In the distant region of Unova laid a sun-kissed blond boy in bed, It was a quiet night nothing could disturb his sleep except the roar of thunder, he jumped and snapped his sapphire blue eyes open scanning his room for anything that could do him wrong. He soon calmed down realising that it was just the sound of thunder on a stormy night. You may be questioning why a child of seven years would react in such a way when they wake up and the story is quite tragic.

You see Naruto here is the oldest son of the famous Contester Kushina Uzumaki who specialised in both Fire and Water Types while his Father is Minato Namikaze the Unova champion and nicknamed the Yellow Flash for his mastery over Electric type pokemon. I mentioned before that Naruto was the oldest child meaning he had siblings, two redheads, Mito and Menma Namikaze. To people who see the family, they would seem like the perfect family which is only true when it's only the four of them because when Naruto is there he only gets looked at with annoyance and hate from hate. He could understand why his siblings hated him, Any child would do the same as their parents and not questions, they weren't the problem, Narutos problem were his parents, he didn't understand what he did to receive such hate, he, of course, did ask his Farther only to be met with a look of hatred and some of the harshest words he had ever heard, it had broken him and only later did he realise that his Farther didn't answer his question.

After that, he had kept his space from his Family. 'Family' he thought with disdain and hate as he stood up and made shaky steps towards the door, he was met with the horrible sound of his floorboards creaking. He opened it to be met with a warm looking corridor that was the complete opposite to his room, as he stepped out he looked at the clock that hung at the end of the corridor realising he had about two hours before his parents woke up. He quickly made his way towards the bathroom to get ready for the day and twenty minutes later he stepped out looking refreshed with a blank face, he wore a black shirt with a black jumper over it and black baggy trousers.

He knew he still had a lot of time so he went to get some food knowing that if he didn't eat anything now he wouldn't be getting anything for the rest of the day. As he made his way down the stairs he absentmindedly realised that these floorboards didn't creak or make any sounds, he quickly became disinterested as he had already made that conclusion months ago.

As he was getting some cereal he heard another roar of thunder making him jump, 'Pathetic' he thought, he didn't like looking weak and to him being afraid of thunder was something which made him look weak, it made him annoyed. As he was getting some milk he heard another roar of thunder this time making him flinch, after that, it was quiet which made him grateful that is until he heard the screech of a pokemon, he froze thinking it was just his imagination until he heard it again accompanied by the sound of thunder which made him jump and allowed him to get out of his frozen state, he started to panic, what was he supposed to do in this situation? he couldn't tell his parents they wouldn't believe him and his siblings were as useless as him.

He heard the screech again and without a second thought, he ran outside into the storm, he ran for what felt like hours but was only a couple minutes, he wasn't surprised to feel himself becoming tired as he didn't get to eat that much. A few years into the future he would have said he ran because it was the right thing to do, but now he ran with no such thoughts he ran because his instincts told him to, Finally, he arrived at the site of where the screeches of help were coming from, he looked in front of him to see a fallen tree that was on fire but no sign of the pokemon. He stood there scanning the area seeing nothing, hearing nothing he was hoping to Arceus that whatever pokemon was calling for help was still alive and could make any noise, he heard nothing.

He stared blankly at the fire that was in front of him a million thoughts running through his head, he sat underneath a nearby tree and let the tears fall, he felt like a failure, he felt disgusted with himself for not being able to help someone, he felt hatred run through his vein, he felt it all be aimed at himself, it made sense now why his parents hated him, it was because he was a failure it was because he couldn't do anything.

As he stood up with tears still running down his face he heard a whimper and froze, he waited to see if he wasn't imagining it and was rewarded with another whimper coming from the other side of the broken tree, with speed he didn't know he possessed he was on the other side of the tree in seconds and what he saw made his already broken heart shatter into a million pieces. Their laying with half of its body under the tree was a brown fox but that wasn't what had made him so shocked, what had made him so shocked was to see it crying tears giving up hope just like he did only moments ago.

"Hey," he said not knowing how to get its attention but was happy to see it snap its head up and stare at him with both fear and fury, fear of death and fury to show that it could still hurt him if it wanted to, he showed it both its hands a clear sign that he was unarmed and that he meant no harm, he saw it stare at his hands for a couple of seconds before looking back at him, taking that as a sign to continue he said, "I heard your calls for help and came as quickly as I could, I'm going to try and help okay?" all he got was a nod back, as he moved towards the tree he felt a sharp amount of pain come from his right hand "Ack" he grunted and grit his teeth as to not scream out in pain.

He looked to his right to see that the fox had bitten him and immediately understood that it didn't trust him as much as he thought it did so as delicately as he could he moved his arm towards the light blue tuff of hair that was on its head ignoring the warning growl he received, as he touched the fox he felt it bite down harder making him grit his teeth, but that didn't stop him from scratching its head to show that he really meat no harm to it after a few tense seconds he was happy to see it remove its mouth from his hand allowing him to go back to what he planned.

