to make a month, week, or even a day ago he would have laughed in your face and chastised you for such a stupid idea.
But now, this wasn't just some stupid idea that someone could have conjured up... this was a reality.
And Percy didn't know what to do.
To give the knife or not to give the knife, that was the question.
Of course, Percy's stupid seaweed-filled brain thought it was a great time to think back to Mr. Blofis's classes about William Shakespeare's, "Tragedy of Hamlet". Percy vividly remembered thinking that he would have given anything to be anywhere else other than that gods-forsaken classroom. But now, he just wanted to be back in that gods-forsaken classroom.
Shaking his head, Percy brought his focus back to the subject at hand. He couldn't afford to focus on the "I wish"s and the "what if"s in his life. The only things he can focus on is the "what do I do"s.
And he had absolutely no idea what to do.
"Please Percy. Hand me the knife!" Luke's desperate voice sliced through his thoughts, looking up at Percy from where he was kneeling in front of him. "We don't have much time! Kronos gets to his full power in about 1 minute! Please! His weak point is in his hand -the left one- but he will expect you to stab him! You will lose the element of surprise. But if I stabbed him, I can succeed. Please". Desperation rang in his voice, building up and up with each muttered syllable. And Percy was conflicted. Percy didn't know if he should trust the dude, even with the amount of genuity in his voice. Not to mention, what he said did make sense.
Percy looked towards his friends, crowded behind him. Thalia and Grover were conflicted, apprehension and confusion flickering across their faces. But Annabeth had neither expression. One look at her face, and Percy could tell that she believed him. That she believed every word tumbling out of his mouth.
And that was enough confirmation for Percy.
So, without a second thought, Percy threw the measly dagger into the air, watching it as it flew towards Luke's outstretched hand, meeting the dubbed target as he circled his fingers around the bronze blade.
And that's when he felt it.
Felt it in his gut.
Dread.
Pure putrid dread.
Percy knew something bad was going to happen, he could feel it.
But he knew couldn't stop it.
It was like poison, this dread. It would start at his gut, spreading towards his arms and legs before his whole body was consumed by it.
And he couldn't stop it.
But he could try to.
Percy lunged forward as he saw the sky blue of Luke's eyes slowly morph into a golden color.
He grabbed Riptide from Hestia's hearth from where Kronos had thrown it about ten minutes ago.
Percy uncapped the sword as Kronos took a step forward, raising Annabeth's dagger.
Kronos's eyes locked on Percy's back.
Percy's eyes locked on Kronos's hand.
And they stabbed...
You know those times when you're playing a game and your so focused on winning that you forget to stop your opponent from winning?
Well, that was exactly what happened.
Percy and Kronos had stabbed each other at the same time.
And they had both won.
But they had both lost.
