Chapter 1

-4/9 – Saturday-

Things in Naruto's life have never been smooth or simple.

It's been like this since his parents had died shortly after he was born, his father's former student bursting into the house and attacking both of them. His mom died shielding him from the man's attacks before his father died taking out the attacker.

Since then he's been moderately looked after by his godmother and godfather in shifts until his god mother couldn't handle it and left it all up to his godfather. His god father though wasn't really a parental figure given he was mainly out of the house for the most part, leaving him to his own devices.

It was a rather difficult childhood without any real parent figures but he handled it in his own way, acting out and rebelling for attention which more often than not resulted in him getting in trouble.

Of course as he grew older he was careful not to get caught given he was more prone to get in serious trouble if he was. For the most part he stuck to pranks that caused chaos.

He also liked to think of himself as someone who wouldn't stand by and watch as someone got harassed, although him doing just that was now the cause for his current situation.

It all started when he saw a woman crying out for help as a man grabbed at her, trying to pull her back into his car. All he did was pull the man back away from the woman but the man, after trying to take a swing at him, had fallen down due to how drunk he was and hit his head.

He wasn't sure how or why but he had ended up being the one arrested and sued by the man, resulting in him being arrested for assault despite the man's actions. He had wanted to speak out how the man had some control over the cops, them having called him sir and acted nervously around him while they followed his orders but considering that the control he had control over them he doubted it would get him anywhere.

Now because of it he was on a train headed towards Tokyo as after everything he had been expelled from his school and Shujin Academy, a school in the area that his godfather had found out, was the only one willing to accept him despite him being on probation.

It didn't surprise him that Jiraiya had shipped him off to a friend of his given Jiraiya almost seemed to jump at any opportunity to not be around. Though at least this time it seemed Jiraiya was worried for him as he hadn't been his smirking self when he did send him off, he just set up things, gave him a letter to give to his friend, and even surprised him by giving him a hug.

He couldn't help but sigh as he ran his hand through his red spikey hair that went out in every direction, fixing the spikey bangs that framed his face while his blue eyes flatly and tiredly looking up at the ceiling of train car he sat in on his way to Shibuya as he'd be living in that part of Tokyo for the next year.

The new outfit he had to change into felt weird as Jiraiya had made him change into Shujin Academy's uniform before leaving as he had mailed everything else of his up to the place he'd be living. The outfit didn't look bad as it was a buttoned up black blazer with red buttons that had the school's logo on the breast pocket, a white turtleneck that had two marks on the collar to show he was a second year, a pair of black and red plaid pants, and a pair of black shoes to finish it off.

He also had been given a pair of non-prescriptive black framed glasses by Jiraiya as he had claimed they would help 'make him look unassuming' so he didn't draw much attention.

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for riding with us today" a woman on the intercom started to say as it turned on. "We will be arriving in Shibuya shortly. This is the last stop for this line. Please transfer here for all subway lines. The doors to your left will open" she added before he leaned back in his seat and frowned a bit.

"Are you for real? A mental shutdown?" a girl asked as he looked up to see two high school girls talking across from him near the door.

"It's the truth!" the other insisted as her friend still looked unbelieving.

"To a person though? That's gotta be a joke" she said in a skeptical tone before she shook her head with a smile. "You really love all that occult stuff don't you?" she asked as the two of them laughed making Naruto wonder what they were talking about as it sounded familiar as if he's heard it on the news before.

Though before he could think more on it he noticed they were quickly pulling into the station.

As he got off the train, off to find the train that would transfer him to Yongen-Jaya, bag on his shoulder, he was a bit taken back by the amount of people walking around on the main streets of Shibuya. Thankfully he had gotten a map to where he needed to go already prepared on his phone as he made his way over to where he needed to go.

'What is this?' he thought confused as he heard the chime of an app before noticing that one had popped up over his map. The logo of it was red and black with an odd eye with a star pupil. He was even more confused as it seemingly activated and grew to cover his entire screen.

'Okay I know I cannot have a virus on this thing so what the hell is this thing?' he thought with a frown as he tapped his screen only to find it unresponsive.

He quickly noticed something was off as the noisy streets were going silent and as he looked up he found everybody starting to slow down and freeze in place. He was a bit worried as he looked around until a pillar of dark red fire burst up in the distance.

Unmoving as the fire grew, he watched before it seemingly took on the shape of a large human shaped figure before a pair of massive bat shaped wings shot out behind him at its waist level. He knew he should be freaking out or questioning his sanity but right now he was calm, as if the figure made of fire was a friend and was not a danger to him.

He swore the image of him smirking with golden eyes flashed in his head before he seemingly snapped out of it and the people of Shibuya had started to move and talk around him again. As he looked around he shook his head, getting the weird scene to leave it before he found his phone responsive which allowed him to move the new app down into the trash can.

'Probably a weird virus, I'll check to see if it messed anything up later as right now I can't miss my train' he thought with a frown as he quickly hurried towards the Yongen-Jaya line.

This train ride didn't last nearly as long as the first as he found himself stepping off the train and into the station. Looking back down at his phone he continued to follow the map until he reached the backstreets of a residential area.

