New beginnings Part 1

"Miss Stern, may I speak with you a moment?" The Principal asks, having stepped up to "Miss Stern's" group of friends. Akira Stern, Age 14.

"Ok?" Akira follows the Principal off to the side. "Is something wrong?"

"No, I just wanted to ask you what you thought of having a roommate?" The Principal asks.

"I'd rather not." She states plainly.

"I'm sorry to hear that. I thought you'd be the best candidate to help her adjust. How about this…? If you say yes, I'll allow that band you and your brother want to start." The girl pauses for a moment, thinking it over.

"Deal." She replies, the Principal smiles happily.

"Excellent! I knew I could count on you." The Principal pats her head. Akira holds back from glaring. "Thank you. You may get back to what you were doing." The Principal walks off. Akira goes back to her friends.

"What was that all about?" Her twin asks. Shiro Stern, Age 14.

"I guess I have a new roommate, but Principal Delmas said we can start our band. Maybe we can find someone for Guitar!" She announces excitedly.

"Seriously!?" He too is becoming excited about the prospects of having a band. "Wow, we really are becoming like our parents here."

"Not me." Their strawberry blond friend comments. Dimitri Belpois, Age 13.

"Well of course not you, Di." Shiro says. "So, what about this roommate of yours?"

"I don't know. I don't like the idea though, I can't stand sharing a room with you some of the time, let alone a complete stranger. She better not be that annoying." There's a bell ringing. "Time to go. See you later!" She grabs her bag, it looks like a cat, it's a little ratted and old, but she loves it. She walks off to her first class, chemistry, with Mr. Belpois. "Heey, Uncle."

"Akira…" He half-heartedly reprimands. "Mr. Belpois here."

"Yea, I know. I like frustrating you." She giggles and takes her seat. Other students file in, some having already been in their seats when Akira got there. A small girl enters the room and walks up to the teacher, her hair is a lightish brown, dirty blond sort of mix, with a big, red, splotch on the bangs. Most of her face is covered by her books.

"E-Excuse me. This is Chemistry 1…?"

"Yes, it is. You must be the new student. Sit next to…" He pauses as he scans the room. "Next to Akira Stern, she sits right there." He points to Akira. She nods.

"Thank you…" Her brownish-gold eyes glint for a moment in the sunlight coming through the windows. It gave Mr. Belpois a strange sensation in his heart and in the back of his mind, he can't quite place it. His eyebrows scrunch in confusion. He shakes it off and goes back to writing on the board. The girl steps over to Akira and sits down beside her. Akira looks at her and then glares at Mr. Belpois, despite his head being turned, he can feel it.

"Who are you?" She asks the girl, not quite in a polite tone though.

"M-My name is Anna… I think… I was told you're my roommate." Anastasia Della Robbia, Age 13.

"You are my roommate?" She nods softly. Akira groans, annoyed. "Fine. Just don't get in my way, alright?" Anna nods softly again, setting her books on the table. The bell rings again, indicating class is to start.

"Good morning Class. We're going to start with some basic element equations, but first, Role call." He starts from the top of the list and goes down, he pauses at one, reading it over again. "Della Robbia?" Anna raises her hand shyly.

"H-Here…" Mr. Belpois's eyes widen, staring at her for a moment, it causes her to shrink back. He blinks a couple times, shaking his head, snapping out of it.

"Sorry." He marks his paper, continuing down the list, then continues on with class. Showing them how to add more elements to another, H2O and all that confusing stuff that many students in his class barely understand. The bell rings and everyone files back out. He starts setting up for his next class, erasing the board. "It's just a coincidence. There's no way it's- Or could it be… No! Maybe…? I don't know!" Mr. Belpois pinches the bridge of his nose, his glasses pushing up a bit, eyes closed tight. Anna seems to follow Akira out, Akira is finding herself more and more annoyed with every step. She turns around suddenly, causing Anna to stop in her tracks.

"What's your deal? Why are you following me?!" She snaps. Anna startles.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to- I-" She looks down and starts crying. She turns and starts to walk away in another direction. Akira could feel bad, but her annoyance level is too high to care. She continues on to her next class, Geometry. She sits next to her brother.

"What's got you in a mood?" He asks, recognizing her vexed face.

"I met my roommate. She's annoying." She replies, cursing under her breath, shaking her head. She places her elbow on the desk, resting her head on it.

