What's up, everyone! This is GKC here bringing you a new X-over between Inuyasha and the Nioh series. I actually wanted to do a project with InuYasha that was crossed with Gundam before but the data I had got deleted when I restarted my computer.

So now I had to replan everything after giving up on it for about two years.

Then a flash of inspiration hit me after playing Nioh 2. You play as a half-demon, you transform into a demon, and it's in Feudal Japan. If that's not related to InuYasha, I don't know what is.

Now for the disclaimer: I do not own, except my OCs, InuYasha or Nioh. All rights belong to their respective owners.

Now let's get this party started… BEGIN!

Chapter 1: A Slayer's Rebirth

Long ago in Feudal Japan, demons and humans lived separated amongst each other since the dawn of time…

These two species were natural-born enemies to one another. Humans feared the monsters that preyed upon them for sport or sustenance while Demons were hunted because of what they are and their power.

However, on one particular starlit night, a phenomenon happened that changed the lives of all creatures of Earth.

Strange yellow stones began to emerge from the cracks of the earth. These stones emitted a wondrous power that changed the course of human history. Around the world, they are called Amrita. In the Far Eastern lands, they call them Spirit Stones.

Countries around the world sought out these stones, using them as resources for trade or power. Some even use the Amrita for personal preferences such as gaining strength beyond that of a normal man or use abilities akin to magic.

In Japan, Amrita was valued by the warlords of all lands but none so more than the demons, who sought out these spiritual stones for power. Yokai spread across the land, slaughtering humans or consuming the power of the Spirit Stones to make themselves stronger. But in the darkness of the demons' onslaught, a light appeared…

Yokai Slayers.

Warriors dedicated to the art of slaying demons. These hunters scoured the lands, stalking different demons and killing them without pity or mercy.

But one day, a forbidden union between a demon slayer and a yokai birthed a new creature, a Shiftling. A half-human, half-yokai that has the appearance of a human and the powers of a demon. No one knows the full name of this warrior, only that they once traveled with Hideyoshi Toyotomi and served under Oda Nobunaga from his rise to power and his inevitable death. Tales of the Shiftling speak of them battling historical warriors of the Sengoku Period such as Azai Nagamasa, Katsuie Shibata, Maede Toshiie, and even Hideyoshi Toyotomi himself. Many powerful warriors and yokai battled this Shiftling but all were defeated by their blade. The Shiftling even defeated two of Japan's greatest yokai, Shuten Doji and the terrible Otakemaru. Throughout all of Japan, the Shiftling became known as the strongest demon slayer in all the lands.

After many years of slaying demons, the Shiftling eventually vanished into the throes of history, never to be heard of again… and all that remained was the dagger they carried on their person.

Time passed and soon Amrita began to decline until one day, in a small village, a jewel filled with supernatural powers akin to Amrita. This jewel was called the Shikon no Tama. Many demons sought out this jewel if only to give themselves more power than they could ever imagine. Men sought it out in a bid to rule the land. However, all have failed as the Shikon no Tama was protected by a priestess with a strong connection to the spirit world. This Miko would be charged with guarding the Shikon no Tama and the Shiftling's dagger.

However, that's where our tale begins… centuries in a time where humans had received the pinnacle of strength…

[Feudal Japan]

It is a time of great and terrible social unrest for a single corner of the world, the feudal era in Japan. Where rogues, bandits, and raging samurai traipse across the countryside unchecked and unchallenged. Very few are safe from the terror of being attacked. Innocent women and children are cut down or raped, villages are burned, blood is spilled, and priceless treasures are stolen without a second thought. But with all periods of time, change is due to come and changes to the feudal era will be catalyzed by a very special group of individuals.

In one of the more peaceful areas of Japan, all is calm as birds sit in their trees singing their songs while farmers work in the fields. All is calm until…

"Stop him! He's getting away!" A voice called out.

A young man with long silver hair, wearing a flowing red robe, and possessing a pair of the most feral-looking yellow eyes that one has ever seen. But it is not these traits that are eye-catching, it's the two dog ears that stand out from the top of his head.

This strange youth runs through a local village, dodging arrows and spears thrown by the villagers with incredible ease, all the while a malicious smirk was plastered on his face. He then leaps at a fantastic height over the armed men, landing on the roof of the local shrine. With an insidious chuckle, the man rears back his fist and with one well-placed strike, plows through the shuffling. Using his sleeve to protect his sensitive nose from the powerful sacred incense that burned inside the temple, the man finds the objects of his desire. A necklace, centered on the thread between several bone-like teeth, is a single purple jewel that shined with a radiance that could rival the sun. Resting in a makeshift scabbard is a strange dagger that glowed with a luminescent yellow light..

Continuing his path, the youth swiftly shot forward, grabbing both the necklace and the dagger, mere seconds before a group of armed men plow through the temple doors and knocked over the incense burners, starting a fire.

With a sneer, the hanyou leaps cleanly through the opposite of the roof, just in the nick of time before the building bursts into flames with a colossal explosion.

He soars through the air, barely breaking a sweat despite all he had done. He greedily clutched the jewel and dagger in his hands. "Heh, at long last," He snarled with a sneer. "The opportunity to become a full demon is finally in my hands." The dog man quickly leaps across the land spanning dozens of feet within a singular jump. But when victory was seemingly within the demon's grasp, someone arose to stop him.

"Inuyasha!" A feminine voice rang out across the courtyard. Standing at the temple gates is a woman, her attire revealing that she is a priestess. With an angry scowl on her face, the woman pulls back the string of her bow, and with a quick eye, releases the cocked arrow at the hanyou.