'Okay Sojiro's house should be around here somewhere but these streets are a bit of a mess' he thought with a frown before noticing a nearby cop and decided they'd probably be able to direct him to where to go so he didn't waste time being lost.

"Um excuse me sir?" Naruto asked before the cop looked his way.

"Yes?" the cop asked as Naruto rubbed the back of his neck.

"Do you happen to know how to reach this address?" Naruto asked, holding out the paper that had Sojiro's address written on it.

"Ah you just want to get to that address? It's in an alley a bit further down this street. Take a right after that apartment with the stairs and you should be able to find it" the cop said as Naruto smiled and nodded.

"Thank you very much officer" he said before continuing to walk down the street and turning once he passed the apartment complex that the cop had described.

He noticed there was only one house in this alley and as he walked up he saw the nameplate read 'Sakura' as in Sojiro's last name. Deciding not to wait he rang the doorbell only, after a minute or so, no one came outside which made him wonder if he had gone out.

"Looks like no one's home" a man said as Naruto looked over to see a delivery man standing near his truck seemingly talking to himself. "Sakura-san is usually at his café around this time…well Leblanc is in the back alley so I should make my other deliveries first then head back…" the man said before frowning and Naruto shrugged his shoulders as he decided to look around for this 'Leblanc'.

'Great, gotta look for another back alley' he thought with a frown as he wondered around, peeking into various side alleys only to find something hopeful to being Leblanc as he went down a side alley located close to where he arrived in.

'Coffee and Curry. Leblanc' he read on a nearby sign in front of the small café before he walked in.

Instantly he was hit by the smell of coffee while the café gave off a strong homey feel to it. He noticed only three people were in the café, two in a booth and one with an apron on a chair at the bar while the TV talked about how a transit bus drove down the opposing lane with others on board.

"How frightening" the old man at the booth said as the old woman nodded.

"What could be going on? Didn't something similar happen just the other day?" she asked as the man at the bar frowned and tapped his pen on the newspaper in his hand.

"Vertical is…the name of a shellfish used for farming pearls" the man said more to himself before noticing he was standing there and waiting. "Oh…right. They did say that was today" the man said as he set his newspaper on the bar behind him and stood up.

"We'll be going now. Payment is on the table" the old man at the booth said as he and the woman stood up.

"Yeah, thanks for coming" the man he quickly figured to be Sojiro, given the apron, said as the old man nodded.

"This place is in the back alley so there's no worries of a car crashing in here" he said, making Sojiro raise an eyebrow at.

"A what now?" he asked, confused what the man meant.

"There's been a string of those rampage accidents you know. I just hope that none happen around here" the old man said as Sojiro waved it off.

"It's none of my concern" he said making the old man chuckle a bit.

"We'll see you next time then" the old man said before the two of them left leaving only him and Sojiro in the café.

"Four hours just for a cup of joe…" Sojiro said with a sigh before he looked toward Naruto. "So you're Naruto? I do say you have your mother's hair so there's not many people you could be" he added as Naruto nodded and ran his hand through his hair.

"Yeah I am Naruto Uzumaki, I'll be in your care from now on Sojiro. Jiraiya told me to have you read this once we met" Naruto said as he pulled out a letter from Jiraiya before handing it to Sojiro who nodded and opened it.

Sojiro's face went from tired to somewhat serious as he read through the apparent two paged letter. "Huh…well…hmmm. You know what fine, if that old man thinks so then I'll keep that in mind" Sojiro said before looking back at him.

"If he thinks what?" Naruto asked as Sojiro frowned and rubbed the back of his head as if he was unsure what to say or how to say it.

"He mentioned how after the man fell on his own due to being drunk and the cops showed up that you said he commanded the cops right?" Sojiro asked as Naruto nodded, having told Jiraiya this fact only due to him arriving before his lawyer and Jiraiya deciding to keep it a secret to protect him in case the man ordered the cops to do something else.

"Yeah, before he even noticed me coming up to stop them I heard him say the cops were his bitches. Plus the man was drunk so when he swung at me first I just stepped back and he fell onto his face before blaming me" Naruto said as he still was pissed about taking the fall like this and not fighting back but ended up having to with the witness being forced to go along with the drunk man.

Sojiro though nodded as he pocketed the letter. "Well it seems that Jiraiya believes you and thinks you didn't actually assault the man. He's looking into it and you're to stay here to keep yourself safe while you serve out your probation here for the next year" Sojiro said with a bit of a smirk.

"Guess you don't look all that bad unlike how I was expecting when Jiraiya described you, follow me" Sojiro said as he motioned Naruto to follow before they headed through the café and up the stairs in the back.

As they reached the top of the stairs, walking into Leblanc's attic, Naruto had to cough a bit due to how unbelievably dusty and messy it was. From books stacked all around to junk, garbage, and unused household items piled in one corner. Dust caked everything except the bed and blanket in the top right corner while cobwebs hung from the ceiling.

"Wow, I'm guessing you really don't come up here too often" Naruto said with a frown as Sojiro frowned.

"Why would I? This was my storage though from now on it will be your room" Sojiro said as he pointed to the bed. "I'll at least give you sheets for your bed but it's on you to clean up the rest as Jiraiya and I did agree to make it where you have to do some work as a punishment of sorts" he said before Naruto sighed at the work ahead of him.