As he looked back to the tree he was met with an insane sense of heat and a massive amount of fire, with reflexes he didn't know he had he jumped away from the tree, landing on his backside and staring at the tree in fear, he had spent years living with fear but this was a new type of fear for him he didn't know what to do again, he was frozen in shock again, he was trying to make plans in his head but all he was getting was blanks.

As he stared at the fire he looked back at the fox to see it staring back at him, he looked into its eyes and saw multiple emotions despair, pain, fear and then trust, it was putting its trust in him, it was trusting him to save it, people say that the eyes are the doors to the soul and after that, he believed it. He promised himself that he wouldn't lose its trust and that he would save it.

So with new vigour, he ran at the tree he felt the adrenaline pumping through his veins instead of anger as he tried to pick up the tree, he felt it move up and heard a whimper come from his right, "SORRY" he said through gritted teeth and shaking arms and legs, he felt the heat get closer to him and opened his eyes, not realising that they had been closed out of concentration, he was greeted with the sight of the fire dancing dangerously close to his throat "AAAH" he yelped as he felt the fire start burning his left hand, shoulder and chest, he ended up pushing the tree up higher than before feeling the fire burn him more but still not letting go, he wasn't going to waste the trust that the fox gave him. He prayed to Arceus that the pokemon had already moved because he didn't know how long he could keep holding the tree and as if answering his prayer he heard a bark letting him know that fox was safe and behind him, so with as much energy as he could he pushed the tree away from him and fell on his back.

He laid there on the ground watching the rain hit him, after a couple of minutes he felt the adrenaline leave his body and immediately started hissing in pain as he felt the burns that he had gained start to hurt him.

He felt some energy in his body come back and so tried to stand but ended up immediately falling back on all fours. He looked right and saw nothing, he looked to his left also seeing nothing so he gave a sigh allowing his head to drop not knowing where to find the brown fox, as he sat there he felt a lick on his chin immediately making him snap his head up and gritting his teeth from the pain of the sudden movement but he didn't care, as he looked up he was greeted with a smile from the fox that was inspecting him, realising he hadn't done that himself yet he looked at it.

It had a brown body with a black mane, on its head, there was a brown tuft of hair with the top being light blue, its legs and eyebrows were also light blues with two light blue circles appearing near its eyes and its eyes a red colour, he quickly realised he didn't know what pokemon it was but he didn't care. As they were done inspecting each other they just stared at each other both noticing that it was lighter now than before meaning it was morning, it was still cloudy but the rain had stopped.

As Naruto was done inspecting the sky he looked down to towards the fox to see it close its eyes and push his forehead towards him, not knowing what to do he copied it and what he saw amazed him. He felt multiple emotions rush through him gratitude, trust, joy, protectiveness and love he understood that the love she was sending him wasn't one of romance but a sibling type.

He understood that the fox was a 'she' he didn't know how he knew but he did and he believed it. The next thing he experienced was seeing her memories he saw her come out of an egg, he saw her get ignored and hated by her pack, her family, because of her different colour, he saw her leave them, he felt her loneliness he felt her sadness and he realised that they were two of the same coin, they were opposites by species - yes but they were still the same two sides of a coin.

As she gently pushed him out of their mental link he heard a childlike voice whisper "Katsumi" and he immediately understood. The next time he opened his eyes he felt himself crying again and as he looked at Katsumi he saw her tears too,

"You saw my memories too" he said it as a question but they both knew it was a statement, as he saw her nod with a regretful look he said "It's fine, it's only fair that you could look through my memories if I'm looking through yours" he said with a smile and was happy to receive a happy nod back.

As he tried to get up he felt himself nearly fall over so he grabbed onto a tree for support, distinctly hearing a bark of concern from Katsumi as he made his way over to her he picked her up in his hands, with a look of concern and said "We need to get you to the hospital to check your back" he said as he started to limp towards a path he saw, "There's the regional Professors lab around here so we're going there" he said as he limped down the path.

As he was limping he heard a bark and looked down to see Katsumi pointing at his injuries and giving him a pointed and regretful look, a look of understanding crossed his face and he said "ill get myself fixed up after you, don't worry about me and hey It's not your fault that I'm injured, I got injured because I wanted to help you so it's my fault, not yours " he said with a smile until he saw her lick his right hand where she bit him making him hiss, "Okay that was your fault" he said and quickly carried on seeing her look down out of sadness "but I don't blame you, you didn't trust me, and everyone would have done the same thing that you did" he said only to see her roll her eyes at him and then bury her head into his chest making him flinch but understand the gesture, he smiled with a wink telling her he accepted her apology gaining a happy look from her.

As he looked back up he was greeted with the lab appearing in the distance, he limped forward at a faster speed and said with confidence "don't worry Katsumi, you'll be all better soon".
