Author's notes: I was seriously wondering if I should continue this thing or not, I'm indecisive as hell like that. But, a idea popped in my head, saw I made it "Parody" and "Romance" in the title and only X's name is there, sooo I am gonna do, this.
X and Zero continue throwing punches and kicks faster than human eyes can see and even faster than even normal reploids to follow. When one throws a uppercut, the other would dodge their heads backwards without effort, and when throwing leg sweeps, they would jump and try to do a vertical downward kick, and vice versa. They were equals, and this proved it. They had spectators who were doing their own business before, but find their practice round more interesting and sat on benches to awe at them.
"You approved." Zero said as he went for a straight right punch.
"Thanks." And X caught it with his left palm, a small shockwave emitting from the impact. They smiled and stopped and headed towards a bench of their own to cool down from their morning workout. Needless to say, it was a good day for them. For X mostly as the ones in the training room with them wasn't making fun of him. He didn't know why, but he can finally give a sigh of relief knowing that they thought the joke of him in a relationship was old and decided to move on with their lives. He wasn't really sure though, but oh well, it's good to not be picked at.
"So you have any plans for the day?"
"Well, I am gonna go out and do more missions, I mean, I can't ask for anymore vacations. It'll be a violation."
"Alright, I think I'll do the same. Been itching to get back into the action after sitting on my ass doing nothing but patrolling."
"And stalking me." Zero lightly punched his arm,
"One time X, one time." They laughed. Couple of minutes going by a slow pace, the two watching the young and inexperience hunters-in-training practicing their own style of fighting and the variety of weapons their carrying on their person. Future upcoming soldiers for the protection of all lives, X loved it. Zero stood up,
"If you want, we can walk together to the Control Room, or you can stay if you like and relax a bit more and we'll meet after the day is over?" X thought it over,
"Yeah, you can go on ahead, I'll stay a bit long if that's alright."
"No worries, rest up buddy. Later." They fist bumped and he walked out. X put his arms on his knees and leaned forward and continued to observe the new cadets. He then heard a beeping coming from his comms. He clicked a button on the side of his helmet,
"Hello?"
"Good morning X!" He smiled,
"Good morning to you too. Heading to work now?"
"Yep, and since I still have time to get there, why don't we continue where we left off yesterday? But I won't bother if you don't have the time this time." He can tell if Rico had that disappointment tone in her voice whenever he says he doesn't have time. And he hated that,
"Nah, I'm free until I'm called for action or when I decide to go. So sure, we can talk now, and I was actually curious when you were stating about the new energy source you were helping developed with the others."
"Oh yeah! Well, it's too early to tell, but,"
"…and with it, that utopia you wanted, might be a dream come true! Isn't that great?"
"It really is, I wish you and your friends find out how to operate it soon."
"With time X, it's not magic, it's progress and development. But it will come, just like every other problem solver in the past. Everybody just needs to have patience."
"I know. So anyway, do you wanna maybe go out again next week?"
"I would love to, you have any plans?"
"Hmm, was thinking about a picnic?" He heard a small giggle,
"A picnic? You are going with a classical old school romance setting Mr. X?" He mentally panicked,
"O-oh, I'm sorry! If that's not to your liking-"
"No no, I was just messing with you, lighten up the mood. Didn't mean to sound rude."
"Oh, w-well don't worry, still adjusting."
"Until now?" He scratched his head,
"Sadly, yeah."
"Aw, no need to worry X, in time you'll you adapt. Anyway, I'm already here at the university, so we'll meet up again at the same spot as before."
"And this time, I'll make sure nobody is creeping up on us." Both laughed,
"Gotta go now, love you."
"Love you too." And he clicked again with the smile still on his face. He looked at his side and saw some snickering reploids, saying how cheesy he was being, pretending to propose to each other while male reploids imitating females pretending to be in shocked, and all that other stuff he hated hearing/seeing. He smacked himself as he kind of jinxed himself from earlier. Back to being the clown of the maverick hunters he goes. He then stood up and decided to head to Control to continue his duties. Everything seems to fine enough as it is in the corridor, until he spotted Axl walking towards him. He attempted to turn around and walk away, but he soon felt a pat on the back,
"Morning X!"
"Hey." X tried to walk faster to get away, but felt a arm around his waist,
"So what have you been up to lately? Still seeing that blue-haired cutie?"
"Non of your business."
"Aw come on, don't be so cold. I'm just being friendly here."
"Well be friendly to someone who is actually your friend like Zero." Axl pretended to have his heart struck,
"Oh dear X, that hurt. I'm shocked to hear you say that."
"Get used to it. Anyway, don't you have missions of your own to do?"
"I was, but, decided to poke fun at you first cause, why not?" Axl shrugged,
"You have already been told several times now that not doing your missions is a violation. So either you do them, or don't do them at all and get out of the hunters." He warned,
"Alright alright Mr. Buzzkill, I'll leave you alone for now." He let go of X, "But just so you know, I know why your mad at me. But you never know, I may have did you a favor."
"I absolutely doubt it. Now go already."
"Sir yes sir." He mocked saluted and walked away.
'Why is he so rebellious? He is over a hundred years old and he still acts like he's still a teen which he clearly is not.' X ranted in his mind. It's useless to do that, but he does it to calm himself down. He shook his head and was finally heading towards his destination, going in the direction Axl went in. He entered just in time Axl teleported out. It was his turn as Alia began to brief him,
"Okay X, your mission this time is simple, a couple downed ships carrying innocents has been shot down near the town square and the maverick that has been spotted there is holding them hostage in one of the ships. You'll have command of the hunters heading there already."