"I'll be leaving after I lock up each day. You'll be alone at night so don't do anything stupid as I will throw you out if you cause trouble as I am still your probation officer while you are here" Sojiro warned while Naruto saluted at him.

"Don't worry I don't plan to cause any trouble for you" Naruto said while Sojiro looked him over as if trying to discern if he meant it before nodding.

"We'll be going to Shujin tomorrow. We will introduce ourselves properly to the staff there as you need to make a good impression given there is rarely a place that will accept someone like you" Sojiro said before he pointed behind him over his shoulder.

"Your luggage from Jiraiya arrived earlier and I left it over there. You do whatever you want until I leave but try not to be too loud" Sojiro said as he walked down the stairs and Naruto sighed.

'Well best see what Jiraiya sent me' he thought as he walked over to the cardboard box and opened it up. He noticed how it was full of clothes, daily necessities, and other items Jiraiya thought he might like which included a picture of his parents. 'Guess I should change into more comfortable clothes before I clean so I don't dirty my uniform' he thought as he quickly changed.

He chose simple and comfortable clothes, sticking with a long sleeved black shirt, an orange sleeveless hoodie that had white fur trim around the hood, a pair of dark blue jeans, and a pair of black Converse sneakers.

'And now on to cleaning this mess up as I can't live like this' Naruto thought with a sigh as he rolled up his sleeves and decided to get to work.

First he started with dusting, getting rid of the cobwebs that hung from the ceiling, before bringing out a mop and broom to clean the floor. He also slid his box of things onto a nearby shelf after clearing space, put the sheet onto his bed, and tidying up as much as he could which consisted of clearing the table that was next to the couch.

He planned to clean and tidy more but at least now it was moderately livable up here without worrying about getting caked in dust if he touched anything nearby.

"Wow so the noise I was hearing actually was going towards something. This place doesn't look too bad now that it's cleaned" Sojiro said as he looked around with an impressed smirk on his face.

"Thanks, living on my own kind of helps teach a man how to clean up after himself" Naruto said, making Sojiro raise an eyebrow at.

"Doesn't Jiraiya live with you though?" Sojiro asked which only made Naruto let out a scoff with an eyeroll.

"That pervert has spent more time out of the house than in it since I turned old enough to look after myself and even before then it was iffy. He's a decent guy when he is around but it isn't too often that he is around at all" Naruto said with a bit of a frown before Sojiro decided to change the subject as he could tell it was a sore one.

"Why don't you go to bed, it's late and we do have somewhere to be tomorrow. I'm going to close up the shop and get out of here myself. Behave and we'll head over to the school tomorrow" Sojiro said before he walked down the stairs and Naruto heard the door open and close.

Naruto sighed as he once again changed into pajamas, consisting of a pair of loose black sweats and a long sleeved orange shirt. As he laid down on his new bed he stared up at the ceiling, wondering how his new life here would be after everything that happened.

'Wonder how long I can keep my stupid record a secret at my new school' he thought before he hear his phone chime in his pocket only to see, as he pulled it out, the weird app with the eye icon had reappeared on his phone.

'I thought I deleted this thing?' Naruto thought with a frown before he deleted it again, deciding to look at his phone better tomorrow to make sure it didn't have a virus on it as he put the blanket over him and decided to go to bed.

As his eyelids grew heavy and closed it seemed like just a second later that he bolted up, the sensation of falling quickly jolting him awake only to find himself somewhere unknown.

The place was incredibly blue with chains hanging from the walls. He noticed a toilet in the room and as he sat up he quickly realized not only were his wrists bound in shackles and connected with a chain but he was wearing a black and white striped shirt and pair of pants like a prisoner.

As he quickly moved it sit up, continuing to look around, a chuckle brought him out of his thoughts and quickly looking towards his right to see a jail cell door bound in chains as two figures walked in front of it from each side.

The figures were small and female with platinum blonde hair and yellow eyes with seemingly matching uniforms though he noticed some differences between the two. The girl on his right had her hair done in a pair of buns, her had having the letters 'X M R N' on it with her eye patch over her right eye while the girl on his left had hers done in a braided ponytail with the letters 'O Y O O' on her hat and her eye patch on her left eye.

Their outfits though consisted of black loose fitting shorts, long sleeved blue shirts with a lighter blue sash going from their left shoulder down to the left hip, thin black ties, a black brassard on their left bicep, knee high white socks, and a pair of black shoes.

He watched as they stood in front of his door, almost waiting for him before he stood up and walked towards them only to hear the jingle of more chains. A quick look behind him showed how there was a ball and chain attached to him by a shackle on his left ankle.

As he moved towards them, thankful that his chain was long enough to allow him to reach the door, he grabbed onto the bars and frowned at them. Though before he could ask them what the hell was going on they turned and looked behind them, getting him to notice a lone figure sitting behind a desk in the center of the circular room.

The man looked incredibly odd as he was very lanky with thin arms and large eyes. He had grey hair which was balding with long pointed ears and an even longer and pointier nose. He was dressed rather well in a black suit and white gloves as he smiled widely at him.

