Her heels clicked in a rhythmic pattern the floor of Darwin ward as she headed towards her office. She gritted her teeth as she reached the door, her whole body warm with rage. She was fuming to say the least. She took a deep breathe and gathered her thoughts.

Why must he do this...? She thought. She was paged whilst in theartre because of his stupid, childish ways. That alone, angered her even more.

She pushed the handle of door down and braced herself to implode.

"How many more times are we going to do this?!, hmm?" She stormed over to her desk and slammed her pager down.

She looked over at him as he sat on the sofa. "Sorry" Sam uttered unable to even make contact with her.

She raised her eyebrows her words wrapping themselves in her anger. "What is it this time..?, patient complaint, lack of bedside manner?" She questioned.

"Hurry up Sam, i was called out of theartre for this" the woman put both hands on her hips.

It was at this moment that Elliot walked in

A box of tissues in his hand.

"Ah, Connie" he stood with the door open for sometime looking from her to Sam.

"Has he told you-" Elliot let the office door slam he bumbled in and set a box of tissues beside Sam, he stayed stotic.

It was at this point that Connie body tensed. A small knot has started to form in her stomach.

"What is going on?" Her voice started to lace with a slight panic.

"Lets step outside the office.."

Connie shook her head. "Tell me" she urged. Her mind raced, somehow she already knew.

"Not Alice..." her eyes filled with tears as she looked on at Sam.

"Sam..." she started but words failed her.

"I'll leave you you both to talk" Elliot bumbled back out the way he came.

She took a seat trying to steady her breathing as bile slowly rose in her throat. She placed a protective hand on her bump. 4 months gone.

Sam slowly lifted his head, his eyes red and raw from the crying, he was exhausted.

"This.. this was why i paged you because i thought you deserved the right to know" his voice was strained and barely audiable but the silence that filled the office was deafening.

Connie watched him. "Thank you" was all she could muster through the tears that had formed in her eyes.

Her pager bleeped and she wiped away fresh tears.

"I have to go but you stay here as long as you need" she straightened her stethoscope. "Of course, your more than welcome to go home" she uttered quietly before opening the door.

"No" Sam stated standing up. "I have to keep working, keep occupied, im all yours" She was concerned that he was feeding off her, putting up a barrier.

Connie nodded. "Okay, well im performing a bypass in the next half an hour, if you'd like to assist?" she kept her eyes on his and the man nodded she gently squeezed his arm. This was her way of letting him know that she was here.

"Okay, what have we got?" Connie's voice was authoritive as she helped push the bed towards one of the bays. The woman was groaning in pain, an oxgyen mask pinned to her face."This is Alice, 34" Elliot started. "She has a history of conary heart disease and is suffering with shortness of breath"Connie nodded taking in the information as they wheeled her into the bay."Hi, Alice, im Connie Beauchamp and im going to be looking after you"Connie watched as she pulled the mask down."Ive...heard... alot about... you" her words were raspy and breathless."Im sure you have" she gently pulled the oxgyen mask back over her face. She stood with Elliot at the end of the bed as they scanned her notes. Connie glanced back at her."Strachan" she uttered."Yes, non other than his sister, we need to find him" Elliot kept his voice low as to not alarm her.Connie nodded."Alice, i will be back soon, Mr Hope is going to access you""She seems nice..." Alice wheezed.

They both stood in the scrub room as they washed their hands after another successful bypass.

Connie glanced at Sam. He wasnt much use in theartre, truth be told, he wasnt with it. Lost track of the task in hand and almost asked him to take a break.

But they got through it with said patient in recovery.

"Ive had such an odd craving for olives lately, i sat and ate a whole jar the other night" Connie never did this, opened up this way she was trying her very best to lighten the mood.

Sam turned to her his eyes glistening, he was looking straight through her and she soon enough found herself comforting him as they stood in the middle of the scrub room.

"Come on" she rubbed him on the back but couldnt stop her eyes prickling with tears.

"I think you need to go home" the man stepped back he nodded.

"Thank you, for trying to cheer me up" his words came out as another strained whisper.

"You go and get some rest and if you cant face coming in tomorrow, let me know"

Sam nodded and insinctivley put his hand on her bump. "Make sure you look after yourself"

"You to, please" she left her statment to him hanging in the air as he left. She couldnt help but worry for him.
