Cindel had come into New York for a week. It was Easter and Wyatt wanted Cindel to come down to meet the family.

Cindel met up with Bruce and Steve for lunch. Walking down the sidewalk to the restaurant. "Is Wyatt aware you don't celebrate Easter?" Steve asked.

"It's not easy telling people you don't celebrate a pagan fertility holiday the Christians got from the Anglo Saxons."

"You had no problem telling us." Bruce sidestepped a person who zoomed passed them mumbling to himself.

Looking over her shoulder at the guy. "Little easier telling that to Captain America and the Hulk." Looking back over at them.

"What are you going to tell his parents?" Steve asked her.

"The same thing I told him. Easter was never a big deal in my household, we stop really celebrating it when I got older because there were no more children once I grew up."

Steve held open the door once they got to the restaurant. "Let's hope things don't get too serious. I don't think he'll be able to handle your world."

"Why do you say that?"

The door closed behind Bruce. "Let's see, for starters who we really are." Pointing to him and Steve. "Than the part where you were working for S.H.I.E.L.D. not to mention, again, who you really are."

"Also I'm having a tough time and I'm in this world with you," Steve added.

After telling the hostess three people Cindel looked over her shoulder. "What's wrong?" Bruce asked when he saw her.

"Ever since I got here yesterday I've felt like I'm being watched. And the crazy part is I feel like it's Loki who is following me."

"Weird." Steve took his seat at the table.

The others doing the same. "I think I spent to much time with him."

"Maybe it's the necklace that's making you feel like that," Bruce suggested.

Look down at it, which shined but not nearly as bright as it did on Asgard. Cindel when returned to earth located a duplicate of the lips Wyatt gave her and hung it on the necklace with the star.

"I hate him….oh hey, I've been meaning to ask to see if it was just me but, has Wyatt been acting a little weird lately?"

"No." They both answered.

Arching her eyebrows. "Guys don't lie to me."

"Seriously, we haven't noticed a thing. Why do you ask?" Steve held up his hands.

"He seems different. Twice he's canceled the day of where he'd come to see me. And when we are together things seem off. Like he's not really there with me." Waving it off. "You know what never mind. I am being silly."

Bruce was looking over the menu. "He probably doesn't know what to do now that he can see you more than one weekend a month."

"You know what, you are right Bruce." Feeling better about the situation.

The three had a long lunch of chatter and laughter. It was fun as always to get together and not have anything to worry about. For that brief moment, the three of them had not a care in the world.

"You guys don't have to be anywhere the rest of the day do you?" Cindel asked as they left the restaurant hours later.

"Were free, why?" Steve asked.

Moving in between the two. "Well, I don't have anything planned, would you like to hang out the rest of the day?"

Steve and Bruce were waiting outside a shop Cindel had run into to pick something up for Wyatt's parents as an Easter gift.

"I think Loki did something to that necklace. Something more than being unable to remove it." Steve finally said.

Looking at the store Cindel had gone into. "I think you are right. It's just what did he do to it?"

"You think it could be something like while he's on Asgard he can watch her here on Earth." Suggested Steve.

"It's a good idea but what's the purpose of him doing that? He clearly doesn't care for her."

Holding up a finger. "Maybe that's what he wants us to think. Maybe the time he spent with her he ended up liking her."

"This is Loki we are talking about."

Steve motioned to Cindel. "If you remember we thought she was annoying when we first met her. Look at us now."

"True, but we're not a power-hungry God."

"My ears are burning, you must be talking about me." Cindel walked out with a bag in her left hand.

"How'd you know?" Asked Steve.

Shrugging her right shoulder. "I didn't, I was just being silly. What were you two saying about me?"

"How weird it is you are celebrating a holiday you don't believe in," Bruce answered.

Cindel shook her head. "Fine don't tell me."

Cindel was crashing at Steve's place while she was in town. It was his turn. "Hey, how does this look for an Easter gathering?" Cindel came out of the bathroom in a light green sundress that came to her knees. The dress was sleeveless with white trim along the sleeves, collar, and the bottom of the dress.