"Trickster…" the man's voice being deep as he held out a hand from behind his desk "Welcome to my Velvet Room" he said as Naruto frowned and looked at him.

"Okay seriously what the hell is all this place? Why am I locked up like this and who the hell are you all!?" Naruto asked, not liking being locked in a cell as he tried shaking the cell door.

"So you've come to inmate" the girl on the right said, her voice having a somewhat cocky and confident tone to it as she looked at him.

"The you in reality is currently fast asleep. You are only experiencing this as a dream" the one on the left added, her voice being very calm and almost emotionless as she too looked at him.

"You're in the presence of our master. Stand up straight!" the right one ordered as the man in the center nodded and looked back at him.

"Welcome. I am delighted to make your acquaintance. This place exists between dream and reality, mind and matter. It is a room that only those who are bound by a 'contract' may enter. I am Igor, the master of this place so remember it well" Igor said, somewhat answering his questions but still avoiding to at the same time.

"I summoned you to speak of important matters, it involves your life as well" Igor said as Naruto frowned at him.

"Important matters? What the hell are you talking about?" Naruto asked as Igor looked around the room.

"Still this is a surprise. The state of this room reflects the state of your own heart. To think a prison would appear as such. You truly are a 'prisoner' of fate" Igor said as Naruto dryly laughed and rolled his eyes at him.

"Yeah guess that's what happens when I've been arrested for doing the right thing by a corrupt adult. Also I don't believe in fate old man" Naruto said as he stared Igor down, making the man chuckle and nod.

"In the near future there is no mistake that ruin awaits you, whether you believe in fate or not" Igor said making Naruto frown.

"What do you mean by ruin?" Naruto asked as Igor nodded.

"I speak of the end to everything. However there is a means to oppose such a fate. You must be 'rehabilitated', rehabilitated towards freedom. That is the only means to avoid ruin" Igor explained as he interlocked his fingers in front of him. "Do you have the resolve to challenge the distortion of the world?" he asked as Naruto frowned and nodded.

"Yeah as I'd rather avoid this ruin or whatever you think is to come" Naruto said, making Igor chuckle as he held out a hand towards him again.

"Then allow me to observe the path of your rehabilitation" Igor said before Naruto watched the two girls fully turned back towards him and stand right in front of him. "Ah, pardon me for not introducing the others. To your right is Caroline," he introduced as the confident one smirked at him "and to your left is Justine" he said, the calm one softly nodding towards him "they serve as wardens here" he finished as Caroline laughed.

"Try and struggle as hard as you like" Caroline said as he noticed the taser baton behind her back.

"The duty of wardens is to protect inmates. We are also your collaborators…that is, if you remain obedient" Justine said as Naruto nodded as he looked at them, feeling that they were more than meets the eye.

"I shall explain the roles of these two at another occasion" Igor said as the two turned face back towards Igor. "Now then it seems the night is waning and it is almost time for you to wake. Take your time to slowly come to understand this place as we will surely meet again eventually" Igor said before he snapped his fingers and a bell rapidly started ringing.

"Time is up! Now hurry up and go back to sleep" Caroline said as Naruto frowned, not sure how to take all of this as he wondered if it was all a strange fever dream of sorts, before his vision started to darken and the Velvet Room around him fading away.

-4/10 – Sunday-

As Naruto woke up the next morning he frowned, staring up at his ceiling as the weird dream of the 'Velvet Room' replayed in his head. He wasn't sure if it was really just a dream or not given how real it all felt to him. Honestly it confused him but knew he couldn't dwell on it too much given he needed to get changed into his uniform and ready to head to his school with Sojiro.

It didn't take him long to get changed, deciding to wait in his room for Sojiro to arrive given heading downstairs didn't feel like something he was quite allowed to do. Sojiro, most likely wanting to get this over with as quickly as he could, arrived shortly after with the bell on the door alerting him to the man's arrival.

He was a bit surprised how dressed up Sojiro had gotten as he lost the apron and put on a white blazer over his usual pink dress shirt, the same pale khakis and white loafers but added a white tribly.

"Oh good you're up. Well then, let's go introduce ourselves properly to the staff about your transfer" Sojiro said before Naruto stood up and nodded, also wanting to get this over with.

"The school you'll attending is in the Aoyama district. It'll take a while to get there by train and the transfers are a pain too" Sojiro explained to him while motioning for him to follow as he started to head downstairs.

"I'll drive you there today but just for today. Let's go" he added, Naruto followed him down the stairs and out of the café which Sojiro promptly locked up behind them. "Sheesh….men aren't usually allowed in my passenger seat" the man complained to himself once they arrived at his car.

Sojiro's car was a nice older model yellow two seater Porsche which did well on the streets and was able to get them to Shujin Academy in a nice amount of time.

While they stood outside Shujin Academy and before walking past the front gate Sojiro quickly stopped and turned towards him with a bit of a frown. "Please do me a favor and behave yourself, all right? The easier this goes down the easier things are for you and for me" he said as Naruto nodded and he slipped his hands into his pockets.

