Disclaimer : I still do not own the character nor the show…And I do not own the pieces of you might recognize in this chapter.

On a side note, I just wanted to say that I'm writing this because my brain seems to be Station19-Surrera-driven…Can't stop thinking about them, or the whole show…I just have this compulsory need to write my ideas down…So here's the start of a new story… And I'm not familiar with the medical world (or the firefighting one, for that matter), so I didn't try to be too realistic, I just wanted to have some fun and turn my ideas into words. Hope you'll enjoy anyway…So here it goes…

From the moment he had brought the radio to the table, Pruitt felt nervous. When he heard his daughter's voice saying that they were trapped, he got up immediately. He knew his daughter, and from the sound of her voice, he knew she wasn't joking. She sounded terrified.

It only took him a few minutes to get to the scene. He quickly spotted Maya, standing next to the chief's car.

"What's going on Bishop?" he asked, stopping in front of her.

"They're trapped sir. And Chief Sullivan just…" She took a deep breath. "He went into the fire, sir. Without any back up… He handed me command, but my whole team is in there, and I don't know how to get them out." She admitted, knowing that she could trust her former captain.

Pruitt Herrera sighed. He was glad his daughter had married Robert. He really was a good man, but now that he was his son-in-law, it just added more stress to his already high stress level. At least, it erased any remaining doubts he had. Andy and Robert were made to be together. Chasing the thought away, he focused on Maya.

"I heard over the radio that you had 23 working on a wall…Is it working?"

"I…I'm going to radio them." She said, grabbing the radio on her shoulder. She waited a few minutes for an answer.

"It doesn't look like it's working!" someone finally told her.

Bishop knew that Pruitt had heard everything, so she simply looked at him.

"Ok, bring the ladder." He declared.

"No, sir! Whoever vents that roof will fall in." she stated.

He was about to reply when the radio crackled.

"We've got a breach!" someone yelled.

Maya breathed a sigh of relief. "I'm not pulling that ladder into position sir."

"How is it looking?" she radioed back.

"We managed to get through the wall. Smoke is starting to come out, we're trying to widen the breach now!"

Herrera and Bishop stood there, next to the truck, eyes fixed on the door. They hoped to see that door open, finally letting out their family. The wait was long, and Pruitt could sense the waves of worry radiating from her.

"You made a good call, Bishop. If 23 says it's working, we have no choice but to believe that what they're saying is true. Give them some time, you know the smoke has to clear a little first. They won't come out right away."

Maya nodded in answer. She knew he was right, but she couldn't help but worry. Her team's lives were on the line. She was supposed to be in charge, but at the same time she was glad to have Pruitt Herrera standing next to her, supporting her.

"Thank you, sir" she told him, eyes still trained on the door.

They waited a few more excruciating minutes before the door finally opened. Emmett and Travis were the first ones out, quickly followed by Jack and Dean. The four boys took a few steps away from the door before letting themselves fall to the ground. They were exhausted and in dire need of fresh air. Andy and Robert were the last ones to exit and, right away, Pruitt noticed that something was wrong. Sullivan was leaning heavily on his daughter, coughing madly. He moved to Sullivan's other side, taking some of his weigh off Andy's shoulder. They made their way to the closest truck, far enough away from the burning building before lowering Sullivan to the ground. Andy sagged against the vehicle, letting herself slide down to the concrete, next to her husband. Worried, Pruitt looked around for a medic. Most of them were already giving oxygen to the other members of the team, but he spotted Ben as he got out of his truck.

"Warren!" he called out to him. "We need help over here!"

Warren ran to them, covering Andy's face with an oxygen mask before focusing on the chief.

"Chief?" Warren said, trying to gain his attention. He only had a cough in answer. He grabbed the second oxygen tank and put the mask over the chief's face.

"We…We were starting to lack oxygen in there. His leg…" Andy coughed so she put the mask back over her nose. Unable to finish her sentence, she pleadingly looked at her father, begging him to do something.

"Let's get all of you to the hospital. You should get checked out." He declared. Since he was technically retired and not on duty, he motioned at Bishop to make the call.

Consequently, Maya radioed the 23's captain, asking him if he could take over, her whole team being down. Of course, he accepted right away. She thanked him and went to a truck, following her friends to Grey-Sloan.

As soon as they arrived, Sullivan was rushed inside. He still had too much trouble breathing, his leg not helping the matter. The others walked in right behind him, each one having someone to take care of them.

Andy was restlessly sitting on a bed. She was trying to take off her oxygen mask, but her father kept putting it back in place.

"But dad…" she started, but he shushed her, once again placing the mask on her face.

"Just wait a few more minutes. I asked for an update barely two minutes ago, I'm pretty sure not much has changed. You're almost done, we'll go check on him later." He reassured. He knew she was worried about Sullivan, but she wouldn't help anyone if she didn't let herself be treated too. So here she was, staring back at him. He could clearly see that she was worried sick, and well…angry at him, so he squeezed her hand in reassurance.