"Maybe you should give it time?" Shiro suggests. "Remember what dad told us? He had a roommate while here too, got on his nerves most of the time, but they became very close friends despite that."

"If they were so close, then why don't we know him like we know Uncle?" She points out. He shrugs. She shakes her head and looks out the window, getting lost in her mind. She doesn't even notice the name Della Robbia being called, but the teacher receiving no answer. Though it's doubtful she'd even remember Della Robbia being the last name of her roommate anyway.

Meanwhile, a student enters Mr. Belpois class, he steps up to the desk.

"Excuse me?" He says. Mr. Belpois looks up. "I'm new here."

"I see. Um. Sit next to… Hayate Dunbar over there." Mr. Belpois points to a kid with black hair sitting near the back. The student nods and steps over to Hayate Dunbar, Age 15. He sits down, setting his physics notebook and text book down on the space in front of him.

"So you're new, huh?" Hayate starts.

"Yes. I arrived with my sister earlier this week." He replies, Giovanni Della Robbia, Age 15.

"Cool." The bell rings. Mr. Belpois starts calling names, going down the list once again.

"Della Robbia?" He calls out. "Again…?" Whispering to himself.

"Here, sir." Giovanni raises his hand. Mr. Belpois looks at him, completely bewildered. "Is something the matter, Sir?"

"No." He lies. He continues on his list and then starts class. "There is a golden rule in Physics. Can anyone tell me what that is?" No one raises their hand. "Ok, uh…" There's a knock on the door that interrupts his thought process. He walks over to answer it, seeing Dimitri.

"Hey, dad, I was wondering if I could borrow your printer. I'm doing a favor for the twins."

"Sure." Mr. Belpois opens the door wider for him to enter. Dimitri enters. "Maybe you can tell the class what the golden rule of Physics is."

"Oh, uh…" He looks around the room, nerves becoming frayed almost immediately. "No. I'm good." He steps over to his Dad's computer and sits down, getting to work. Mr. Belpois sighs.

"The Golden Rule of physics is that for every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction." Mr. Belpois explains. Dimitri starts printing. It goes on and then it's lunch time. Everyone files in, gets their food from Good Ol' Granny Rosa, and sits down.

"So, I printed out all those fliers you wanted." Dimitri says, pulling out a folder and sets it down for them. Shiro opens it up and looks at the fliers.

"Awesome! These'll work! Thanks." He says happily

"Of course! Though Dad ran out of printer ink…" Dimitri somberly admits.

"That can be replaced. We're making this happen!" Shiro shouts excitedly.

"Hey Shiro~! Whatcha got there?" A girl says, pulling a flier from his hands. "Oooh, advertisement for a band? You know I'm an excellent singer." Margaret Delmas, Age 13.

"We already have a singer, dipshit." Akira says, angrily, balling up a flier and throwing it at her.

"How could you be so mean to your future Sister in-law!?" The Margaret yells. Many people are staring already.

"You're never gonna marry my brother, bitch. Now get out."

"Akira!" A voice yells. She tenses and looks behind her. The gym teacher is right nearby. "Watch your language. Margaret, take your seat and eat your meal." Margaret humphs and walks away. Akira looks down, breathing out loudly. Shiro sighs. Everyone starts going on about their meals now that that scene is over with. After eating, Shiro stands and walks around, passing out fliers for the band.

"We need a guitarist, if anyone's interested, we're holding auditions after school in the gymnasium!" Shiro announces.

"So, you finally got clearance for the band?" The Gym teacher asks. Shiro smiles excitedly.

"Yep! Sis made a deal with Principal Delmas."

"Well, I'm proud of you, kiddo. Good luck. Let your mom know the good news this evening, ok? And let us know when you're going to perform, I'd love to see it!" The teacher says. Shiro smiles even more. He sits back down once he's done passing out fliers. "Are you sure, Jeremie?" The Gym teacher asks him quietly.

"No, I'm not, it could just be a coincidence. But to see that last name again… It sent shivers down my spine." Jeremie Belpois says in an equally quiet tone.

"Why? It's not like he died." Ulrich Stern, the gym teacher, points out.

"No, but how many years has it been? Eighteen? Not a single word and suddenly here's his children?"

"Maybe we can ask Sissi for the parent's number?" Ulrich suggests.

"Wouldn't that be an invasion of privacy?" Jeremie points out.

"I don't know. Maybe we can at least ask what parents are listed for her?" The brunette follows.

