A/N: here's the epilogue. I hope you've enjoyed this! Remember when at chapter 10 I said that I hoped I would finish before I uploaded the other chapters? I might have finished it all that night. Whoops. Self-isolation problems. Have a great day!
The sun was setting as Hermione Weasley walked down the runner behind her daughter and Ginny. He gown was simple this time. They had agreed. They had had their big weddings. This was about their families. She held a few roses in her hands as she gazed down the few seats toward Draco, in his impeccable grey suit. He had decided that one.
She smirked at him, slightly shaking her head. He had assure her it wasn't Slytherin silver, it was grey because he wore black suits so frequently.
She looked around at the assembled guests. It was her parents. Most of the Weasley family. Scorpius, Hugo, Rose, and Ginny were their wedding party. Narcissa was seated primly at the front, next to Astoria's mother. She had been only too happy to offer Hermione a family hairpiece as her something borrowed. She was ecstatic that her grandson was getting a new mother to help take care of him.
Looking over her shoulder, she could see Lucius Malfoy leaning against a tree about fifty meters away. She shook her head again, but focused her gaze back on her husband to be. At least Lucius was there. He may not have been happy and he was so deeply disappointed that Draco was marrying someone their family didn't approve of for the second time, but his presence gave her hope that deep down, he really loved his son and they could work on that relationship.
This certainly hadn't been the life she had planned. Her 18 year old self, even her 25 year old self had been so sure that Ron was her everything. That they would grow old together and would always have each other. And she wasn't wrong, she supposed. The first two rows, she knew, had portraits of Ron and Astoria sitting in the inner-most seats.
It was the kind of thing you could only do if you were absolutely certain of the love your spouse had had for you and for the love this new partner had for you. And they both were. It was quick. They'd had their encounter in the cemetery less than a year ago, but she was so sure and it felt so right.
She knew Draco felt the same.
His smile when he saw her and as she drew closer warmed her to her core. She felt so safe and secure looking at her future with this man. She knew she could survive anything, having lost Ron. And she knew that happiness was always an option, having found Draco.
What had Dumbledore said all those years before? "Happiness can always be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light."
Looking at their children, those children that were so part of Ron, and for whom she would be keeping the Weasley name. To the child who was so much hers already in Scorpius, despite the fact that the two of them couldn't have looked more different. She had found her light. It was this life, with this man in front of her.
Though life would certainly throw more at them in the years to come, she had certainly found happiness again. And for another life altering moment, as she took Draco's hand at the altar, she truly felt again that all was well.