"Gathering?" Bruce looked up from his magazine.

"I don't know exactly what the hell it is. They hunt for eggs, eat lunch, or whatever, play games than dinner. What do you call it?"

"Gathering it is then." He smiled.

Holding out her arms some "So? What is the verdict?" Twirling around.

The two looked at her. "Looks good for an anti-Easter kind of person."

"Hey! I don't judge you for your beliefs, Steve."

Holding up his hands. "Sorry."

"Apology accepted. Now if I can get through this day without upsetting many people, I'll be golden." Cindel smoothed out her dress.

Bruce closed the magazine he was reading. "Why aren't you at church?"

"What?" She looked over at him.

"People attend church for Easter. If you are celebrating Easter with Wyatt and his family. Shouldn't you be at church with them?"

Running her fingers through her hair a few times. "Part of me doing Easter with Wyatt I told him I am not attending church when he brought it up."

Steve was getting his drink off the coffee table. "What did he say when you told him that?"

"He said ok. Which is odd because most people ask why I don't go to church. Then silly me got word vomit and asked why he didn't ask why I didn't want to attend church. And he answered that it wasn't his place to tell people who don't go to go."

Finishing his drink. "Why don't you?"

"Church is for those who believe in such things." Hearing a knock on the door. "Shouldn't the question be though, why aren't you at church?" Heading for the door.

"I'm going this afternoon," Steve said as she said bye to them both.

Wyatt's family was having their family Easter on one of his cousin's farm. It was the only place that had the room for everyone and all the games they had planned.

Wyatt's parents found Cindel charming and very sweet. Especially since she brought a present.

Coming back with two drinks. "I have to say, you are the first person I've introduced to my parents that have won them over this quickly." Handing one of the drinks to her.

"You bring a lot of girls home to your parents?" Gulping her drink.

Sitting next to her. "Only the ones I really like. The others I hide under my bed."

"I thought so." She laughed.

Later that day Cindel was talking with one of Wyatt's cousins when he showed up. "Come on."

"Why?" Standing up.

Taking her hand. "The three-legged race."

"I'm not so good with that game."

"Don't worry, I got this."

Letting him guide her to where the game was. "You better."

As Wyatt tied their legs together he began talking about what they should do. "We'll start without outside legs first."

"Just like a guy. Always talking strategy." Cindel joked.

"What can I say? We like to win."

Everyone got to their places. As soon as go was called out everyone took off. The two took large steps as fast as they could.

The first place changed constantly with someone always taking the lead every few seconds. Everyone seemed to be evenly matched.

Getting closer to the finish line everyone scrambled harder to get first place. Wyatt and Cindel were in second place inches from being in the first place as they crossed the line.

Falling to the ground. "We were so close," Cindel growled with a laugh.

"You did well for someone who claims they are not good at this." Reaching to untie them.

"Thanks. Are there any more games you have volunteered us for?" Cindel got up, brushing herself off as she spoke.

Getting up himself. "No just the three-legged race. It's my favorite."

"Than it was my pleasure to be a part of it." Cindel smiled linking arms with his.

"What do you want to do now?" Asked Wyatt.

Cindel thought for a second. "Let's watch some of the other games. I've never been to one of these before." She suggested.

"Sounds good to me."

People were still gathered around the dinner table even after they were to full to eat anymore. People stilled picked at their plates as they laughed and reminisced. The children, as usual, couldn't sit still and be granted permission to go play an hour after they had started eating.

Wyatt leaned over to Cindel whispering in her ear. "Come on." Taking her hand the two left unnoticed.

"Where are we going?"

Leading her away from everyone. "You have probably noticed I've been acting weird lately and I have an excellent reason why."

"Really?" Cindel's stomach knotted as she and Wyatt made their way to the willow tree that sat by the nearby pond.

Cindel's cell phone rang. "I was just about to call you and Steve. I need a….."

"Loki escaped." Bruce interrupted her.