"Maybe. We can discuss this later."

"He wouldn't know that… Aelita's…" Ulrich stops himself, knowing the memory of that day is too painful, for both of them.

"No…" Jeremie closes his eyes. Ulrich looks down, sighing. The bell rings again. Classes continue on.

Soon the school day is over. Auditions for guitarist are being held as mentioned. Quite a few show up, but none are what Akira and Shiro are looking for. Meanwhile, their friend Dimitri had wandered off to an old factory he heard of recently. He became curious and went to explore it. As well, Jeremie and Ulric go to the Principal's office, knocking before entering.

"Sissi, we need a favor." Ulrich starts. Twenty years or so ago, he would have been hesitating so much to ask anything of her.

"Of course, what do you need?" She asks, she sets her papers down.

"There's a couple of students who came here, last name Della Robbia?" Jeremie explains.

"Oh… yea, two in fact." She says, though they both note the slight hesitation in her voice.

In the Gym, a boy enters, walking to the stage, Giovanni Della Robbia.

"What's the parents' names?" Ulrich asks.

"Hold on a second." She stands and walks to her file cabinet.

The boy starts to demonstrate his guitar skill to Shiro and Akira. Dimitri enters the factory and slides down the rope to the elevator right nearby. Curiosity definitely getting the best of him, and his lust for adventure. He walks in and presses the button for down.

"Here we go." She pulls a file from her cabinet, pushing it closed. "Anastasia and Giovanni Della Robbia." Sissi says, bringing the file over and setting it on her desk, leafing through it. Shiro and Akira watch in awe as this student finishes his routine and sets the guitar down.

"We'll definitely take you into consideration, Mr…" Shiro trails off, of course not knowing this student.

"Gio D."

"God!?" Shiro asks, then laughs. Gio rolls his eyes and steps off the stage, walking for the exit. Dimitri finds a large computer room. He looks around in shock, stepping up to the screen. He presses a few buttons, but nothing happens. He looks around for a way to turn it on, then sees a ladder nearby. He climbs down, seeing these strange tubes. He traces his fingers across them. Meanwhile Sissi finds the right document.

"Samantha Della Robbia is listed as the mother, then Odd Della Robbia is the father, for both of them." She reads off.

"Then… Odd's children are actually here…" Jeremie mumbles.

"Is there a number we can call? Or an email? Something we can use to contact him." Ulrich asks, almost sounding desperate.

"Yes." She reads off the number. Ulric types it into his phone. Dimitri uses the elevator to go down another level. A strange pillar slowly rises out of the ground. A lever pops out at him. He slowly walks up to it, grabbing hold. Ulric's phone rings, his heart races in anticipation.

"Hello?" A voice answers. Dimitri flips the switch, the computer turns on, a whoosh of air coming at him.

"Odd?" Ulrich asks in return.

"Who is this?" The voice asks.

"It's me, Ulric Stern. Remember me?" It's silent on the other side. Then a click, the line goes dead. "He hung up on me… Did… we do something to hurt him?" He immediately worries.

"Odd was never one to really hold a grudge, I can't imagine that you would have…" Sissi says softly. Ulrich dials the number again. Dimitri rides the elevator back up to the computer room and presses a button. He clicks on file after file, eyes widen significantly.

"It's like a video game or something." He mumbles.

The phone rings and rings, but Ulrich is thrown to voicemail.

"Odd, pick up the phone. I don't know what happened, or what we did. If it was something we did, I'm sorry… We… We miss you. We've been worried about you all these years. We want to touch base again. There's so much we have to catch up on. Please call me back." He hangs up, lowering his head. Jeremie places a hand to his back. Sissi walks over and gives them both tight hugs.

"I'm sure whatever is going on, it'll be resolved. You guys were best friends, I have no doubt things will work out in the end." She pulls away and cleans up the files. Shiro and Akira go back to their dorms to. Shiro notices Dimitri isn't in their room like usual. He gives him a call.

"Yea?" Dimitri answers.

"Where are you at?" Shiro asks, a little worried when Dimitri strays from routine.

"You know that old factory I told you about?" Dimitri asks

"You're not…" Shiro becomes a little upset, having tried to tell Dimitri not to go there, he doesn't know what he'll find.

"I got too curious! You should come see this. It's amazing! Maybe bring Akira too. It's some sort of video game." Shiro sighs and agrees, hanging up. Akira just enters her room and sees the dresser fell down somehow.