Her aim struck true, nailing the demon youth in the left shoulder when he leapt in front of a tree. The shock of the impact forces him to drop both the jewel and the dagger while the speed from the projectile pinned him to the tree, a look of pain twisting his face.

The jewel lands on the ground with a soft clink while the dagger spun a bit in the air before sinking into the earth from the tip of the blade.

The man now known as Inuyasha looks at his assailant, a look of confusion gracing his face. "Ki-Kikyo, but I thought ugh-" He closes his eyes and drifts into unconsciousness.

The priestess Kikyo falls to her knees with blood spurting from a deep gash on her shoulder. The various villagers rushed to the aid of the young woman, among them is a little girl with short black hair, wearing an orange kimono, and a bandage wrapped around her right eye.

The girl cries out to the priestess, "Sister Kikyo, sister Kikyo!"

One of the villagers kneels next to the woman. "Milady, that wound-"

The little girl, assumedly Kikyo's sister, finishes the man's thought for him, "You're hurt really bad."

Lady Kikyo stares at the jewel in her hand then at the sword, "All of this, for the sacred jewel and the legendary dagger, ugh-" The pain of her injury quickly catches back up with the woman, another villager steps forward to try and help her.

"Milady, you're in pain! Someone quickly help-" He is interrupted by the beautiful priestess.

"I won't feel this pain much longer." She then turns to her younger sister, her hand shaking as she passes the jewel to her. "And so I give this to you, the Shikon no Tama, which you must burn with my body. It must not fall into the hands of those who would abuse it. The dagger once wielded by the legendary yokai slayer, I want you to seal it away in this forest so that none may take its power." And with her last breath spent, the priestess Kikyo tumbles to the ground dead.

Later that evening, the body of the priestess is cremated with the Shikon no Tama in her hands, her final thought in this realm of existence is, "I shall take the Shikon no Tama with me into the next world."

After the funeral ceremony, the villagers placed the legendary blade within the tree that Inuyasha had been pinned to. Placing various seals and talismans on the weapon to hide it from the eyes of both man and demon.

[Japan - Present Day]

Time passes, as it tends to, much to the annoyance of beautiful women everywhere. The vast fields are eventually filled to the brim with expansive cities, and the tiny village of the feudal era has blossomed into the modern city of Tokyo. But in spite of the exciting grandness of the city, our attention is focused on a very small corner of Tokyo, a small shrine placed seemingly haphazardly between the more modern buildings, the older building creating a beautiful yet startling contrast in the modern street.

Within the house of the compound sit two people, a beautiful young girl with long black hair, a pair of chocolate brown eyes, and pink lips. She wore a pink sweatshirt and a pair of blue jeans. Sitting across from her is an elderly man wearing priest robes.

"The Shikon no wha-?" The girl asked incredulously, the reason for her curiosity being the small keychain in her hand across a small rectangle is a short prayer, and beneath it is a small marble that looked remarkably like the purple jewel that started the conflict centuries ago.

The old man replies in a wizened voice usually associated with one's elders. "The Shikon no Tama, my dear girl. The 'Jewel of Four Souls'."

"Grandpa, you don't honestly think that tourists are gonna actually buy these tacky things, do you?"

The old man scowls then sternly replies, "Kagome dear, that is not just a keychain, the crystal at the end is an authentic replica of an ancient jewel which, huh?" The elder's lecture apparently goes in one ear and out the other as Kagome uses her keychain as a cat toy to play with her calico tabby cat Buyo. The elderly man clears his throat in a feeble attempt to regain his granddaughter's attention. "As I was saying, that crystal is a replica of an ancient jewel which-"

Kagome suddenly changes the subject by asking, "You do remember that it's my birthday tomorrow, right?"

The old man suddenly sweatdrops, unsure of how he was to explain then says, "Well, I was planning to wait another day, but…"

The girl interrupts her grandfather again with an excited gleam in her eyes. "So you did get me something. Let me see, let me see!"

In spite of her original excitement of receiving a present, her response to the gift itself proves she was less than thrilled at what she saw. In her hand is what appeared to be a shriveled up alligator leg.

With a great amount of pride and reverence in his tone, Kagome's grandfather began his prattle about his gift. "That, my dear, is an authentic mummified hand of a water imp that many years ago…"

With a dry look on her face, Kagome slowly lowers her 'gift' down to Buyo's level, "Here Buyo, eat." The cat grabs the mummified 'demon remains' and takes off with his prize. Kagome's grandfather tries to get it back, shouting something about it being an antique or some other such nonsense.

Later that evening, the family is sitting down to dinner with Grandfather Higurashi going into another one of his bizarre stories. "I tell you these pickles are full of history."

"Not half as full as you are," Kagome replies in a deadpan manner.

Meanwhile, in the darkening twilight, a young man approaches the shrine from the street that led towards it. He looked to be around sixteen or seventeen years old with a pleasant smile plastered on his face. He had long raven black hair that was tied in a ponytail with a red highlight that went from his bang and down to the tip of his ponytail, dark red eyes, and light skin. He wore a grey t-shirt with a black long-sleeved shirt underneath, a pair of blue jeans, red/black sneakers, and fingerless black gloves. Around his neck is an amulet with a peculiar emblem that resembled a wolf's head with a sword clenched in its fangs.

He walked a few more feet then stopped at the front door while holding a bag in his left hand. "Hope Kagome likes my gift. That girl's stubborn sometimes."

His smile grew wider as he knocked on the door, waiting for his childhood friend to greet him.