"Shit, I know where to find him." Cindel motioned for a cab.

Wyatt was deep in thought as he walked into his apartment. "So you are the human that Cindel is seeing. I assumed you'd be taller." Looking him up and down. "And better looking."

"Who are you? And what are you doing in my apartment?" Slowly pointing at him as it dawned on him. "How do you know Cindel?"

Taking a few steps left before turning right and doing the same thing. "I'm Loki of Asgard…"

Cindel busted through the door with Bruce and Steve hot on her tail. "Loki what do you think you are doing?"

"This is the guy you told me about? I thought you were lying?" Wyatt gasped.

"You told him?!" Steve and Bruce said in unison.

"Boy do I feel special" Smirked Loki

Cindel's head-shot to him. "Shut the hell up Loki for five minutes." Turning to the others. "I did tell Wyatt. I had to, he asked me to marry him."

"What else did you tell him?" Bruce asked slowly and calmly.

"Everything."

"What was your answer?" Steve asked.

Scratching at her head. "He didn't let me answer. He walked away from me when I told him everything."

"That's a good way to chase her away. Granted it really doesn't matter, she doesn't even like you." Loki spoke.

"Why are you here? You are supposed to be in jail on Asgard. Not here making things worse."

Taking a few steps towards them. "You know why I'm here."

"I knew it! You are sleeping with him. Why else would you wait till now to tell me?" Wyatt threw at her.

Cindel gasped as Loki quickly wrapped a hand around Wyatt's neck. His hands gripped Loki's wrist as he struggled for air. Wyatt felt his body being lifted a few inches off the floor.

"Loki set Wyatt down now…scratch that. Set Wyatt down gently and on the floor unscathed." Cindel requested.

His eyes went from Wyatt over to Cindel. "Why? This insignificant human being was to be nothing more to you than a lay. Tell me I'm wrong?" When she didn't say anything he smiled. "See Wyatt. She doesn't feel the same as you do. She doesn't want to marry you. Your relationship was nothing but a facade. Something to entertain her."

"Loki stop this now. Whatever you're mad about take it out on me. Leave Wyatt out of it this. He doesn't deserve this."

"You are right, he doesn't. He doesn't deserve to be strung along by you." Loki quickly snapped Wyatt's neck before letting his body fall to the floor.

Cindel held her hands out when Steve and Bruce went to go after Loki. "Now why would you do that? We've talked about this. You can't kill people because their lives don't matter to you."

"Cindel," Bruce said when she took a few steps forward. She waved him off.

"Why does his life matter? He loved you and wanted to marry you. How do you repay him? You string him along making him feel worthy of your love. When in all hindsight, he was never worthy of it, to begin with."

Pointing at the lifeless body at his feet. "That man deserves the world. He deserves to have his life. You don't have the right to decide who lives and who dies. You don't have the right to take such a thing from anyone."

"I can do whatever I want, I'm a God."

When Loki took a step forward Cindel quickly stepped back. "I highly suggest you don't get any closer than you already are. You are treading on thin ice right now after what you have done to Wyatt."

"I'd listen to her," Bruce told Loki.

"What can you do to me? You are nothing but a weak human to me."

Loki quickly moved to wrap his hand around Cindel's neck. The second his hand squeezed Loki flew across the room. Cindel not moving from her position raised her hand which caused Loki to be lifted off the floor. Slamming him against the wall a few times. His screams quickly began filling the room as he felt his insides were being set on fire as well as torn apart very slowly by tiny sharp knives all rolled up in one.

Bruce turned into the Hulk before grabbing a hold of Cindel. Loki's limp body fell to the floor when Steve stuck a needle in Cindel's neck, emptying the contents into her.

Loki jerked awake to find himself lying in bed in a jail cell. He quickly realized where he was, recognizing the inside of the S.H.I.E.L.D. cell all too well.

Thor came into view. "You are lucky Cindel didn't kill you. You should thank Bruce and Steve for that."

