When Logan woke up, everything around him was still dark.

'No, please not that.'

"Logan?"

That was Camille's voice.

'Oh god ... we're still down there. That can't-'

"Logan, everything is all right. Open your eyes."

The eyes … now he noticed that his eyes were still closed, which of course explained the darkness. He opened his eyes and closed them again at almost the same moment because the bright light blinded him. He tried again. The light was still very bright, but gradually he could see something. He was in a hospital. He turned his head to the side and looked at Camille, who smiled at him. "Welcome back," she said, kissing his cheek.

"What happened?" He couldn't remember how he had gotten from the basement to the hospital.

"The fire department found us. They did their best to free you, but unfortunately they couldn't spare you from the pain. You passed out again. And after they finally freed you, an ambulance brought you here straight away."

"Oh ..." He looked at his injured leg, which was in a plaster. Camille followed his gaze. "You lost a lot of blood and your leg is broken in two places. It will take a long time to heal completely."

He nodded and then took her hand in his. "And how are you?"

"I'm okay. But I was really worried about you."

He ran his thumb over the back of her hand. "We made it."

She nodded with a smile. "Yes. It was a terrible experience, but somehow I think it made our relationship even stronger."

"Well, nothing can tear us apart. Not even an earthquake," he said, pulling her close. They kissed, but were unfortunately interrupted by a knock on the door. Then James stuck his head into the room. "Is this a bad time?"

"Yeah, but you can come in," Logan said, smiling.

Shortly thereafter, the guys, Mrs. Knight, Katie and Jo stood around Logan's bed.

"How are you?" Kendall asked worriedly.

"I'm tired and exhausted. But also relieved that this nightmare is finally over."

There was another knock and Miss Collins entered the room. She hugged Camille, then Logan. "I'm so glad you two are fine. And I'm so sorry."

"You really don't have to blame yourself, Miss Collins. You couldn't know what was going to happen," Logan said seriously. She nodded and managed to smile. "By the way, there are many books that haven't been damaged by the earthquake. If you're still interested …"

Logan shook his head. "I think I'll take a break from books for now."

"Oh my God," Carlos said with mock horror. "He's lost his mind. Should we tell a doctor?"

Everyone laughed and Logan threw his pillow in Carlos's direction. Together they would be able to leave this experience behind.

*The End*