Inside the Higurashi household, the knock on the door was clearly heard by the small family sitting down. Seeing this as an opportunity to get away from her grandfather's ramblings, Kagome quickly shot up from her place at the table. "I'll get it." She rushed to the door, spending a second to make herself a smidge more presentable, she slowly opened the door.

"Special delivery to a pretty girl named Kagome Higurashi." A boy's voice reached her ears.

Giggling, Kagome opened the door, revealing the red-haired boy, "Konichiwa Hide-kun."

The young man gave her a small grin. "Konichiwa Kagome-chan."

Kagome's V.O: This is my good friend, Hide, a childhood friend of mine that came from America. When I first met him, I thought he was a thug at first since he always had this scowl on his face, but then I realized that he was just shy around other people. He had been so used to his own country that he had no idea how to act around kids he could hardly understand in a foreign land. So my mother taught him Japanese while his parents helped my father with his work before he passed away. Hide isn't his actual name, it's a cute nickname I came up with since he wanted to use a Japanese-born name during his stay in Japan. Though, another quirk about him that I found a bit annoying yet oddly funny was his fascination with Japanese folklore. He once told me that he could see spirits, which was hard to believe since he was a kid back then. Still, he is one of my best friends so I can't exactly call him weird… at least, not to his face.

"So what brings you out here at this time of night?" The girl asked.

"Oh, I heard your birthday was around the corner so I-" Hide's explanation is cut short when Kagome's mom comes wandering into the hall.

"Who's at the door, dear?" The older woman asked. She stopped when she noticed the young man across from her. She suddenly gains a wide smile then speaks to Hide in a seemingly overly polite manner. "Well, konichiwa Hide-kun."

The raven-haired boy sweatdropped. "Uh, konichiwa Higurashi-san." The boy always had the sneaky suspicion that this woman was trying to get him and Kagome together. Though she continuously embarrassed them both to no end, even when she kept saying that they were denying their feelings for each other.

"So what brings you out here this evening, Hide?" Kagome's mom asked with a sweet smile.

"Oh, I was working on something for Kagome and I was hoping to give it to her." Hide replied, but was interrupted by the Higurashi matriarch.

"I'm sure you can wait a little bit, you see we were just about to sit down and eat dinner, would you like to join us?"

"W-well, I, uh…" The American teen sputtered and stammered nervously. "I-I wouldn't want to impose."

"Oh, nonsense," Mrs. Higurashi replies, grabbing hold of the surprised boy's arm. "You know that you're always welcome into our home, come in and sit down." She nearly pulled Hide's arm off in the process.

"Wait, hold on!" Hide tried to speak, but the woman wouldn't listen.

Kagome's cheeks flush an atomic red at her mother's forwardness with her friend, she couldn't remember a time when she didn't have to stress that she and Hide are just friends, nothing more. But her mom never seemed to listen. When she returned to the table, she witnessed her mother had somehow managed to convince Souta to scoot over and allow Hide to sit in his original spot, putting him right next to her. Her embarrassment flushes as she quietly sits down next to her childhood friend. The two of them quietly glanced at each other then quickly averted their gaze in pure embarrassment.

"So Hide, what are you doing out here tonight?" Souta asked.

"Well as I was saying, since Kagome's birthday is tomorrow, I was going to give her this after school, but I…" The young man's expression looked dim. "I had to visit someone so I thought I might as well give it to her now."

Kagome's face lit up at the thought of a present from her friend. "You bought me a present? That's so sweet, Hide."

"Well, actually…" The red-eyed boy rubbed the back of his head with a shy grin. "I made it. For you."

The girl felt her cheeks heat up figuring that Hide must've made something personal for her. It was rather touching to have such a friend.

"Kagome, why don't you and Hide-kun head upstairs? Dinner will be right here when you get back." Mrs. Higurashi said to her daughter.

"Alright, mama. We'll be back in a little bit." Kagome smiled, taking her friend's hand as she led him up to her bedroom.

Normally, Kagome would be nervous in bringing a boy up to her room like every other teenage girl. However, Hide was her best friend and he respected her privacy when needed.

When they entered the bedroom, Kagome closed the door and made sure to lock it to keep any sneaky little brothers from interfering. "So what did you make me, Hide?" She asked, a bit impatient yet excited.

The American rolled his eyes then set the bag he was carrying down on Kagome's desk. "Always the impatient one…" He muttered under his breath. Hide reached inside the bag and carefully removed the girl's present to show it to her.

Kagome gasped in surprise as she took in the sight of her present. It was a small white fox doll with pink details and nine tails. It almost looked like a fox kit and it was absolutely adorable! "Oh, Hide!" She grabbed the stuffed toy and hugged it against her chest. "It's so cute!"

Hide smiled in relief, "I'm glad you like it, Kagome. It was something I had been planning to give you for quite some time now."

"Well, I love it. Thank you so much." Kagome beamed with joy.

Hide rubbed the back of his head in slight embarrassment, "Eh-heh, you're welcome."

"So what is it, exactly?" Kagome asked out of curiosity.

"Oh," The American gestured towards the fox doll. "That's actually supposed to be a kitsune. Specifically, a Nine Tails."

"You mean like one of those old spirits from ancient history?" She pondered.

Hide nodded, "Yeah, something like that."

"Well, thanks again. I love this gift." Kagome said with a bright smile on her face that Hide found mesmerizing. "By the way, why do you call yourself Hide instead of using your real name?"

"My grandmother is Japanese. She once told me that the day I was born, it was like the sun had risen just for me like Hideyoshi Toyotomi." The American explained. "I took Hide as a nickname because… I don't know why but it just felt… right."

