September 2013, S.H.I.E.L.D Academy

Block. Counter. Dodge. Uppercut. The opponent backed away, narrowly missing Percy's uppercut, but Percy kept advancing. The opponent swung for his left side, but Percy saw it coming and simply turned a shoulder, the punch narrowly missing his face as he dodged it, Matrix-style. Now off-balance, Percy went low and nailed his sparring partner's stomach who grunted and doubled over. With a fancy spinning kick, Percy nailed his partner on his back and he face-planted into the mat. The whole class oohed and looked away as the guy Percy just kicked took a heavy fall. Percy released his breath and helped his partner to his feet.

"Good try," Percy said with a genuine smile.

His partner coughed and tried for a smile. "It's like you're literally wired for combat."

"Yeah ... I got something like that," Percy replied mysteriously.

Agent Fleetwood, the class instructor clapped for the both of them. "Great job, fantastic job, the both of you. Percy, you are as fluent and as graceful as the Atlantic on a summer breeze. Just an absolutely amazing form you got there," Agent Fleetwood said.

Percy smirked. Oh, you have no idea, he thought.

"And that about wraps it up for today. We'll continue this tomorrow. Class dismissed," Agent Fleetwood finished. He clapped Percy's shoulder. "Keep it up and you'll be on duty in no time."

"Thanks, Agent Fleetwood."

Percy grabbed his stuff and walked out with the rest of his classmates, feeling in a great mood.

One could say Percy turned heads at SHIELD Academy. Nobody was rising through the ranks as fast as he was. His professors were impressed, his classmates were impressed. It was everyone's mind, the idea that Percy Jackson could be the youngest agent to be sent on an official mission.

It's been over a year since he officially started going to the Academy. Percy still quite vividly remembered the day Agent Coulson came up to him with the offer. He never had thought a great ordeal about his future, what with a lot of people expecting him to take some ocean-related bullshit degree. Studying was never Percy's cup of tea, to be quite frank. And there was going to be a lot of that had he gone to college and taken marine biology or marine researcher or some other marine-related career. He simply didn't want that.

Annabeth was okay with studying. Matter of fact, she was currently UC Berkeley, not too far from Camp Jupiter and her family. She liked studying for her architectural degree and she was close to her loved ones. Plus, Percy was only one hellhound trip away. It suited her, perfectly.

Percy on the other hand, didn't find himself wanting that for him. For some time, he was very lost on the subject of what was next after high school. He almost considered joining the Navy. And why not?

But then, of course, Agent Coulson came to Percy with an offer. And Percy accepted.

The Academy itself was split into three varieties. There was the Science and Technology section, which was basically for scientists and tech wizzes. There was the Communications section, which was all about data analysis and stuff like that. And then there was the one Percy was currently enrolled in, the Operations section. This was where they trained people to become field agents.

It was almost like boot camp, except he had a little more freedom. Uniforms, marching drills, specialized training, the whole shebang. And they let Percy keep his shoulder-length hair, which he was grateful. Nobody but himself would ever do anything to his most prized asset. After Riptide, of course.

Some of the biggest prodigies trained in those ranks. And they all knew Percy was next. He was the next big thing, after Clint Barton, after Bobbi Morse, after Grant Ward. He mastered jiu-jitsu pretty damn quickly. He could fight with any weapon: blade or firearm. Although, he definitely preferred to use the former more often than not.

His hydrokinesis was the one thing he kept secret, though. And the fact that he fought with the Avengers. Agent Coulson had advised him against it and Percy couldn't agree more. There was a reason he'd donned a mask. To this day, the media had not figured out who the seventh member was. And to this day, the aid of the Avengers was not needed. Which means Percy hadn't seen any of them since ... well, since the battle.

Percy thought about all of that as he walked back to his dorm. His roommate, Josh Baker, was there, playing on a Nintendo 3DS.

"Oh. Sup, Percy?"

Percy set his backpack down. "Nothing much."

"Just another day of kicking ass, huh?"

Percy shrugged. "I just don't like studying."

Josh chuckled. "Yeah, I feel you on that." He glanced over, frowning as Percy grabbed a towel from a bag that he had packed. "What? You goin' swimming?"

"Yeah."

"Where? The nearest body of water is like, a three-hour drive from here."

"I'm going to the pool."

Josh set down his console. "The pool? That's all the way in Science, though."

"I know."

Josh chuckled disbelievingly. "Somebody should just give you the 'certified bad-ass' medal already. Walking all the way to Science just to swim ... just badass. Well, have a fun time. Imma continue catching Pokemon."

Percy smiled. "You do that, Josh."

Percy's thoughts continued to wander as he made his way to the pool. It's been quiet for over a year and Percy never expected to have such peace in his life. His progress at the Academy skyrocketed and he himself knew as much. At some point, he would be on call for a mission. And he would definitely be ready for when the day comes. But until then, he could get used to this kind of quietness.

He just never expected the first type of noise would be at the Academy itself.

There it is, the first chapter of the second in the series. This was sort of like a prologue, in a way. And yes, I changed the name to The SHIELD Files. This will focus on Percy's progress through as a whole, not just at the Academy. As you can probably tell, he's very quickly rising through the ranks and it won't be long before he's called to a mission. In the next episode, there is a threat at the Academy itself. If you've seen Agents of SHEILD, you might know who it is. After that, I have three guys who Percy could fight for his missions. The last one is going to be the most interesting one and the hardest one for Percy. After that, the events of the Winter Soldier will happen. But Percy, won't be entirely with Steve and Nat, he'll only be with them in a couple of scenes. It's just interesting to see what was going on inside the building when Captain America was being deemed wanted by SHIELD.

So, yeah. That's the first chapter of the sequel. Hope you guys enjoy this ride as you did the last.