"What the fuck?"

"H-Hello…?" A voice says under the fallen dresser. Akira steps over and lifts it up, there is little Anna below it, luckily tucked safely in the long part of the dresser.

"What the Hell happened?!" Akira asks, confused more than angry.

"I-I don't know…" She starts crying. "I'm sorry…" Akira manages to push the dresser up to the wall, but notices one of the plugs by it is completely blown.

"How the holy what?" She examines it, then grabs her phone from her pocket, calling Dimitri.

"Hello?" Dimitri asks.

"Yea, Di? One of my plug outlets is completely black. Anyway that can happen?" She asks.

"Hmm… Short circuit usually. Did any water get spilled on it?" He asks. She feels around it.

"No, I don't think so. Nothing's plugged in either. Maybe I should tell Principal Delmas? Or maybe call your dad?" Akira comes up with.

"That's up to you, but can it wait? I want to show you and Shiro something I discovered!" His excitement was definitely present, even if it was over a phone.

"Ok? Where are you?" There's a knock at the door. "Oh, hold on." She walks over and answers it, Shiro stands in front of it.

"Hey, Di said he found something cool he wants to show us." He explains. Akira raises an eyebrow and hangs up on Dimitri.

"Ok then, let's go." Shiro nods, but then sees Anna sitting on the ground, still crying.

"First, I want to meet your roommate." He pushes past her and walks to the small girl. Akira rolls her eyes. Shiro kneels in front of her. "What's wrong?"

"I-I was scared… Be-Because the closet fell on me…" A sob escapes the little one's throat.

"Are you hurt? Maybe we should take you to the infirmary."

"N-No… I'm ok…" She says between her hiccupping tears.

"If you say so. Why don't you come with us?" He offers.

"No." Akira answers plainly.

"Oh come on. You two need bonding time anyway. She won't get that really until Monday. Come on." He helps Anna to her feet. "My name is Shiro."

"Hi…" She smiles shyly. "M-My name is Anastasia… but most call me Anna."

"Nice to meet you Anna. Come on, lets get going." She nods and follows. Akira huffs and follows. They find their way to the factory. Shiro pauses at the ropes, getting shaky legs. Akira places a hand on his back.

"It's ok, Ro. Just grab the rope, close your eyes, and slowly slide down. You're going to be ok. I can go down first." He nods softly. Akira grabs a rope and slides down. Anna follows after her. Shiro grabs the rope and closes his eyes tight, sliding down. "There you go. Halfway down. You're doing great." He reaches the bottom, taking a moment before he opens his eyes. "See? That wasn't so bad." She turns around, seeing the elevator. She walks over to it and steps in. "What do you think? Shall we go down?" Shiro follows her. Anna hesitates before entering. The door shuts before they go down. Anna clings to Akira out of instinct. Akira glares, Anna lets her go, mumbling an apology. The door opens and they see the computer room.

"What is all this?" Akira asks.

"I honestly have no idea, but it's cool!" Dimitri says, obviously very excited. "It's some game called Lyoko, I found a program where you can enter the game itself using these capsules down on the level below."

"Well, that's straight out of science fiction." Akira states sarcastically.

"Let's try it out!" Shiro suggests excitedly.

"What if it's dangerous? Are you sure you know what you're doing?" Akira asks. She has a point…

"I'm pretty sure. It's rather self-explanatory. It transfers your biolo-" Dimitri is cut off but Akira.

"Stop right there. Nerd-speak is a language we don't know." Akira says. Dimitri sighs.

"You can be such a bitch sometimes, you know that?" He calls her out.

"Yep!" She agrees with pride.

"Ok, you enter the capsule, I enter the program, you're transferred to the virtual world, Lyoko. Is that better?"

"Yes. If you need a guinea pig…" She gestures to Anna. She tenses immediately.

"No. You said it could be dangerous. She's just a kid!" Shiro debates immediately.

"She's in our grade. We're all kids!" Akira retorts.

"I-I can do it…" Anna speaks softly.

"There, you see?" Akira smiles in triumph.

"Anna, you don't have to do this if you don't want to. Aki's just being mean." Shiro explains.

"N-No, I'll do it. Where are the capsules…?" She asks. Dimitri stands and walks to the elevator, gesturing for them to follow. When the door shuts, Anna clings again, this time to Shiro. He looks at her and smiles softly, trying to mentally assure her that everything will be alright. They go down a level. The door opens to the capsule room.