There was some pain as he sat up. "Why should I do that?"

"They were the only two capable of stopping her."

"How is it even possible that she was capable of doing such a thing to me?"

"I can not say."

Clenching his jaw "Why?" He growled.

"Because she requested to tell you herself. Until then, you will stay here. After that, you are to return to Asgard with me."

"When do I get to speak with her?"

"As soon as she wakes up." Bruce approached.

Looking over at him. "When will that be?"

"You've been out for two days. And I've given her enough of the serum Cindel gave me a while back to kill eight blue whales, a few t-rex's, some woolly mammoths, an elephant or two and the entire human race. So another day or two, maybe longer." Loki watched Bruce walk across the room to another cell.

Cindel was strapped to a bed in the middle of a cell hooked up to a few things. Steve was sitting by the bed reading when Bruce went into the cell. Loki watched as the two exchanged a few words.

When Thor realized his brother had stopped listening to him he left. Loki stood by the window just staring at Cindel, watching her. His gaze never leaving her. If Loki was fatigued in any way, he wasn't showing it.

Finally, after almost a day Loki moved. Grabbing the apple on the tray of cold food left for him, he bit into it as he took a seat on his bed. It wasn't till then did he start feeling sore. The paint of what Cindel did to him was nothing he had ever felt before. It was the first time he felt fear. Actual agonizing terror of knowing that he wasn't going to come out of this alive. That someone held his life in their hands and could easily snuff it out like a simple human's life.

"I'm sorry." Loki looked up to see Cindel standing before him. "I'm sorry that the situation came to me hurting you so severely."

Taking another bite of the apple. "You were going to kill me."

"That I am not sorry about, you deserved it." Cindel looked down at her feet.

"How was that even possible? You, you are a simple human."

Rubbing her eyes Cindel took a deep breath. "I never exactly said I was a human. The entire time I was with you it never left my mouth. You just assumed because I lived on earth I was. No one was ever supposed to know about me. The situation I had with S.H.I.E.L.D. sucked but it worked till your sorry ass showed up. It was my fault for saying yes to fixing you but they said if I did, I'd never have to spend another weekend once a year in jail. Then once you got under my skin and I felt that anger I hadn't felt in a very, very long time, return. I knew I need to leave for good…."

"Does this have a point?"

"It does. Have you ever heard of Eris?"

Tossing the apple aside. "No."

"Well, Eris was kind of before your time. And the way Odin feels is no surprise you don't know. Eris is the Greek Goddess of strife and discord. She would thrive off of battle and bloodshed. Though she was cursed for her powers, they were drugs to her and the more they were used the worse she had gotten. It got so bad that she didn't see things clearly and couldn't because the drugs put her brain in a fog. Eris killed so many people the number was unclear. When killing humans became boring for her, Eris went to killing Gods. Greek, Aztec even a few Nordic." Loki's eyes shot to her. "She tortured many Gods listening to them beg for mercy one by one. For hours and days because it was fun and amusing to her. Enjoying every moment of the drug-filled tortured haze of taking lives. No matter who they were. Knowing they could do nothing about it as each life was taken." Loki saw something he'd never seen before in her. A mix of rage and glee. "Its been so long since I have been called Eris. You never know how much you miss your name until you no longer are called it."

Loki got up from his bed. "You are a Goddess." He said slowly more out of shock than anything else. The shock that she enjoyed the same thing's he did and she was someone of power as well.

"Eris the Murdering Goddess of her kind. And you brought it back out in me and I hate you so much for it. I killed people and will spend eternity making something up that never can be met. That urge to use my powers has returned which is awful."

"Why? Why is that a bad thing? You are a powerful being and you hide it. You can make people respect and fear you."

Cindel looked at Loki in utter disappointment. "You don't get it. My powers are bad for me. I don't get to use mine all willy-nilly as you do. They are like taking powerful drugs that overcome me. I have no recollection of what I have done, the people I have hurt. I get no control over what happens. It wasn't till after what I have done and my head was clear did I start realizing what I did and how the guilt is and forever will eat me alive. When I walked into the room Odin was in, part of me wanted him to kill me right there. He wanted to so bad, you could see it in his eyes. But your needs were more important to him than his."