Kagome looked at her friend in mild confusion but she accepted it as just another one of Hide's quirks. Overall, she could safely say that her birthday tomorrow would be amazing.

[The Next Day…]

In the Higurashi household, Kagome had woken up at dawn's first light. She took a bath, put on her school uniform, and went downstairs for breakfast. She didn't see Souta there but she did find her mother, who had already cooked her a traditional Japanese breakfast of rice with an egg on top, a cooked fish, and a few slices of banana.

The young girl finished her food, thanked both her mother and Kami for the meal, and took off for school… that is until she spotted Hide, who was dressed in the male version of the school uniform and standing beside Souta who had a bowl of cat food in his hands.m

"Souta? Hide? What are you two doing by the old well?" Kagome asked.

Hide was the first to answer, "Souta saw Buyo run inside but he's too scared to go inside to look for him."

"No, I wasn't!" The young boy retorted.

"Yeah, you were." Hide countered.

Kagome shook her head as her brother and her friend argued like kids, "Boys…" She muttered under her breath. While the boys argued, Kagome strolled right past them, entering the shack that housed the old well.

"Huh? Kagome, wait-" Hide tried to say but the girl ignored him.

The girl checked around the dark interior, searching for her family house cat but the mischievous feline didn't seem to be anywhere. "Buyo?" She called out.

No response from the cat. Usually, he would come at the drop of a hat when his name was called.

"Anything, Kagome?" Souta asked.

Kagome sighed, giving her little brother a mild look of annoyance, "It would be a lot better if you two were down here helping me."

"But… it's dark and scary…" Souta meekly said.

Hide gave the boy a deadpan stare, "Told you that you were scared."

"I was not!" Souta exclaimed in comical anger.

While the boys continued their little argument, Kagome began to hear a scratching sound… from inside the well? 'That noise…' She thought to herself as she approached the old well before a brief noise shocked and surprised her along with her little brother and best friend.

Souta cried out when he landed on his butt then raised his brow when he realized who it was, "Buyo?"

Indeed. The family cat had revealed itself the moment Kagome came downstairs, affectionately rubbing against the girl's leg then she picked him up with a small grin on her face.

"Well, we found the cat." Hide said with his hands in his pants pockets.

"You mean, Kagome found him…" Souta muttered under his breath.

Hide gave the boy a scowl, "You wanna get a noogie? Because I'll give it to you."

"Look, stop fighting. Both of you. I swear you guys are like brothers…" Kagome chastised the duo, unaware of the brief flash around the seal that covered the well.

"Huh?" Hide blinked in surprise before the lid suddenly flew off, "Kagome, behind you!"

"Eh?" Kagome looked at her American friend in confusion before several ghostly white arms grabbed her and began to pull her into the well. Buyo, sensing the danger, quickly leaped from his mistress's arms and ran back up to Souta.

"What's going on!?" Souta gasped as his big sister was dragged into the well.

"Kagome!" The crimson-eyed teen called out as he leaped into the well after his friend. All around him there seemed to be a black void with small blue orbs of light that would've looked enticing to the eye if it were not for the fact that Kagome was being held… by some freakishly monstrous centipede creature with the upper body of a woman that was stark naked. "Hey!"

Hearing the voice of her friend, Kagome looked back to see Hide approaching, "Hide?"

"Do not interfere, mortal." The centipede woman warned the boy but her attention was focused on the girl she held in her arms. "You have it, don't you? Give it to me!"

"Let go of me!" Kagome cried out as she struggled and placed her hand on the woman's face then a pink light began emanating from her palm, forcing the centipede creature back as she fell into the depths of the darkness.

"Accursed girl! I must obtain the Sacred Jewel!" The centipede lady yelled as she disappeared.

"Sacred Jewel?" Kagome repeated in confusion before she felt a pair of warm arms hold onto her. "Huh? Hide?"

"Don't worry. I got you." The American assured his friend… until the two teens suddenly landed softly onto the ground. "Huh… I was expecting a more painful landing."

"You won't hear me complaining," Kagome remarked as she checked their surroundings. "We must've bumped our heads on the way down…"

"And hallucinated a scary, naked woman with a centipede body? That's not a coincidence, Kagome." Hide pointed out then glanced behind him. "And neither is that."

The Higurashi girl took notice of what the American was looking at… and found the disembodied left arm of the centipede. "That is so gross!" She cringed in disgust.

Hide released Kagome from his hold and looked up at the entrance of the well, "Hey, Souta! You up there?" He called out but received no response. "Great… no choice but to climb up."

"Do we have to?" Kagome asked.

"Unless you wanna live down here for the rest of your life, Kagome-chan." Hide teased with a shrug. "I've got no interest staying down here." The American teen grabbed hold of some vines that apparently were growing down the well and started to climb up.

"Hey! Don't leave me behind!" Kagome cried out as she followed after her friend, climbing the vines at a slower yet careful pace.

It took the duo a solid minute to climb up to the top of the well, all the while, they could feel a cool, refreshing breeze that kept them going for the light.

"Almost there! Keep up, Kagome!" Hide told the girl as he approached the edge, despite the light that shined down on his face. When he reached the end, he grabbed onto the wooden frame and hauled his body up… and was met with a most confusing sight. "Uh, Kagome…? There is definitely something wrong here."

"What is it?" The girl asked as she managed to haul herself up next to her friend then took in her surroundings, realizing what he meant. "Oh…"

Instead of the interior of an old shack, the well was in the middle of a magnificent forest with birds, butterflies, and even some flowers that grew around the old well.