"Choose one and go in, ok?" Dimitri says. She nods and walks over to them, she steps into one. Shiro's hands ball up into fists. He steps out of the lift quickly before the doors shut.

"I'm going too!"

"Shiro!" Akira shouts for him, but can't run after him, they're already going up. Dimitri goes back to the computer and starts to work on the program, putting headphones on.

"We're ready!" Shiro shouts up.

"Ok!" He starts typing. Akira watches, her heart racing, she's so terrified for her brother. "Transfer Anna, Transfer Shiro…" The doors shut, Anna immediately feels a tightness in her chest. She closes her eyes, breathing in and out. She whimpers a bit. She hears the scanner come to life and she opens her eyes and starts to panic, banging on the scanner door.

"Let me out! I don't wanna do this now! Please!" She screams. Dimitri doesn't know how to stop the process, and can't hear her either. She starts crying, trying to open the scanner, but of course she can't get it open.

"Are the prompts really necessary?" Akira asks. Dimitri doesn't reply to her.

"Scanner Anna. Scanner Shiro… Virtualization." He presses one last button. There's a blast of wind and everything changes. They appear on Dimitri's screen, on some strange land. A bubble-like hologram pops up in the middle area of the room itself. "Whoa… This is amazing! Guys, can you hear me?" He asks. There's silence for an uncomfortable amount of time. "Guys?!"

"This is incredible!" Shiro shouts. He looks around a desert-like place. "It's like we're in the Sahara!" He looks over to Anna. She's looking over herself.

"I'm… A cat…?"

"A big purple cat. Hey! The Cheshire cat!"

"We're all mad here!" Akira says, Shiro saying it at the same time.

"So, you two are safe. Thank goodness." Dimitri says to them. Shiro looks over himself, he has black, red, and white for his colors, and a katana at his side. He draws it and slashes it around.

"Ooooh, I like this. I'm a samurai. Just call me Ronin!" He laughs to himself.

"But you're not a lone Samurai, you have Anna there." Akira says. Shiro receives a sudden hit to his back. He staggers forward, but regains his footing.

"What the hell?!" He turns. Giant bees are flying at them. "What are those!?"

"Whatever they are, they're showing up as red, so they're probably enemies. You better get out of there!" Dimitri says. The two start running away.

"What do we do now?! We can't keep running!" Shiro shouts.

"Just… keep going! There's some sort of tower nearby, go to it, maybe it's base!" The two keep running. On the screen, they show up as two green arrows. Akira turns and starts running to the elevator.

"Send me in, Dimitri! I need to help them!" She's taken down to the scanner room and steps inside one.

"Ok, uh… Transfer Akira. Scanner Akira. Virtualization." He presses the final button. She materializes into the "Game", falling on her butt like the other two had when they entered. She doesn't have time to check herself out, trying to catch up to the others.

"Hey! I found a program for vehicles!" He starts typing away.

"Well then hurry up with them!" A strange board appears in front of Akira. She doesn't know how to describe it, but she climbs on and grabs the handles. It starts flying. She struggles to control it, it moving from side to side, she struggles to keep her balance. She sees the two and flies to them. The giant bees see her, two fly off to attack her. She dodges their fire and flies up. She gets an idea and lures them over to the other bees, flying above. The bees shoot at her. She moves out of the way just in time for the stinger to hit the other bee right in the back. She doesn't get the chance to celebrate as another stinger hits her ride and she starts to fall. She plops on the ground, rolling hard, it manages to knock her out. Her arm drapes over the edge of the sector. The other two stop and turn around, they start running to her. Anna is hit in the leg, it causes her to stagger for a moment, but she ignores the initial pain from it and continues on, standing in front of Akira to take the hits herself, but puts her arms up instinctively as the stingers nearly reach her. A big, purple, translucent shield appears in front of her, taking the hits. Shiro is surprised, but takes cover behind it. He kneels and shakes his sister.

"Akira! Wake up!" She slowly comes to. Blinking a couple of times.

"What happened…?"

"You fell down and were knocked out. Come on! We need to get to the tower." Akira nods and gets up, seeing Anna shielding them. Akira feels something slip out from behind her and drop. She turns and sees what looks like a stick, upon picking it up, she realizes it's an ornate, metal-like fan.

"What the…?" A memory comes to her of a video game she and her brother would play where a character had two giant fan and attacked her enemies with them, sometimes even throwing them. She throws the fan and it hits the hornets, both of them. "Yes!"