"Got it. Ready to be transferred."
"Transferring in 3…2…1." And out he went in a light blue pillar. She sighed as she returned her attention back to her screen,
"Your doing it again." She turned to one of the other navigators close to her who is raising an eye brow at her. Alia turned back to her computer,
"Doing what again?"
"That depressed sighing. It's bumming you out isn't it? After Axl gave the news a month back about X."
"I don't know what you mean." The navigator turned her chair towards her and put a arm on the table and leaned.
"Don't pull that one on me. You've been crushing on the guy for a long time now and you didn't even do anything about it. Now look at him, in a position where you want to be in right about now." Alia rubbed her eyes,
"Look, what's done is done and I can't change the past. He's happy, so I should be too."
"But be honest with yourself, are you?"
"…"
"You don't have to persuade him to dump someone for you just like that, just admit how your feeling towards him and let things flow, see how it turns out. If it doesn't turn out, you know the old saying, "There's more fish in the sea to choose from."" He patted her back and went back to do his station. She thought it over, and decided it to do it. But, decided to do it in her own way some would deem pushy, but worked. She just had to wait.
X teleported back in, a bit scratched up, but overall was fine and dandy. The mission took quite awhile because of how many civilians he had to rescue and the high amount of mavericks that had been underestimated both in numbers and strength. Nevertheless, he pulled through and people were once again giving him praise. He didn't really need it, but never object against it.
"Mission completed."
"Nice work, rest up for now. We'll keep you updated." He nodded and walked out, deciding to head out to do his room. Alia looked over to the operator, and he grinned,
"I got your post covered. Go get 'em" She smiled as she took off her headset and went after him.
X was beginning to wonder what to bring during his date, couple of homemade sandwiches, maybe some wine to add to the moment, a good spot on a grassy hill in some parts of the city that wasn't metallic...he knew he WAS being old school and cliché in terms of how romantic he was gonna be, but he didn't care, as long as he spends time with her, that's all that matters.
"X."
He jumped. He turned around and Alia stood with a small nervous look,
"Oh, it's just you Alia, cough, anything I can help you with?" She took a breath and looked him straight in the eyes,
"There's something I just need to confirm."
"And, what's that?"
"About your relationship." She got to the point, not wanting to waste time with mincing her words. He raised his brow, even if nobody can see it behind that helmet of his,
"I'm sorry?"
"Your relationship."
"With, Rico?"
"Yes."
"Um, o…kay? Well, what do you want to know?" She looked side to side, making sure to give a look to tell any operatives nearby to move away. Seems rude, but somehow worked. Back to X, with that confused look on his face,
"How do you feel about her?" X tilted his head,
"What, do you mean?"
"No need to act dumb, just tell me how do you feel towards her." He straighten up again and looked away,
"I'm just in love in with her, nothing complicated."
"And only her during your time of active duty?"
"I mean, I didn't have that many crushes then. I did have a very few infatuated, but that's just about it."
"And can you tell me who was one of them?" She walked a bit closer to him and he backed up,
"Uh…" X felt the wall on his back.
"Come on," she put her palms on the wall around his sides and looked up at his eyes, "just tell me. Who was one of them?" X was slowly getting heated by how close she was. He was reliving a feeling inside of him. He looked away,
"I, I won't say."
"Why?"
"J-just because."
"Can I take a guess?" She turned his head towards her,
"Is one of them, me?" He was being disgusted with himself for feeling this feeling right now.
"I uh, I don't-"
"Is it?"
Gulp "Y-you are beautiful I can admit, but, I never-"
"Really? We've known each other for over a century and your going out with something who you haven't spend more than a year with."
"That doesn't mean anything…"
"Yes it does. You hesitating proves you did have something for me."
"…that was back then. Things are different."
"Then just give me the answer." Their faces were very close now, her voice sounding almost like a whisper,
"…"
"Maybe," she leaned in, "this will help." Their lips intertwined and X tried pulling away, but got engrossed and gave in, completely hating himself. He put his hands on her waist, pulling her closer and hers on his shoulders. Both spend a couple of minutes just locking lips, and pulled away with X again feeling like he was gonna overheat,
"…pushy aren't you?" Alia smirked,
"It's how I play." X looked down,
"…yes, I'll admit it. You were one of my big crushes. I was just afraid to do something back then."
"Then, what do you feel for me now?" He looked back up at her,
"…love. Just, simple love."
"So what's your true answer? The real one. And don't try pulling a fast one just to get out of this." X had to be honest with he's feeling, seeing that there's no way out of this.
"I'll be brief, I, fallen in with love you again," He rubbed his head, "but now, I love Rico just as much. There's no way I can just, choose, that's just how I feel."
"…I see…" She perked her head up, "Then I'll just be like, a second girlfriend." He flinched,
"Second?!"
"Well she already took the first spot. not counting your past one before her, and it can be harmless IF, I don't meet her in person."
"That, might be a impossibility."
"Don't jinx it."
"Y-yes ma'am!" She smiled and walked closer,
"Good, now that is out of the way, I need to get back to work." She gave him a quick peck on the lips, turned away from him and turned back to wave and wink at him. Alia was out of sight, and X leaned on the wall, hands on his face, and shaking his head.
"What have I done? What am I gonna do now?..."
"Heh heh."
X jerked his head to the left and there was Zero leaning too, arms crossed, and trying not to laugh with a s**t eating grin,
"Two girlfriends in under one year. I would say your one lucky guy, but now your gonna have to spread the news to girl number one next week and Light only knows how she's gonna react. And you have to tend to both of them. Either way X, your screwed."
"…you, are not, helping!"
Author's notes: Yep.