"Okay… we've gotta be hallucinating… right?" Hide pondered, not sure what he was seeing was real or not.

"I don't think we're in Tokyo anymore…" Kagome gulped, feeling apprehensive and a little scared at her new environment.

Hide stepped off the well, "Maybe the well had two different entrances. If we find your family tree, we might find our way back to the shrine."

Kagome nodded, "Right." She replied.

The teens head out into the forest, passing by branches that had chirping birds or buzzing insects. After pushing past several bushes, Kagome spotted the thousand year old tree that stood outside of her family's shrine. With a relieved smile, she took off, leaving Hide behind.

"Hey!" He called out.

Kagome ignored her friend's cries. Instead, all she could think about was getting back home to her family. When she entered a clearing, the girl gasped in surprise when she found the tree… along with the body of a boy.

The boy looked to be around her age with long silver hair and… dog ears on his head? He wore a red haori with hakama pants of the same color and he had no form of footwear. His fingernails also looked like… claws?

"What's a boy doing out here?" Kagome pondered.

"Kagome, don't just run off without-" Hide shouted in annoyance before pausing in surprise when he came across Kagome… and an unconscious silver-haired boy. "Uh, who's that?"

"No idea… is he sleeping?" Kagome asked.

Hide gave his friend a dry look, "He's got an arrow in his shoulder. What do you think?" Suddenly, the dark-haired girl climbed onto the large root, much to Hide's shock. "Kagome, what are you doing!? Don't go near him!"

Kagome, however, ignored her friend's cries and was focused on one particular aspect of the mysterious boy… the set of dog ears on his head. Curiosity overcame her as she reached out with her hands and gave the ears a rub. They felt soft and warm, just like regular dog ears…

"Why do you have to be so weird sometimes?" Hide sighed before his ears caught onto the sounds of approaching footsteps. "Who the…"

"Get away from there!" A voice cried out before several arrows were fired at the teens. Hide quickly dropped to the ground while Kagome used her own body to defend the sleeping silver-haired boy from harm despite her own fright.

"What the hell is wrong with-!" Hide tried to yell at his assailants before he found several arrows pointed at his face. "Uh… it was all her idea!" He gestured at Kagome.

"Don't pin the blame on me!"

LINE BREAK

The next thing the teens knew, they were hogtied and taken to an old village composed of straw and wood. They were forced to sit at the center of the village while some of the citizens looked at them like they were circus freaks.

Hide ignored the squabbling amongst the crowd and the looks he received. Instead, he focused on Kagome, "This is your fault." He said bluntly.

"What!? How is this my fault!" Kagome retorted.

"They obviously didn't like it when you were messing with that dog boy's ears. Maybe he's a celebrity here." The American pointed out.

"What, in medieval Japan? In case you haven't noticed, all the men here have top knots." She stated.

"Actors, maybe?" Hide pondered as he checked around the village.

Suddenly, a voice called out, "Make way for High Priestess Kaede!"

Both teens turned to the source of the voice. Approaching them is an elderly woman wearing red and white priestess robes with an eyepatch over her right eye and holding a bow in her right hand. Kagome and Hide stared at the old lady in mild confusion before she digs into a pouch at her side and withdraws a handful of salt then throws it at the teens. "Begone, demons!" She demanded.

"Hey! Cut it out!" Kagome cried out.

"Ah! We're not demons, you crazy woman!" Hide exclaimed while spitting out some of the salt. "Man, now my tongue is coated in salt… I need water."

"Ye be not?" The old woman inclined her brow in surprise. "Then why were ye found in the Forest of Inuyasha?"

One of the men that came with the priestess suggested, "They could be spies from another village."

"Then they'd be fools," Kaede stated. "What reason would anyone invade a poor village such as ours?" The older woman suddenly stared at Kagome and Hide with a glint of realization. She approached the teens, "Let me have a good look at both of ye." Despite the firm yet gentle handling of the priestess, Kagome and Hide were starting to get annoyed. "It's there… but I'm not sure why?"

"Huh?" Kagome inclined her head in confusion.

"Okay, can someone tell us what's going on!?" Hide exclaimed in comical irritation.

LINE BREAK

Later that night, Lady Kaede released the teenage duo after assuring the village that they were not foes then brought them into her hut. While the children sat patiently, the priestess returned with two bowls of stew that got the teens' mouths to water.

"Wow, this looks great." Kagome comments.

"It smells delicious…" Hide felt like crying tears of joy as the aroma hit his nostrils.

"Bear us no ill will, children." Kaede said to the boy and girl. "For though I see that neither of you means us any harm, in these troubled times of war, no stranger may be welcomed amongst us without deep distrust."

"Then I guess we really aren't in Tokyo anymore…" Kagome realized. Hide agreed with his friend as he ate his meal like a ravenous wolf.

The old priestess looked at the strangely dressed youths with a confused expression on her face, "To-Ki-Yo? Never heard of it. Is that where your people are from?"

Hide quickly came to the rescue to prevent any future confusion, "Kagome's people anyways. I hail from the Western lands beyond the seas. My mother was born here while my father came from overseas."

"Uh, yeah, what he said." Kagome agreed.

"Ah, so that explains why you look like a foreigner. I assumed you to be a half-demon. I've never seen a man with eyes like yours." Kaede admitted.

Hide chuckled sheepishly, "I get that all the time."

Meanwhile outside, something stirs in the grass around the village... something big, something evil, and something familiar. There is a loud crash as the evil entity begins to tear the village apart. Kaede and the two youths rush out of the hut in response to the panicked cries of the villagers.

