Haven't had to do this in a while. Hi all, my name is Wolfie. I've been around the FF block for a long time, but haven't uploaded in almost 4 years. I got burned pretty badly by another user on this site when they tried to steal my story and made my life a nightmare for several weeks. I lost all love for writing for a long time. But then I found a little show called Star Wars Rebels. I am a massive Star Wars nerd, but I had never seen this show before. And I fell in love. These characters are my precious children and I will fight for them. The call to write came back for the first time in almost 4 years...thanks to these characters. Thanks to this world. So it's time to see how well the quality of my writing has held up over these past few years. So welcome to my AU and I hope you enjoy the ride.

You Scream in Silence

Prologue

It's almost funny how fast a mission can go from great to Bantha fodder. One moment everything is running smoothly, the Empire doesn't even know what's about to hit it, and then that one shot is missed, that one TIE slips past and things go very bad very fast.

The shrill scream of warning bells filled the cockpit of the X-Wing as Ezra desperately tries to level the out of control fighter. "Guys, I'm hit! Can someone get rid of that TIE for me?" he shouts into the comm.

"On it!" Sabine's calm, controlled voice precedes a clean shot that makes its mark. The TIE explodes.

"Nice shot!" Hera calls. "Ezra, what's the damage?" The Ghost maneuvers closer to Ezra's unsteady fighter.

Ezra grits his teeth, fighting a failing battle against his deteriorating ship. "Not good. Another hit like that and I'm done for."

"Then let's go. Phoenix Squadron prepare to leave. We'll have to try again another day." The cluster of ships that is the Phoenix Squadron of the Rebellion maneuver together. One by one they disappear into hyperspace. The few remaining TIE fighters let out a flurry of blasts, in a final attempt to take out any of the fighters they can.

Ezra senses the hit before it makes contact. A whisper in the Force to brace himself. He tilts his ship ever so slightly, his Force given reaction to limit the damage caused to the X-Wing. Rather than causing the entire ship to explode, it clips one of the wings, sending him spiraling out of control.

"Karabast!" Ezra swore. He made an attempt to comm Hera and the others, but he couldn't even hear himself over the scream of the alarms.

A planet loomed in front of him. A small, rich green one that Ezra couldn't remember the name of. Its surface drew closer and closer to him as his ship got caught in its gravitational pull.

Over the alarms and his own screams, Ezra thought he heard Kanan's voice calling his name. In his panic Ezra tried to connect to his master, throwing their bond wide open, in a final plea for help.

But there wasn't anything Kanan could do. Ezra could only watch in horror as the planet's surface drew nearer. He felt the heat grow around him as he entered the atmosphere, his fighter probably melting on the outside.

The ground was so close now. Ezra closed his eyes. There was a pain. There was a roar. Then there was silence.