"Don't worry I know how to behave and to put on a calm front" Naruto said with an eye roll. "Why do you think I'm wearing these fake glasses? Jiraiya suggested them to give me a 'studious and diligent student' aura" he asked making Sojiro smirk a bit.

"Well at least you're thinking ahead, now come on. The sooner this is done the better" Sojiro said before he walked in, causing Naruto to follow behind while he checked the school out.

It didn't take long for them to find the principal's office and from the look of the secretary smiling up at them they were thankfully expecting and ready for them.

"Go right on in" the secretary said as Sojiro smiled and nodded at her before heading towards the door.

Once inside Naruto was able to see the two people waiting for them. The first was a rather incredibly overweight man who was entirely bald and wore a beige suit with a white undershirt and red bow tie. From first glance he knew the man didn't like him and from the fact he was the one sitting behind the desk meant he was most likely the principal, which didn't bode well for him.

The other figure was a woman. She looked rather youthful standing at a medium height and slender build. She had dark brown somewhat unkempt hair that went down to her chin, and dark brown eyes. She wore a long-sleeved yellow shirt that had white and red lines going across it, a blue denim skirt, and white heels.

The way she looked at him kind of made him frown inwardly, as he was keeping a straight face, since she looked afraid of him.

Naruto kind of kept to himself as Sojiro handled the paperwork before the principal looked towards him, making his stand up and focus in on them again.

"To reiterate, just so we're clear, you will be immediately expelled if you cause any problems" the principal said as Naruto nodded.

"Yes sir, I promise to be on my best behavior and not cause any trouble while I go through my probation" Naruto said, looking at the principal with a serious look in his eyes that made the man somewhat smirk before it faded and the man grew a serious look again.

"In my opinion you're nothing but a liability but we had our circumstances to consider….Whatever you might have done a variety of things in hiding in your hometown, those days are over. If you are thrown out from our school there will be no place for you to go. Keep that in mind" he warned as Naruto nodded again.

"Yes sir, I understand" Naruto said, knowing to keep his tone respectful as to not rub the man the wrong way and from the look on his face it was thankfully working.

"This is the teacher in charge of your class" the principal said, motioning towards the woman at his side.

"I'm Sadayo Kawakami. Here is your student ID" she said as she placed it on the table for him to pick up, showing she was nervous to even hand it to him.

He had to pause for a second before he accepted it, noticing what looked to be a flyer underneath it before she quickly snatched it away.

"Be sure to read the school rules. Any violations will send you straight to the guidance office" she warned him before sighing a bit. "And if by chance you cause any problems I won't be able to protect you at all…that IS your promise, right, Principal Kobayakawa?" she asked, looking over to the principal who nodded.

"He is responsible for all his actions" he said as Kawakami rubbed her arm a bit nervously.

"But really though, why me? There should've been better candidates" she complained as the principal sighed and nodded understandingly.

"It was a sudden transfer and your class was the only one that had an opening" he said as Sojiro finally finished signing and sighed as he looked at them.

"If you are done explaining things, mind if we get going? I have a store to get back to" Sojiro said as the principal nodded.

"Of course but Ms. Kawakami can you wait outside with him so I can have a private talk with Sakura-san?" the principal asked as he looked towards Kawakami who frowned but nodded as she walked towards the door, Naruto deciding to follow once Sojiro nodded to him.

Once out of the room the principal frowned as he looked towards Sojiro with a serious look on his face. "Sakura-san, please keep a close eye on him. Don't let him cause any trouble outside" he warned as Sojiro nodded.

"Don't worry I already plan to have a serious talk with him about the situation he is in so he doesn't take things too lightly. Thankfully the boy seems to know he's in the wrong so that is a good sign" Sojiro lied as he remembered how Jiraiya warned him in his letter to make it seem like Naruto was a model probationer to keep him safe.

He didn't know what was going on but given his past and what Jiraiya did for a living he wasn't going to question it, especially after Jiraiya confirming the content of his letter over the phone.

"Good, well best not keep the boy waiting with Kawakami for too long. The papers look fine so you are free to go" the principal said while Sojiro sighed a bit from relief before he headed out to see Naruto standing on the opposite side of hallway from Kawakami once he left the secretary's reception office.

"Sorry to keep you waiting, we're good to go now" Sojiro said as Kawakami nodded and looked towards Naruto.

"Come to the faculty office when you arrive at school tomorrow. I'll show you to your classroom then" she said before she started to walk off.

"Wait Ms. Kawakami" Naruto called out, stopping her before she got too far while Sojiro watched with a raised eyebrow. "I just want you to know the assault wasn't something I just up and did for the hell of it….I did it to stop a woman from being raped" he said making Kawakami frown a bit as she looked back at him.

"I saw a guy forcing himself on a woman while she called out for help. I didn't know how drunk the man was so when I put my hand on his shoulder to pull him off her he spun around and ended up falling on his face. He also tried to punch me but that's not the point" he said with a sigh as he ran his hand through his hair.

"I know I could have handled the situation better," he lied as he hoped this little lie would help make his school life better "but it's not like the assault was me just going up and attacking someone. I don't want you or anyone to feel like I'm a danger as I intend to do my probation right and without any trouble" he said making Kawakami look him over, as if to assess if he was serious or not before nodding.