"What's going on?" Kaede questioned.

Right when she said that, a loud crash emerged from what could only be a horse stable to reveal… the giant centipede woman who had a struggling horse in her jaws.

"It's that thing again!" Hide exclaimed in shock.

A few of the village men tried to shoot at the demon with arrows coated in fire but they proved useless. The centipede lady hissed at the insolent humans that got in her way then swiped her long body to knock them away. With a cackle, she dropped the dying stallion in front of the old priestess and the youths.

"Give me the Sacred Jewel!" Madame Centipede demanded. She angled her centipede half down to the ground and rushed right past them, knocking the teens and Kaede down.

"The Sacred Jewel?" Kaede repeated then looked at Kagome in shock. "Ye still bear it?"

"I have no idea. I mean I've heard of the jewel but I don't-" Kagome tried to explain but paused when the demon started attacking the other villagers that tried to fight her.

"Damn, what the hell is that thing talking about? A Sacred Jewel? We don't have anything like that!" Hide exclaimed in frustration before he noticed a fallen spear on the ground. "Better then nothing…" He said to himself before he quickly rolled over to the weapon and picked it up with one hand. He held his new weapon with both hands and quickly charged at the demon with a battle cry.

"Hide, wait!" Kagome cried out.

"Did ye say 'Hide'?" Kaede pondered in surprise.

Hearing the boy's cry, Madame Centipede stared down at the approaching Hide and swung her body at him. "Impudent human!" She hissed.

Suddenly, reacting out of instinct, the crimson-eyed boy leaped into the air… clearly avoiding the tail as he flew towards the demon with his spear held out. "Eat this, you ugly bitch!" Hide roared before thrusting the spear forward and stabbing Madame Centipede directly in the abdomen, eliciting a screech of pain from her.

"By Kami…" Kaede said with awe. "Those movements… just like him."

"Whoa, I've never seen Hide do that before." Kagome admitted.

"Spears, arrows, nothing seems to work!" One of the villagers cried out.

"We must lure it to the dry well." Kaede suggested.

"The dry well?" Kagome repeated.

The old priestess looked at the girl, "In the forest of Inuyasha."

Kagome gasped in realization that the dry well must've been the same one that she and Hide had climbed out of. "Which way is the forest?" She asked. "Where the light is shining, right?"

"Wait!" Kaede called out as the girl took off into the woods.

Madame Centipede took notice of the girl's flight from the village and quickly cast the wretched boy aside to follow her prey. "Come back here!" She yelled.

Hide luckily managed to land in a pile of hay but realized his friend was still in danger, "Kagome!" He said with worry as he forced himself to stand up and followed after the demon that chased the girl he cared about.

As Kagome runs from Madame Centipede her mind runs a mile a minute, 'Someone will save me, right? They've got to.' She thought with panic before verbally calling out, "Mom, Grandpa, anybody please. Somebody help me!"

Meanwhile deep in the woods the sleeping young man in the red robe, begins to twitch and stir. His eyes open, a malevolent sneer on his face, "I smell it at last, the blood of the woman that killed me, and its getting closer."

Kagome continues to run into the forest with the centipede demon hot on her heels.

"The Jewel... Give it to me!" Madame Centipede demanded.

"I've already told you I don't have it." The centipede demon lashes out at Kagome, missing the girl by a hair but causing the ground underneath her to explode violently throwing her into the air, and with a hard thud, she lands in front of the great tree.

She then hears a masculine voice not the gentle and caring voice of Hide but this one was rough and almost malignant. "Hello Kikyo, playing with bugs now, are we?" Kagome looks up in surprise at the red-clad, silver-haired youth who stares back at her.

'Did he just talk?' Kagome said in her mind. And then finally says, "So, you are alive."

The boy scoffs at Kagome, "Why are you taking so long to kill it. Just finish it off like you finished me." Inuyasha pauses his tirade briefly to take note of "Kikyo's" outfit. "You look pretty dumb there Kikyo. The Kikyo I know wouldn't waste time."

By now, Kagome was irritated beyond her wits, "That does it. Kikyo, Kikyo, Kikyo, whoever she is, she's not me because my name is-" Her emotional tirade gets cut off when Inuyasha suddenly comments…

"She's here." He said.

Kagome whips around to see Madame Centipede mere inches away from her. But she is then saved as several of the villagers have launched arrows with ropes into the bug demon's sides using them to yank the monster away from Kagome. Kagome lets out a relieved sigh. "So I was saved."

Inuyasha then scoffs at Kagome a second time. "You've gotten pathetic, Kikyo."

That is when Kagome has had enough, the girl whips back towards Inuyasha and begins yet another emotional tirade. "Look I'm telling you I AM NOT KIKYO! Whoever she is."

Inuyasha retorts, "And I'm telling you that you have to be her. Because if you weren't you wouldn't smell so-" Inuyasha pauses to take a whiff of Kagome's scent and then realizes, "You're not her."

"That's what I've been trying to tell you, my name is Kagome, Kah-Goh-Meh." The schoolgirl said with annoyance.

Inuyasha simply looks away scoffing for the nth time today, "You're right. Kikyo was cuter, much cuter…" There seemed to be a look of longing and forlorn on his face.

'What did you-' Kagome felt her nerves reach their boiling point and was about to deck the dog boy in the face before the centipede demon grabs Kagome yet again. In a panic, Kagome grabs the closest anchor possible, Inyuasha's long hair.

"Ow, ow, ow! Let go, will you?!" The boy cried out.