One by one, the firefighters met in the waiting room. Andy was the last one to enter. She sat in an empty chair, between Maya and Vic.

"Are you ok?" Vic asked.

"I'm fine." She said curtly.

Not daring to say another word, they all turned to look at Pruitt who simply shrugged in answer. He couldn't control his daughter after all.

They sat there in silence for some time. Finally, the doctor came to them.

"You're all here for Chief Sullivan?" he asked. They all nodded in answer, getting up to get closer to the doctor. "Well, is there any family member coming soon?"

"We're his family." Jack stated.

"I don't mean to offend you, but I need to talk to an actual family member."

They all stared at him.

"Gibson just told you. . ." Maya insisted.

"Alright, I need a legal family member. Is that clearer?" The doctor was starting to lose patience.

Andy, who had stayed silent until then decided that she had heard enough.

"We're a family, now would you just, please, tell us how my husband is doing?"

"Andrea…" her father said in a low voice.

"What?!" exclaimed Travis, Jack and Vic at the same time.

Andy turned to look at him, and when she saw everyone's look of surprise, her mouth formed a small "o". She would have some explaining to do…But it would have to wait. First things first, she wanted to know if her husband was going to be ok. So, ignoring her friends, she turned back to the doctor.

"Chief Sullivan will be fine. We gave him something for the pain in his leg…"

"He can't, I mean…" Andy started interrupting the doctor.

"I know. I've read his file. It's just something lighter so that he could concentrate on his breathing. He's pretty adamant about not staying here overnight, so we're letting him go…But please drive him back here if he has trouble breathing or anything…"

"But…Is it even safe for him to come home?" Andy asked worriedly.

"Yes. He inhaled a lot of smoke, but he should be fine."

"We all inhaled smoke. Most of us were out of oxygen for quite some time." Gibson said.

"I can't really explain it. His lungs just had a hard time dealing with the inhalations." The doctor tried to explain.

"Can we see him?"

The doctor nodded. He was about to say that they couldn't all go, but figured it was useless.

When they arrived in the room, the doctor told Sullivan that he would be back with a few forms for him to fill before leaving the hospital. He checked a few things on the chart and left.

Andy was instantly by his side, taking his hand in hers.

"You had us all worried." She declared. Surprised by her touch, he looked questioningly at her, then back at their joined hands, and finally he glanced at Pruitt. He had clearly missed something.

"She was really worried, son" explained the retired firefighter.

"Oh…So…" he looked back at his wife.

"I might have let it slip that you were my husband…"

"You mean, you weren't joking back there?" exclaimed Vic.

"No." Andy replied, shaking her head. She was blushing furiously. Robert could feel her hand shaking a little. He ran his thumb along her knuckles trying to ease her nerves.

"What?" "Oh man!" Dean and Jack exclaimed simultaneously.

"How come we didn't see that coming?" Travis mused to himself. "Why are you so quiet? Did you already know?" he then asked Maya, who had stayed quiet the whole time.

"I didn't…Did you?" she turned to Warren. He shook his head in answer and looked at Pruitt.

"You knew though, right cap?" he said.

"Well…She's my daughter" Herrera pointed out.

"Ok guys." Andy spoke up. "We'll answer all your questions, but once we're out of this place."

"You have so much explaining to do girl." Vic stated, pointing a finger at her. Feeling uncomfortable, Andy decided to ignore her friend, focusing on Sullivan instead.

"Are you sure you're ok to leave?" she asked him worriedly.

"Yeah I'm good." He squeezed her hand. "Just waiting for the doc to bring the papers and we're good to go."

Just as he finished his sentence, a nurse arrived with the discharge forms. The team cleared the room, leaving their chief alone with his wife and father-in-law.

"I think you'll have a lot to answer to." Pruitt stated. "I'll wait for you outside." He added, closing the door behind him.

Andy and Robert looked at each other. Since he was sitting on the bed, Sullivan was at eye level with Andy. He pulled on her hand, bringing her to stand between his legs. Now that she was close enough, he kissed her lips gently.

"I'm sorry I got you worried. I'm fine."

"That's what the doc said. Never do that again though…" she kissed him once. "Remember what I told you earlier?" At his confused look, she continued, "There's going to be so much yelling…and cursing… When we're home."

"I know." He smiled at her. "But we do have to explain a few things to your friends, now you let the cat out of the bag."

"It's your fault!" she was offended. "I was worried, and the doc was insisting on talking to a 'legal family member'' she explained, mocking the doctor's voice.

"It's going to be ok, Andy" Robert laughed. "We checked the box in the HR form, so it was only a matter of time before they found out anyway."

"At least, I'm the one who told them…" sighed Andy, resting her forehead against her husband's.

Kissing her once on the lips, once on the nose, Sullivan got up, wrapping his arms around her body.

"Come on, let's go face them."

Andy nodded her answer. She was so not ready for this. Knowing her friends, they would grill them until both she and Robert would be too tired to dodge the annoying questions. She groaned internally, following Robert out of the room. "Here goes nothing" she thought, though she was petrified inside.