"Well you can prove it to me by how you act in class. Trust is earned but thank you for being forthright" she said with a lesser frown as he nodded.

"I understand and look forward to tomorrow" he said before he let her walk off and following Sojiro out of the school until they stopped at the front door of the school.

"They're seriously giving you the cold shoulder…although you did a good job trying to ease them of their worries, especially with that female teacher of yours" Sojiro said with a sigh as he noticed Naruto acting different although he did well at seeming sincere.

"That's what it means to have a criminal record….even if it was for stopping a rape" Naruto said, grumbling a bit as he slipped his hands into his pockets.

"Well try to make the best of it kid, for now let's just go home" Sojiro said with a sigh as the proceeded their way out of the school and back towards his car.

-Kawakami-

Kawakami frowned as she walked through the school. "What a troublesome situation" a male's voice said as she looked up to see Kamoshida looking at her with moderate concern.

Kamoshida was a tall man, standing a bit above six feet tall with black unkempt hair, thick eyebrows, and a broad square jaw. Being the PE teacher he wore a white t-shirt and black jersey pants.

"I can't believe they pushed someone with a record onto me. A male teacher would be better suited for this" she complained as despite him trying to ease her worries she was still a bit unsure about things.

"Why in the world was someone like that admitted here?" Kamoshida wondered aloud as she sighed and shrugged her shoulders.

"Who knows? It was the principal's decision. I was told it was for the school's reputation" she said, not quite sure how that worked since she thought it would have had negative effects on things rather than a positive one.

"I would've thought that my volleyball team has contributed more than enough to cover that" Kamoshida said as given he was a former gold medal winning Olympian athlete his volleyball team and how they were winning consistently was helping the school a lot.

"That's certainly true" she said with a frown while Kamoshida stretched a bit as his team was about to start their practice soon.

"Be careful, ok? Then again, if anything were to happen I'd kick out a student like that right away. The only upside of him seems to be that he was a star player in a lot of his school's sports teams….guess if it comes down to it some physical exercise might keep him in line" Kamoshida said, thinking out loud about using the kid as a part of his team if he behaved while Kawakami frowned.

"Well he doesn't seem that bad from what I was expecting. I expected a delinquent but he just seems to have gone a little too far in protecting someone. Still I sort of wish he'd just end up not coming to school…though that isn't something I should say as a teacher" she said with a frown as she knew it was wrong of her and that she should give him a chance before making judgement.

"Well I should be returning to practice" he said as she nodded as if she just remembered something.

"Oh, right. The tournament's coming up isn't it?" she said, remembering how it was coming up rather soon so the volleyball team was in full swing in terms of practicing.

"Yeah having such high expectations placed on you by others is quite a problem in itself. We'll have to work hard to make up for the track team too" Kamoshida said with a proud smile as she frowned and looked away a bit.

"Yes…that's true" she said before she watched him walk away, leaving her to continue to worry and wonder how tomorrow would turn out.

-Naruto-

Naruto groaned a bit as he sat in Sojiro's car as they were stuck in traffic and had been for what felt like the last hour or more.

"Traffic's not moving at all" Sojiro said impatiently as he tapped his fingers on his steering wheel wishing the cars in front of him would move. "You're taking the train starting tomorrow so hopefully you won't be caught up like this" he said with a sigh before he looked over at him.

"So how was it? The school I mean. Do you think you can manage?" Sojiro asked as Naruto leaned back a bit and hummed a bit in thought.

"I think it'll be fine even if my record is somehow told around school. I've never been one to let what people say bother me" Naruto said, being rather confident in himself since with blood red hair and whiskers he had grown up being bullied by kids about being a 'demon' or a 'monster'.

In the end it just helped him realize who his true friends were….at least until this all happened and most of them, save for a few, left him.

"Well good on you for persevering I guess" Sojiro said with a sigh as while he was somewhat impressed by Naruto, he was more annoyed at being stuck in traffic like this. "Just try not to cause too much trouble" he added before a report came over the radio detailing how due to a subway train being derailed it would delay and mess with the times of the subway until things got fixed.

"Another accident? So that's why it's so crowded…there's been a lot of those lately" he complained a bit before gaining a slightly somber look. "'In fact there was a real sad on just last month, it happened before you came here. If I remember right, the girl that passed away was only fifteen….her parents have got to be just…" he said before trailing off, not wanting go on towards such a sad topic.

Eventually they were able to return to LeBlanc but it was late into the evening by the time they arrived, much to Sojiro's annoyance.

"Damn, to think there'd be that much traffic….what a waste of time. I wasn't even able to open the café today" Sojiro said with a sigh, Naruto frowning as he felt this was partially his fault.

"Sorry you had to do this for me" Naruto apologized a bit before Sojiro shook his head and waved him off.

"Not your fault, blame the stupid traffic. Now come on, lets head upstairs, there's something I need to give you" Sojiro said before motioning for Naruto to lead the way while he looked up the news about the accident that just happened.

"Talk about a gruesome accident…80 people were involved" Sojiro said with a wince before pulling out a book and tossing it onto the table near the stairs.