As Inuyasha gets closer and closer to suffering premature balding, someone very familiar has finally managed to catch up with everyone.

"Hands off, gruesome!" A voice called out before a spear is jabbed into Madame Centipede's ribcage, causing the demon to hiss in pain. Her attacker is revealed to be Hide, who had arrived in the nick of time to save his friend and… the dog boy? "Holy crap! The dead mutt guy is still alive!"

"WHO YOU CALLING A MUTT!?" Inuyasha yelled in comical anger.

"Accursed human!" The centipede demon roared before she grabbed Hide by the arms, preventing him from moving and revealed her razor sharp teeth.

"Oh, this is gonna hurt…" Hide said with a bit of fear. Next thing he knew, sharp teeth bit into his collarbone… and tore a chunk of flesh out of him. A cough of blood splattered against the dirt as the young man looked half-dead from the bite alone.

"HIDE!" Kagome cried out in horror as Madame Centipede casually tossed the dying boy in front of the tree, right before Kagome's feet.

"What a foolish boy. And to think that I actually believed that he was the legendary demon slayer." The demon mocked the human's effort to stop her. "Perhaps I'll devour him first just in case."

"LEAVE HIM ALONE!" And with another display of the amazing power she showed while falling down the well she causes several more of the demon woman's arms off. She stares wide-eyed at her accomplishment and then thinks to herself, 'I did that before, in the well. But how did I do it?' Suddenly a bright purple light begins to shine from within Kagome's left side. "Now what's happening."

Madame Centipede charges at the girl, burying her sharp teeth into Kagome's side and tossing her into the air. Following a violent spurt of blood, a familiar purple jewel also starts flying through the air. One thought comes to Kagome's mind at this time 'It came from inside me. Is that the sacred jewel?' Kagome then tumbles to the ground with a loud thud, followed shortly afterward by the sacred jewel with a light tinkling sound.

Inuyasha then starts yelling at Kagome. "Hey you, give me the sacred jewel!"

Kagome is unable to process this request before the centipede demon attacks again, this time opting to wrap her impossibly longer lower half around the two trying to crush the poor girl. The demon laughs maniacally at the pain and misery of the two, leaning in close to gloat about her victory. "I'd heard that there was a half-demon spawn that yearned for the sacred jewel. It must be you, isn't it?"

Kagome looked up at the silver-haired boy in confusion, wondering what a half-demon could be.

Inuyasha's mouth splits into a confident smirk, "Heh, half is all I need to beat your scaly hide. Anything more than that and it would be a waste of my time just looking at you."

Kagome then looks up at Inuyasha and then asks him an important question. "Hey listen, you can talk big but can you back it up?"

"I could certainly do a lot better than your friend there." Inuyasha looked down at the bleeding, half-conscious Hide.

Madame Centipede continues to gloat, "What can either of you do when you're pinned to that tree?" The demon leans down and uses her freakishly long tongue to scoop up and swallow the jewel while saying, yYou are all powerless to stop me."

The collected villagers then begin to panic.

"It swallowed the jewel!"

"Lady Kaede what are we going to do now!"

All those gathered there watch in fear and in some cases fascination as the arms that were removed reattach themselves to Madame Centipede's sockets.

"It's rearming itself." Kagome unintentionally said.

Madam Centipede convulses for a few seconds before the human-like skin covering its upper torso explodes off of her like a second skin revealing a more hideous visage beneath it. "At last," She shrieked. "My power is complete!"

Her grip on Kagome and Inuyasha begins to tighten, forcing the girl to groan in pain as she feels her bones begin to crumble, and her lungs start to collapse under the pressure. "It's crushing me!"

Inuyasha then looks down at Kagome and then asks her a simple question, "Hey, can you pull out this arrow?" Kagome looks up at the "half-demon" with a confused look on her face. Inuyasha then asks again, "I said can you pull this arrow out or not?"

"NAY, child! Do not remove the arrow. If it is pulled from his body Inuyasha will be free to destroy us all!" Lady Kaede called out to the pinned girl.

The dog half-demon yelled, "At least with me, you all have a chance whereas that thing is gonna eat you." He gestured to the mutated demon centipede. His amber eyes focused back on the girl pressed against him, "And what about you? Are you ready to die like your friend?"

Kagome struggled to think about what she wanted to do but there did seem to be one thing on her as her hand grasped the shaft of the arrow. "I want… to live!" She shouted as she yanked the arrow right out of Inuyasha.

A bright pink light emerged from the arrow that bound Inuyasha to the tree before it vanished into thin air. Kaede was equally shocked like the rest of her fellow villagers, "It's gone. The spell my sister placed has been banished! Then that would mean…" Her lone eyes wandered over to the base of the tree where a golden glow began to shine.

Inuyasha's body pulses with power and he began to snicker sinisterly. And with an amazing burst of strength, Inuyasha breaks free of Madam Centipede's bonds. Allowing Kagome to fall free and hit the ground with a thud, amongst the shredded pieces of Madame Centipede's lower body.

The mutated demon shrieked in pain and anger, "Wicked child!"

"Nasty hag!" Inuyasha shot back with a smirk.

Madam Centipede growls viciously and charges the hanyo boy, but Inuyasha counters with a roar of his own.

"IRON REAVER SOUL STEALER!"

The half-demon became a literal red buzzsaw, carving through the centipede demon's body like it was wet paper.

"Now I know… he is strong." Kagome said with awe then yelped in shock when the bits of the demon's body started to twitch. "It's still moving!"

