Bruce Wayne sat next to Andrea Beaumont's bedside as he watched her heart monitor. She had fallen asleep as they were planning their wedding and he felt that he had to do one last thing. Bruce knew that he couldn't marry Andrea and continue putting his life on the line as Batman. He turned to look at his fiancée when she opened her eyes and Andrea gripped his hand in hers.

"I'll be alright. Now, that we're finally going to get married I couldn't just leave you." Andrea said as her grin widened.

"I know you'll always be with me." Bruce replied. "Can I tell you a secret?" Andrea nodded.

"Of course, you can tell me anything." She replied and Bruce sighed.

"I don't want to be Batman anymore." Bruce admitted and Andrea smirked at him.

"You say that now, but one week after the honeymoon and I'm sure you'll be patrolling the streets of Gotham again."

"No, I mean it. I've been looking for a way out for a long time and I know that this will sound crazy, but when I nearly died my parents told me that they want me to quit."

"Bruce, I don't want you to make this decision because of a fever dream." Andrea replied as she smirked at him.

"Why wouldn't I do that?" Bruce asked curiously. "After all, Batman was the creation of a fever dream." He pointed out.

"Well, I guess it would be the right decision then." Andrea chuckled and closed her eyes. "I promise that I'll make you happy that you gave up the…" Bruce noticed her heart beat was lowering and he gripped Andrea's hand tighter.

"When you wake up I'll show you the surprise I bought for our wedding." Bruce said and then he felt a cold lump in his stomach as the klaxon on the heart monitor began to ring out and Bruce leapt from his chair as he started to perform CPR. "You can't leave me now. I won't let this happen!" Bruce shouted just as the door to the room opened and Dr. Langstrom rushed into the room followed by Alfred and Dick.

"Bruce, I need you to give me some room." Kirk said and Bruce looked as though he would attack Kirk but he nodded and backed away quickly as Kirk grabbed the defibrillator and charged it. "Dick, come over and give me a hand."

"What can I do?" Dick asked as he walked to the other side of the bed.

"Watch that heart monitor and tell me if there is the slightest change." Kirk ordered. "Clear!" He shouted as he pressed the paddles to Andrea's chest and pressed the button to activate them. Her body shook violently from the shock and Kirk cursed as Dick shook his head. Kirk pressed the paddles on her chest again and her body shook again. Bruce felt his own heart thud every time the paddles were activated. After several moments Kirk cursed and threw the paddles across the room before he looked down at his watch.

"I'm sorry Bruce." Dick said and saw Alfred fighting back tears as he quickly turned and left the room.

"No, she can't be dead." Bruce said as he stepped towards Andrea and knelt down next to her bed as he hugged her tight to him.

"Bruce c'mon, let's get out of here." Dick said and Bruce shook his head.

"No, she came back to me once and I know she'll do it again!" Bruce shouted. "Everyone get out of here. I want to be alone with her."

"Bruce, I…" Alfred began but Dick quickly interrupted.

"We should leave him to grieve." He advised. Kirk nodded but Alfred didn't seem to hear him. "Alfred, come with us."

"I…I need to be here for Bruce." Alfred said as he took off his glasses to wipe tears from his eyes.

"We'll help him by giving him his privacy." Dick pointed out. Alfred nodded and slowly followed Dick and Kirk out of the room. He looked back one more time and shook his head as he saw Bruce sobbing over Andrea's body.

Several days earlier…

In a place far away, a slender raven-haired woman with green eyes, who wore a tight red ninja outfit that covered one shoulder, a black belt and had on a pair of matching black gauntlets and boots walked into a warehouse and slammed the door closed. As she turned the brunette woman tied up in the back corner of the building was able to see what looked like a red panther paw tattooed on the strange woman's bare shoulder and as she stood back up the captive saw the two white streaks in the woman's hair.

"This plan of yours had better work." The woman said in a deep Russian accent as she walked towards the captive and set a plate of food next to her before she turned to the person that she was addressing.

"Your nemesis will come to save her darling sister and then Batman will come to save them both, Red." A bald Asian man in a black ninja outfit said in a heavy accent as he sat above the captive on a crate and sharpened his katana.

"How many times do I have to tell you Kyodai, my name is Red Claw." Red Claw said as she removed the gag from the captive's mouth so she could eat. "You scream and you will starve, nod if you understand." The captive quickly nodded and Red Claw smirked as she turned and walked towards Kyodai.

"Are you two done yet?" A male voice called from the entrance to the warehouse. "I think it's time to call Catwoman and bait the trap, don't you?" Hugo Strange asked as he walked in.

Catwoman got a call and stepped away as Batman and the rest of the group picked up the rest of the pieces of Clayface's shattered body.

"What's going on Maggie? I said I would call you ba…" Catwoman began.

"This isn't your sister, but I thought you might ignore my call." Red Claw said. "As you have undoubtedly already guessed, I have your sister and if you want her back then you need to come to me and settle this score between us."

"I'll tear your throat out." Catwoman growled.

"I'm texting you an address and time to meet." Red Claw said. "Don't be late or it'll be your sister's throat that will be torn out. Oh, and come alone." She added before she hung up the phone. Catwoman walked back towards the group looking shaken.

"What's wro…" Batman began to ask but Selina removed her mask and wiped tears from her eyes.

"It's my sister, Bruce. Something has happened and now she's missing." Selina said as Batman walked up and hugged her close to him. "I have to go… I have to find her and make sure she's alright."

"I can go with you." Batman offered but Selina shook her head.

"I have to do this alone. I haven't told you about my days in Europe and I want to keep that private, for now." Selina replied as she stepped back. "I'm booking a flight now. I'm sorry I won't be there for the wedding." Selina pushed a button on her belt and her motorcycle rode up to her.

"Which country are you going to, maybe I can help search for her in the database." Batman asked. Selina shook her head.

"I'm sorry Bruce, but this really is a private matter." Selina said as she started up the motorcycle and rode away as fast as she could.