"That is a diary. Make sure to keep it up to date. You may be under probation but there's no special limits on what you do in particular besides following the law that is. However I'm obligated to report on you which is why I'm having you record your daily activities" the man explained before his phone rang and diverted his attention.

Naruto didn't pay Sojiro's phone call any mind as he picked up the diary and flipped through the empty pages. 'Thin pages but more than enough for a year, easily one to two pages a day maybe if I were to write every day' Naruto thought before pocketing the book just as Sojiro hung up his call.

"I'm off. I'll lock the place up so do whatever you want for the rest of the night. Don't mess up my store though, but then again I don't think I have to really warn you" Sojiro said, already getting the feeling the kid wasn't the kind to mess with his place and the serious look in the boy's eyes reaffirming that a bit.

"Don't worry, last thing I'm going to do is mess around with your stuff as one – that's messed up to do with you being kind enough to allow me to stay here and two – it'd result in me getting kicked out and most likely arrested" Naruto told him, understanding why Sojiro had to warn him but at the same time hoping the man at least figured he wasn't stupid enough to bite the hand that was feeding him in a sense.

"Good, seems you aren't stupid" Sojiro chuckled with a smirk before beginning his way down the stairs. "You got school tomorrow so you better head off to bed soon" he reminded him before leaving with the bell chiming signaling he had really left.

'Guess I should do as I'm told' Naruto thought with a frown, pulling out the book and a pen from his bag and writing a bit in the diary.

He didn't write too much in it, just some thoughts about Sojiro, how things went at school, and – as much as he wasn't sure about it – his odd dream with the long nosed man in the so called 'Velvet Room'.

His thoughts were interrupted though as a ringing started to play out, clearly not coming from his phone but instead from downstairs.

'Is someone calling the pay phone I saw down there?' he thought with a frown before he headed downstairs to answer it.

"Hey it's me" Sojiro's voice said over the phone. "Look I closed the shop but I forgot to flip the sign to closed when I left. It's too much trouble for me to come back and do it so can you do it for me?" he asked while Naruto looked over, seeing the 'closed' part of the sign was facing him through the glass front door.

"Don't worry, I got it" Naruto told him before his caretaker chuckled a bit.

"I doubt any customers are going to come now even if the sign's flipped to 'Open' but I have to say it's a relief that you answered. It's a personal policy of mind to not save a guy's number in my phone" Sojiro said, getting an eye roll from Naruto.

"God now it's obvious that you and Jiraiya are friends with a comment like that" he joked before getting a bit of a grumble from Sojiro.

"Oh whatever, just flip the sign for me" the man said, his tone making it clear that he wasn't actually upset at his comment.

"Again, don't worry, I got it" Naruto assured him before the man hung up and allowed him to go out and flip the sign before coming back in and locking the door again.

After changing back into his pajamas Naruto frowned as he stared up at the ceiling on his new bed, scrolling through some things on the web about the most recent accident since he had some time before he had to completely go to bed.

His frown turned to a bit of confusion as he saw a familiar red and black eye app on his phone. 'Wait…didn't I delete this?' he thought with a raised eyebrow, unsure what to do with it but given that confusing dream about the Velvet Room a part of him felt the app was somehow related to it given the craziness of everything.

'Well, I'll check it out tomorrow. For now it's getting too late' he thought before tossing the blanket over him to head off to bed.

4/11 – Monday-

Waking up was tough but he was able to pull himself out of bed, getting up and going to the bathroom downstairs before heading back up to get changed. He heard the bell downstairs ring, showing that Sojiro had arrived, and after he was changed he also headed down to see the man waiting with a plate of curry and a cup of coffee on the counter, seemingly for him.

"Here, before you go to school have some breakfast. Just try and finish it before the customers start coming in" the man told him, Naruto a bit unsure about curry and coffee for breakfast but decided to not look a gift horse in the mouth.

As he took his first bite he was honestly surprised by the complexity of the curry, it being like no other curry he's had before. Even the coffee was amazing despite him not being much of a coffee guy.

"Thanks for the food Sojiro, it was really delicious" Naruto made sure to tell him before the man smiled and took his plate and cup away.

"Turns out you do have manners after all, now if you're serious about going to school you had better leave now so you don't end up potentially late due to the trains. But before you go can you turn the sign to open for me" Sojiro warned him with Naruto nodding and giving him a thumbs up as he started towards the door.

"Got it, I'll do my best not to get lost" Naruto said before leaving, quickly heading turning the sign before heading off towards the station.

Riding the Tokyo subways were seemingly worse than the rumors he had heard about before coming here, him and everyone else being jam packed into the car like sardines but then again he wasn't quite sure if this was due to the recent accident or not.

Plus it was so damn confusing with all the line transfers and having to rush around to catch the train in time.

As he finally arrived at Aoyama-Itchome he frowned as he left the station, noticing how it had quickly started raining and quickly hurried over to a nearby store to hopefully wait for the rain to pass.

'I have no idea why I didn't pack an umbrella, it is spring after all' Naruto thought with a sigh before he pulled out his phone and opened his navigation app only to quickly become worried that the weird red and black eye app was actually a virus as the symbol quickly took over his entire screen.