Kaede moves forward and begins to speak to the young girl. "Find the glowing flesh quickly, young one. That is where the jewel will be, it must be removed at once lest the flesh of Madam Centipede revives itself."

Kagome looks at the old priestess incredulously, "Tell me you're joking." Seeing as how the old woman wasn't joking, the school girl begins to rapidly look around the various chunks of flesh, until she sees one that glows with the unusual purple light. "There that one, right there."

The elderly priestess kneels down next to the body and removes the glowing stone, causing the various pieces of the demon to rot away leaving only the bones.

"Oh no, Hide!" Kagome gasped, realizing her friend was still hurt.

"Do not fret, child. The boy will be brought back to the village for treatment." Kaede assured the girl before she held out the sacred jewel, confusing Kagome even as she accepted it into her palms. "Only ye may possess the sacred jewel."

"But how did it get inside my body?" Kagome pondered. "Why would I have a jewel wanted by demons?"

Inuyasha chose that moment to remind everyone of his presence by crushing some of Madame Centipede's bones beneath his feet. "Exactly, humans can't use it so why bother keeping it?" The hanyo cracks his knuckles allowing his claws to extend themselves again. "So, if you hand over the jewel right now, I won't have to start sharpening my claws on you."

Initially surprised, the girl looked at her supposed savior in shock, 'What!? You mean he's not the hero?!'

While this latest development took place, a new problem made itself known near the body of the fallen American. Hide tried to move his body but his legs felt like wet noodles. He couldn't move a finger, 'I can't… let Kagome… get hurt…' He said in his mind. 'I need… more power…'

"If you would accept my gift…" A gentle voice whispered into the boy's ear.

Clouded crimson eyes weakly opened and seemed to stare up at… a glowing wolf!?

"What… are you…?" Hide asked weakly.

"I am the Guardian Spirit, Makami." The spirit wolf answered without moving its mouth. "I have been watching over you… for a very long time."

"I don't understand…" The young man muttered.

The wolf shook its head, "Goodness, it seems you really have no memory of me, do you? Or of the others." Makami approached the dying boy. "It would seem it is time for me to reveal the truth to you…"

The Guardian Spirit approached the young man… and entered his body. In a flash of golden light, Hide saw everything.

A young man that resembled Hide living alone…

...a fated meeting with a monkey beneath a tree of sakura blossoms…

...a viper that filled his heart with warmth…

...a woman raised to hunt demons, including him…

...a fool who became the most feared warlord in all of Japan…

...a beautiful princess with the grace of a goddess…

...warriors, both human and half-demon, earning his respect…

...a hated enemy who took everything from him…

...a warm motherly smile that made his heart soar…

...countless Guardian Spirits that clambered to him…

...a betrayal that left the young man slain by one he called a friend…

...a destiny unfolded…

...an ancient sword reclaimed…

...a bloody, fateful battle between him and his hated foe…

...a final parting with a friend…

...a life spent of wandering and love with the female hunter he befriended.

"I… remember… everything…" Hide said with a gasp. Unaware that his eyes began to glow an ethereal blue. He held out his right hand towards the base of the great tree that kept Inuyasha imprisoned where the golden glow resided. The light grew brighter before an object shot directly towards Hide, which he caught with his right hand. In his hand, the object is revealed to be a curved dagger with a glowing yellow blade and a kanji written near the hilt that read 'Hide'. A surge of power flowed through his veins as he stood up with the dagger in hand and his wound rapidly healed.

Sensing a great amount of yokai energy from the tree, Inuyasha stared at the spot where Hide had fallen and smelt something in the wind. "Demon blood?" He inclined a silver brow in surprise. "That guy was a half-demon all along?"

"Huh? Hide!" Kagome called out before she froze in shock when the eyes of her friend glowed blue.

"The sacred dagger is in his hands…" Kaede said without thinking. "...that must mean he really is the legendary demon slayer."

Inuyasha snarled at what he believed to be a new foe, "Who the hell are you, ya bastard?" He demanded.

"I am the reincarnation of the man who slew the great Otakemaru and Shuten Doji." Hide declared in two separate voices, one that was his while another sounded like an older version of the boy. The Guardian Spirit, Makami, floated beside him as the wolf snarled at Inuyasha. "I am the slayer of men and demons alike. The one who killed tyrants and fools. The man who walks the path between man and yokai." He brings up his dagger while his glowing blue eyes flared, "I am Hideyoshi… and I will cut you down."

A/N: And that shall be the end of the first chapter. I hope I did the series justice. I wanted to add some aspects from the game and implement them into the story.

Now before I go on, the set years of the series are vastly different since Nioh 2 takes place before the events of the first Nioh game. The time frame of the game starts in 1555 and ends in 1616. The Inuyasha time frame started around the Sengoku period, or in the English dub, the Feudal era. Since the anime/manga took place 500 years in the past since Kagome is from the late 20th century, I decided to change up the timeline a bit. This will start at around 1640 or 1650. Or I could go lower and have it start at around 1620 or 1630.

As for Hide's appearance, I based him on my in-game character in Nioh 2. Well, face and hair-wise to be precise. I'm debating that during his journey in the Feudal Era, he gets new garments that are similar to the ones you would get in the game. He's not getting any legendary weapons that the player received and will be starting out with the basic equipment. He'll probably get a magic satchel that carries items, weapons, and armor like from Dark Souls or from Legend of Zelda.

And before any of you guys say anything, Hide will not be paired with Kagome or Sango. I've got some special pairings for him down the line.

Please review and comment on this story. Love it, hate it, but just know that you've read it!

Peace out, everyone!
