April took a deep sigh as she got into bed.

It's been twenty four months. Twenty four months since they lost their son.

Her husband was already in bed, asleep.

He pulled a thirty-six hour shift and they started couples therapy nearly three weeks after Samuel's death.

They're better, they've gotten better.

Jackson instinctively wrapped his arms around his wife.

"Hey," She greeted.

"Hi," Jackson replied sleepily.

"Sorry if I woke you up." She said softly.

"Hm, It's fine, I couldn't sleep without you anyways." Jackson murmured.

"It's been a two years..." April said.

"I know baby," Jackson replied as he placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I miss him,"

"I do too,"

"But I think he's watching over us,"

Jackson looks at her, over the course of these past two year, she's been in denial, shock and depression, the stages of grief. So has he.

"Me too," Jackson replies.

They visited him today and congratulated him on second his birthday.

They normally visit at least once a week.

They didn't get to cut the cake.

He didn't get to blow any candles.

"He's in heaven." April said as her voice wavered.

Jackson tightly wrapped his arms around her.

"But I think he's going to be okay..I think he'll be okay." She whispers.

Tears pool in Jackson's eyes.

He loves her, he always has and even if she isn't ready, he's supporting her. He made vows to stay no matter what and she's enough for him.

Even though they lost her son, she passed all five stages. He passed all five stages. They're life is on track and even though they've changed, life is good.

"Jackson?" April wondered.

"Yeah?" Jackson breathed.

"I'm pregnant." April blurted.

"Really?" He asks with a glint of hope in his eyes.

"Y-Yeah, like 7 weeks." April stammered.

"And I know I should've told you soon but I was terrified and I wanted to absolutely sure because I didn't want to get your hopes up for nothing-" April rambled.

Jackson placed a passionate kiss against her lips.

Tears streamed down April's face.

"I'm terrified what if this one doesn't make it?" April asks and Jackson has never seen her so scared before.

"Have hope, baby..We'll take tests..and if things don't work out, I'll be right here..by your side." Jackson assures her as he wipes the tears from her face with his thumb.

"Okay?" He asks as he lifts her chin to look into her hazel eyes.

"Yeah," April responds as a small smile appears on her lips.

"I don't want to tell anyone, not until after the first trimester so we can take the tests." April mentions.

"Okay, Babe." Jackson whispers as their foreheads touch.

"I love you," April smiles.

"I love you too," Jackson responds.

She placed an eager kiss on his lips, maybe everything would be okay this time.

...

Jackson stretched as his eyes opened.

He heard his wife retching.

It's been a little over a month since his wife announced the pregnancy. So she's now 12 weeks pregnant.

He walked into the bathroom and saw her vomiting her contents into the toilet.

He pulled her hair back and rubbed circles against her back.

As she finished she took breaths of air and he offered water.

"Morning," Jackson greeted with a grin.

"Morning," April grumbled as he placed a kiss on her forehead.

"I'll go make some breakfast and I'll see you in a few, okay?" He asked as he stood up and walked out.

Ever since Samuel died, he appreciated, life a lot more, and did his best to help April, he wondered how she didn't just completely break. He's her support system and she was gonna leave for Jordan, but she decided to stay. After couples therapy and many exercises, their relationship strengthened. He's different and so is she but it's for the better. They both got stronger in their own ways.

He cooked some eggs and bacon then boiled some hot water for tea.

She walked into the island kitchen in sweatpants and a t-shirt.

He greeted her with a kiss on the lips.

He served her eggs and some bacon.

He served himself some on a spare plate and ate his food as he walked towards her and sat next to her.

"I'm gonna puke this, Anyways," April groaned as she leaned against his shoulder.

"Just try a little bit of it, Hun." Jackson encouraged as he took a bite of his bacon.

April did end up eating a little bit and drank all of her tea.

"Thank you." She thanked him after eating.

Since today was their day off, they decided to watch some TV.

It's cold in Seattle and there's a lot of snow outside.

They were comfortably wrapped in each other's embrace.

April was taking a nap while letting out soft snores as Jackson's hand was caressing her bump.

He wants this baby.

He has another chance at this.

He's gonna protect this baby and his wife at whatever cost.

She's been especially nervous today since they are taking the tests to make sure the baby is okay.

April turned around in her sleep. Jackson let out a soft chuckle as she buried her face in his chest.

He rubbed circles on her back, knowing that she feels pretty crummy today.

He thinks motherhood suits her.

He thinks pregnancy suits her.

She'd make an amazing mother, she's already a phenomenal wife.

She already has a bump, this baby must be a little bigger because the bump is bigger than when Samuel was at 3 months but, she can hide it with bigger scrubs. The bump is noticeable, not big enough for one to see through scrubs. It's

Jackson's been making jokes about having a huge baby. But that wasn't the case.

Jackson's phone rang.

He reached his arm out to the nightstand and grabbed it.

He answered the phone.

"Hello," Jackson asked.

"HEY AVERY!" Mark's voice boomed through the phone as Jackson winced.

He turned down his volume.

"Hey, man..what's up?" Jackson asked.

"You forgot?" Mark wondered.

"What did I forget?"

"Man, The damn game night!" Mark groaned.

"Oh yeah...That's still tonight?" Jackson asked as he lowered us voice.

"Yes,I mean the snow isn't that bad and it melted a little earlier so get your pretty ass over here!" Mark said as He hung up the phone.

April opened an eye and looked at her husband.

"We should go," April said not shifting from her current position.

"There's gonna be wine, and your going to turn in down and I thought you said that you wanted to hide this pregnancy for a little bit." Jackson explains.

"I know, but We have the appointment today and if everything is okay, then we can tell them right?" April asked.

"I want to tell them, but just know that Sloan is gonna call dibs on the name." Jackson chuckled as he lightly kissed her forehead.

...

Dr. Herman spread the gel around April's bump.

"This bump is quite big for twelve weeks." Dr.Herman states as worry covered Jackson's features.

Dr. Herman picked that up and reassured him that it's okay.

She glides the wand around April's stomach.

"That's 20 toes..." April said as she looked at he ultrasound.

Jackson rubbed his eyes as Dr. Herman grinned at the two.

"You're having two babies!" Dr.Herman smiled.

The twosome's eyes misted as they took sight of their children.

"Now for the test results, your children haven't been detected for anything, so they are perfectly healthy." Dr.Herman states with a happy grin as she hugs the two and walks out of the room.

"We're having twins..." April whispered.

"We were not prepared for this.." Jackson chuckled.

"But this is good, the babies are healthy." April smiled tears glistened in her eyes.

Jackson placed a kiss on her lips.

"This is amazing." He assured her. Afterwards, They got their due date and they are due some time in June.