'Damn it, if this thing is broken I'm screwed as I really can't get a new one right now' he groaned to himself before the symbol finally went away just as someone else walked up to find shelter from the rain.

He could tell, even with the person's hood being up, that it was a girl.

She wore a Shujin uniform of a black blazer and skirt with a white hoodie zipped up under her blazer and a pair of red tights under her skirt. As she pulled off her hood he could see more of her with her platinum blonde hair that was styled in two pigtails flowed out and her bright blue eyes looked out towards the rain.

That was until she looked his way once noticing him.

"Didn't pack an umbrella either?" Naruto asked, getting a nod from her with a gentle smile.

"Spring rain, you can never plan for it" she said with a bit of a chuckle before they both looked back out towards the rain and noticed as a silver car slowed down and stopped across from them with the window rolling down.

"Good morning. Want me to give you a ride to school?" a man with black unkempt hair, thick eyebrows, and the broadest square jaw that Naruto had ever seen asked the girl.

"Um, sure. Thank you" the girl said, Naruto catching a bit of hesitation in her tone.

"Do you need a lift too?" the man asked before Naruto waved him off.

"Thanks but no thanks, I need to learn the way there myself" he told the man as he watched the girl get into the car, frowning as he saw how sad she became before the window rolled up and the car drove off.

Naruto grew a bit confused as he saw a guy his age run after the car a bit before stopping with a frown. "Dammit…screw that pervy teacher" the guy muttered while he panted a bit, seemingly out of breath.

The guy had short spiky blonde hair and dark brown eyes from what he could see of his side profile. He also wore a Shujin outfit but instead of the white undershirt he wore a bright yellow shirt with a design on the front of it that he couldn't quite see with his suspenders hanging down at his sides.

"Pervy teacher?" Naruto asked with a raised brow, unaware of his phone in his pocket catching his voice and getting the guy to turn his way.

"What do you want?" the guy asked before walking towards him a bit. "You planning on ratting me out to Kamoshida?" he asked with Naruto shaking his head.

"Um…no? I don't even know who Kamoshida is" Naruto told him, confusing the guy as he looked at him like he wasn't sure what he had just said.

"In that car just now, it was Kamoshida…He does whatever the hell he wants. Who does he think he is-the king of a castle? Don't you agree?" the guy asked, further confusing Naruto as he sighed.

"I have no idea man, I'm a second year that just transferred here. Today's my first day" Naruto told him, finally getting through to him.

"No wonder you don't know him…come on, we'd better hurry up or we'll be late" he grumbled before motioning him to follow only for the both of them to stop and clutch their heads in unison as they both seemingly got a sudden headache.

"Ugh…my head hurts…Dammit. I want to go home" the guy grumbled again before they started walking towards the school, Naruto following alongside since he saw nothing wrong with it and slipped his phone into his pocket given a personal guide was better than a map.

This allowed him to be completely unaware of the eye icon reappearing on his phone as they headed down an alleyway.

He was brought to a stop though as something felt off, looking behind him at the puddle he just stepped in and feeling something wasn't right before the guy he was following called out in confusion.

And as he stepped out of the alleyway he too was utterly confused as, in front of him, was a massive castle with the air and clouds around it being various shades of purple.

"We didn't come the wrong way though….This should be right…." the guy muttered, clearly confused and wondering what the hell was happening – a sentiment Naruto definitely agreed with as the words on the stone front gate around the castle read 'Shujin Academy'.

"What's going on here?" the guy asked while Naruto shrugged.

"Honestly I have no idea….best we can do is go and check it out?" Naruto told him, still not sure what the hell all this was still.

Between this, the Velvet Room, and that whole 'time freezing and fiery figure' thing when he first arrived things have been….odd, to say the least, ever since he arrived in Tokyo.

Okay I know what you all are thinking and I wouldn't normally post a new story but with everything that is going on in the world and the hell that my house has become due to my utter monster of a nephew I've been stricken with insane amounts of writer's block which is really depressing me like crazy

During this I had bought Persona 5 Royal and I utterly loved Persona 5 base game so as I was playing Royal it really just got the wheels turning.

Keep in mind I created this back during Persona 5 base game with Royal really just shoving me to get really working on it so I figured if I can't work on anything else (as its like trying to walk through a brick wall) then why not keep working on something I actually can.

Hope you all understand

Now in regard to some changes I have in mind, all I can say is just watch and I'll explain them as they show up since if I went through and explained them all right now these end notes would be waaaaaay too long lol

One major change you all might have noticed is how Sojiro is with Naruto compared to Ren/Akira. In this set up Jiraiya knows Sojiro personally and with the letter warning Sojiro and explaining things Sojiro isn't so rough around the edges from the start.

Plus I wanted Naruto to help try and explain things to Kawakami so she is less 'Bleh' with him from the start.

Its things like this that will seperate Naruto from Ren/Akira and make it less like just 'Ren/Akira that looks like Naruto' you know?

The harem will be explained in time so it won't end with bad shit come 2/15. (Sae is most likely a yes while Ohya is still a big maybe)

In regards to his Persona and how the Wild Card ability will be handled, that'll be explained a bit next chapter as well.