"He is a weak man."

"Who do you think was the fucker that took me down?"

Loki arched his eyebrow at her. "What's stopping you from killing me now?"

"Because after I am done here, Cindel is going to die."

"I don't follow."

"After I stopped working to fix you I went to Bruce and Steve. I felt myself slipping. Bruce helped me come up with a plan since I can no longer control my urges to not use my powers. I am going to use it like insulin and I'll take it every day. But since my life as Cindel is compromised because someone had to go kill the guy I was seeing, I have to start a new one. Which means S.H.I.E.L.D. wipes my memory of Cindel and gives me a new one."

Anger filled Loki. "You let them do that!"

"They can't normally, I have to permit them. But years ago a doctor found a way to give me a new life and erase the old one so I couldn't mix old lives. Each person I have been having to be killed every so often because I don't age. But because I am a God not everything is erased."

Taking a pace around his cell. "But?"

"But before I go I wanted to tell you something. I don't think I should say anything because neither one of us deserves to be happy with what we've done. But you deserve to know that I have fallen in love with you. It happened the moment you disagreed with me on The Great Gatsby….."

Cindel stumbled back till her back was pressed up against a wall. Loki had cupped her face pressing his lips fiercely onto hers. Cindel's hands went to his hips when she began kissing back.

Bruce and Steve walked into the room only to spin around leaving the room instantly. "Did we just see what think we just saw?" Steve looked over at Bruce.

"Looks like she woke up sooner than we thought."

"And in better condition."

"We better stay here so no one interrupts them," Bruce suggested.

Steve looked over at him. "How'd she get in their anyways?"

"She knows the codes. The drugs we injected in her has some stuff to keep her need to use her powers down for about one more day." Catching the face Steve made when he told him about the codes. "She'll be fine."

Cindel had wrapped her hands around Loki's neck for support when she lifted her legs to wrap around his waist. Loki's hands gripped Cindel's waist feeling her legs squeeze tightly around him.

It wasn't till Loki reached up Cindel's shirt did she stop him. "We need to stop." Unwrapping her legs she moved away from him. "I asked Bruce to do the same thing to you as he will be doing for me. If you so choose it. Give yourself a new life if you want it." She said softly.

"You want me to let S.H.I.E.L.D. and those people erase me! Never."

"Figured you would love your power over anything else." Cindel went over kissing his cheek. "You need to decide which path of love you want. This one right now in this cell, locked up, hated and alone. Or the one with me. Your choice."

Cindel laid on the table the next day. "He is refusing to talk to anyone. He's just staring at the wall." Steve was next to her, looking down at her.

"It will work it's self out."

Placing a hand on hers he squeezed her hand. "You ready?" Bruce walked over.

"As I'll ever be."

He looked up from his book from behind the counter as the ring from the bell above the store door rang. "May I help you?" He smiled at the brunette who was fully dressed in her yoga clothing.

"I see this bookstore every day when I go to work. Finally decided to come in and take a look."

"I've seen you. You own the yoga place across the street." Coming around the counter.

"You wouldn't happen to have a copy of The Great Gatsby would you?"

Motioning for her to follow. "I believe I do."

"That would be amazing. My copy is wearing kind of thin."

Finding one. "I found the book somewhat of a bore." Handing it to her.

"Really?"

"I found Gatsby a fool for loving Daisy the way he did."

Holding the book up. "I think we need to discuss this further over some coffee. If you're not busy right now." She suggested.

"That sounds great. Jay." Holding out his hand.

"Daisy." Shaking it.

Steve and Bruce stood across the street. "I can not believe Loki said yes to this," Steve said.

"Cindel, I mean Daisy called it. She realized he loved her the moment she was with someone else and not him."

A/N: I hope you enjoyed the story. I sure had fun writing it.