"Nice shot!" Shiro celebrates. Akira manages to catch it. "Let's get to the tower!" The three start running, finally reaching the tower. They sit down, catching themselves up on what they just saw.

"That was nuts…" Akira states.

"Yea… I don't know if I want to keep playing this. That was terrifying!" Shiro replies.

"How do we even beat this?!" Akira asks, Dimitri gets to work to find the answer. She looks to Anna, smiling a little. "Thank you for your help, I might have been a goner if not for you." Anna smiles shyly. Shiro smiles at the two, he then stands up, but his foot slips, he starts to fall down the tower. "Shiro!" They can only watch helplessly as he disappears into the darkness, not grabbing him in time. "No!" Akira would cry if the game allowed her. There's silence for several seconds.

"It… It's ok! He's on some other map! Jump down!" Without another thought, Anna jumps down. Akira jumps milliseconds after. They appear in another tower and leave it, stepping out to some sort of forest.

"Now this is more like it! I love trees!" Akira says. Shiro is just outside. Dimitri sends them vehicles. Shiro grabs the bike-looking one. Anna tests this hovering board one, sitting on it first.

"This is kinda nice…" Her eyes go blank for a second.

"Hey…" Akira notices, tries to get her attention. Anna's eyes slide closed and she sways down a bit, but her eyes snap open, she blinks a couple of times, confused.

"Are you alright?" Shiro asks.

"I know how we win…" She mumbles. "W-We need someone named Dimitri… We have to find a red tower and he needs to touch the screen."

"How do you know that?" The twins ask in unison.

"I saw some strange vision…" She climbs up onto the board. "Follow me. The tower is here." Akira climbs on the last vehicle with hesitation. Anna starts to fly off, leading the way. Though more bees arrive to attack them. Anna puts up her shield. Shiro uses his sword to deflect the hits and Akira uses her fan, but more bees arrive from behind. Akira is hit in the back and disappears in blue flakes.

"Aki!" Shiro shouts. A stinger manages to hit Shiro in the chest and he too disappears, falling backwards off the bike. The bike falls over, sliding into a tree. Anna is left on her own, but not for long. She too disappears in blue flakes when hit in the stomach. "Ow… ow… God this hurts…" Shiro mumbles, holding his chest.

"We're alive though…" Akira says, rubbing her back. Anna lies on the ground, dizzy, breathing in and out deeply to try and keep from throwing up.

"I think I'm gonna puke…" She starts crying from her pain.

"We lost…" Shiro mumbles, getting to his feet, helping Akira up. Both help Anna up. They head back up to Dimitri.

"Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained." Dimitri points out. "Let's all get some rest and try again tomorrow after school. We only have two classes tomorrow." He gets up and joins them in the elevator.

"I'm definitely ready for bed. What time even is it?" Akira asks, grabbing her phone. "It's already seven-thirty!"

"We're missing dinner…?" Anna asks, whimpering. "I can't sleep on an empty stomach…" There's a ringing. She grabs her phone and answers it. "Hello?"

"WHERE ARE YOU?!" A voice shouts. She pulls her ear away.

"I-I'm sorry, brother… I-I was hanging out with friends. We were playing a video game and I didn't hear my phone until now…"

"So long as you're ok… Where are you right now?"

"I'm heading back to the school now…"

"Ann… I didn't ask that. I asked where you are right now."

"I'm… At a friend's house." Akira grabs her phone.

"Hey there, this is Akira. I'm Anna's roommate, she's over with me at my parents' house. I go home on the weekends, so I thought to invite her over to not only show her where it is, but to hang out, play some video games. It's ok. She's in good, safe hands."

"Ok… Please give the phone back to her." Akira hands the phone back.

"Hello?"

"Ann, please tell me next time of where you're going, I was having a panic attack!"

"I'm sorry… I'll remember for next time… I guess I was just excited to… well… you know…"

"Right… Well, I'll get you something to eat, you've practically missed dinner. See you soon, ok?"

"Ok. Ti amo! I love you!"

"Ti amo, sorella. I love you, sister." They both hang up. Anna sighs softly, putting her phone away.

"Thanks for your help…" Anna says softly, of course still rather shy.

"Yep. You help me, I help you. That's the way it goes." Anna nods in understanding, smiling a little.

"Maybe Akira isn't so bad…" Anna thinks.
